August 2014: growing bumps and 20 week scans!!!
DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 10:44

Yea, I have no other symptoms that would suggest anything has gone wrong and my boobs have grown a lot in the last couple weeks which wouldn't have happened if anything had gone wrong but I'm accepting that it is a possibility. It might be hard to believe but I'm not worried about it, if it's happened it's happened and I'll deal with it if I have to but I'm sure it'll all be ok, they shouldn't leave such a long gap between scans! I am focussing more on the positive but it's at the back of my mind. The fact that nearly everyone on here has had similar thoughts and then discovered everything is perfect is reassuring.

10 days to go.

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 11:06

Ooo my scan is in 9 days!! I thought it was the this Thursday but its next

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 11:18

Oh! mine is next Thursday too! Yay! I have a scan buddy Grin mine isn't till 14.30 though, work that morning is going to be horrible but at least I won't have to go back after the scan.

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 11:22

The 16th? Yay. Mine is at 14.00 Shock scan buddy Grin

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 11:44

Oh no Sad Thursday is the 17th, you're on Wednesday.

mssleepyhead · 07/04/2014 11:53

We've been really lucky and felt some movements on the outside since the day I turned 18 weeks. They're few and far between though and since about 20 weeks the kicks oddly seem to be getting weaker, but apparently this might be because my uterus has grown (certainly true!) so baby has more space to move around in. Hoping the strong kicks come back soon!

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 12:20

Damn pregnancy brain lol I keep getting mixed up!
Im under 2 clinics at the hosp 1 general and 1 renal and 1 is on Wednesday and 1 is on Thursday that's why im getting soooo mixed up!

We can still be close scan buddies Grin

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 12:26

Works for me itisme we'll be 'bringing up the rear scan buddies'. Just make sure you turn up at the right place on the right day next week!

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 12:29

Lol I know.
Can you imagine me walking through the doors and dh taking day off work and they turn round and say 'its tomorrow/was yesterday' Shock

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 12:45

I keep calling you itisme and just realised you are actually isitme. Sorry about that Smile we'll just blame baby brain.

I put it in the calendar on my phone as soon as we made the appointment, oh so many weeks ago. I don't know if I'll get a letter to remind me or not.

HungryHorace · 07/04/2014 12:59

I'm sure all will be fine, Disney. It's natural to worry though.

I slipped yesterday on our slimy patio (landlord is too tight to put a guttering up on a brick outhouse which leads to moss and slime on the building and patio) and although I didn't fall, I did start to do the splits. That worried me a bit. All is ok today though.

I've got an anterior placenta, but it's not low and DH has been able to feel kicks low down since about 20 weeks. It was 16 with DD, but that's rare.

I've been feeling loads today in places I wasn't before so either baby is stronger or my placenta has shifted. Either way I'm happy! :-)

Baby was wriggling loads in the early hours too, using my bladder as a trampoline I think. Not great.

So tired today after a busy weekend. Think I may have done too much.

Jenbee1 · 07/04/2014 13:20

Disney I didn't start to feel movement until after my 20 week scan(this is my first and I'm at 22 weeks), now it's pretty frequent. Don't worry.

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 14:34

Dont worry I never noticed lol

just popped it all in my phone.
Ive had around 7 appointments already!

I have at least 2 this month. Then next month is gtt and im due a renal scan plus growth scan next month I think

Glad your ok horace x

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 14:52

I know it will be fine, just every so often I get the thought "what if something has gone wrong". I'll have to focus more on trying to feel movements in the next few days. I think my bump is still quite small for almost 5 months so maybe I just have a small baby which will mean I have to wait longer till it's big enough for me to feel movement.

I like the thought of it being a small baby. No 10 lbers here please!

isitme1 · 07/04/2014 15:22

Lol disney. I would be worried about you if you didn't worry! Once you feel babh you will feel so much better. I promise its worth the wait Cake

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 15:31

I feel better myself for having a wee worry, I don't feel quite so heartless now!

memedragon · 07/04/2014 16:32

Disney I didn't feel any movement at 19 weeks. I actually can feel movement now, but it's only really been in the last week that I've been sure it's the baby and not just my stomach. I am 23 weeks 2 days with anterior placenta. It's quite faint and it doesn't happen all the time either, only a few times a day usually after I've eaten. Seems to have been getting stronger and more frequent over the last few days, hope it continues like that.

DisneyDiva87 · 07/04/2014 16:55

Thanks meme I'll be interested to find out if I have an anterior placenta or not now. Perhaps I just have a lazy baby.

BunnyBaby · 07/04/2014 18:36

Hi girls, I've had palpitations too, worse when tired or dehydrated.

Re: movement, I had an anterior placenta with DS2 and agree was later, and in a while I think baby bigger in proportion to placenta so you should feel more.

We just had scan today, normal size baby (good as Ds1 was 9lb and Ds2 10lb), and this time it is a GIRL!!! We wouldn't have minded another boy as my sons are so different in character. However, it will be nice to have a little girly company with these lovely boys.

Just awaiting consultant appt on 27th now, I thought I was one of the last scans, but it looks like there are a few behind me.

Re: paternity leave. Someone said about awkward employers, and I thought they had to give 2 weeks to all Dads..

Will really try to make and effort and get on here more often.

travispickles · 07/04/2014 18:57

Hi all- great news on the scans. Those worrying about lack of movement I have had a couple of occasions, one which resulted in a panicked call to midwife. The baby can just hide away sometimes!!

crazylady2013 · 07/04/2014 19:10

Had my scan today and everything is looking good. It was great seeing baby againGrin . Can't believe the time we see it will be when it is my arms. We also found out we are having a boyGrin . I was the only one to guess correctly out of our family and friends. However, this evening it has hit me that I have no idea what to do with a boy. The only experience I have is girls from running Brownies/Guides. I guess I will learn quicklyWink . Good luck for all those that are waiting for scans
Hope the time flies by for you.

crazylady2013 · 07/04/2014 19:11

BunmyBaby I checked about the paternity leave with what the government says and apparently it is up to the company whether they give one or two weeks Angry .

mssleepyhead · 07/04/2014 19:46

A bit of a what would you do moment... We're in Paris having a final long weekend holiday and have a meal booked tomorrow at a really nice restaurant which I've just found out serves a chef's choice menu, so I can't pick. It's Japanese-French food, so there's a good chance sushi and undercooked beef will be on the menu. I really don't want to have to give my husband my food...! And it is a really good restaurant where I shouldn't have any problems of the food, but I don't want to do anything stupid. So - would you eat it all?

BunnyBaby · 07/04/2014 21:33

Thanks Crazy, I think there is a legal obligation to ensure workers have two weeks leave together (regardless of parental leave), so I think hard to deny two weeks off (if one parental and second usual leave). Though my DH runs his own company, and always gives his male employees the two weeks, when it comes down to him, he took 2 days for ds 1 and 1 day for ds2 - lol - the joys of being your own boss.
