Congrats 2be!

Hope all is ok Liss must be nervewracking, thank goodness the wee guy was ok.

I have my 16 week appointment at the midwife tomorrow when I'll be 17 weeks... I seem to be running a week behind on everything, I'll be 21 weeks at the 20 week scan too!

I'm quite excited, hope I get to hear the heart beat although I know there is a chance I won't. Still haven't noticed any definite movement but I did feel something in bed last night that felt a bit like gas but a lot more gentle.

Hope all the other scans today are going/have gone as well as 2be's!

ItsSoFluffyImGonnaDie · 19/03/2014 15:57

Hi all, just checking in!

We had our 20wk scan yesterday, all went well but couldn't get the spinal measurement so we're booked to go back next tuesday. Couldn't tell what colour it is as baby had their legs crossed (not that DH wants to know) but the sonographer said we can look next week if baby plays ball!

Glad all other scans have gone well too!

Jenbee1 · 19/03/2014 17:15

Loving all the scan news. Keep it coming

Lissbug · 19/03/2014 21:30

Thanks everyone. Everything seems fine. No more blood thankfully. Let's hope it stays that way. Think I will feel better when I can feel him kicking. Sometimes I think I can feel movement but I'm not sure!

HungryHorace · 20/03/2014 05:01

Good luck for today's scans. Who's having one today? Piña?

I'm 20 weeks today. Milestone achieved! Next one is next week's scan.

travispickles · 20/03/2014 07:06

Yes good luck scan people.

DisneyDiva87 · 20/03/2014 08:43

I'm jealous of all you scan people. I'm only having my 16 weeks appointment today! Good luck to today's scanners.

Have woken up with a pain in my lower back on the right hand side, it feels quite deep. If I had to pick a muscle I'd say it was the psoas major (that's the fillet steak one, mmm....). Hope it goes away.

DreamPhone · 20/03/2014 10:21

Morning All! I'm nervously counting down the minutes until I can leave the office at 12.30 for my scan - feeling extremely excited and nervous at the same time! Having nothing but weird baby related dreams at the moment.

Anyone else having their scan today?

flymo79 · 20/03/2014 10:41

eek! good luck dreamphone!! let us know how it goes

flymo79 · 20/03/2014 10:42

disney - I had a bad pain last night in my glutes - think it's my piriformis (get us!!)

DreamPhone · 20/03/2014 11:41

flymo Will do Grin I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be able to see all they need to see and give us a definitive thumbs up! We've been looking forward to it for so long it will feel a bit deflating if the bubba is in the wrong position and we have to come back again in a few weeks, on the plus side, another chance to see the baby and a half day in the office is always welcome...

Best of luck to everyone else getting scanned / having midwife appointments today!

2beornot · 20/03/2014 13:01

Good luck scanees - let us know how you get on

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 20/03/2014 21:27

Him just dropping in to say I had my scan today and all is fine! It was amazing to see little feet and hands waving about Smile

Congratulations to everyone else who has had their scan, and good luck to those waiting for theirs!

weeza13 · 20/03/2014 21:27

Hope the scans went well and you were all able to see the bits you needed to see.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 20/03/2014 21:28

That should say Hi, not Him... Grin

memedragon · 20/03/2014 22:37

Haven't been on this thread for a while (very busy at work at the moment), but thought I'd stop by to say that I had my scan this afternoon - I was so nervous but everything looks good, hooray! Glad to hear others have had good scans too. Apparently my placenta is at the front, which I guess would explain why I've not been feeling much in the way of movement (that and the fact that this is my first pregnancy).

Oh, and the ultrasound technician said it is a girl! Or at least, probably a girl - she said she wasn't 100% sure. How certain are these things anyway? Anyone know how often they get it wrong?

flymo79 · 21/03/2014 08:02

meme, congrats on your scan! my sonographer said the same, about 80% certain so to "keep receipts" for anything you buy that might be gender specific! not really fussed but DP is pretending it's 100% certain to be a girl and I'm still hedging my bets. I've googled around but can't find out how often they get it wrong, it's a shame that all they have to go on is dangly bits or no dangly bits! There's not even another indicator...

DreamPhone · 21/03/2014 10:43

Morning All,

Just to let you know that we got the thumbs up at our scan yesterday! Also, it's a girl! Or at least the sonographer thinks it's a girl.... Similar to Flymo she said to go ahead and buy girl stuff but hang onto the receipts. I think we'll just roll with it being a girl and if we're wrong, well then it's meant to be!

She was curled up in a wee ball and the sonographer couldn't get the last measurement she needed so she told me to stick my hips in the air and jiggle my belly around as much as possible to try to shake her out! Did the job thankfully Smile

In other news I watched an episode of OBEM last night and am now feeling slightly terrified of the labour...I think it's because it all feels so much more real now! Any other first timers starting to feel nervous?

Good luck for any scans today!

flymo79 · 21/03/2014 11:57

Ha! me too Dreamphone! I had to do that wiggle with my bum in the air! DP said he thought sonographers do that to make their day more fun!
also a wee bit nervy about labour, I am on a mission now to watch loads of OBEM, listen to hypnobirth stuff and read, read, read!!

memedragon · 21/03/2014 12:47

flymo, seems like it's easier to be sure it's definitely a boy than definitely a girl - with a boy it's the thing rather than the absence of a thing that they're looking for! I am not taking it as a certainty, but like your DP my DH does seem to be. It shouldn't matter re. receipts though, I have been pretty vocal about wanting pretty much all gender neutral stuff.

DreamPhone · 21/03/2014 13:24

Flymo That's exactly what I had to do Grin I loved this scan - you could see so much more detail.

jessplussomeonenew · 21/03/2014 15:34

Exciting scan news - keep it coming! We still can't quite decide whether to find out the sex... My husband doesn't really want to and I'm sufficiently undecided not to want to press the issue, though I think I'd be delighted if we got an unscheduled flash of something recognisable during the scan! A few weeks to go before we need to decide....

In other news, we've just booked a holiday in May, so I'm hoping I'll not be too waddly and exhausted at 24-25 weeks. Any recommendations for maternity swimwear? I naively thought I could just wear my bikinis but it has dawned on me that, having gone up 2 cup sizes, the top half wouldn't be comfortable or entirely decent!

Secretlypregnant · 21/03/2014 16:24

Congratulations, memedragon and Dreamphone! I had to do a lot of wiggling too - my baby curled up and the sonographer had a hell of a time trying to get her head circumference.

It's so lovely to have such a long time to look at the baby wiggling around and all the bits and pieces. It does make it feel even more real!

mssleepyhead · 21/03/2014 17:05

Congratulations everyone on the scans! We have an early one tomorrow morning to see if we can find out the gender. Fingers crossed!

Jess - I just got a maternity swimsuit from George at Asda for £14. Not my usual style but I didn't want to spend a lot of money and it was the most affordable one I found. Pleasantly surprised with the quality for the price, but not with my new suit suit body!! Might be worth a look.

HungryHorace · 21/03/2014 17:18

Excellent scan news! :-)

Can't wait for mine next week. Our hospital doesn't let you look while they're measuring / checking though. Saves us spotting the sex accidentally though, hopefully!

Good luck tomorrow, mssleepyhead.
