eurochick · 12/03/2014 16:41

meme I'm suffering with bloating but did pre-preg too as I have IBS. My bump is much more prominent in the evening than the morning as I bloat up throught the day!

flymo79 · 12/03/2014 16:55

hi 3rdtym, I'm impressed! congrats on your move, you must be exhausted

3rdtymmummy2b · 12/03/2014 17:25

flymo- I have quite alot of energy atm considering i have a 6 mnth and 5½yr old but then again i dont really have time to think about being tired, oh the joys of motherhood Smile eh! (wouldnt change it for the world though)

memedragon · 12/03/2014 17:34

Euro - I was diagnosed with IBS a long time ago, but then it went away and I had no problems for years except on a couple of occasions after a very rich meal. When I had my contraceptive implant out to start TTC I had a nasty bout of it, and then in my first trimester I had digestive troubles galore. In my entirely unscientific and anecdotal opinion I think mine is triggered by hormonal changes and also anxiety/stress, so pregnancy is the perfect storm! Also surely all the moving around of organs can't help. Yesterday evening several people said I was looking very pregnant - I didn't like to say it was mostly bloating!
Disney - today I've not eaten much at all, but once I get my appetite back smaller meals are definitely a good idea. I think I'm just going to have to be super careful throughout the rest of the pregnancy and try not to get complacent, which can only lead to pizza and chocolate (and that way much pain lies!)

mssleepyhead · 12/03/2014 20:57

Lots of aches here today too. I'm wondering if its partly because I'm wearing leggings instead of trousers; maybe I'm less supported? Also I think baby is going through a growth spurt so might be partly that.
Disappointed that after a clear week my brown spotting has returned too, but maybe that's related?
Who knows. Time to get the Doppler out for one more reassuring listen I think. Midwife appointment next week and gender scan a week on Saturday. They can't come soon enough!

mssleepyhead · 12/03/2014 21:27

Reassuring listen was good. Boom boom boom! Just not much movement going on in there. I like hearing the whooshes and thumps. How much do babies really move at 16 weeks, anyone know...? I feel like it's been quiet for a few days now...

HungryHorace · 12/03/2014 22:31

They move loads, because they can! Swimming happily about :-)

I love listening too. DC2 keeps moving so I end up playing chase! At least that confirms it's baby. :-)

mssleepyhead · 12/03/2014 22:43

: ( my little one seems very still. At the scan it didn't move much at all and recently every time I've listened in all I've found is the heartbeat, no whooshes. I really hope it's ok in there...

Secretlypregnant · 12/03/2014 23:09

Mssleepyhead, this is your first, isn't it? With my first, I didn't feel a thing until after 20 weeks. Not a thing. Some people do, some don't. Just because you're not feeling it, doesn't mean it's not wiggling around like mad.

Second time around, I have just started feeling a few definite movements at 18 weeks. Two weeks ago I had the faintest flutters, and I know that the first time around I would not have recognised them as the baby. It's only knowing what they are that makes me aware of them.

I have never used a doppler, but I do know that from week to week things are changing a lot inside the womb. Surely that must mean you're going to be hearing different sounds at different times? If it starts worrying you more than comforting you, perhaps put the doppler aside for a while?

HungryHorace · 13/03/2014 08:15

They can move loads without you feeling at this point, mssleepyhead. Don't worry that you can't feel it.

I'm really only just feeling very occasional solid wriggles / movement at 19 weeks (and I'm lucky to feel that as I have an anterior placenta).

Maybe I'm odd as I don't listen for the whooshes etc, I just find the heartbeat, listen for less than 30 seconds, then put the Doppler away! I'm scared too get too reliant on it, I think.

I'm so tired right now, full time work plus teething DD, plus pregnancy insomnia is a killer! Roll on Saturday. :-)

HungryHorace · 13/03/2014 08:20

To get, not too get. Sigh.

flymo79 · 13/03/2014 08:40

knackered too this morning horace, only got about 4 hours sleep last night, aching hips and insomnia, dammit! am like a zombie at my desk today. Hope no-one wants me to do anything too dynamic!

DisneyDiva87 · 13/03/2014 09:24

Morning!

I'm 16 weeks today, haven't felt baby moving but I keep forgetting to take a bit of time to sit and feel for them though, apart from 5 mins in the bath last night. Can't wait to feel it for the first time. Most importantly the heart is still going MsSleepy maybe the times when you have tried to notice the baby it has been asleep so hasn't been moving much? Or it might just be making smaller or more gentle movements. It will probably depend on what way the baby is lying too, I imagine if all the limbs are inwards towards your organs you wouldn't feel movement so much. Take comfort from the heart beat.

I've not had any trouble sleeping yet (touch wood) which I'm grateful for.

Was meant to go to yoga this afternoon but I've forgotten my gym stuff Sad

FriendofDorothy · 13/03/2014 09:27

I am shattered today.

Got a nasty headache and feel like my head is full of cotton wool.

My DS is a grumpy, snotty and coldy little creature at the moment and yesterday I cried whilt making breakfast and then cried whilst making tea. I felt pathetic!

DisneyDiva87 · 13/03/2014 09:47

Oh Friend what a shame, here sit down, put your feet up and have a decaf Brew and Biscuit.

Being weepy is allowed and it's not pathetic, I cried the other day cause OH's shirts came out of the wash with wrinkles in them.

Make sure you are looking after yourself, is there someone else you can ask to help out? Like to make the dinner or anything? You need an occasional break and time to yourself so make sure you get it if you can.

flymo79 · 13/03/2014 09:54

I cried this morning too because DP couldn't stay for breakfast! then I felt pathetic.
promising myself a bit of cake later. Every cloud (Smile)

FriendofDorothy · 13/03/2014 10:07

My lovely husband is fabulous but I am just missing my Mum so much at the moment. :(

DisneyDiva87 · 13/03/2014 10:18

I think you need to treat yourself to something to cheer yourself up Friend.

Sorry if this seems a bit tactless but I take it you have recently lost your mum?

FriendofDorothy · 13/03/2014 10:22

It's ok. My Mum died very suddenly and unexpectedly whilst she was on holiday in Greece in September last year. She was just 63 and I miss her terribly.

I am fortunate though in that I have a fab sister and Dad and a great husband, but nothing replaces your Mum.

This year's Mothering Sunday is going to be bittersweet. Last year's was brilliant as for the first time I was a Mum and my Mum was around. This year only half the picture is happy.

DisneyDiva87 · 13/03/2014 10:39

It must be hard, especially when it's sudden like that and especially at this time of year and when you are expecting a little one yourself. It's easier to say than to put in to practise but try to focus on the happy times you had and enjoy the memories, don't focus on what you don't or won't have any more.

And take the time to grieve when you need to. Take care of yourself.

DisneyDiva87 · 13/03/2014 11:38

So, I've heard that from 16 weeks the baby goes through a growth spurt, has everyone noticed their bumps suddenly getting bigger? (could be the reason behind your cramps Euro?). I have a little bump but I don't look pregnant yet, it's just that I know my stomach sticks out more now, I'm looking forward to being slightly bigger but not huge. Being huge can wait Grin.

flymo79 · 13/03/2014 11:40

so sorry to hear Friend, I will be thinking of you and all those who've lost their mums on mothering sunday xxxxxxxxxxxx

memedragon · 13/03/2014 11:51

I'm looking forward to being huge Disney, at the moment I look pregnant to those in the know, but to everyone else I just look extra tubby. I don't really care all that much about it, I'm not exactly slim to begin with and try very hard not to worry too much about what I look like to others, but I just think it'll be nice to be obviously pregnant - I am sure I sometimes catch people staring at me and trying to work it out! On the other hand I am not looking forward to people touching my stomach or to strangers asking me about the baby, which I have heard is a thing that happens.

Sorry to hear about your mum Friend, this must be a very emotional time of year for you, especially being pregnant. My thoughts are with you and the rest of your family.

eurochick · 13/03/2014 11:57

Dor I can't imagine how tough it must be. I really feel for you.

I was talking to someone on here about headaches. I'd been having them pretty much daily for weeks. I had acu on Monday and none since, so it is either a huge coincidence or it has helped. It has been so nice to have a few days free of them.
