zing I don't think its weird to be a little sad. It must just feel like one phase is coming to an end and I'm sure it is perfectly normal to feel like that. Just think though the arrival of this baby signals the start of a new era - one where your family is complete Smile Sorry if that doesn't help - I am looking at it from the other end to be fair as this is our first but I know we are unlikely to have more than another one in the future and look forward to both all the 'firsts' with this baby and one day completing our family and watching them grow into adults with families of their own Smile

maggie I find a bath helps soothe the ache a little - though I much prefer a scalding bath normally and that is obviously off the cards atm! Strange though as I thought with spd etc it was sore to move legs apart etc or is that not necessarily the case? I am pretty flexible and reckon even with the back twinges and sore pubic bone I could still manage some almost splits lol Grin

ickle I am soooooo tired even working at home at the moment so no commute! I dread to think how much more tired I could get towards the end. Just need to find some motivation to nest Smile

blue we've been doing bits and pieces to the house for the last 5 years or so since moving in. What you are saying makes perfect sense - I know I will feel much better/not sick/not as sore after baby gets here even with sleep deprivation! I think I'm just using her birthday as an excuse for a deadline to get some things finished off but I won't be too annoyed if we can't get it all done in the next few weeks.

Ismarah good luck for the flight!!

Patchwork88 · 08/04/2014 15:34

All those with inner leg/pubic bone pain I feel your pain!!
My . physio recommends moving both legs at same time with knees together when getting up from chair/bed/rolling over. it does help a.lot although I hardlt ever remember.

I don't want to be the one to ask this but with only 12 weeks to go I feel I need to start it off...anyone sorted childcare for return to work? that might sound mad but I used to work in a nursery and the waiting list was 2 yrsShock I hate thinking about return to work before I've even left but think it's probably wise...

BlueC2 · 08/04/2014 15:45

ipsum I also meant to say that if baby arrival deadline gives a good excuse to kick DHs into action then go for it (in our house I'm the DIYer so doesn't work here!)

patch def worth people thinking about. We waited til DS 5Mo before putting his name on nursery list and I wouldn't have had a place for him if we hadn't changed our minds and gone for childminder instead-he was nowhere near the top of the list at 14Mo!

icklekid · 08/04/2014 16:12

Oh zing I would love to feel like that. At the moment just the thought of going through this again is awful I really hope the rest of this pregnancy goes quickly. I think its not the SPD just the constant sickness every night Sad 6 times last night Angry

patch I wondered if it was way too early or not but as I will be going back for at least 3 if not 4 days a week would be interested in starting to look into childminders/nurseries but wondered if they thought I would be ridiculous looking already! Thanks blue will have a look at some...

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2014 16:33

ipsum according to my physio I am quite flexible too though I never would have thought it... my trigger is standing still-ish for more than about 5 mins or walking for sometimes 5 mins or a few hours and then I get dead legs. There are loads of ligaments in the pelvis so it can affect different people in different ways and although she never said the term 'spd' she said about 90% of women have some sort of problem. I've been told to wear the support, figure out my triggers then stop/reduce/adapt what I'm doing and practice pelvic floor exercises as these help support the pelvis too (but I'm not very good). The pubic bone pain is new though so going to give it a couple of days and see how it eases up.

However have just got home and taken my tights off and I have swollen ankles... I was expecting one as I slipped yesterday but the other one is def puffy!

Good news is the health visitor called me earlier to book my booking in appointment... I may not have sounded quite so stupid if the mw had warned me to expect a call Blush

Plateofcrumbs · 08/04/2014 17:45

Just to add a 'me too' on pubic bone pain - for me it is definitely linked to running about - had to leg it for the train this morning and i've been suffering for it.

Incapinka · 08/04/2014 18:42

Don't know if it will help those with pubic bone pain but there are 2 pressure points almost on your bikini line (about 1cm in from bikini line and just above your groin). You will know where they are if they are 'tight'. Get a finger or 2 and massage the pressure point quite firmly and see if that helps. Works wonders for me but does look very dodgy so be careful where you do it!!!!!

Zing - I do think you are slightly mad Wink but can understand it. This is my second and whilst so far I have got away with not too bad symptoms I don't enjoy it and remember sleeping far better with a new born than when actually pregnant. I am also lucky that I don't have a particularly big bump or even really look that pregnant. My boss is a rather famous 3 day event rider and did ask if I was having a gerbil due to the lack of bump. It is now known as gerbil...!

AuntieMaggie · 08/04/2014 22:17

incapinka can you draw me a diagram please? Grin

zing sounds normal to me... I'm already thinking about the next baby as I'd like them fairly close together...

ickle really feel for you with the sickness :(

mummytobejuly2014 · 08/04/2014 22:27

anyone got pelvic/hip pains? wondering would a body pillow make any difference :s
baby getting stronger day by day, got a massive stretch today with what must have been a foot pushing out of my belly (very uncomfortable the little skitter)
heartburn rearing it's ugly head again :(

BlueC2 · 08/04/2014 22:27

Phew! Well that's been hard work- just finished a 4.5 day slog worth of work which has taken 8 days as I can only work when DS asleep-so afternoon naptime or evenings or when DH here to look after him. I am totally exhausted!! Roll on the time when our lovely childminder is back to work! Evenings are not my strongpoint at the moment either so working 7-10pm ish after looking after DS all day has been tough-but we need the money so it is worth it!

One thing I've noticed though is that in the evenings when I've been working my calves get v tight almost as if swollen and I have to stretch them and pace around the house to relieve-think I remember getting this during the day sat at my desk last time (I worked full time before DS)

So now to try and unwind my brain before I crash into bed and hope I can get to sleep before 3am (which is what it was last night!)

fifi669 · 08/04/2014 22:45

Pretty sure stretch marks are appearing.... They bypassed me with DS :(

icklekid · 09/04/2014 06:47

auntie persevere with pelvic floor exercises I do 2 times a day when first get up and before go to bed they do get easier...

blue sounds hard work- I would be rubbish working in eves never been productive then even when at school/uni! Early morning person me. At least its done though. Hope you got some sleep!

mummy my body pillow is a life saver really helped with hip pain when I sleep and wake up feeling able to face the world not in a grump anymore!

Going to mamas and papas to pick up pushchair this morning Grin may have a browse when get there, oh and ikea is just next door so might wander around there too...any recommendations from either?!

BlueC2 · 09/04/2014 07:12

Thanks ickle slept well thanks though woken with full on head cold :( it's been looming for a few days so obviously waiting for me to relax enough for it to take hold! Have fun at M+P getting your pushchair :) v exciting! The Ikea children's section has loads of great stuff too so worth a wander.

Meeting up with NCT group from DS later today-the girls who've moved away are travelling back for it which will be lovely. Can't believe it's 2 years since we were doing our classes though Shock

BlueC2 · 09/04/2014 07:32

fifi I didn't get any on my bump last time! just hips and breasts so wondering what will happen this time around.

Breasts will never be the same again after this much breast feeding though...DH keeps joking that the DC have taken possession of them and will return them to him when they've sucked them dry and shrivelled them up! Hopefully it won't be that bad! Currently trying to wean DS off his nighttime feed...not currently going well as he's very determined about it but not sure I can deal with the hassle of him wanting it once DC2 arrives...will see how it goes.

ZingSweetCoconut · 09/04/2014 08:49

Plateofcrumbs · 09/04/2014 08:53

Hmm my friends have been raving about this theatre thing (The Drowned Man) and was thinking of buying tickets. It requires a lot of standing/walking around so was reading the FAQs which say:

"The air quality inside may not be suitable for pregnant women, or for those suffering with Asthma, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, or other respiratory conditions."

Eh?

Would you still go if it were you?

Ipsumlorem · 09/04/2014 08:56

maggie that all makes sense then. thankfully pain is not too bad this morning so hopefully I won't aggravate it too much sitting with my laptop today.

ickle I agree about the body pillow. I'm usually a tummy sleeper and tend to sleep wrapped round it in a kind of half recovery position. Its the only way I don't end up with a dead leg/sore hips when I get up.

fifi I had some faded stretch marks before on my hips and boobs mainly from putting on weight and losing it when I was younger. Have noticed a few new red ones to either side of my belly button and at the very bottom of my bump. Think I may have been spared hip/boob ones as that skin had already been stretched iykwim?

blue well done getting your work finished! Smile I'm about to start for today. I'm dreading the next week or so as I've soooo much to do before I'm off at Easter! At this rate I'm going to end up working some of my leave! Sad

ZingSweetCoconut · 09/04/2014 09:45

plate

I guess they make fake smoke or such.
I think I'd probably skip it, but simply because I've always had upper respiratory tract problems, so avoiding irritants is better for me.

you could ask theatre to clarify what it is.
people smoking joints? dry ice?

Plateofcrumbs · 09/04/2014 10:50

Second dilemma of the day - have recruitment interviews tomorrow for someone I would be line managing. Do you think I should cover up the bump?

I think I'd find it a bit off-putting if I went to an interview and realised my would-be boss was going to be on maternity leave either when I joined or shortly afterwards.

ZingSweetCoconut · 09/04/2014 11:22

plate

I know nothing about office stuff, but my gut instinct is that they will find out soon enough so being upfront and honest about it straightaway is what I would do.

but as I said I know jackshit,Grin so hopefully someone better clued in will give you better advice!

Plateofcrumbs · 09/04/2014 11:41

Well between my last post and this one ANOTHER team member has just resigned! Bloody hell! So sod the ethics of it, I'm going to schmooze these interviewees to smithereens tomorrow and not give the slightest hint that they will be joining a decimated team with a maternity cover manager. All's fair in love and recruitment!

ZingSweetCoconut · 09/04/2014 12:18

Good plan!

wear a t-shirt:
"I'm pg. do not piss me off!"

Grin

sorry btw that someone else quit as it must be very stressful for youThanks

fifi669 · 09/04/2014 13:49

I'm feeling like a whale already and there's so long to go!

My friend with 3 DCs of her own said I look much further ahead. Er cheers. That'll be the effect of having a belly to start with I guess!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 09/04/2014 15:33

Plate: on recruiting, I think I'd be fine if I were going for a position where the manager would be taking mat leave soon. As long as the role is interesting (play it up!) I would be upfront. That said, most people I've interviewed tend not to ask that much about the rest of the team etc and to be fair, you going on mat leave is no different to you leaving full stop (for another job etc). I don't think they'll mention it in particular

By the way I'd probably find out why the show isn't deemed suitable and then make up my own mind. Maybe it requires you to stand etc? But then I'm also painting the baby's nursery, still working out and a couple of times a week I have a glass of wine so I've never really been overly restrictive about lifestyle whilst expecting. I think it'd just be too boring to do nothing but think about the pregnancy for nine months! It might just be that they worry you'll be jostled?
