plate DP said the same thing last week Grin

icklekid · 04/04/2014 04:59

auntie my midwife told me at first appointment to keep notes with me at all times. I didn't but further I get more I think about it- went to London at weekend so put them in my overnight bag just in case so going abroad I would.

My weekend consists of not doing much, friends over for grand national fun, not doing much, friends over for Sunday brunch, not doing much! Can not wait Smile

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 04/04/2014 07:45

Good morning!

Has anyone heard anything from Zing recently? She seems very quiet at the moment. Hope everything is ok.

I am part way through the GTT waiting for first post glucose blood test.

Midwife at the hospital explained there are 5 reasons for having it:
1 high pre-preg bmi - 23 so ok
2 high preg weight gain - 4kg/9lb so ok
3 family history of diabetes - no so ok
4 previous baby weighing more than 4kg - 2.8kg at 41 weeks so definitely nowhere near
5 Aged 35 or over - 35 so got to do GTT

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 04/04/2014 07:48

I should add that I'm not in the UK so rules here are probably different. I think it might just be my hospital that is very cautious.

BlueC2 · 04/04/2014 07:49

ickle by contrast I will have to work all weekend while DH entertains DS :(

I seem to have started with nighttime restless legs-just couldn't get comfortable last night and DH snoring SO loudly didn't help either!

Happy Friday all :) even though I have to work it's still nice to have that weekend feeling!

ZingSweetCoconut · 04/04/2014 07:50

I have been kidnapped by Pinterest!Grin

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy · 04/04/2014 08:35

Grin I need to spend some time on Pinterest to get some ideas for DS's future bedroom.

30 mins until 3rd and final blood test this morning. The other two have hurt more than usual. There's one lady here where usually I don't even feel anything when she takes blood.

ZingSweetCoconut · 04/04/2014 10:07

Fox

so sweet of you to worry about me!Smile

all good here,I've been busy throwing out sorting toys, packing boxes, finishing a big sewing/quilting project and having lunchtime naps.
making meringues today as we have wedding plus big family meet up this weekend.

kids are breaking up today, can't wait for lovely lie-ins!Smile

ismarah · 04/04/2014 14:53

Blue I've said it before but magnesium really does help with the leg thing. I used to have practically full body twitches on a bad day and muscle cramps on every walk. Magnesium has helped prevent most (if not entirely all) of that.

Zing you're cheating on us with other forums? Well I never. Grin

NancyinCali · 04/04/2014 15:33

Happy Friday! PIL left yesterday so it's weird having an empty house again. My best friend and her family arrive in a couple of weeks though.

Off to the spa tomorrow for a whole day of relaxation! Can't wait :) DH in charge of DD for the day. Hoping the prenatal massage helps my back.

AuntieMaggie · 04/04/2014 19:54

ismarah what magnesium are you takng? I asked the pharmacist about i a few weeks ago and he told me not to take it...

icklekid · 04/04/2014 21:13

Oh dear blue hope the weekend goes quickly for you!

zing just as excited as your kids about the holidays. Hoping to get out of the 4am start of the day habit!

In way too much back pain and feeling very sick all day just want to go to bed- dh wants a nice relaxing evening however hes only just finished decorating for the night Sad

mtpg · 05/04/2014 08:41

I use the Magnesium Oil Spray, from BetterYou, the purple one as the blue didn't really work. I rub it in my calf every evening, but if I forget and have a cramp I apply right then and it smooths the pain.

Patchwork88 · 05/04/2014 11:34

Anyone else an Ocado shopper? They have a big sale on baby stuff at the moment. I got a Gro swaddle blanket and a nappy bin from there. I like buying bits and bobs in the weekly shop...just feels like the cost is being spread a bit :-)

BlueC2 · 05/04/2014 15:20

Well DH doing a good job entertaining DS in the garden and with help from our neighbour has got rid of the 3 irritating rose bushes which were in the way whenever we got out of the car and then when I next looked the small (but overgrown in need of attention) tree had gone too-boys and their (power tool) toys eh?! So DH feeling v pleased with himself.

I haven't had quite such a good day with poorly tummy this morning which totally wiped me and now v painful trapped wind :( making getting my work done rather slow going as I can't comfortably sit at my desk! Gonna give the lactulose a whirl and see if that does the trick!

On a better note I didn't have the restless legs thing again last night so hoping it was a one off.

ismarah · 05/04/2014 18:18

Auntie I'm taking standard supermarket magnesium + B6 or a plain magnesium. I've told midwives and obgyn consultants about it and they're all fine with it. I also take vit D and folic acid. I prefer the separate doses as they often upset my stomach less and the doses in the 1 a day pills are not always useful in size.

I had an interesting experience here in the US when I needed more throat lozenges and being unfamiliar with the brands etc here, I diligently read all the packaging to see what was what. The branded version of menthol lozenges had no pregnancy warning but the store own brand equivalent did. So being extra careful, I asked the male in store pharmacist about it. He completely stonewalled me and would only tell me to see my doctor - useless while I'm here. Then as my cold got worse and worse I went to an actual chemists and asked the female in store person there about different things I'd researched and seemed to be OK. She was completely different, lovely and understanding and said that in her experience, what happened with me was typical.

So maybe blokes just don't get it? But magnesium really is fine, provided you have no other health problems where magnesium might be contraindicated, although I don't know of any and can't think of any.

If you can't take magnesium, eating foods rich in potassium, such as bananas, and making sure you stay well hydrated with lots of water is also very useful for cramps and restless legs. Leg massages before sleep can also help but I find that now I have to ask DH to oblige as I find it harder to reach around bump / am a shortarse.

icklekid · 05/04/2014 19:00

Blue sounds like my dh came back from post office to find him in the garden with a saw!

I got legs spasms last night for first time was horrible Sad hoping it doesn't become regular.

Went into town today and gap had just gone which was gutted about- just went online and Paddington stuff is nearly all gone too.

My horse lost in grand national, dh footie team lost and Leicester tigers lost in last minute in the rugby! Not a good sporting day.

Need some more mini eggs I feel....

dramajustfollowsme · 06/04/2014 03:19

I am wide awake as baby is doing full on somersaults! My whole stomach is moving. Constantly. And has been for the last 40mins. GrinConfused
As long as she settles into a comfy position - dd had her feet in my ribs for the last weeks of pregnancy. It was so uncomfortable and made breathing tricky. So far this little one is being kinder to mummy!

NancyinCali · 06/04/2014 04:26

Amazing spa day today. So chilled now Grin

icklekid · 06/04/2014 06:27

Ohh nancy that sounds amazing!

Glad little one is being nicer drama!

Out of interest is there a 'set' amount we should feel babies movement at different stages of pregnancy? I'm always relieved when they do kick but not sure if they are very still when at work or if I'm so busy don't notice it?! Always active in evenings though.

BlueC2 · 06/04/2014 08:32

drama I nicknamed DS the ferret as he kicked and wriggled so much but actually think this one even more active! Just hoping it doesn't take a dislike to my right hipbone and ribcage in the same way DS did-he kicked and kicked them to tell me they were in his way and I swear I had internal bruising as a result :) Now he's 22Mo and is still a wriggler determined to find a comfy position that suits him whenever he gets into bed!

Howly · 06/04/2014 10:06

I had a wriggler this morning, she burrowed right down between my hip bones and was somersaulting, it was funny! Love feeling my baby kick especially as she's been quite quiet the last few days!

Plateofcrumbs · 06/04/2014 10:08

Survived a house party last night, even through the stage of everyone getting so drunk they start making 'cocktails' by pouring random spirits together. I'm really amazed how little I miss drinking (although a cold pint in a sunny beer garden is quite high on my post-preg wish list).

I took delivery of a large box of ASOS maternity clothes yesterday so I need to have a trying on session (I really have too many maternity clothes already but the sale is soooo cheap - got a lovely frock for last night's party for £14). I went a bit click-happy with the intention of not keeping it all so let's see if I can stick to that intention...

auntiemaggie hope your DH enjoyed the ride yesterday - all I have heard from mine is that he is one piece!

Mrsc020987 · 06/04/2014 15:31

Anyone heard of or had experience of PUPPPs? After visiting maternity triage yesterday, and out of ours today plus no sleep due to horrific itching ive been diagnosed with PUPPPs and feeling sorry for myself. Docs have said nothing will take it away completely just help sooth itching and to expect it to last until baby arrives. 12 weeks of blotchy red did i mention itchy blisters on my bump! Both baby and i are fine has no effect just not pleasant! Pass the scratch mits!!

icklekid · 06/04/2014 15:45

Ohhh no mrsc that sounds horrible especially on bump Sad not surprised you feel sorry for yourself I would too!

Ohh plate I keep looking at more maternity clothes and thinking about adding to basket but just can't justify yet...
