The GTT is standard here but luckily the lab opens at 7.30am and I will be there on the dot to limit the amount of time I have to go without eating! It was all fine with my first pregnancy, just boring sitting around for so long. ellie - hope it goes smoothly for you.

We didn't use cotton wool either. In hospital they had these soft dry wipes that you used with water so we carried on with them at home for a while before switching to regular wipes. Although we were a little PFB and bought a wipe warmer to use as our house is freezing overnight and poor DD was getting a cold bum Grin. Mind you we also changed her every time she woke in the night which we won't be doing again (unless poo of course).

I had to buy maternity shorts yesterday Wink.

mummy hope she was okay :(

natwebb79 I cannot remember the last time I slept through the night. Maybe sometime in 2011?

I hardly ever post from my laptop but just noticed you can include photos now so here are my latest purchases. Possibly not the most practical outfits in the world but we have lots of bodysuits etc so I thought a little bit of frivolity was allowed.

I got maternity trousers/jeans from mothercare. They do a petite length and are the best fit I've found. I did have to wonder web the trousers a bit but not the 6 inches I'd have had to with the others!

Plateofcrumbs · 13/03/2014 17:33

Heartburn has kicked in today, bleurgh eating most of a bag of satsumas might have something to do with it And a throbbing headache. And tired.

Moan over! Wink

I've not needed to bother with maternity tights, my normal ones are fine but I guess because I'm tall tights generally sit on my hips rather than tum anyway.

icklekid · 13/03/2014 18:47

biscuit debenhams have shorter leg jeans which suited me well- although I needed to go down a size!

Really pleased to not to have to deal with cotton wool!

mummy glad you had a good day, hope your backs ok

talulahbelle · 13/03/2014 21:51

20 week scan today and all is well, although we didn't get any decent pictures. Baby is a girl :)

lemonpoppyseed · 14/03/2014 14:54

It's interesting to read all the different perspectives on the Glucose Test. It's a standard test here (Ontario, Canada) taken at 28 weeks. No fasting required here; you just show up for your regular 28 wk OB appointment and they do it that day.

I was actually asked if I wanted one - I declined unless there was a reason to do it other than my BMI. My sugars have been fine, my BP is AWESOME! I feel fine in general and the clincher was that MW had no clue what was in the goop. On that basis, I decided not to. Allergies are a wonderful excuse sometimes.

I, ah, should go pack, shouldn't I? Meh.

Woo ladies it's Friday I love a good weekend although where has the sun gone? Had a lovely couple of days the end of this week! Anyone got anything nice planned? :-)

BlueC2 · 14/03/2014 19:26

V pleased it's Friday as am so so tired and DH is going to take DS out tomorrow morning so I can have a relaxed morning-woohoo! However I first have to find the energy to go to my friends for dinner tonight-why oh why did I think a Friday evening was a good time to go out?!

If I have the energy tomorrow morning I would like to either make the clock I have designed for the nursery or sort through DS's newborn size clothes and see what's what though I will probably end up slodged on the sofa feeling too exhausted to do anything

Hope everyone is doing ok?

lemonpoppyseed · 14/03/2014 20:02

Yes, happy weekend, all!

I follow another July group online (What To Expect July 2014), and the first July baby was born yesterday, at 24 weeks. Baby is doing as well as can be expected, but tests continue... I can't even imagine being in that poor woman's position (to make it even worse, her husband is overseas, in the army), and have been feeling a bit weepy all afternoon.

Pregnancy hormones Sad

Blue I'll probably end up doing the same tomorrow - dp has training most of the day on a saturday so I usually spend it doing my share of the housework while he's out of the way... however the bathroom seems to be all I manage these days! Oh and I'm going to try to make a cake.

jaykay987 · 14/03/2014 20:08

wow lemon. That's a terrifying thought.

NancyinCali · 14/03/2014 21:58

Don't hate me: I'm on the beach Grin. Glorious spring day and the in-laws are here entertaining DD. Wish I'd brought a chair though as the sand is not comfortable for a 21 weeks pregnant woman.

elliejjtiny · 14/03/2014 22:39

That's scary lemon. One of the ladies on DS4's antenatal thread had her baby at 25 weeks.

I was going to decline the GTT this time but they nag you so much about it now that I thought the test was better than the nagging. I phoned the antenatal clinic to check that they knew I needed an anaesthetist as last time they didn't and they had to page one who was very annoyed about being interrupted to do a blood test. Spoke to a midwife who said that IF they need an anaesthetist they will page one. I felt like saying that nobody who isn't an anaesthetist is going near me with a needle but I'll save that argument for tomorrow.

elliejjtiny · 14/03/2014 22:41

Just realised I sound like a diva re the anaesthetist. I'm not, I just have really bad veins and nobody else can get blood out of them.

liquidstate · 14/03/2014 22:41

Its going to be a good weather weekend and DH is busy on the farm all the time because of lambing. They have open days this weekend but I can't go because of the sheep and being pregnant so will be mooching around at home whilst he drives his tractor for the kiddies trailer rides.

May have to head into town and spend some money!

lemon it is scary and upsetting. I am a few weeks behind a friend who lost her baby at 27 weeks so do not feel safe at all.

What is a GTT?

Plateofcrumbs · 15/03/2014 00:56

liquid. GTT = glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes.

How scary about the premature births. Hope all ours are staying put for quite some time yet!

ismarah · 15/03/2014 01:07

GTT is a glucose tolerance test - it's done on an as needed basis in the UK - you might not need it.

I have never felt so pregnant as I did tonight. I know that this is the most pregnant I've been what with the PFB, but tonight as I was packing and tidying I really felt it! Proper waddle and everything with my back killllling me.

On the plus side, tomorrow I will be on the beach.

icklekid · 15/03/2014 05:02

How lucky to be on the beach- I live in the middle of the country so an hour + away from any beach although one of my class (age 8) told me she was going to a beach 10mins away or about a mile! I look forward to finding out how that went on Monday- especially concerned as have been teaching geography so lots of maps work and focus is on coasts. ..definitely teacher failure there!

We had friends over last night as was fed up of being a hermit- snacks snd articulate was great fun but my back was agony by end of it :-( sleeping also doesn't appear to be happening!!! Oh well off to kiddicare later- must stop looking at prams now we've decided on one!

oo00PIXIE00oo · 15/03/2014 07:29

Or joint ladies just having me only coffee of the day before hitting the housework - my DP are coming for the weekend (we live by the beach) and I haven't seen them since Christmas :)

lemon saw a v pg woman running in town yesterday and thought of your story had to turn away :( why do people take the risk??

Well we are having a little bugger who kicks ferociously while I have my iPad resting on my tum but goes really still when DH or DD put their hand there I think he is listening and teasing them lol. He has had hiccups three times this week but they always happen during the day when I'm at work so DD hasn't felt him yet think she is glad as at 11 she is pretty grossed out by the thought I think lol.

Mothercare are doing a 15% off when you spend £100 online at the mo - looking forward to a delivery of little bits and pieces today but especially my dreamgenii pillow - hopefully it will relieve my back ache. I love knitting and have been making blankets and little cardi's but just can't get comfortable at the moment. I have also ordered a groegg room thermometer which was recommended to me.

Well coffee finished best get on - though DH says the house is fine I need to go through it .... Have a great weekend everyone what ever you are doing xx

oo00PIXIE00oo · 15/03/2014 07:30

Or joint ladies?? Where did that come from - was suppose to be morning ladies lol

BlueC2 · 15/03/2014 10:38

Oh dear-clothes overload! DH has taken DS out so thought I'd have a sort through my stash of newborn and 0-3m clothes and boy am I glad I have! I don't need to buy anything new! How we ended up with so much I have no idea!

As a taster I have:
Newborn-11 short sleeved babygrows,3 long sleeved, 13 full bodysuits, 3 short sleeved rompers, 1 shorts dungarees, 2 top+leggings sets plus lots of Grandma knitted cardigans

0-3m 16 short sleeved babygrows, 5 sleeveless, 6 long sleeved, 9 full bodysuits, 5 pairs trousers/joggers, plus 2 dungarees and various Grandma knitted cardigans

And that's just the neutral non boy specific stuff! Think I need to send a message to Grandparents and friends that unless we have a girl we really don't need anymore clothes!! So glad I checked all this as I'd already bought a couple of bits (new first outfit etc). In fairness most of it was used with DS as they do go through clothes quickly (sick, poo etc!) but I hardly bought any of the above-we got most of it as gifts when DS born!

BlueC2 · 15/03/2014 11:09

Oh and not to mention all the hats, bibs and socks I've just found too Blush I think I may now sneakily want a girl so that I have an excuse to go shopping again ;)

jbiscuits · 15/03/2014 11:32

pixie - thanks for the mothercare tip. Kiddicare have the same offer on at the moment. Annoyingly though the pram I want is excluded from both offers Sad
