Old thread is getting full so here's a nice new one for all our moaning, paranoia and getting each other through it. Can someone do the honers and copy our edd list over? Maybe link the old thread too?

(Forget = stop obsessing every second and obsess every 10 seconds instead)

ldt87 · 21/02/2014 09:08

Hi all, just checking in and marking the new thread. Feeling apprehensive after a week of being poorly, crampy and a small amount of light brown spotting. Hoping for the best as it's all gone away with only one day of spotting. Having sickness now and tender boobs so can only hope for the best. I have a scan next Friday when I should be 7+4. 6+4 today. How is everyone? Xx

mum2kiss · 21/02/2014 09:19

In my experience the worries do not lessen with kids..they just change! I swear ALL of my grey hair is due to all the worrying about dd. Ive even got grey eyelashes now!

Nct course prices are split into 3 bands: london, fringe and standard with london being the most expensive.

we registered an interest in an essentials course lasg night. It is £135 including nct membership and we live in the fringe band. I think it was £150 for london and £110 for standard.

I wanted to do the refresher course but it says you can't bring a partner so ive just gone for essential. The signature course looked to be around £230 - no way could I get dp on board with that! Plus I already have one dc so a lot of it is probably not needed for me.

TinyTear · 21/02/2014 09:30

i think i read the refresher in my area is 3 sessions - 2 just the woman and 3rd with a partner - which for me would be a bugger as I'd have to find someone to stay with my DD and we have no family nearby

magichandles · 21/02/2014 09:41

I was signed up to do NCT with DD but she decided to arrive before the course started, so we didn't do it in the end. Everyone in my area does NCT, so I have to say I really felt like I'd missed out by not doing it. I had the information I needed already, but I do feel I missed out on the support and readymade friends in the early days.

TinyTear · 21/02/2014 09:47

i was looking and my problem might be the refresher course has the last session on the 1st October and I am due on 8th to 12th (depending on lmp and early scan) and as I might want an ELCS it might end up sooner... i guess i could do some of the classes and miss the last one...

mum2kiss · 21/02/2014 09:55

tiny ive heard about babies attending their own antenatal classes before after showing up early! Must be very useful for tge expectant mums to speak to someone who literally just went through it

binkybunny · 21/02/2014 10:05

Morning all. Wow this thread is moving quick! 7+1 today and got my 12 week scan through for 27 March.

My mum craved cheeseburgers when expecting me so there must be sonething in them! My current craving is for battered scallops. I hate them normally its such a waste to batter scallops! I cant however satisfy this craving as shellfish is a no no and TBH I think deep fried anything would have my head down the toilet before the last mouthful!

mum2kiss · 21/02/2014 10:11

Shellfish is a no no?! I didn't realise that! I had prawns the weekend I got my bfp and had awful stomach cramps and indigestion for 3 days!

TinyTear · 21/02/2014 10:15

if the shellfish is fully cooked should be ok...

in portugal there is a saying where you shouldn't eat shellfish in months with no R in it (so May to August) so maybe stick to that?

binkybunny · 21/02/2014 10:40

The info I got from my GP said not to eat shellfish... I would be soooo happy if I could I love it and missed out on my fave surf and turf on Valentines Sad

Is it just raw shellfish then like oysters? I presumed its because they filter sea crap through them and are generally classed as high risk for food poisoning?

Hello! Alright if I join you?!

I'm due November first - but having had 3 sections will probably need another. I had to have it at 38 weeks last time as I went into labour with DS2 at 37 weeks - so will be in October this time. This will my 4th child but my first with DH.

We are SO excited. We were trying for 8 months and couldn't believe it had really happened this month! I got first BFP a few days ago and have had faint lines on FRERs since- getting darker though each day, but still very faint - which is fine as I'm not actually due on until tomorrow haha!

Boobs are KILLING and seem much bigger - bonus!
I am exhausted. Totally flat out. I have a chronic condition that causes me to be tired anyway but definitely worse now.
Very emotional! Which is understandable anyway. DH is working from home and the post just came and he e-mailed me to give me the good news that my previously abnormal smear has now gone back to normal. Perfect timing - though when I wrote back "fantastic news, so glad it won't impact [ridiculous name for the baby]" I actually nearly burst into tears as it made it feel real. I had to make my excuses at work to pop to the ladies!

How is everyone?

ohthegoats · 21/02/2014 10:41

I'll be honest, I never thought I'd have children, and I have little to no interest in other people's babies. I've got nephews who were both IVF, and even though the 'warts and all' detail was out there for my information right from pre-conception, I didn't engage with it at all. My main thought on pregnant women was that they always look so sort of bovine.. just calm with beatific smiles on otherwise expressionless faces. How awful of me!

Anyway, I now know that they look like that because sitting still and quiet with a frozen face, sort of zoning out of reality, is the only way to not puke/burp/fart/whinge about general pain and discomfort. I should have engaged with how pregnancy works, I am so fed up of feeling pants, I must be so frustrating for the bf, I'm no fun at all... and it's only 2 months. Urgh.

ohthegoats · 21/02/2014 10:48

Lucky you! I was already a 34GG... mentioned to bf last night that I might have to go bra shopping, to which his only response was 'maybe you should stop eating'. Punch.

magichandles · 21/02/2014 10:49

NHS Guidance on shellfish - www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/can-I-eat-shellfish-during-pregnancy.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=216

So no to raw shellfish, thoroughly cooked should be safe but apparently there may still be some toxins left after cooking so if you have any concerns you may prefer not to eat shellfish at all.

bumpbangbump · 21/02/2014 10:53

Shellfish is fine as long as cooked thoroughly. So NHS guidelines say anyway. So fish is bad in big quantities, swordfish and marlin comes to mind, due to high levels of murcury in them. There is actually very little you can't eat over in the UK. I think even cured meats are fine, which I avoided last time due to some bad information from someone else, so will be filling my boots this time.

Thanks magic had just told DH we were going to Oban for scallops... Maybe not then. Better to be safe!

ohthegoats your bf is brave! DH would not dare to suggest I stop eating. We have too many sharp knives in the kitchen Wink

akachan · 21/02/2014 10:55

Hi all.

I am out tonight with friends so they'll be very suspicious that I'm not drinking. I suppose I'll just need to ride it out!

mrsb87 · 21/02/2014 10:59

Would have definitely punched him ohthegoats! Dh is being super supportive and lookibg after me, with the hyperemesis its what I needed.
From what i understand you can have shellfish Binks aslong as its well cooked through. I am really missing a bacon and brie baguette!!! Not fancied a lot the past 2 weeks but can't get it out of my head.
8wks now! Its going quick, cant wait for my 12wk scan.

mrsb87 · 21/02/2014 11:00

What do you normally drink akachan?

akachan · 21/02/2014 11:02

I normally would have wine with dinner then rum and coke in a pub. So pub is probably OK but we're going out for a nice dinner! Maybe I'll just accept a glass of wine and not fill it up/ sip it really slowly.

Katqwaszx · 21/02/2014 11:02

Hi all. I'm 6+4 with some brown and red spotting with a little cramp. I've been finally referred to the EPU on Monday. This is my first and I don't know how to stay calm or positive 'til then! Sad

akachan · 21/02/2014 11:05

Hi Kat, I had the same a bit earlier and all seems well now. It's really hard to deal with though - I was a state. All you can do is try your best to be calm. Really good luck.

impatienceisavirtue · 21/02/2014 11:05

ohthegoats, punching definitely in order!

Mine disappeared after DS1 and only return when I'm doing the procreating thing. They're about a 34Cish normally, but during pg/bf - about an FF. DH has yet to see this phenomenon as it's our first, youngest DC with EXH is 4 1/2. I think he thinks I'm exaggerating the increase...
