Old thread is getting full so here's a nice new one for all our moaning, paranoia and getting each other through it. Can someone do the honers and copy our edd list over? Maybe link the old thread too?

OP posts:

Ohthegoats Oh well, do what the kids do when the head's away! Muck about! Put a DVD on for the pupils and browse Mumsnet for two hours :)

binkybunny · 05/03/2014 09:01

Morning all. Hope sicky people are feeling better than yesterday? I have my booking in apt today so have a nice lazy morning. Def feel better than yesterday but not really moved yet!

Ohthegoats I would second the dvd idea. Only thing for it really!

mrsb87 · 05/03/2014 09:06

Sorry to hear you're struggling ohthegoats, I hope you manage to get through the week ok. When you tell themthey might ttake some of the pressure off you which would make things easier for you.

I'm still at home, got down to vomiting only once a day at the moment. Still not managing to eat a lot so therefore my evergy levels are still really low and the dizziness is crazy!
Anyone else having a real hard time sleeping? I keep waking up and tossing and turning, I just can't get comfortable.

mrsb87 · 05/03/2014 09:09

Oh good luck binks, I have mine on Friday too!

binkybunny · 05/03/2014 09:25

mrsb I'm not sleeping great and constant tossing and turning is keeping DH up. We're just using it as training for when we have a newborn Grin

Cakebaker35 · 05/03/2014 09:38

Sorry to all those who are feeling rubbish, hope the sickiness passes for everyone soon. The tiredness is really tough to deal with, I'm struggling more this time as I'm running around after dd all day - pregnancy plus toddler is a bit of a killer!

binkybunny · 05/03/2014 10:12

cake I take my hat off to you. I could not cope with a toddler too. MS has just cemented my decision to stop at one child!

As I had lots of thinking time on my own yesterday I decided that I really, really want to move closer to my family. DH however is adamant we stay here as we have made great friends and we only did a big move 2 years ago. He enjoys his job and we are in the Scottish mountains. I love it here too but even with good friends its not the same as having family close by. We could live in the Yorkshire Dales so dont need to lose the amazing countryside.

AIBU to try and push this when he really wants to stay here? I'm worried about being lonely when on mat leave and that our child wont get to know their grandparents very well.

mrsb87 · 05/03/2014 11:00

binky I know how you feel. My mum is 100miles awayand I really wish I could move closer to home. Unfortunately dh's business is based up here so its seriously unlikely. Miss my mumma when I'm going through stuff like this.

binkybunny · 05/03/2014 11:19

Awww Mrsb it must be awful with you being off work so much too! One day on the sofa on my own was enough to start driving me insane.

The company DH works for has several places within an hours drive from my parents so I'm sure there would be the option to move. I don't want either of us to be unhappy so its hard to know what to do.

mrsb87 · 05/03/2014 11:33

Its been pretty lonely to be honest, I've just been signed off for another 2 weeks now too. I'm really missing my job! Can't wait to go back.
It sounds like you have a few options then binky he probably just thinks you're being a typical hormonal pregnant women!

bythesea82 · 05/03/2014 12:52

Mrsb, hope the sickness starts to pass and you can get back out there soon!

Just had booking in appointment with the midwife, all fine, next appointment at 12 weeks (hopefully). Scan on Monday due to previous mc & large cyst. Scared already....

mrsb87 · 05/03/2014 15:28

Thanks bythesea only being sick first thing now or if I try and do too much in a day. Hense not going back to work as I will be at square one again!

Good luck with your scans!

PunkyBubba · 05/03/2014 15:58

We were told to refer to the 'birth plan' for DS as our 'birth preferences'. Makes more sense than thinking of it as a 'plan' thats set in stone. I found ours very helpful for me to think through what I wanted the birth to be like, and we had a lot of help from our hypnobirthing instructor. I'm planning to use the same document this time too. The midwives read the preferences and were brilliant at following them, maybe as we were in a quiet midwife led unit rather than busy hospital.

Binky I can only speak from my own experience, but I found having family nearby (DH's family) worth its weight in gold, not just for babysitting, but for support in emergencies (both DH and I have separately had hospital stays in the last year and needed their help), and now for help and support as being pregnant with no 2 while dealing with DS is pretty hard! I dearly wish my own family lived closer too as the more help the better in my experience. Then again I would not leave DS with anyone apart from family, whereas I know other people have other support networks so there are always other options I guess.

CareBearWithFangs · 05/03/2014 16:51

Another one here who really appreciates having family nearby. DP's mum is 5 mins away and is a godsend babysitting wise. Although saying that my mum is also nearby but is fairly useless most of the time so maybe it depends on the family member not the distance.

Feeling so much better today! Whoop! No vomiting at all. I'm not sure if it's the tablets or just that whenever I feel really tired/sick I sit down. Whereas last week I was just trying to push through it and ending up feeling awful.

Glad your feeling a bit better mrsb Smile

Cakebaker35 · 05/03/2014 17:08

I don't have family near by and definitely wish I did. Mil is 3hrs away and my parents just under 2 hrs away. They are both great at helping where possible but it all needs to be planned ahead due to distance, so any emergencies are a bit scary. I have a couple of friends I could call on but as they also have children they can't just drop everything plus dh works about an hour away so it can be v tricky sometimes. Binky, your dh may well change his mind about moving once the little person arrives...

officelady · 05/03/2014 17:09

Afternoon ladies, I have just read through all the millions of messages since I last posted, it seems that the sickness is starting to ease off for some of us which is definitely a good thing, there must be some good placenta action going on! I am just waiting for the day when I don't fall asleep by 8pm Confused
ohthegoats I hope you survived your day, how very dare your headteacher AND your TA phone in sick! I would have gone and locked myself in a cupboard until the end of the day!
Had a mad day at work today, came back to my desk after being away for literally 5 minutes to find that someone had put a dead frog wrapped in a duster on it. Oh the joys of working in a primary school office Confused

I have got my first scan tomorrow night (a private one), and have properly got The Fear. Wishing away the hours so I can get it over and done with. I still cannot believe there is an actual baby inside me. Luckily (I think?) I've got a really full on day at work tomorrow and a meeting straight afterwards so I'll be too busy to worry about it. I probably won't sleep tonight though.

binkybunny · 05/03/2014 18:46

officelady best of luck for tomorrow. I'm sure it will all go ok.

Had my booking in today. In and out in less than half an hour. Hate having blood taken but it wasnt too bad and I'm classed as low risk at the mo Smile

Thank you to the replies re moving. I'm just going to have to bide my time and keep putting my case forward gently.

Glad to hear sickness was better today carebear only had gagging and nausea today. Went into work after midwife apt and everyone was surprisingly nice to me! Dreading doing a full day tomorrow though. Ready for bed already!

BlueberryPoppy123 · 05/03/2014 19:17

Mrsb I'm not sleeping so well halfway through the night I start overheating then once I finally get back off DS starts crying cakebaker is right about having a toddler being a killer... Still can't whine too much he'll settle back to sleep once he's in my bed... Probably not the best thing with a new baby on the way but I miss our co sleeping days...

I am another who would be lost without my family being close my mum lives opposite me and my auntie lives about 10 houses down, my sister just brought a house 10 mins away too... Have another auntie opposite and 5 doors down were very close... Partner hates it but I'm the one whose home alone a lot and need that suppor network.

ALSO!!! Just got off the phone with a private scanning company, £70 for a viability scan! But worth every penny... Booked in for Friday evening hoping at 8w3d it will be a simple abdominal scan rather than dildo cam... Terrified of that!

ikeaismylocal · 05/03/2014 19:35

Good luck with the upcoming scans :) Don't be affraid of dildo cam blueberry it really doesn't hurt, I found dildo cam more comfy than them pushing the scanning probe thing into my tummy!

My family live in a different country but ds still has a really close bond with my mum, she visits and we stay with her so when we see her ds sees her all day every day. Skype is also great!

pebble82 · 05/03/2014 20:14

Had my booking in today too. Low risk which is good and got my scan date of 27th March. Midwife was lovely and was very kind about my weight (bmi is 27 which I thought would mean a telling off but apparently not).

Still nervous but every day is a decrease in mc risk so looking on the positive side. Mild cramping/twinges still but less nausea today.

Glad some of you are feeling better. Sorry to those still suffering.

Pregnantagain7 · 05/03/2014 20:21

Hi everyone feel really rubbish tonight am 8 weeks tom and feel so crampy and achey, also feel like a donkey has kicked me between the legs! Anyone else felt like this? Or is it just me being odd?!:)

MundayCakes85 · 05/03/2014 20:35

Evening ladies, just got home from a mega busy shift. Sorry to those still feeling awful, I can't imagine how hard it is to throw up every time you move Sad
Apparently neither my mum or nan got MS so it must fun in the family!
Got my 12 week scan tomorrow!!! I seriously doubt I'm 12 weeks but I'm looking forward to it/ dreading it in equal parts. Scan at 9.30am so over and done with nice and early.

fatpony · 05/03/2014 20:39

Got my booking in appointment by post today for 7 April which is very exciting but I'll be 12 weeks by then so no idea when the scan will be! Over a month to wait, boooo

ldt87 · 05/03/2014 20:46

I am officially booked in with my midwife now, she's dated me a couple of days out from what my scan page so we'll see what the 12 week scan says.

Still feeling very nervous, trying not to get my hopes up, I am 8 weeks 4 days today. My 12 week scan is the 31st of March and cannot come quick enough. How is everyone doing? Xx

ldt87 · 05/03/2014 20:48
