Old thread is getting full so here's a nice new one for all our moaning, paranoia and getting each other through it. Can someone do the honers and copy our edd list over? Maybe link the old thread too?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
thegirlwhouk · 28/02/2014 18:26

Hi all! I am here, reading everyones posts, keeping up to date. So tired after work I can't even move my fingers to type.

Tonight I seem to have some energy which is nice, perhaps just the promise of the weekend has cheered me up!

fatpony we have the exact same here. Scan and Appt on the same day. Our hospital is a v busy London one. C'est la vie! I've heard the care is good so I'm happy to wait for good care. It is why we decided to pay for a private scan. 12 weeks with nothing at all seemed very daunting!!!

We have our private early scan tomorrow. I should by my calculations be 7+5, as opposed to 7+1. I'm interested to see how correct that is! Feeling quite excited :-)

Cakebaker35 · 28/02/2014 18:36

Ohthegoats I'd definitely go for location as making some local buddies is great. I think you said you were in Oxford, feel free to pm me if you like as I'm close by.

Cakebaker35 · 28/02/2014 18:38

Ohthegoats - Plus travelling to the other side of town for classes once you're v v pregnant might be pretty tiring - we did evening classes and they were only down the road but I was super tired it was hard to drag myself there sometimes.

ldt87 · 28/02/2014 18:50

Just wanted to let everyone know I had a reassurance scan today, all looks well and I was dated 7+6 so due 11th of October. I have a cyst onmy left ovary which may be responsible for the aches I've been having but is no reason to worry apparently. Roll on 12 week scan now xx

pebble82 · 28/02/2014 19:16

Glad to hear all is well ldt87. Did you have to pay privately for that scan? I'm getting scan envy but DP doesn't want to pay for one as we're pretty tight on money right now and need to save for the future.

BumpNGrind · 28/02/2014 19:20

Hi ladies, hope your all feeling well and those with the horrible symptoms are finding that they ease up this weekend. Dh and I have flown away for a weekend away, it was supposed to be a boozy jolly (didn't think we'd catch on the 2nd month)but it's going to be a fun alcohol free time away for us now. Luckily i haven't felt tired or sick but my hips are finding it hard with lots of city concrete.

We were walking through the shopping centre earlier and saw personalised baby grows and just melted so ended up getting one made up with baby surname on it. We're both worried about tempting fate but I'm choosing to think positive thoughts.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's caved in and bought something for the baby.

BumpNGrind · 28/02/2014 19:21

Pebble, our baby scan was only 20, shop around you may find they are cheaper than you think.

pebble82 · 28/02/2014 19:25

oh wow, that's really good. What company was that? X

fatpony · 28/02/2014 19:28

Thegirlwhouk can I ask how much roughly is your private scan? My DH is upset a bit more than me about having to wait so long with no assurance etc and was mentioning one the other day. Are the clinics etc quite used to people wanting early scans? Thanks

ldt87 · 28/02/2014 19:37

I had my scan at the gynaecological assessment unit so didn't have to pay. I just called, explained my concerns about cramping and spotting and they booked me in so it's worth a try xx

thegirlwhouk · 28/02/2014 19:47

Pony - yeah of course - we're going with a company called Baby Bond and private scans are their main business! The initial early scan is what we are having and you have them between 7-11 weeks. We are paying £99. I think we already paid a small deposit and will pay the rest tomorrow.

www.ultrasound-direct.com/babybond-pregnancy-scans/

We have lots of their centres near us and I know people who have used them.

SweetPeaPods · 28/02/2014 19:49

NCT classes definitely worth it imo. Go for location really as you won't won't to travel too far when your all having your meet ups. Our group had due dates 6 weeks apart. Some babies were early, most were late so that changes things.
We meet up every wk which is great.
The classes are good too but does depend on your teacher. We didn't really bond well as a group until after the classes ended, where we replaced our NCT class by a visit to the pub!

lilystem · 28/02/2014 19:53

Hi everyone. I'm 6 weeks ish with DC2. DC1 is currently 13 months. Due date according to online calculators is Oct 24th.

Some v funny posts on this thread. Moves fast though, hard to keep up!

Just to add to the food - I'm an egg farmer and have eaten a lot of runny eggs! There's some advice on the Lion code website here. www.egginfo.co.uk/eggs-and-pregnancy

Basically, all UK farmers have to vaccinate their flocks against Salmonella. (which is the risk to eating runny egg.) we also have a lot of very strict audits via a number of official bodies and regular salmonella tests.

Hope that helps someone!

binkybunny · 28/02/2014 20:10

Hi all. So jealous of those with NCT classes near by. Mine is an hours drive away and only 3 sessions one of which is my sister wedding :-(

Bump we bought a swing crib the day before our bfp. It was a great deal and is now discontinued so we took the chance. Have also got a few baby bits while out shopping so we can spread the cost and just got too excited :-)

ohthegoats · 28/02/2014 20:28

Nothing for a baby in this house. Nothing for a pregnant woman either since I just discovered that the freezer hasn't been working properly, so the mint choc chip icecream I've been thinking about all day has gone all runny...

Boo.

Thanks cakebaker, will go local if we get that far! Cheers.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 28/02/2014 21:20

Been off for a few hours... And feel like I've missed loads out for a girlie night tonight awkward where I'm not drinking... Told them I have water infection... Getting questioned like mad think their onto me :( hate lying... My best friend knows and is trying to help me out... I even researched medicine lol

Grannyapple · 28/02/2014 23:17

Crikey this thread moves so bloody fast.. Not much happening here except I.CAN'T.STOP.BLOODY.EATING!!
Picked up some prepared fruit & a yoghurt for breakfast tomorrow so that I can least start the day with good intentions...

Plus I always get thrush in pregnancy so need to up my yoghurt consumption & ditch the chocolate bars (canny beat a snickers when I'm pg!).

olilos · 01/03/2014 00:33

Bump i am also desperately avoiding work drinks, but i actually have my own leaving do from work next week, which i of course need to go to. Need to come up with subtle ways to avoid drinking all night... Any suggestions?? I will be starting my new one when i'll be 12 weeks along! Eeeeekkkk. As if first trimester wasn't stressful enough huh....

lilystem · 01/03/2014 06:06

Wisdom teeth antibiotics is always a good one!

Kittylou1 · 01/03/2014 07:00

Hi all, how long does a booking in appointment take? Im in lincolnshire and I phoned up for a appointment they said it would take 20 mins. Is this about right as other people have told me it rakes longer? X

officelady · 01/03/2014 07:19

Hi Kitty I have been told to expect it to take up to an hour because of all the form filling, blood tests and booking future appointments/scans but it will vary from area to area depending on how much they cover at the booking in appointment. I would rather only be there for 20 mins to be honest! I've got mine on Monday so I'll post an update on how long it actually took.
I'm in a bit of a tizz this morning because I weighed myself and I've lost a pound. Have been eating LOADS this week and haven't been sick so not sure what that's about. Am off to Aldi in a minute to stock up on my favourite icecreams and trifles, that ought to sort it out Grin

Kittylou1 · 01/03/2014 07:38

Me too I just can't stop eating. I get hunger pangs which make me feel sick. Im also off to aldi. Getting ready for Saturday shopping mayhem. Dont worry I think its quite common to loose a bit of weight in the 1st trimester. Your body is working super hard!??

Cakebaker35 · 01/03/2014 08:12

Best tip re. drinks - have a lime and soda, this looks like g&t so people are none the wiser. If someone wants to buy you a drink just say oh I think I'll have a soft one this time to pace myself/because I had a heavy night the other night etc. Using antibiotics as a reason is a bit like wearing a badge saying I'm pregnant Grin

Also booking in appointment - yes also told to allow 1 hr. I seem to remember last time there was so much form filling plus they do blood, urine, weight etc etc.

I'm 9 wks today!

ohthegoats · 01/03/2014 08:17

Went to bed with the rage, have woken up with the rage.Only two months in and I'm already furious about how this is affecting my life. I'm bored of feeling sick, bored of being too tired to go out, I want a martini, I want to not feel confined to the sofa by being so exhausted. I feel so little like 'me' I can't believe it.

Raaaaaah.. if they don't want to get shouted at or cried on, everyone better stay out of my way today (this will be easy, all they have to do is take a wide berth around the sofa)

BexBoo12 · 01/03/2014 08:36

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me popping over from September thread - I iust wanted to see how you are all getting on and how you're all feeling xx
