Old thread is getting full so here's a nice new one for all our moaning, paranoia and getting each other through it. Can someone do the honers and copy our edd list over? Maybe link the old thread too?

KensalM2B · 23/02/2014 10:54

Thinking of you Impatience, I'm so sorry. Best of luck.

Just catching up on the last few days here - lot's going on! Really intrigued about cloth nappies.

Like lots of others, I also just heard about my first antenatal appointment (4th April). I'll be 11 weeks then... do you think it will include the scan? I'm booked into the Woodfield Road Centre in London, which serves St Mary's Paddington and Queen Charlotte hospitals. Not sure which of these to pick.

Right ,that's it, I'm getting a cheeseburger today. Another night of pregnancy insomnia, and when I did nod off I woke up 3 times to pee, I'm always starving and so exhausted I can barely make it through a day without needing a nap, my boobs are killing me and and DH away with work all week, so no one to fuss over me. I. Deserve. A. Cheeseburger.

KensalM2B · 23/02/2014 10:56

Just saw your message, Katqwaszx. That's so sad. Fingers crossed for you in the future. Thinking of you.

I'm hoping to still be in ladies but have my doubts. Had a bright red bleed on Thursday night lasted about 5 minutes. No pain or clots though. Rang out of hours and they told me to go to a and e. Not really sure why told to go here as all they did was book me a scan for Monday morning. Since that first 5 minutes brown blood has come out in fits and starts. No cramping or clots however my sickness seems to have disappeared (8 weeks today) and my books don't seem as sore. Hope I'm just reading too much into it and maybe these pregnancy symptoms have just calmed down, as never had any when oh with my little boy.

The wait for the morning is driving me mad though and depending on what I read google is either my best friend or enemy!

Any one had anything similar and been ok? When I had mc in Nov once the bright red bleeding started so did the cramps and clots and didn't stop for 5 hours so I'm really hoping it's not the same. Also if it doesn't work this time we aren't going to try again as can't keep going through these emotions and the application between any others and our little man will be just too big.

Phew that was longer than expected x

FlipFantasia · 23/02/2014 12:05

Kat so sorry to hear that Hmm. Take car xx

Vicky that sounds v stressful. Fingers crossed it's good news tomorrow.

MrsF also feeling rough here - my afternoon/evening nausea is now pretty much anytime when I'm awake.

Things that help:

opening a can of sprite zero as I fall asleep and then sipping it when I wake up (a few times a night). I was really struggling at these times and getting up first thing with my older kids and this is helping.

Crackers and small bits of cheese - I've always loved my cheddar!

Slices of apple - I can't stomach biting into an apple (weirdly) but am loving slices.

Rice Krispies - this has been my main food stuff for weeks!! I hadn't eaten them in years...

This is all subject to whims and fancy and can change from day to day (except for Rice Krispies).

Me23 · 23/02/2014 12:21

Hey everyone
Was just wondering where we are all based? I'm in London and always have been now in southwest London but grew up in nw London.

However my partners family are in South Somerset and Dorset we are considering moving there as with 3 Dcs we will need family around us.

We are thinking of frome also Sherborne. However will have to wait until I'm on maternity leave the. Try to find another job with the nhs by the time my mat leave is up so I don't have to pay any back.

Bumpforme2014 · 23/02/2014 12:34

Very sorry for impatience and kat :-(

Hi me23 I am based in East London but grew up in south west London and family still there! we are moving to Scotland next year for same reasons as you! DH family are up there and would be on our doorstep, London is a nightmare for bringing up kids unless your family live round corner it takes me an hour to get to mine from East London so will probably find myself on my own a lot with young baby.

CareBearWithFangs · 23/02/2014 12:35

Good luck for tomorrow Vicky. Really hope everything is ok.

I am in North Yorkshire. From Lancashire originally. This is such a lovely town to raise young children in.

I feel awful today! I can't find the travel sickness bands I know we have somewhere, keep heaving and heaving but no actual being sick. Sorry for tmi. DD is out with her grandma and I really need to use the time to get stuff done but I'm just sat on the sofa feeling sorry for myself while poor DP runs around.

ohthegoats · 23/02/2014 12:59

We're in Oxford. My parents are about 40 minutes away (we've just moved away from a town 5 minutes from them, doh), his parents are in Manchester. We like Oxford, so hopefully we'll stay here, but I guess if we need help, it will be from my parents rather than his and we'd move back in that direction.

My brother's kids have a really close relationship with my mum (and their other grandparents), and since they are around all the time, it feels more of a normal relationship - behaviour management doesn't seem odd coming from all adults etc, unlike the relationship they'd have with grandparents if they only saw them once a month as a special treat sort of thing.

BlueberryPoppy123 · 23/02/2014 14:08

:) just posted on the old thread before I noticed new one... I'm a newbie to mumsnet hi guys :)

puppythedog · 23/02/2014 14:31

Hi all,
thanks for the posts about reusable nappies, I'll pm those who offered further advice a bit later on if that's okay. I also realise it's too soon for some people to be thinking about that far ahead. I guess for me because I don't have the level of literal physical attachment you have my anxiety is so intangible and it's settle don the finances for now.

Very sad to read that some poeple have had bad news and we sincerely hope that they find the success they were looking for.

To those with early interventions an dinvestigations good luck.

We are in Essex having moved her back in August to be near mrsthedog's family ready for babies. I'm from Gloucester which is where we lived until 5 months ago.

mrsb87 · 23/02/2014 14:54

Hi blueberry! How far along are you? Edd?

I'm originally from Gloucestershire but live in Shropshire now. Moved as dh runs his business from here but I do miss my mumma, especially now I'm having a baby and wish I could move back

magichandles · 23/02/2014 16:46

Sorry to those who have had losses.

Afternoon, I'm 5+2 (I think - I'm never 100% sure whether you count that +1 bit as being the complete day or the day you are on if that makes sense) and starting to feel really knackered - I don't remember feeling this tired with my last 2. I made myself go to the gym this afternoon and it was bloody hard work.

I'm determined not to pile on the lbs this pregnancy though - I had GD with both my previous DC and I found the later stages of my last pregnancy really hard work.

Is anyone else trying to limit the amount of weight they put on? My BMI isn't terrible (27.2) but I remember my diabetic consultant saying last time that even half a stone could make a big difference to the severity of GD. I'm pretty much exactly the same weight I was when I fell pregnant with DC2.

magichandles · 23/02/2014 16:47

Oh, and I'm in South (East) London.

ikeaismylocal · 23/02/2014 17:11

I'm sorry to hear that some of the group have experienced losses or are having a worrying time, my thoughts are with you.

Hello blueberry :)

loopylou I don't think I would choose any further testing if my nucal results were high so it would just add possibly unfounded worries to my pregnancy.

I'm also exhausted, we are all ds is needing lots of attention and almost constant breastfeeds, up until this week he's been a really a really easily pleased child, it's making me wonder how we are going to cope with a newborn too, but lots of people do it, so it can't be impossible :)

binkybunny · 23/02/2014 17:18

Hi all we're based in Scotland nr Perth. Moved here 2 years ago from Jersey to be closer to my parents but they are still a 5 hour drive. We have great friends here already but we are considering moving down to Yorkshire. I dont want to live round the corner from my parents but would love to be around an hours drive. We'll be waiting until after the birth now though so it doesnt affect my MP.

magic I am desperately trying not to put on weight as my bmi is 29 so far too high. I just cant exercise without wanting to throw up or faint and eating has just to be what I can at the moment. Which is nainly crackers with the odd bacon sarnie. I'm really sensitive to sugar anyway and diabetes runs in my family so I think GD will prob happen. Thankfully sweet things are not going down too well so other than cordial which I have the tinest drop of in a pint of water my sugar intake is quite low.

Good on you for getting to the gym, longish walks are tge most I'm managing. Going to get swimming as soon as chlorine agrees witg my stomach! How's everyone elses exercise going?

binkybunny · 23/02/2014 17:19

Sorry for the bad spelling, typing on my phone!

TroubleAndFyfe · 23/02/2014 17:29

Presumably it's okay for those who want to to continue to talk about nappies and slings and those who want to talk about nausea and treatments can do that?
Carebear, this early on, if you're thinking preloved I'd try freecycle! See what you can get from there first. Otherwise, yes, eBay or Facebook are good for bundles. The great thing about planning it now is that you have plenty of time to pick up bargains. Great you and your DD loved the ergo! I have always wrapped (still do every day at 2) so had a stretchy wrap when DS was a baby which are very affordable (£20 ish) and apparently easy to feed in. I didn't manage with him but had to feed in very specific positions due to lip ties. I'll be trying with the stretchy this time. A friend of mine said it's particularly easy with a hip carry - she feeds on the school run! Smile
Interesting to see where everyone is based. I'm in East Sussex.

pebble82 · 23/02/2014 17:29

Totally shattered here too. Been working all weekend on my feet and back in the office tomorrow. Might be time to tell my boss as feeling a bit sick too so don't want to have to help with the heavy lifting of stock tomorrow.

Feeling guilty now too as was forced to drink half a lager today. Stupid I know but just don't want to cause anything to go wrong.

ohthegoats · 23/02/2014 17:44

pebble - I told my midwife yesterday about drinking champagne on my birthday and she laughed. So don't panic too much.

The week before I knew I was pregnant (although I think I already had an inkling, was just in denial), I had two pints of Leffe and a double amaretto on ice on the Friday, then half a bottle of red on the Sunday. Since then I've had a few sips of cider with brandy in it, and shared a half pint of stout with the boyfriend. I'm a bad person Wink

TroubleAndFyfe · 23/02/2014 17:46

Don't feel guilty Pebble, half a lager is within the recommended limits, it won't do any damage. Sounds like it might be an idea to tell your boss though- you need to look after yourself!

TroubleAndFyfe · 23/02/2014 17:50

I drank quite a lot before I knew I was pregnant and have had a shandy and a small wine since. I was positively angelic the first time and didn't have a single drink until my third trimester.
I didn't even know cider with brandy was a thing?!Shock

pebble82 · 23/02/2014 17:54

Phew, thanks all. I know deep down it's fine. Back in the day women used to smoke and drink all the time so one beer isn't going to do much.

puppythedog · 23/02/2014 18:27

I've spent the day looking at the re-usable nappies and without any reason I feel like the all in ones without inserts would be better. Are they? How do I know which ones are best? Thinking we've got time to buy a couple a month until Shrodenburg comes along.
