Thanks all, you're all so friendlySmile

Oh crap...furniture...bedding?! I have huge problems Shock

We did just have a trip around ikea and bought a rug for baby's room...that's all they need right?!
Nanny I am with you on being out of breath, ikea nearly killed me!

Ok so I'm off to panic make lists and do stuff!!

Minions · 26/02/2014 22:12

Welcome owl, don't panic :) My sister was born while my parents stuff was in storage. She slept in a drawer to begin with until they got their cot etc out! Bit overwhelming - it's a whole new world shopping for baby stuff. For the big things like car seat, buggy etc I've found the online which magazine really helpful. You can trial for £1 and there's loads of reviews/best buys. Good luck :)

Bornin1984 · 26/02/2014 22:18

I don't think I've had movements today. getting fed up of this lack of movements !!!

PixieBumbles · 26/02/2014 22:23

clearly I just described the pain to my GP. He didn't examine me at all and I had an appointment at the local physiotherapy unit within a week. Hopefully things will move as quickly for you!

bushprincess I'm in west Devon but from Cornwall originally (from Helston actually) so my options are Derriford or the midwife led unit at Okehampton hospital.

MrsFooCough · 27/02/2014 04:22

I am so sick of not being able to sleep for more than an hour or so at a time. And when I do manage to sneak more than an hour, I have HORRIBLY VIVID DREAMS. Tonight's bonanza was that I was in a pharmacy, at night time, and outside waiting in the car were my mum and my grandpa (who is actually dead in real life) and then I see out of the window that there's a white bright mushroom cloud and I hear my grandpa yell out "get back in the car" so I run outside but they can't get the doors open so I stand there crying hysterically. Aaaaaaaaand Wake Up.

So that's fun. I hope you guys are sleeping well/soundly, and not needing too many pee breaks Smile

ClearlyMoo · 27/02/2014 04:29

Waves at Mrs FC! Second loo break, wide awake. Vivid dream had random peeps from my past and some film stars in a conference centre come convent. Yes. Complete bonkers. Slept from 9.45-11.50, 12-4.15 ooh so I've had my six hours... Might squeeze another 1.5 in. Bit hungry but downstairs feels like Everest at the moment!

OP posts:
MasterFlea · 27/02/2014 05:38

Ugh, the dreams are terrible. I'm having nightmares about my waters breaking too early.

On the plus side. My referral to the hospital was cancelled. The head honcho said that being 2cm dilated and having a ripe cervix was normal for women on subsequent pregnancies. My midwife said she'll ask the doctor to check me again in a month.

29 weeks today.

bushprincess · 27/02/2014 06:15

glad to hear they are happy that you're ok flea!

clearly great you can get seen so quickly - hope this mornings appointment gets you a rapid physio referal and things are dealt with quickly... horrid horrid.

mrsfoo haha - I'm also getting crazy dreams, often quite horrid too - wake up alot but do seem to get back to sleep quickly

pixie hope you come to a decision you're happy about between the 2 options... (though so sad to hear you've defected over the boarder... I mean OK I'm in Zim - but a Cornish girl in DEVON... !! I'm shocked Wink

rebeccax2 · 27/02/2014 06:23

Welcome owl
Great to hear a different view about tiredness Xavielli I feel like I can't say a thing at the moment as I don't know anything about anything apparently. Grrrr!

Just starting to get my sh*t together regarding the baby stuff and nursery etc.

Work is really busy right now, but I can't believe I have 9 weeks to go. 9 WEEKS! Is that crazy? I'm working until 19 days before my DD and my friend at work who is 8 weeks ahead of me is massive, and I'm starting to wonder if I should leave a little earlier.

dobedobedo · 27/02/2014 07:22

Glad I'm not the only one getting freaky dreams!
bornin did you call your mw again about lack of movements?
My baby hasn't been moving very much the past day. I have to really concentrate and then I'll feel some. They're defo there, just not v strong. Makes me think he's transverse again. No head or bum stuck up in my ribs making me super uncomfortable so that must be what it is.

loopylou52 · 27/02/2014 08:17

Sorry to see a few of you were up in the night. I'm lucky in that I usually manage to get back to sleep reasonably easily. My main problem is not going to bed early enough, which is my own fault I know - I get really panicky and frustrated with myself as it gets late and I'm not in bed yet!

Clearly - I can't imagine the gp examining you and definitely not internally. The most 'intimate' the physio examinations have got is her feeling around the pubic bone at the front, but with knickers on. And also massaging hips and inner thighs. Fingers crossed your appointment gets you referred quickly.

Bornin1984 · 27/02/2014 08:29

I went to hospital at 1130 last night and was home at 4! They struggled to find him last night! I have to ring at 9 as I've to speak to my consultant and have a growth and Doppler scan!

Fed up now

impatientlywaiting · 27/02/2014 08:48

Bornin that must have been so scary when they struggled to find him. Glad that they did in the end and that it sounds like you are getting properly monitored.

Got a midwife appointment in an hours time. 31+1 today.

Bornin1984 · 27/02/2014 08:49

My poor dh snoozes throughout the ctg! I taking him to work then gonna go in! I can't deal with the stress of not feeling him when I should
Be! 3rd episode of reduced movements! I know a lot
Of it is down to bmi but it's stressing me out

Spirael · 27/02/2014 08:55

PixieBumbles, your dislike of hospitals sounds similar to mine. I didn't fancy being shoved in a car while having contractions and I also didn't want to be stuck on a ward and my DH have to leave me after visiting hours, when I was likely to be tired, emotional, sore and a bit overwhelmed!

Also, a waterbirth isn't usually guarenteed at hospital, as they often only have one or two available and only a few staff trained for it. I didn't want to take the risk of it not being available to me at the time. At your home, it's your pool and they can't stop you from hopping in if you feel like it. Wink

Are you a house or a flat? Is it modern or old? They don't usually recommend having birthing pools upstairs in older/rickety houses, not sure about flats though as the floors might well be stronger. You could always see about getting a structural engineer to come and check it out.

We had a solid frame pool last time on the ground floor of our floorboarded house and it was absolutely fine. (We've moved since then and the ground floor is concrete now.) Recommendation is to put it in a corner if possible, as the floor frame is likely to be stronger there.

You can get inflatable pools, including smaller ones, which might suit you better if space is a premium? They are meant to inflate pretty quickly. The MW's don't need that much space to work in, babies are sometimes accidentally born in tiny bathrooms and they manage to cope. Wink The main thing the MW's need is a table/worksurface to set out their kit.

I had a home water birth with my first and I was probably about the same as you with BMI. None of the MWs batted an eye. The birth was very quick and easy, I needed some stitches but they did them at home for me. At one point I had four MWs attending to me - bet I wouldn't have gotten that ratio of care at hospital! Grin

If you're thinking of a home birth, I'd go with that and tell your MW that's what you'd prefer. It's much easier to switch from having a home birth to going to hospital or the MLU later on than it is to switch to having a home birth at the last minute!

Hope everything goes ok with the consultant later, Bornin.

ClearlyMoo · 27/02/2014 09:00

Oh BornIn thinking of you!

Ummmm stupid question from ClearlyMoo #101...

I'm off to see GP this pm. I should take mat.notes and wee sample, yes!?

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 27/02/2014 09:22

Thinking of you bornin, reduced movements is horrible. Thankfully after the third time mini moom hasn't done it since!

I would, Clearly, just in case.

I wish universities did maternity leave. I could do with it right now Grin up late last night again with horrible pains in my scar, it was originally just on the right side but now it's all the way across - feels like stabbing and burning at the same time and makes me feel sick Sad

Midwife today.... nervous because I have no idea what to say. So tired and sore and emotional right now I have visions of me throwing myself at her feet and begging 'Please don't make it stay in any longer than it has to'... really can't take this much longer Sad any tips?

31+3

moobaloo · 27/02/2014 10:55

Moomin, throw yourself at her feet if you feel the need, she will understand how bad it is and take things seriously. I'm sure it's happened to her before!

Thinking of you bornin xx

Does anyone know how many movements we should feel a day? I've not started counting yet but dp read you should feel 10 movements every two hours? I def don't feel that during daytime, not sure if I don't notice or if he doesn't move much. I might get a few if I sit down and eat, more wriggles than kicks usually, but most movement is in evening or first thing in the morning, when i get plenty. This seems to be his normal pattern though so I'm not worried, just wondering what others patterns are?

I just lurked on the February thread! Lots of birth stories so not ideal reading for nervous types BUT one lady had her baby within an hour of being in established labour, which sounds good to me as I don't want to be hanging around for ages in the hospital!

28+3

Bornin1984 · 27/02/2014 11:01

I haven't had any movements since 2am this morning!!

dobedobedo · 27/02/2014 11:10

bornin did they have a reason why your baby wasn't being very active? Could it just be the baby's position?

wm3010 · 27/02/2014 11:16

moobaloo I read the 10 kicks thing is no longer current anyway, it is more about your baby's routine as you say. Mine is also more active at night and first thing, although some of that is probably because I am paying more attention and also possibly that it's easier to feel when I'm lying down. I am aware of movement during the day too, it's just that I am busy at work so not able to think about it as much.

loopylou52 · 27/02/2014 11:18

Hope you get some reassurances today bornin, sounds scary.

I think I've read that they don't focus so much on counting kicks these days and it being more about noticing a change in baby's normal pattern. I get most of my movements in the evening and early morning too, presumably because I'm resting
more at those times.

moomin - the only advice I can think of is to write everything down in advance that you want to say or ask. Sometimes emotions get in the way of remembering everything you wanted to talk about. Is your dp able to come with you for support too?

Bornin1984 · 27/02/2014 11:30

My scan is at half two, but they reckon he is head down! I only get 1-3 movements a day!

I reckon a lot down to my massive bmi :-( if they tell me that's the reason then it's selfish of me even to have this baby!!

dobedobedo · 27/02/2014 11:48

bornin don't say things like that - it's not selfish to have a baby! My bmi is over 30 - there's lots of us in the high bmi camp with all the extra gtt testing and weight watching that entails.

Could it be the position of the placenta?

My cousin had a baby almost a year ago and she never once felt any movements, and it was her second baby! She felt movements with her first baby. And her bmi was (at a guess) probably about 30 or a bit less. Don't blame yourself.

Bornin1984 · 27/02/2014 12:22

Placenta is at the back - I guess sometimes there's no reasons
Behind it is there HmmHmmHmm
