feduplady · 03/06/2008 11:33

Hi All

Went for another scan yesterday. They said my follicles haven't done much so got to go back again on Monday. Think it may look like I might have to go on a stronger dose next month if there is no change at the next scan

Hope everyone is OK and keep your chins up
xx

Angel008 · 03/06/2008 12:11

Lorelei97 · 05/06/2008 15:32

My doc advised me no intercourse until day 10 because of a condition caused hyper-stimulation that can can lead to multiple pregnancies

haylz · 05/06/2008 21:42

that can happen anyway whilst on clomid so i wouldnt worry 2 much bout it and jus do wat u think is rite x

feduplady · 06/06/2008 09:36

Hi Angel008 - This is my first month of taking Clomid and yes its 50g. Went for reflexology this week too and she has tried to stimulate the area of foot that relates to my ovaries so fingers crossed for Monday.

Does anyone else find it hard (if you are working) to keep getting time off for these appointments, my clinic is nearly an hour away so its a good 3-4 hour trip every time. Also don't want to let my boss know what I'm doing as dont want it to affect any pay rises etc, ... oh well its just a bit more stress lol
Babydust to everyone x

Ridders · 06/06/2008 12:19

Hi everyone, just reading your messages and would like to wish all of you the best of luck with your clomid.

I was lucky and took clomid for 4 months then caught with my son who is now 9 months. I went for accupuncture and also went to see a dietitian and if this is something you are doing or thinking of doing it I totally recommend it. I felt that as long as I was doing everything possible then whatever the outcome, I knew I tried my best.

I hope all the heartache is worth it. Just try and remember that the best things come to those who wait!

Much love and luck to you all.

x

Sorry, haven't time to read the whole post, but wanted to give my experience in case it is any help to anyone.

When I conceived my ds I was on clomid and had been on it, i think, (long time ago) for over a year.

When i couldn't conceive again 5yrs later i was told, both by my new, fantastic gynaecologist, and later those at the fertility clinic i ended up at, that it was very suprising that i had conceived after so long on clomid - they said that after a certain time period (6-9 months) the beneficial effects become the opposite, and actually make conception more unlikely. It was something to do with the thickness of womb lining - I'm sorry I can't remember details.

I think this is worth discussing with relevant doctor/gynae. Realise it may already have been mentioned earlier in thread.

Anyway I DID conceive and my ds is now 13!!!

For my dd had further assisted fertility but that is another story....

Good luck one and all. Don't want to be pessimistic, just don't want people to waste precious time that may be due to inaccurate info.

MsBombastic · 06/06/2008 12:45

that's 'to read the whole THREAD'

sharlo · 08/06/2008 16:48

Hiya everyone, it has been nice to hear of so many happy stories.... I haven't posted on here for a while cos I have had traumatic few weeks.

Tried ovulation tests, and started having acupuncture, and then found out I was pregnant. Two days later, started bleeding heavily and hospital said it was a miscarriage. Gutted. Anyway, at least I know I can get pregnant.... just got to keep trying.

That was the beginning of May, and have come on again today after not taking clomid this month (the hospital told me to take a break until I had at least had two more periods).

Fingers crossed I can do it again!!!! I believe the acupuncture helped with it all though, and the ovulation tests. I felt like i had a bit of control over it all.

Good luck to everyone else.

MadKat · 10/06/2008 23:15

Hello Everyone,
OK, I am doing acupuncture in order to reduce my rediculously long cycles before starting clomid treatment. The consultant who recommended me for clomid said that I would have to pay for my scans even though I am doing eveything at NHS. Since I haven't taken clomid yet I don't really know what these scans are, when you get them and what they cost. I am presuming that they are for once you start the clomid and need to have your ovaries checked to see if eggs are developing. Can anyone shed any light on this for me, it woul be much appreciated.
Thanks

feduplady · 11/06/2008 16:28

Hi Madkat, yes you are right its to check that the follicles/eggs are developing and more importantly not then producing too many eggs. Not sure why you would have to pay for them tho, mine is just part of the process at the NHS Fertility Clinic I attend. Perhaps its a postcode lottery!! Anyway good luck to you and everyone x

pixistar · 12/06/2008 14:35

Hi Everyone,

Thank god I've found this forum. I'm due to start clomid on my ext cycle. My hubby & I have been trying for 18 months and are feeling a little deflated. I saw my consultant on Wednesday and have a low progesterone level. Does any one else have this as I know that they prescribe clomid for other conditions as well? I'm new to all this

cheekymonkeywanted · 12/06/2008 17:26

so glad to have found a site like this. Sorry if i go on about my story but i just want to let loose after finding people who will understand

Me and my husband have been trying for 2 years now and nothing. Up until last November i was having periods every 28/29/30 days then suddenly nothing. Anyway i now know i have mild PCOs and am not ovulating, the dr + specialist said i need to lose a bit of weight

People with PCOs know that losing weight is soooo hard, after crying and crying and more crying at the drs he said i can just lose another 1/2 stone ( ive already lost 1 stone) and they will put me on Clomid, with Norethisterone to kick start my periods. I think someone was watching down on me as for no reason i lost half stone in 2 weeks....

and so i am taking the Norethisterone now, and have 3 days left, then hopefully a period and then clomid, which i have been told to take from days 2-5.

I am lucky as i am only 23 i know i have time on my side, but we have been married now for 5 years and would like a big family. I do already have the best step daughter who is 7 and i love her with all my heart. I know its early days but we always said we would adopt even if we could have children. So one day i know it will happen either way.

Sorry a little longer than i planned, but i feel great now

Sarah1109 · 12/06/2008 19:20

Hi all,

Just come across this thread whilst researching Clomid.

My husband and I have been ttc since October 2005 (1 mc in Feb 06), and nothing since!!

After many tests and much poking and prodding, I have been prescribed 3 months worth of 50mg Clomid. I started taking these on Monday.

The doctor seems to think that I am fine, but my husband, although he has plenty of swimmers, seems to have trouble motivating them! - He has been advised to take 1g of Vit C and a "Wellman" tablet daily (incase any of you want to get your partners onto this??)

Also, the doctor doesn't want to see me for 6 months and I'm not having any further test in between? A lot of you seem to be being checked regularly? I'm confused as to why I am not?

Anyway, it's really comforting to read so many success stories, and for all of you who are still trying, I'm thinking of you. It really is one of the hardest things to go through, but it's nice to be able to chat to others in the same situation. xx

pixistar · 12/06/2008 22:56

Hey cheekymonkey,

I understand how you feel. Like you my specialist recommended that I loose weight before they put me on Clomid. I have boarder line PCOS on my left every and a very low progestorone level. I've lost over half a stone after joining slimming world which is fab as I went to see my consultant on wednesday & they have now started me on clomid. I'm with you about age I'm only 24 and do have time on my side but it does not make it any easier does it? I feel so frustrated as everyone I know is having babies (except me). Please keep me updated on your progress?

Sarah1109 · 13/06/2008 08:40

I'm getting really bad headaches whilst taking this Clomid. does anyone know if we can take painkillers, or do they interfere with the Clomid?

Thanks xx
