Hello Everyone,
I stumbled on this thread whilst doing a little research. My husband and I are fast learning about the world of assisted fertility. We have been ttc for about 1 year, have both had all the usual test and been deemed as fit and healthy. I don't have pcos, but I do have VERY irregular cycles (the last one was 97 days!) To get NHS help we have only been offered 1 cycle of IVF, and there is a 1-2 year waiting time. But if we want to pay we can start immediately! It's obvious that they have the facilities to do the IVF straightaway, but only if you've got the cash. Is anyone else in the borough of Southwark in London who can shed some light on their treatment? So we are on the waiting list. In the meantime we have decided to try acupuncture for me as it is gaining a good reputation in medical research for helping to assist in conception. Plus is just calms you down in this confusing and stressful time! If you google the words 'acupuncture' and 'conception' you will get lots of info. We are going to try clomid shortly in the hope that we can get a more regular cycle to work with! Good luck to you all. And if anyone has any helpful advice, let me know! Keep smiling, MK

Oh no Haylz! i so thought you were preggers! I was telling my mate and she was like yep defo, Well not to worry you have 2 more rounds right?? Good luck with this next round and keep us updated. Why was your periods late was it due to the clomid or are they usually abit late???? Sorry to ask you.

Angel008 · 25/05/2008 19:30

Hi Madkat, i have heard acupunture is supposed to be really good. In the herbal shops (dr and herbs) they also have herbal tablets to help you conceieve, tried them no good so they dont work! lol, but yeah acupuntures good but works out quite expensive as its not only one session you need. Good luck though with the IVF you should wait for that and have one round on the NHS beore you decide to pay out for IVF for the second try if you need it (which i hope not). How do you know you will be put on clomid??? I start mine this week just waiting to start my periods and il be logging on heer to let you all know if im well or not lol!!!! Dont like the headache stories im hearing lol but you cant have the best of both worlds in all cases. Good luck to you though and keep us updated!

MadKat · 26/05/2008 09:31

Hi Angel008 and thanks,
We were offered Clomid straightaway because my cycles were soooooooo out of whack and there isn't any real reason. But we would have to wait til my next period til we could start and that could be another 90-odd days! (anyone else this irregular - In the past year I've varied from 45-90 days!) So we decided to have the acupuncture in the meantime to see if we could reduce that to start with. Secretly I hope that we get lucky with the acupuncture as it's more natural and has no side effects. Having side effects and bad headaches from the clomid will be tough. Fingers crossed they'll only be mild! Good luck with your course!

Hi Danismum,
I have read that lubricants can be detrimental to sperm so it's advisable not to use it when trying to conceive. Good luck!

haylz · 26/05/2008 14:11

hi angel008. my periods did start 2 regulate but since taking clomid its gone mad again. i have another 5 rounds of clomid but only 50mg so after my next period it will be 3 months and my gyno will see me 2 see if its working and if not she will up the dose. baby dust 2 u all *

notcitrus · 26/05/2008 19:26

Hi Madkat,

I had my cycle kick-started with Provera. After 4 months my shiny-new 41-day cycle vanished, so it was back to the Provera plus Clomid for 3 months. Nothing, and again after 3 months my periods vanished again.

On the plus side, no side effects at all from either the Provera or the Clomid, although I was advised not to start taking them on holiday in case of stomach problems on the plane home.

Spent January playing phone tag with my consultant's useless receptionist, seeing as after 3 months of no periods I'd done a pregnancy test. Saw my GP as I'd been wiped out by a cold, who decided to do routine blood tests.

Just as well, as I turned out to be 14 weeks pregnant! Now 24 weeks and all is well.

Best wishes to you and everyone else ttc.

haylz · 26/05/2008 19:28

forgot 2 add on the last thread. i am 2 have bloods dun on my 21dc but i will be in canada then so do u think it would matter just not knowing if i ovu. i will av 2 get hold of my gyno i think xx

Angel008 · 26/05/2008 20:34

Hi Haylz,

I think you will need to let thm know cause the 21 day blod test is to check ovulation so is very important indeed so youmay have to have that done next month then. Do let ur gyno know though soon as you can and get advise.

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 3 years. March 27th we went to fertility centre. He check my husband everything is good. Doctor told me i have pcos. He gave me medicine to induce my menses, after that on 15th april he arrange lap surgery. He say my tube, everything is good, nothing to worry. This month doc gave me medicine to induce menses, my menses came on 22nd may. Start from day 2 until day 5 i took clomid. I started to take metformin from 22 april 2008. This month cycle, we decided to try it out and saturday i need to go for check up, for an ultrasound -egg grow or not..I hope so much.. I'm so nervous, and I hope it works in our first round of Clomid. Well I'll keep you all posted. Keep us in your prayers!! Good luck to all that are trying to conceive. Babydust!!

Does anyone take clomid at a certain time.... morning/ night??? Just wondering if theres side affects is it better to take it at night????

feduplady · 27/05/2008 22:39

Hi Angel008,I just took mine in the morning as I just found that easier but my Consultant did advise to take the tablets at roughly the same time each day.

Well, everyone I have been for the 10 day scan today and they said there are some follicles developing, 2 largish ones on 1 ovary and 3 smaller ones on other. They want me to go back in next Monday for another scan to see how they progressing. Why is it all just wait, wait wait..... I'm fed up of waiting lol

Lots of luck to everyone
xx

Angel008 · 28/05/2008 12:51

Hi all,

just wanted to know if anyone has had any late periods since having a lap and dye test.

It could be a good thing and i could be pregnant but i very much doubt it lol and im stressing so much caue i just waa take my clomid this month and get the ball rolling.

Anyone had anything similar after the lap ad dye........plzzzzzzzz help!!!!!!!!

danismum · 30/05/2008 22:13

hi, can anhyone help me with a clomid/period question? I've been told to start clomid on day 2. If i've got AF at 9.30pm tonight, is day 2 tomorrow, or is it more likely to be closer to Sunday?

dutchmam · 30/05/2008 22:23

Hi Danismum, don't think it really matters either way, but I would probably start Sunday. Good luck!

Angel008 · 31/05/2008 03:15

hi danismum,

didnt fully understand what your asking and whats AF??? you count day one of your cycle the first full day you have a period. just say u start on tuesdaynight then wednesday is the 1st day and the you would take clomid on thrusday which is day 2 of yur cycle. hope this helps.

Angel008 · 31/05/2008 03:17

Thanks haylz! cant wait till the morning to take it lol!
