Many thanks

Hi all. Glad i've found this website, it's nice to know i'm not on my own, people often say to me, he only has to look at me and i'm pregnant, oh, if only it was that easy eh. We've been trying to conceive for 4 and a half years, I took clomid for 6mths last year and even though scans showed follicles and blood tests results confirmed ovulation i never became pregnant. After 4 mths break from clomid i am on my 1st of 6 cycles again, i am not doing any more ovulation tests and pregnancy tests just trying to chill out, yeah right. I am wondering if i have a leutal phase defect, has anyone had a similar experience? clomidkidx

clomidkid · 19/03/2008 11:47

To Sharlo,
I am not sure if the ovulation kits work effectively when taking clomid,i used them with a variety of results, the only thing i noticed when taking clomid for the first six months was that, after always having a 31 day cycle without clomid, whilst taking clomid my cycle became 33 days long each month so i knew that if my period hadnt arrived by day 35 things might be looking up. Good luck, fingers crossed. clomidkid xx

Hi
I have PCOS and went on chlomid in November. On my first cycle I got pregnant and am now 18 weeks.
All very exciting and I hope it is as easy for you as it was for me!

clomidkid · 20/03/2008 18:15

Congratulations Rachel, that's great news, it gives me hope, how long have you been trying? clomidkidx

peanut23 · 22/03/2008 09:26

hi catcarvell, dont worry about speakin your mind, i think you are just saying what most of us are feeling. And i completely understand about your anger for ppl havin children to stay on benefits, i have a few of them around me......... My oldest sister was on IVF last year and had twin girls who sadley past away at 1 week and three weeks old due to a hospital cock up but she is now expecting again, due next month which i find really hard. i am made up for her cos she has been where we are now but at the same time i am so jealous which sounds bad but thankfully all my family understand.
I had my scan on day one as i over reacted to the last clomid cycle but everythin was ok so i am now on my last cycle but the doc says if i over react again he will change my tablets!!!!! my cycle is 33 days at the min so i have my next scan on friday but i dont think i will get my hopes up this time as the feelin is even worse when its a negative result.
I have got some of them ovulation tests to do this month but i aint sure if i will use them cos its just another weapon for getting your hopes up...........
Anyways hun, i have everythin crossed for you and hopefully this will be the end of it for you, keep me updated and catch all the baby dust xxxxxxxxxx

catcarvell · 03/04/2008 19:06

Hello, just popping in to encourage you with my story. I had very irregular periods after coming off the pill (2 or 3 a year!), after having various tests to rule out premature menopause, polycystic ovaries etc etc I was prescribed clomid. I had one drug to bring on a period (I forget the name) and then the clomid. Got pregnant on the very first dose! And went on to conceive my second baby the same way! My third baby was conceived naturally which was a surprise but I suspect the clomid gave my ovaries a bit of a kick start as I am having periods more regularly now. So good luck to you!

scazkat · 04/04/2008 00:32

hi everybody

I suffer from pcos n had an ovary removed in 2001. I did conceive naturally in 2005 n have a beautiful boy to prove it We are trying for another baby but i dont have a regular cycle, to be honest they may be months apart. I am now on my first month of Norethisterone n Clomid. Anybody else going through the same thing how long will it take to work?

ShirleyTemple · 08/04/2008 22:16

Good to see some positive threads about clomid here.

Just starting to take them for the 3rd month and loosing faith a little before I read some of these.

Will see what this month brings [hmmm]

eknowles · 09/04/2008 20:04

hi there
i'm new to this so please bear with me! I have just started my first course of clomid yest. i have v irregular periods and had the usual tests and advised i had pcos and not ovulating. my consultant gave me prescrption yest and advised to take straight away didn't need to wait for period or have any tablet to start it. i am taking clomid cd1 - 5 on 28 day cycle. already my stomach feels slightly bloated and little sore. just concerned that everywhere i read everyone had tablet to start period off before clomid?!

sharlo · 10/04/2008 17:18

Hi Peanut23 - sorry it has taken so long to reply to you, I've been away.

Since I have been on the clomid my periods have been 31 days - on the two months that I have used the ovulation kits, they say I am ovulating on day 17, which sounds about right. If you read the info it says you should ovuluate 14 days before period, so fingers crossed it is working ok.

If they are right, I have been a few days out!!!

ipanemagirl · 10/04/2008 17:57

I'm another clomid success (I may have already posted here but for anyone that would appreciate the encouragement) I'm over 40 and my periods were getting longer and longer apart. We had one son conceived naturally who's now 7 and one mc three years ago. I took clomid for quite a few months (have forgotten!) between 4 and 6 anyway and am now nearly 18 weeks pg and all looks well.
My friend who's 43 just had a little girl and had been trying for ever to conceive her second with no success. She went to an acupuncturist for 4 months and is convinced that's what helped her.
Interestingly I had almost given up when I conceived this time. We were just going to carry on for the number of months we were allowed and see what happened. I had really started to accept, even quite happily that we would only be three of us. It's strange how that seems to help! Hard to do though until a person it is ready though.

poppy75 · 11/04/2008 13:43

Hello Guys

Ipanemagirl So good to hear your positive stories anymore out there?

Have started on clomid today after ttc for 2.5 years (1 m/c). Am excited but also after lots of let downs trying not to get my hopes up!!!

I had a short luteal phase - is there anyone else who had clomid for this and it worked???

poppy75 · 11/04/2008 13:45

MrsTLC · 13/04/2008 02:27

After 3 months of clomid with no success, me and my husband tried clomid along with IUI on the 4th month. Thanks be to God, we're now 4 months pregnant with twins. We find out next month what were having.

I always knew that the chances of having multiples was a possibility, but never thought it would be us having twins.

Best wishes to all the ladies still trying to conceive. Clomid and IUI does work!

God Bless!

I have PCOS and very irratic periods/ovulation and was prescribed with 3 months worth of Clomid after DH and I had been trying for a year on our own without success. I was also taking Metformin as well.

I fell pregnant on the third round of Clomid and now my little angel is 6 months old!!

I didn't notice any side-effects whilst taking Clomid and I would recommend it to anyone who needs that little bit of a fertility boost!

Good luck and hope it works for you.
