Hi Angel!
Had not had any tests at all at point when first GP prescribed Clomid.
2nd GP organised for blood to be taken on the day I saw him (CD4) and I ambooked in for second lot to be taken 21 days later. To check am O'ing.
The first GP (for abbr. let us call him CrapGP) just noted that DH and I had been ttc for getting on for 18 months and said "it would be worth giving Clomid a try. Give it three months and if nothing happens we'll carry out further investigations". Which I grant you on reflection does seem rather stupid. (But as my DH says hindsight is always 20/20). Anyway, we'll see what the first test says and go from there I guess. Tum ti tum ti tum. 2nd GP suggested DH sees his GP (different surgery - its a long story) for sperm analysis - but DH has done a home Fertell test and because (in his words) his "little swimmers passed with flying colours" he doesn't feel he needs another test. However he will be getting sperm analysis done... now we have had a little chat.
Babydust to everyone!

Hi Guy's,

I don't think I could have explained ICSI IVF any better then how Sarah has explained it. It is extreamly exspensive & my firend went through so many emotions. That one isn't for the faint hearted. Mind you you I don't think any form of fertility treatment is to be honest. It all plays with you emotions & is stressful. The only reason why they had to go for that type of treatment, because both her & her DH, have problems. It was their only chance to have a child after 10 years of trying.

Angel: I just have not felt any different this month no pain, hotflushes any thing.... I tried using thoese OPK's which I don't think worked as they were all negative. Only used them because my consultant told me to

Angel008 · 10/08/2008 12:50

Hiya Sarah,

Gosh you explained that so well i dont even need to ask anything more on it. I thought there was only ivf and iui but didnt know what iui was either, so thanks very mch for explaining that.xx

Angel008 · 10/08/2008 12:58

Hiya booglie, well atleast there now doing checks so you will know why your not concieving.Let us know what results you get back,xx

Hiya debz,
I get my bloods next monday 18th so wil get my results a week later. Im quite suprised yo havet had a lap and dye before being given clmid, i had one to rule out any blockages. Also ive just finished my 3rd round of clomid and if it doesnt work for me this month the consultant doesnt want to see me till november so like i said before they sent me 3 months worth supply of clomid for september october and november. Atleast it will lead me up to and keep me busy till our appointment.I have also noticed i am very tired on clomid, dont think its a side effect though think im just being lazy and blaming clomid! lol Good luck with your results debs xx tc

Angel008 · 10/08/2008 13:02

Hiya pixistar,

Thanks for your messages. I am doing the home ovulation predictor kits too but theyre so rubbish. They ae just always negative like yours lol, im using the strips in a white packet wha do you use?

pixistar · 10/08/2008 14:24

Hi Angel,

I bought some OPK's (the stips) off of access diagnostic's website. I'm having my 21 day bloods tomorrow. Did you notice if your eye site went funny at all when taking Clomid? Mine went a bit blurry. Don't know if I should mention this to my fertility clinic? It does say on the instructions that this can be one of the many side effects.

Angel008 · 10/08/2008 14:32

Hi pixistar, to be honest yes i have noticed this but thogut maybe its just my eyes need testing and i need glasses so made an app with opticians, my eyes get a bit blurry and i feel abit light headed with it too.

xx

haylz · 10/08/2008 14:46

Angel008 · 10/08/2008 21:26

I get them done t hospital, they say a week just to be sure, so i just wait a week and then call up, last time it was only 5 days though. lol

Angel008 · 10/08/2008 21:47

i saw a message posted on the other thread on mumsnet and thought i would paste it here. Its from aimee brown and obviously shows clomid does work for some people so gmtv and bbc need to get there facts right really!

"I was given clomid as I had a 21 day cycle and was not ovulating, have also suffered with endometriosis for years. We managed to conceive on our 6th month, but sadly had a miscarriage at 6 wks. However, went back on clomid and was pregnant again 2 months later. Am now 22 wks and all seems well. I possibly wouldn't build up hopes of it working first time but perservere and hopefully it will happen, we went from trying for over 2 years with no results to getting pregnant twice in 3 months with the help of Clomid Fingers crossed and good luck. "

Tigger1976 · 11/08/2008 08:30

Hi All!
Am new to mumsnet. Just wanted to say what a great forum this seems to be. Am on first cycle of clomid, (3rd day of it). Taking 50mg cd5-9. No side effects so far (but am guessing they wouldn't have shown up yet). Having said that I did get vvvvvvv cross with DH last night - but to be honest I don't think that was anything to do with Clomid - I think it had everything to do with the fact that he had been a Class A Muppet with numtpy sprinkles on top.
Little question: does anyone actually know someone who has conceived on first cycle or is it all apocryphal and are our naive hopes something we should be keeping in check?

Tigger1976 · 11/08/2008 08:32

oops numtpy = numpty

Tigger1976 · 11/08/2008 08:33

PS By "our naive hopes" I meant of course the naive hopes of DH and me. XXX

skates77 · 11/08/2008 10:56

Hi,

I am new to mumsnet, I have PCOS and I have started my first round of clomid today. I have been ttc for around 4 years and after many years of suffering horrendous pains in my left ovary a cyst was found and removed. Unfortunately I still have PCOS but I am very hopeful that Clomid will work.

FATFARM · 11/08/2008 11:52

Thank you Marcy08,

Lets hope we will be blessed with clomid and don't have to do ivf.

all the best

Angel008 · 11/08/2008 12:15

Hi tigger and skates. Good luck with your cycles and welcome to this site! Its a great forum and great network of support. Wish you all the best

Jodee · 11/08/2008 12:19

I wish everyone all the very best ttc with Clomid - unfortunately after 12 cycles it didn't work for me, but after a lap&dye at the end of it all, it seems this was because I had a lot of adhesions after emergency
c-section with DS, but I know another Mnetter (not sure if she has posted on this thread) who conceived twice with Clomid.

skates77 · 11/08/2008 13:25

Thank you very much. I am feeling very hopeful. I have been waiting for these tablets for so long. I just hope they work.

xx

haylz · 11/08/2008 14:00

Wallacex · 11/08/2008 18:31

Hi Tigger and skates

Welcome to the thread - tigger when are due to start clomid?

Skates - i too have PCOS - have you been given metformin as well as clomid?

Angel - how are things with you, any symptoms this time around. I don't have those awlful cramps this time, in fact i don't even think ive ovulated, things feel different this time, perhaps i shouldn't have reduced my dose to 50mg - oh well bring on the 21 day bloods!

Haylz - just read your msg about those ovulation sticks, i was going to buy some, do you think its not worth it then as i have PCOS.

skates77 · 11/08/2008 19:05

Hi Wallacex,

Yes I was given Metformin a while ago but it made me really sick so I have been told to try Clomid without Metformin for the first three months and see what happens.

I have used fertility sticks before, you can get ultra sensitve ones for PCOS sufferers on ebay, very cheap and worth a go.

After taking my first Clomid today I have had a bad headache and totally lost my appetite which is good!

How long have you been on Clomid?

xx

teenab · 11/08/2008 19:56
