hi hopeful,

Ovulation pains are fairly bad after the first round but they die down after that i think. Mine were only very painful the first month and this month i had them but they wernt too bad. Saying that i bet i jinx myself this month and there gona be soooo painful lol......

Good luck with your course.

Angel008 · 21/07/2008 21:18

hi peju25,

me and dh have been trying for a year now too. Had tests and there doesnt seem to be anthing wrong. I started clomid in May so next week is my 3rd round. Im hoping it works as if not im due for ivf in february.

Good luck with your 1st round of clomid.....Any idea when you will start your round???? are you being monitored whilst on clomid????

Do try and stay positive and try and focus your attention on something else. It will happen and if you arent expecting to see positive results the first time u take clomid then when you do fall pregnant it will come as a wonderful suprise.

I reaaly would like a child now but when i get a negative result i dont dwell on it or let it bring me down, just wait for it to happen... Keep your chin up and theres plenty of us here to talk to as we are all going through the same if not similar experiences!

Good luck hun......xx

peju25 · 22/07/2008 09:15

Hi Angel - hoping to start 1st round in august. My doc is quite nice and said as soon as scan is done go n see her and if ive not started she will give me something so can start course straight away. They have said they will be monitoring me throughout with bloods and scan.
Am trying to stay positive and quietly hoping this will work for us seems to have done for lots of others here.
Fingers crossed for you!

hopeful1 · 22/07/2008 10:31

Dear Angel008,

Thank you for your message. Never had ovulation pains so was a bit of a shocker.

Hope you have lots of luck on your next round and pain free...fingers crossed x

Wallacex · 22/07/2008 11:01

Thanks for your messages hopeful and Angel - i must admit i was a disappointed, but as you say Angel best not to dwell.

Hi Peju25,

I too was told i had PCOS after a blood test (always knew something was wrong) - i was given provera to start my bleed off and was also put on metformin alongside clomid - because of the PCOS (although im not overweight) - has your consultant suggested the metformin to - as it might be worth mentioning it, it is supposed to help people with PCOS.

Has anyone heard of Debz?

peju25 · 22/07/2008 11:45

Hi Wallacex
Not mentioned metformin at all (what does it do?? sorry too new to all this!)
I was never aware anything wrong although i do suffer with weight - can eat really healthy and put on weight - doc said this is one of the side effects so need to start trying to avoid sugars now.

Can i ask have you done any more pg tests yet?? I actually read the whole of this thread (took a while!) and couple of people found out were pg just as about to start next course. And as i keep getting told its not over till the OB rears her head!

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 13:07

Hiya wallacex.......Debs last message was on wednesday wasnt it and she was going to test this weekend.......Hope its worked for her...really do......Maybe it has cause she was always poting on here recently.......Lets wait and see if she comes on here to update us....

She emailed me on thursday and ive emailed her today to ask her how she is and wether or not she tested. Also told her we are waiting for her to post a message and update us.........xx

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 13:17

Hi Peju 25......

Thanks for your message.....Well well not long to go at all till your 1st round and fingers crossed it will work for you. Its good that they are monitoring you throughout, im getting bloods done every month which show im ovulating alot more than usual. Get my results again this friday!

Do stay positive as you say there are man many people it has worked for on here.... It makes you think how wonderful the drug actually is that it has made many peoples dreams come true.

I am due on this friday and then start round 3 on saturday. I have no signs yet that i am coming on but maybe thats becuase i dont want to have any lol....... I read you said a couple of people found out they were pregnant just as they were due to start there next round ( i read that too), ve done 2 tests so far which were just normal tests not early detection or anything and they both came up negative. Havent done any today and dont think i willnow anyway up until friday!

Whats OB???

Take care

xx

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 13:19

Dear hopeful1

Thank you for your message. I know i hope so too.....Really want this to work.......

Wallacex · 22/07/2008 13:56

Hi Peju and Angel

Metformin is used to treat people who have type two diabeties, but is now used also in people who have PCOS. People with PCOS have something wrong with their insulin which is why you might put on weight so easily. Mention it to your consultant next.

Im due on Thursday and have signs already - have done two pregnancy tests (early detection ones) and both said negative.

Unfair, im not being monitored like you pair - was given six cycles of clomid and six months worth of metformin and thats it. Went for my bloods last Thursday and am not being seen now til November.

Fingers crossed for Debz and you angel - could do with some good news xx

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 14:04

Hiya Wallacex,

Dont worry if you are not being monitored! Neither am i......When i fist started clomid for the very 1st month they took a blood test. Then the 2nd month blood test which was last week was only because i rang the consultant and requested it as i said other people are having scans and tests so why am i not so she sent me out a form to take in with me. Again next month i am going to do the same just to be sure myself that i am ovulating and the clomid is working each month.

You should do the same and surely they will let you have monthly blood tests. I am not sure if next month they will let me have another but i will defo request again......Sometimes you just have to ask otherwise it feels like they forget about you. If i hadnt requested anything then i was just the same and would have been seen in november too......November 12th!

And dont stress if its not worked this month......Once your body gets used to it then its gona work fingers crossed!

2nd month over for me now and i dnt think its worked so were both in the same boat hey xx

peju25 · 22/07/2008 14:23

Hi Angel008 and wallacex

OB is old bitch (period) seen it on another site and think it rings quite true!!

Think may ask about the metformin when i see my doc next. Think i am lucky having this doc as she is really understanding and takes time to explain things (last appointment took 45 mins!)

Wallacex - i know you dont want to get hopes up but until ob here you never know - on another site i looked on one girl there had neg then when two weeks late another neg then 2 days after to prove point to a friend took a test and it was pos! This is why i always think you cant give up hope till ob arrives. Im a week late now (was regular up until 2 months ago) and i still intend to take test at wkend if nothing just to make sure!! Plus i got to get my fix of doing them!!

debz9384 · 22/07/2008 14:33

Wallacex · 22/07/2008 14:57

Hi ladies,

Thanks for the messages - im not pinning my hopes on it, just want to get started with the next round.

Angel - how did you get the results of your blood test - did they give them to you over the phone?

Debz - sorry to hear it didn't work, fingers crossed for round 2. Hope it doesn't affect my period too much as my usually only lasts for three days and thats without clomid - lol

xx

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 15:09

HIYA WALLACEX,

LOL THAT MADE ME LAUGH.....

Right well they dont write to you or send the results to your doctors, their idea is to discuss it all with you in november. (this is what the consultant told me on the phone)

but all you do is call the hospital dept where you had your tests or even better cal your consultants receptionist......

Ask for the blood test results....you wont understand it probs like me so i then asked what should the normal level be? and what was mine when you took the test? they just tell you over the phone. Have the date to hand when you went for your test.....

Hope all the info helps you and leme know when you get your results!!!!

Wallacex · 22/07/2008 16:18

Hi Angel,

Thanks for that, i phoned the hospital and they said that my results were back, but they weren't allowed to give me the results over the phone as they were only receptionists, and i have to wait for a nurse to phone me back and they could take as long as tommorrow.

So at the moment im staring at my phone every 5 seconds as its on silent because im at work.

will keep you posted though xx

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 16:24

awww thats great. Its doesnt matter if it IS tommorrow cause all you need is the results. I think weve all learnt that everything in this process is a waiting game even a phone call lol.......xx

Dont worry atleast you get the results....let me know when you get them..... Good luck.....and if you dont understand them just ask what they mean, as in what should the normal level be.

What time you working till, poor thing....Im off on sick!

TC

hopeful1 · 22/07/2008 16:24

Hey guys,

I dont know if its because I am having IUI but what are you all talking about when you mentioned having blood tests. I have had no blood tests, was just told to do ovulation testing kits. I have a 28 day cycle normally and was told I would ovulate around day 14, on day 15 I had the HCG injection to make you ovulate but didnt have my fisrt positive ovulation kit until day 18!! Why are you all having blood tests and not using ovultaion kits....sorry but dont understand why it seems to be different for me and what they are testing you for!! x

Wallacex · 22/07/2008 16:47

Hi Angel,

I only had to wait an hour - a nurse phoned me back - good news and bad, good news is that i have ouvulated but too much - the average is suppossed to be between 30 and 70 and mine was 109. I have to phone the doctor tommorrow and see what he says, i may have to go in for an emergency scan and take it from there, also will have to drop from 100mg of clomid to 50mg.

opps

cheekymonkeywanted · 22/07/2008 17:08

hi hopeful1,

well in answer to your question i think most of us are on Clomid, a tablet taken from day 2 to day 6 of your period which is meant to help produce a folicle (egg), and then on my first month on day 10 i had to go to the specialist for a scan to check my ovaries and check that i have produced an egg (or more for some) which i had on my right side. Then on day 21 i had to go for a blood test to confirm that i had ovulated in the past 10 days, which i had. If you dont they tend to increase your dosage and do the same tests the following month to see if that works.

Hope this helps obviously this is just what i have had done, but others may be slightly different.

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 18:16

Hi Walacex,

You didnt have to wait long did ya!

Right well at least you can see clomid has worked Yeah? As they started you on 100mg they can see its obviously way too much and maybe theres a certain level and if it is too high then its harder to concieve (my theory lol)so they will put you on 50mg like im on to bring you down to average which will make it probs more likely and a lower dose will bring down any ovulation pains too. If you have to go in for a scan dont stress it will all just be routine so they can check you over. Its a good job you called and got your results. At the end of the day consultants know what they are doing...and we do have to at this stage leave it to hem so they can take control and make it work for us.

So the news isnt really good and bad, its good as they have seen ovulation is too high and therefore are bringing the level down and it may mean next month you may concieve. With a high level one month and a low the next maybe it will all blend together!

So chin up and et me know when your due for a scan and the lower dose!

xx Take care.

Angel008 · 22/07/2008 18:18

hi hopeful1,

I guess cheekymonkeywanted has answered your question for you and pretty well at that!! lol.....If i say anything i will just be repeating what she has said!

Hope you understand......take care xx
