Hi cheeky monkey,
good luck to you, hope it works out for you. That is so weird kuz me and my hubby have said the same thing. i think afew past experiences in life got us to thinking along those lines and we also said we would always adopt a child even if we hd kids and we have lso said that give it a year from now and if all trys fail then we will adopt. That way we will have a child and it will take even more stress off us and maybe then too it will help us concieve our own.

Well let see which happens first, wether we concieve or wether we adopt........

Take care and loadsa luck xx

In response to the original message header for this thread, I just thought I'd add my (very positive) experience of Clomid. I'd heard many negative things about mood swings etc - I had none of those bad side effects.

I am now 13 weeks pg with my second child. I conceived on my fourth month taking Clomid (100mg taken on days 2-6). I also used an ovulation monitor to check ovulation and while it showed a longer fertile period that might not have been entirely accurate, I think it was still accurately showing OV.

For what it's worth, I had a short luteal phase and the Clomid completely sorted it out from the first month - I went from OV on day 14 but having my period 10-12 days later to having a textbook 28-day cycle.

BTW, my sister also conceived her second on Clomid (only two months of meds). He was born a few weeks ago!

Good luck, everyone! It doesn't work for everyone and as I've said it took me four (of my six allocated) cycles to get there but it certainly helped me.

RuRowe · 18/07/2008 14:52

hi hopeful
Nice to get your reply.
Well not long now till my first appt with specialist. Due to ovulate any day now so insisting to DH that we try every 2 days as suggested- don't think he's impressed with the idea of being a sperm donor which it what last night pretty much amounted to!
Told him i'd make it up another time- besides he still gets something good out of it even if i don't! It was very late at night and i was so tired i didn't have the energy for a long session.
Madness- but if it works it'll be worth it!

marcy08 · 18/07/2008 21:29

Hi all, just found this site, I am a 36 yr old, i have a 17yr old son to a previous marriage , me and my current husband have been ttc for 3 yrs, i am under a specialist and just had the dye test done, found out i have a blocked tube and a little endometriosis, after i came round from theatre i was told i would be sent for ivf, i was surprised that they did not clear the blocked tube and endometriosis, waitin to go back to specialist to start ivf, does anyone know if they will start me on clomid first, im so confused, and anychance i could concieve on clomid alone, we have to pay for ivf also as i have a child already even though my partner has no children

Angel008 · 18/07/2008 21:48

Hi Marcy,

Just read your message......When is your ivf due??? I think you should ask your specialist to start you on clomid. There is a good chance of concieving on it rather than going for ivf straighaway its best to try that first to see if it works especially if you are paying for ivf........

Why have the doctors decided not to unblock your tube? I cant really advise you as i havent had either a blocked tube when they tested me or endometriosis but all i can do is suggest you speak to your consultant regarding clomid. I was started on 50mg for 3 months and my consultant saw it was working and gave me a further 3 months. I am due for ivf in february on the nhs as i have no children but being on clomid may help me concieve and i wont have to go through all the emotions of ivf so do give it a try if possible.

I hope ive helped you in some way......

Good luck with everything though x fingers crossed you'll have a lovely baby soon either through clomid or ivf x.....

Angel008 · 18/07/2008 21:52

Hi all........

I have been for my 21 day blood test today (after 2nd round of clomid) and will get my results next month showing how much i have ovulated! So will let you all know though then.

My arm is sooooo killing me, i dont understand why every time they take blood my arm hurts so much and gets bruised! May be low on iron so im taking iron tablets.....and just to remind you all keep taking pregnacare if your not already taking it then go get a large supply, it has all the essential vitamins in to take when trying to concieve!

I am due on on the 25th July now and then start round 3 of clomid the next day! So Good luck to all you guys and hope this is gona work for us!

Take care.......And haylz thanks for adding me............xx

Wallacex · 19/07/2008 06:54

Hi Angel,

It seems were on the same stage altough im on my first round of clomid. I had my bloods done thursday and am due on the 24 July. I too have a bruise from where my blood was taken and it hurts like hell.

I was just wondering have you considered try pregnancy test that you can now by which apparently can detect six days before your due? Ive been considering it but perhaps im being too hasty as i don't feel pregnant and have no symptoms whatsoever.

Sarah1109 · 19/07/2008 11:42

Hi Marcy08,

I also had blocked tubes, but dring the procedure to investigate that they also cleared them. Ask your consultant why they didn't clear the tube when they discovered it??

I'm now on 2nd round of Clomid. I will also have to pay for IVF if this doesn't work. I have a child from a previous relationship, but my husband doesn't have any! Maybe we should start a campaign to allow people in our situation more access to IVF on the NHS. Surely there's a breach of our husbands' human rights here somewhere!!!

Hope you get some answers and more assistance from your consultant.

Good luck. xxx

marcy08 · 19/07/2008 12:44

HiSarah,
Thank you for your comments, i will get answers from my consultant and let you know the reasons why my tube wasnt cleared, also i totally agree with rights for our husbands, its the one thing in the world that he wants and im unable to to give him a child , its not his fault, maybe its something we could look into.
All the best and Thankyouuuu xxxx

hopeful1 · 20/07/2008 14:18

Hey,

I had my IUI procedure done yesterday. Just have a long 2 week wait now. I have been getting period cramping pains now since yesterday, are they ovulating pains???? Does anyone know how long you ovulate for??

Has anyone conceived using clomid and IUI, it would be nice to hear a positive story about this method as feel a little bit alone even though I know that there are lots of girls out there doing the same thing.

Good luck to everyone xx

hopeandfaith · 21/07/2008 00:00

Ive just joined to tell you to have faith and hope.I had a baby a year ago after years of trying and it was with my first round of clomid and I wanted another straight away and nothing happened so I was given another cycle and I have just found out that I am pregnant again from my first cycle again, so it does work for some .Just have faith and hope.

Wallacex · 21/07/2008 08:52

Hi Hopeful

Fingers crossed that it has worked for you. How you getting on with the clomid, not side effects i hope.

I took an early pregnancy test at the weekend, that new one where you can do it six days early, im not pregnant this time around - didn't think i was as i have no symptoms at all. Was gutted on Saturday when i found out, but round two here i come.

Angel008 · 21/07/2008 13:17

Hiya wallacex,

Awww dont worry hun...it will defo happen. Your starting round 2 and im starting round 3. I tested today not with an early test just a normal one and that was negative as it would be cause it doesnt detect so early and also cause i dont think its worked anyway!

I think we are both at the same stage but im one course ahead of you.....Hope your 2nd round works for you....wish you all the luck in the world.

Take care

Pinkali37 · 21/07/2008 13:32

Hi All,

Just thought i'd reply to Marcey08... I have severe Endometriosis but have clear tubes. I have had 2 operations to remove lesions and free my ovaries and it turns out I have endo' all over my bowel, bladder and kidneys... My consultant recommended that I try 6 months of clomid (3 x at 50mg and 3 x at 100mg) first 2 months i didn't ovulate HOWEVER the 3rd month (and still on 50mg) I did ovulate and subsequently got pregnant. I am now 23 weeks pregnant and over the moon. I had also been to see a professor of IVF and he told me I would never conceive naturally (strange that considering we would have had to pay privately) so little did he know!!! Persevere, that's all I can say. You would have thought they would have clear any lesions you had and Endo' in the Lap you had however get yourself back on the list to get it done. I was convinced that the nearer I was to having just had an oepration the better chance I had to get pregnant. (DH also went through a vas reversal and only has 33% good ones so this baby is a miracle). Good luck and just keep going.

hopeful1 · 21/07/2008 16:17

Dear Wallacex,

Sorry to hear it didnt work for you this time....I will keep my fingers crossed for you next time!!

No side effects from clomid thankfully but got horrible ovulation pains at weekend....could do without those....but good to know that I am ovulating I guess!!

Pinkali37 - what a great story...lucky you...hope you are having a good pregnancy!!

peju25 · 21/07/2008 17:10
