Hi Everyone!!

Congratulations Lysettes and Hellkat, I'm so glad Jacob and Katie are doing well.

Well, its my first proper day of maternity leave today. I've taken dd to nursery and now I'm kind of wondering round thinking what do I do now!! So I'm watching Jeremy Kyle
Got an appointment with my midwife tomorrow, I haven't been for about 2 months!! And I've got my driving test next week. I'm so nervous already, I'm not very confident about passing.
Well now I've got all the time in the world I'm sure I'll be on here loads now
5 weeks to go now....

mabel1973 · 08/08/2006 10:56

lovely to hear from Lysettes and Hellkat - glad everything is going so well!
Marls - you will have to let us know if your article is on line I would love to see it!
Haven't watched the driving mum and dad mad thing - purposefully - I don't like to think about what they could turn out like - although I'd like to think my parenting methods aren't that bad (but don't we all!)
I have suddenly felt in the last few days unbelievably heavy and the pressure in my pelvis is making me feel like I can't do anything - even my 'nesting' spurt has had to calm right down.
That itchy bumpy rash on my feet is driving me crazy. DH is going to the chemists today to see if they can give me anything for it.

Bella23 · 08/08/2006 11:27

Lysettes & Hellkat - so lovely to hear how everything is going so well

Topbanana - good luck with the driving test next week.

Well not a lot to report here, last week of work this week - hoorah!!
Getting to be the size of a house so can't wait to not be working and have some lounging time.

Pol - my DH is exactly the same, completely useless in the kitchen, would have no hope that he would know how to make a risotto!!

Marls - make sure you stay off your feet and just take it really easy so that the little one stays put for a little while longer.

mimpim · 08/08/2006 11:28

Wow! I was away for the weekend when this thread had a few messages on it! Now it is massive! It has taken me ages to catch up!
Gosh a couple of tiny little babies out there, sounds like they are both doing well, congratulations to the mums.

I have managed to sort out my visiting in laws situation when I was quizzed directly by the SIL as to what my plans were for the christening. I told her I was bringing it forward so that all the family could see the baby at a few weeks old and that the grandparents would be able to bring any pictures before hand. She just made a little hmm sound and walked away. So I am waiting for the reprecusions!
I will extend a welcome to her for the week before the christening, so that she feels a little more important but I will have to see what kind of bad names I am being called for making the decision to de-invite her for the week I am due (not that I ever invited her in the first place, that was all her decision!).
I feel MUCH better though for having said my piece, although my heart was in my mouth when she asked!

Feeling more nervous about the impending birth, too many family memebers saying, 'you could come early you know, I was 5 (or 4) weeks early!' etc etc
Arrgh I have about 5 weeks to go, and am not really thinking about it all yet!
Maybe I ought to though!

liquidclocks · 08/08/2006 11:53

Mimpim - well dones for standing up to your SIL, hope you're feeling much better. You've got me thinking about the baptism now - had a nightmare last time... arrghh!

Good luck for your driving test topbanana, just look as pregnant as possible - worked for me!

Has anyone got some good motivational things to say about getting on with work - everytime I sit down at the computer I seem to end up on MN or ebay looking at baby things! I just can't focus on anything that's not baby related! nesting? or just pregnancy...?

Bella23 · 08/08/2006 12:14

Liquidlocks - no help on the motivation I am afraid as feeling exactly the same as you, its so hard isn't it!!

clairemow · 08/08/2006 14:37

none at all liquid - sorry! i found that hard too the last couple of days!

Nesting might finally have started... just spent half an hour scrubbing the skirting boards in the kitchen with cleaner. Mind you it suddenly struck me I've never done it in 2 years, and there was lots of stuck on toddler-thrown food... and I was listening to Radio 2 on the Mumsnet debacle... hoping getting on my hands and knees will encourage the baby down and out... too hot now, and they said it weighed 6 lb last week, so should be 7 before too long... plenty big enough for 'down there' I think!!!

mabel1973 · 08/08/2006 15:30

I haven't listened to the radio or watched tv all day, so missed the thing on radio 2 about mumsnet and you know who. Looking at some of the site stuff threads though, sounds like there is loads of coverage, which can only be a good thing.

liquidclocks · 08/08/2006 17:43

Is anyone else getting the giggles and in their minds comparing Harry Potter's resident villain to the current MN situation - it's just that people keep referring to 'you know who' and 'she who must not be named'.

Red hot pokery feelings 'down there' today - maybe somethings happening and I really am nesting - can only hope!

Coriander73 · 08/08/2006 20:09

Gosh, what's it all come too?!! I don't log in for 48 hours but read the papers this morning about "the situation" with "you know who" (yep, Liquid very Potteresque!!!)...can't believe it...seems rather petty if you ask me! What ever happened to freedom of speech? Not much else I should say really...just hope that MN continues because I for one would really upset if, after all this time virtual together we never got to hear about each others new arrivals etc etc etc.

Saw MW this pm...says I'm measuring 36 weeks for 35 but that the baby isn't that big just that I'm..PLUMP!!! Well, I know that but let's not state the obvious when I'm feeling as attractive as a cow's bottom

Spare room is painted & we're hoping to move DD into it this weekend. Spent some time up there with her this evening & she kept saying pretty Mummy...! On a very exciting note..she did her first poo on the toilet at nursery today!!!!!!! I'm so proud..please allow me to indulge for 10 seconds!!!!

Not long ladies.....!

Marls001 · 08/08/2006 20:56

Mabel - would love to; it's contained in the online archives of local paper, but I think you'd have to actually subscribe to view the article ... could e-mail it to you, though ...

Would anyone consider setting up on a more private forum like a Yahoo group? So can post real names, photos of babies, family, etc., without worrying they could be seen by the entire Internet?

clairemow · 08/08/2006 21:20

Marls, I think that's a great idea - no clue how to do it though...!!! I am always wary about saying too much about myself on here in case someone knows me!

Seeing midwife on Thursday am. Think baby has dropped though, feels like a bowling ball over my pelvis!

pol26 · 08/08/2006 21:27

It would be great to keep in touch with all you ladies and share piccies etc....!!! Marls you have a great idea there!!!

My email is realmarypoppins at yahoo dot co dot uk

Not sure how to set up a group though.

liquidclocks · 08/08/2006 22:52

that's a lovely idea Marls but I've no idea how to go about it. My yahoo email is liquidclocks at yahoo dot com, I'm already a member of freecycle inn our are so know the message boards well! It wuld be good to see your article too - post it if you can.

It's been strange hearing about MN today on the news. It just seems so relevant to me - don't know what I'd do without at the moment - spend more time with DH maybe?

Cori - your DH obviously finds you very attractive or he wouldn't be so frustrated!

Mabel - hope your rash is going down and you managed to find something for it. Last thing you need when you can't reach your feet.

Got my 34 wk appointment in one week from now so please send baby turning vibes my way or I'll be being sent off to be manhandled by a consultant! (I'm also fed up of having my bladder used as a football - even worse than the rib pinging I had from DS!)

Oh yes, weird this, but has anyone else found that their ears have been tickly or got blocked? Mine are driving me nuts!

Hope everyone's OK and bumps are well!

pol26 · 08/08/2006 22:57

Liquidclocks- I have had real waxy ears!!! Every day they are twitchy and have been using cotton buds often (tut tut)... But yes I understand!
Good luck with the baby turning vibes!

calvemjoe · 08/08/2006 23:00

I have itchy ears too!

Great to hear from lysettes and hellkat, glad everything is going ok x

liquidclocks · 08/08/2006 23:04

I thought I was alone!!! Not that it's god you have itchy ears too but did wonder if it was pg related!

Thanks for the vibes - he's having a jig at the moment

Marls001 · 09/08/2006 04:30

Realize it looks late but it's just 10:30 ... I'm getting ready to call it a day ... had a scare when logged in about an hour ago & couldn't access mumsnet ... had to quickly remind myself that it was actually 3 am UK time , but did go ahead and set a site up on Yahoo for us. My Moms' Club here uses Yahoo so I was familiar with it ... I've posted the article there and a few pics of me & family. It has a message board just like this, as well as a place to put files and photos.
All you do is go to groups.yahoo.com/group/sept2006 and click "join this group" ... you may have to create a Yahoo name and password if you don't already have one. I'm hoping this might be helpful to thread members to keep in touch over chaotic times ahead!

Congrats Cori - wish DS would get on with it!! Still not interested in potty ...

Liquid - that's definitely one thing I will not miss ... those sudden hits to the bladder! Ugh.

Definitely nesting here ... have been making the Christmas card list!

clairemow · 09/08/2006 08:04

well done Marls - I've been and joined, membership is pending - I think you have to approve me!

Had a better night's sleep last night, only woke up once, but it's so much cooler that must have helped. DS has a cold (eh?!) - I think he's getting the last molars as he also has acid poo bottom... so he was awake at 11.30 - gave him medised and then he was ok. Phew.

First day of mat leave today - hair cut and highlights at 10 - feels very naughty.. good chance to read a trashy mag all about silly celebreties!!

Sorry to hear about the ears! Mine aren't itchy, but they are a bit blocked.

Coriander73 · 09/08/2006 09:05

Clairemow, I had my hair cut & coloured yday & it feels great!!! Now, what to do about the waxing dilema??!!

Great idea Marls...am going to sign up in a jiffy.

mabel1973 · 09/08/2006 09:06

Hi all

great idea about the forum Marls - will have a look at the link later.
Quick question ladies... the rash on my feet is really quite raised, almost like heat blisters and itches like mad, and I think it may have spread to my left hand around my ring finger as that is itching too. I am sure we discussed something like this a few months ago, but I can't remember what it was (i did suffer with something similar on my hands after having DS but just let it go by itself) any ideas? If not don't worry I may start a separate thread. or just go to the doctors!

Coriander73 · 09/08/2006 09:14

Mabel, go & see MW ASAP...itching could be a sign of pre-eclampsia or something. Best not to faff around with it, it's probably nothing but do please get yourself checked out. I think you need to be very wary if both feet & hands start to itch & you have a rash....keep us posted.

Bella23 · 09/08/2006 09:50

Morning ladies

Marls - fab idea on the group, have joined but think you need to approve me!

Mabel - agree with others you need to get that rash checked asap as could be something sinister. Best to get someone look at it

liquidclocks · 09/08/2006 10:55

Mabel - I was talking a while ago about a condition I developed with DS1 called PUPPP (sometimes called PEP). It usually starts on your tummy, then goes to hands and feet, then everywhere else. I assume you've tried the antifungal stuff with no success? I think you should call your midwife, usually itching in pg is nothing to worry about but sometimes it can be a sign that your liver isn't working properly - though that kind of itching doesn't usually cause a rash (you get red because you scratch). here is a good summary page of the different sorts of rashes/itching associated with pg. But call your m/w to be on the safe side. Best treatment I found was luke warmto cold baths and Eurax lotion which you can get from chemists - it has the usual 'consult doc if pg or BF' warning on it but my doc and pharmacist said it was ok. If it gets really bad you can use a mild hydrocortisone cream twice a day. If it is PUPPP don't bother with calomine or moisturisers - they make the itching worse.

homemama · 09/08/2006 11:21

Sorry for lack of posting this week. DH was up most of the night with me holding my head over a bucket! It's come back to get me.

Marls, group sounds great. I'll have a go when I can.

Mabel, I agree it's better to get checked out just in case.
