B-H contractions have been so bad ... DH said "are you SURE this isn't it?" last night but that would be a month early; also haven't felt them at all in my back, like real contractions with DS ... haven't had a B-H since 8:30 last night, but did scare me enough to get labor bag list, birth plan, & 0-8 week schedule out again from DS1 and update them !! Hopefully DS2 will coorperate and stay in there for at least 2 more weeks.

Feeling so different about this time around as far as newborn stage ... I will be able to see the potential so much more clearly ... saw a 9-month-old at DS's school this morning & she was SO cute!! I'm actually looking forward to it this time, instead of having the sinking feeling my life will be over ... well, it was over, as I knew it, but far from over, otherwise!

Appyday & Homemama - sorry for delay!! you're all set ...
Homemama, hope all's okay.

Mandaz, i'll e-mail you some things!

Also having hip pain here ... helps me to dig a hand into lower back when up & trying to make it into bathroom in middle of the night. I'm definitely looking elderly and decrepit for those late-night toilet trips.

Congratulations Bella! Enjoy just lounging at home!!

Welcome Mmiotte & Gizmo, & welcome back to Intergalacticwalrus!

Lady garden question!! Love it ....for what it's worth I caught sight of myself in the mirror the other day & decided that I was obviously in denial & yes the bits do need a trim....so have booked myself in for a wax next Wed but then realised I have booked DD off nursery for the whole week (she attends just 3 days) (so we can potter & do stuff the two of us before lo) so she'll have to come with & I'll have to be brave & not squeal otherwise she'll get upset!!

Have been feeling the baby much lower down now....stil feeling nervous (just because of last time) & not helped by the fact that my current MW says not to go for an epidural....but when the BH feel so strong I just think how on earth can I do it without? I consider myself to have a strongish pain threshold but I still remember how much they hurt after 10 hours of labour & just pleaded with them to do it!! Just as well as I had another 12 hours to go...

Well, semi packed the bag today as DH has been hassling me. Bought some newborn nappies & just couldn't believe how small they were...& aren't those lovely maternity pads a throw back to when we all wore (those that didn't wear tampons!) simplicity at school? Remember how HUGE they were?!! Wanted to wash the babygros etc but it's rained none stop & (I know this will sound silly) but I wanted them to have that lovely "just dried outside smell" when I put them into bag!!! Keep thinking it's going to be early but I so want to get DD 2nd bday out the way on the 4th....but I guess when lo is ready that will be that...

Marls.....am I all set now too?

Homemama - was just going to say if I'd remembered correctly you'd already had baby's internal workings checked at a late scan so not to worry too much and the too much water thing (if it is that) might be part of what you already knew about. Sorry if I was thinking of someone else. It looks like it's happened to a fair few people though with nothing too worry about.

Dropped flowers off with my friend today and gave her a big hug - she was in brave face mode but they're coming over tomorrow to babysit DS so will be able tot alk to her properly then.

Found a voucher from valentines day that DH got for me (I think there was buy one get one free) for a back neck and shoulder massage - have booked it for tomorrow - yay! Going to ask my acupuncturist on monday to do my hips instead of my head I think too...

Still haven't done any work - went to the bookshelf and picked up my baby routine book instead for some revision - I am hopeless!

Marls001 · 11/08/2006 20:11

Cori - yes!

Liquid - same as it says to me! "attachment (not stored)". What a pain. E-mailed yahoo customer care, so we'll see.
Forgot to say belated sorry about your friend - you are being very sensitive about it, which is great ... & I think the right thing to do ... then again, was amazed that my friend here, who had the m/c, is doing so well with me!
We had a moment out with the girls at a restaurant last month when I said, "oh - you can feel his foot!" (forgetting) - and she put her hand on my stomach & got teary-eyed; when she saw look of horror and remorse on my face she said, "you think I'm crying for my baby that I lost? oh, I'm not! I'm just so happy - thank you so much for letting me touch your stomach!!" So I was so relieved ... feel so lucky not to have had the heartbreak of m/c myself. Found out from Mom very recently that I was almost one - (!) very heavy bleeding with me in month 2 & they thought I was gone, but 2 months' bed rest later, all was fine. These talks with Mom making me wish for a DD ... but we don't want three ... sigh.

Hello all you ladies new and old!

Had a bad night too last night, didn't help because I knew I had to be up early as visiting my sister today. My hips are waking me every hour....! And i'm having to haul myself up and turn over. My 'chopped fanny' feeling (spd)Sorry if tmi) is getting worse. Makes turning over in bed much worse and getting up, especially if I need the loo quickly- as we all know doing anything quickly at 30+ weeks is Impossible!

Was rather stressed at my sisters today too as she has no stair gate so DD loves making a bee line for the stairs etc... and getting into everything she shouldn't. As per any nearly tweo year old.

Soooooo happy the weather is cool now. Very very very happy that I can actually use a quilt in bed!

Talking of sex, feeling alittle sad for DP as he hasn't had any for ages... and I know when bubba is here he will have no chance. Feeling I should maybe make the effort. But seens as I feel like i'm ready for harpooning, hardly the best frame of mind to have a bit is it?

Laughing still at the grooming the lady garden thread... Still deciding what to do about it. Didn't realise that more people leave it 'au naturel' as when preg with Dd was more religious about keeping well trimmed, this time though really think I just can't be bothered.

1Baby1Bump · 11/08/2006 22:53

freakin' bloody heartburn again!!!

sorry bout that!

pol26 · 11/08/2006 22:59

I am drinking gaviscon- which does nothing but I live in hope it might, especially at 3am...

1Baby1Bump · 11/08/2006 23:01

i have been stuffing myself with choc chip cookies during bb but they dont usually cause it.
it never seems to be the same thing so i dont know what to avoid!

pol26 · 11/08/2006 23:05

My mw during last preg told me choc made it worse ... which upset me... somehow though cherry bakewells don't though!

liquidclocks · 11/08/2006 23:10

sex? - what's that again? Could someone tell my DH...?

Pol - we've never had a stairgate - is that really unusual then?

Marls001 · 11/08/2006 23:11

Pol - LOL at "harpooning"!
How could chocolate make ANYTHING worse? Don't believe the hype.

1Baby1Bump · 11/08/2006 23:15

how many tums should i try b4 i give up?
ive had 2 20 mins ago.

pol26 · 11/08/2006 23:18

My opinion is chocolate cures all... but not acid, more's the pity.

We have always had a stairgate, I just feel safer with them and some of my house is out of bounds to DD. She would delight in getting upstairs and emptying out my knicker drawer, wardrobe, and genrally causing mischief.

Glad i'm not the only one not 'having-it', makes me feel slightly better that DP can cope.

1Baby1Bump · 11/08/2006 23:21

ok. im going for 2 more.....no one tried to stop me....

liquidclocks · 12/08/2006 08:06

The abstinence isn't my choice!

So the stairgates aren't really about the stairs then - more location control! That makes me feel better, I always close doors instead (he hasn't learned to open them yet - we're dreading that developmental step.

Coriander73 · 12/08/2006 10:39

Oh Liquid...maybe we shoud swap places then?!!! The thought makes me feel sick whereas poor DH has been gagging since Jan!!!!!!

Hello all

Homemamma - I hope everything goes ok with your scan.

I've had really bad lower backache all night and morning. It keeps coming and going and feels like really sharp needles but kindof throbs.

I'm going to pack LO's hospital bag today though so I'm quite excited about that.

Does anyone use a nappy wrapper? Are they a good idea? I've seen them in Morrisons for £15 and my mate said she'd get one as she'd prefer to get something practical for LO. Just wondered what people's experiences of them were.

mandaz · 12/08/2006 13:14

Marls - I just got your email, thanks very much. I've sent you a reply

Another question - does anyone have any experience of Gingerbread? Are they a good group to join for single mums?

liquidclocks · 12/08/2006 13:15

LOL Cori - maybe we should just swap the hrmone levels thoguh or our DH's might think we don't love 'em! I'd probably had the whole dislocated hip feeling if we tried anyway so maybe it's a good thing - just hope he knows the next window of opportunity will be after Christmas!

Mandaz - my friend has a nappy bin with a wrapper attached if that's what you mean - the're helpful if you have space for it but tbh we just got good at tying them up quickly and chucking them in the bin. A really useful prezzie (if you haven't got already) for about the same money is a newborn bath support - baby baths are cute but much easier to put them in the big bath (and getting in with them is nice) as there's no having to lift a big bath of water (can be a strain on already weak back - I did mine in doing it last time) and also no contorted way of having to support neck, head arm etc while trying to wash them!

off to write my essay now - I'm going to self impose a 'no mumsnet' rule until it's finished... I may be some time

angelfaces · 12/08/2006 13:39

Hiya all, i'm due in 5 weeks and my baby's still not engaged, my midwife says this is quite normal buy having read on the net a bit im beginning to get the idea that its not, anyone else in the same situation??

compo · 12/08/2006 14:04

Hi everyone and welcome to Angelfaces.
Is this your first child? My first didn't engage until right at the end and with a second they often don't engage until the labour so I wouldn't worry.
Sorry to hear you're going through a stressful time again Homemama. Fingers crossed all is well.
Well it's the 12th today and my due date is the 12th September so I guess a month away
Last day at work today luckily as even sitting down makes my ribs ache.
For all those suffering from acid do what I did - follow Angeliz' advice and get Rathinidine on prescription, it really is a life saver. It takes the acid away completely - the other remedies just suppress it.

angelfaces · 12/08/2006 14:11

Yes compo its my first, due 2 days after you, feelin much better now you told me that was beginnig to stress a bit!

mandaz · 12/08/2006 14:12

Compo - I hadn't realised we're due on the same day Or if I did know I've forgotton - memory not so good these days!

compo · 12/08/2006 14:16

ooh are we?!! My due date from LMP is 12th but scan date is 16th. Midwife still goes by 12th so I'm sticking to that! I was thinking maybe we should have a list of when we're all due - maybe when we hit September?
