Just got 2 very very (very very very) faint lines. The magical due date doo-dah says 3rd Oct is the magic number. Who knows? It could all go tits up still, but if you, like me, suspect you might be in the early stages it would be nice to chat.

I'll start the list shall I?

Bump im only 6 weeks, so not a lot to see but it was a really exciting moment to see the little flicker! If it was a choice thing like people were discussing I really don't think it's worth paying a lot of money to see tbh.

Akachan it's normal to worry about these things but at least your doctor told you what you wanted to hear.

Just for the record I would gladly share my symptoms with you all if I could! !

familyfortunes · 10/02/2014 19:38

Hi everyone, and congratulations...can I join??
Bought 4 tests over the weekend which showed a very faint second line under bright light...just used a digital test...and it is confirmed Smile

familyfortunes Just realised I never said, mine is DC1 :-)

ohthegoats · 10/02/2014 20:39

I'm the deputy head. Even worse in terms of a replacement, and my head is job searching for the new year too. I'm due to be in year 6 with a tricky bunch as of September. Don't know when will be best to say anything.

Binglesplodge · 10/02/2014 20:44

I rang up to make an appointment with the gp today (I know, how keen am I?!) but the receptionist said to wait until I've missed 2 periods. Isn't that getting on a for being a bit late by the time I'm referred to midwife etc? Or am I just being an idiot? It seems to vary a lot depending on where you live...

pebble82 · 10/02/2014 20:46

Can anyone help. The GP today told me I was about 6weeks but as I know when OV was that puts me at 4 weeks 5 days (it was 2 weeks 5 days ago, 22nd Jan). If I go by last AF that would be 5+3

Which is it?

Tory79 · 10/02/2014 20:49

Hello, sorry I haven't been on for a bit, feeling rather poop at present!

Who else is pregnant with a toddler and already feeling like an awful mum (please let it not just be me) I feel nauseous all the time and am so tired I want to just curl up in to a ball and stay in bed for the next 8 months!

I'm finding that I'm getting so snappy with ds, I don't have the energy to play, I just want some blimmin peace, but of course that's just never going to happen. The nausea means that I just don't want to think about cooking for him, I just want to hide and stuff my face with crap which is the only thing that makes me feel any better! We had a busy day today and had such a rubbish bedtime as we were both soooooo tired. He is such a good boy (for a 2 year old!) and I hate myself for getting cross and impatient with him, and it's only going to get worse Sad

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 20:50

I was under the impression that they go from AF date as generally people don't know when they OV so there is always an element of guesswork. I would say you are at 5wks + 3. How did the doctor work out the 6 wks? X

pebble82 · 10/02/2014 20:56

She had a wheel thing. After asking date of last AF she moved it and it said about 6 weeks.

Thanks for the vote. 5 weeks 3 days it is :-)

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 20:58

Try the bounty and NHS calculators as they predict the due date. Tbh at this stage, doctors and midwives aren't that worried at precisely how far we are along at this stage as they will simply go by the scans later on. I think we care a lot more about the accuracy!!! X

Bumpforme2014 · 10/02/2014 21:16

Hi pebble, I was confused about this last week. Basically GP uses date of last AF because most women don't know when they ovulated but ultimately you conceive on your ovulation date and just add two weeks onto that date to get accurate estimate. GP says I am 7 weeks on weds going by AF but because of long cycle and late ovulation I know I am 6 weeks and would prefer to go by that so I know when I am really out of the danger zone. I would say you were 4 weeks but be interested to see what others say. Hope that helps.

puppythedog · 10/02/2014 21:26

Binglesplodge
You can make an appointment any time you like regardless of what the Receptionist says. Just ring and ask for an appointment as soon as is free/at your convenience and explain you don't want to discuss why until you see the doctor.
You may have fallen foul of a policy or a receptionist working too hard to protect the GP's time. Two missed periods could be 9+ weeks right? Sounds daft to me.
If you get no joy with that you might wish to complain to the practice manager. Seems unreasonable to have to wait.

Loopylu84 · 10/02/2014 21:30

Binglesplodge have you checked if you can self refer directly to a midwife and skip the GP?
Where we are there is this campaign called ASAP which stands for As Soon As you're Pregnant, the whole idea is to encourage women not to delay in accessing services and I think they aim to get you seen by 8 weeks for booking

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 10/02/2014 21:37

Hi to all the newbies.
Cramps here too I'm afraid. It's pants and scary.

I self-referred to the MW on Weds so I'm waiting to here about scans and appointment. Going by past experience I should start getting letters at the end of the weekish.

akachan I'm glad the dr put your mind at rest. I had a massive bleed with DS at about 10 weeks and have had 2 MCs so I know how horrible it is.

mrsb I hope the sickness stays away ehough for you to keep hydrated! You're the 1st heartbeat on the thread! How fab!

Binglesplodge · 10/02/2014 22:15

Thanks puppy, I think I'll call again tomorrow and hope I get someone else: I won't say what the appointment is for if possible! As I teach it would be way easier to get an appointment for next week (half term) than wait any longer AND have to arrange it around work... Plus I'm worried that if I don't see a doc til 8 or 9 weeks then if the midwife is booked up I might end up waiting ages for my booking in app.

I got the feeling the receptionist was implying that I'm not "properly" pregnant until it's a bit further on but maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid...

queenasanti3 · 11/02/2014 06:14

Hiya everyone, these weeks seem to be dragging dont they, ive still not much symptoms apart from slight nausea every few days, sometimes I forget iam actually pregnant, I had sickness, and migraines around this point in my last pregnancy,.
Akachan and Mrsb glad you are feeling better.
Purple: this is my dc2 my dd is almost 6 months, I also wasn't expecting to fall pregnant so quick either, looks like we will have our hands full x

officelady · 11/02/2014 06:24

Morning ladies - another day of being pregnant ticked off! Today I am 7 weeks exactly! My baby is the size of a blueberry - they grow fast!! This time last week it was only a lentil!
Binglesplodge it is really confusing how the systems vary from area to area, isn't it? When I called into the surgery yesterday I was expecting to have to see my GP but in our area this is completely optional, they don't 'confirm' your pregnancy, just take your word for it, although you can ask to see a doctor if you have any concerns or want any questions answered. And the booking-in appointments aren't done until 10-11 weeks at the earliest. So the first contact I will have with a medical professional will be nearly 3 months into my pregnancy. This does seem a little crazy - I mean, I have been taking a folic acid supplement and gave up drinking and don't smoke, but there are surely plenty of women who don't know about these things which are vital in the early weeks! It's bonkers Confused

mrsb87 · 11/02/2014 07:42

Morning! Feeling fresh after nearly 12 hours sleep! Shocking, I don't think I've ever slept that much before! My body must have needed it.
I agree with you on that one officelady, it does sound like a long time before you get any kind of official advice I guess. sounds like they are relying on people's common sense, unfortunately theres a lot of people around who seriousley lack that!

MrsF2510 · 11/02/2014 07:46

It sure is another day officelady! 7 weeks - that's fab!

No in my area, the doctor doesn't confirm the pregnancy either. Am seeing the midwife at the end of next week - at about 7.5-8 weeks though.

puppythedog · 11/02/2014 08:31

Good Morning all. Great job on a good night's sleep MrsB87
Mrsthedog and I are taking it in turns to get a full nights sleep/part nights sleep with fretting. 5 weeks today we think.

We went to our GP's last night to book an appointment and we were given the midwife'a number. We'll let you know what we are offered when they ring us back :-) I'm hoping for an appointment that's either convenient for me with work in Half term for Mrsthedog or a bit of notice so i can rearrange appointments at work.

It feels a bit weird I'm the only Dad to be on the thread, is there a dad to be place on the internet where they are all collected sharing their thoghts, fears and worries?

RunDMC · 11/02/2014 09:26

Struggling to keep pace with this thread ! Also think I didn't make it onto the latest stats list so will add myself.

Tory you are not alone - 2.5 year old toddler here and struggling to keep up with his pace as nausea and general exhaustion has kicked in. There's been a lot of TV this week which is not my normal babysitter but DS is delighted !

6+4 here and definitely feeling sicker and more tired than I remember the first time round. Bleurgh.. Trying to stop random thoughts that it might be twins entering my head... No logic or reason to it.. just something else to fret over !

Thanks
