Just got 2 very very (very very very) faint lines. The magical due date doo-dah says 3rd Oct is the magic number. Who knows? It could all go tits up still, but if you, like me, suspect you might be in the early stages it would be nice to chat.

I'll start the list shall I?

Don't worry akachan, you are not being pathetic!!
I had the tiniest brown smear and I felt my whole world crumble. I hadn't realise how important this pregnancy was for me until then!
Don't get majorly stressed about this. It is very common. However, I was told at the hospital that it's always good to get it checked out (I was worried about bothering the doctors).

akachan · 10/02/2014 14:31

Thanks zahazie that's useful to know. I'll see if I can find a walk in place around here.

MrsCaptainReynolds · 10/02/2014 15:30

Hope you get some reassurance akachan.

Took my 2.5 year old DS swimming this morning. Was dreading taking my seabands off, but amazingly felt really, really well in the pool. Honestly I think the chloriney smell neutralised my nausea! Was quite sad to have to leave :-(

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 16:42

Oh akachan, sorry to hear that and of course you would be worried - it's only natural. Fingers crossed your mind is put at ease soon.

sazzlehopes · 10/02/2014 16:45

Akachan - there is never harm in asking. If they think there is no need to worry they will tell you that, don't feel like you have to keep telling yourself it isn't something to worry about. There is no harm in making a call, or popping in to see someone. The care in this country is generally amazing, free, and amazing. Go ask, put your mind at ease. x

Cake - I'm the same a you. Not even a sniff of a symptom, which has its ups and downs. Pleased not to be like poor mrsb, but feels odd not to feel preggo at all. I was like you though and the same with dc1.

Purple - wow with a 5 month old i wasn't drinking much anyway due to lack of sleep! Maybe that could be an excuse?! Say dc is teething maybe and you are avoiding drinking too much because you've been up loads in the night. I generally find people don't notice if you don't draw attention to it, it is pretty easy to nurse a drink all night, wander around with it, or get your OH to drink a bit on occasion!

pebble82 · 10/02/2014 17:28

Just back from GP appointment. Pretty much a waste of time but she was very nice. Gave me phone number of the midwife to book in with them as I'm low risk. Too late to call now but going to tomorrow.

Hope you're ok akachan. We're always here to 'talk' to. Never feel bad for being worried. X

Bumpforme2014 · 10/02/2014 17:29

Akachan, I hope your okay and I am sure it is nothing to worry about, easy for me to say I know. I also worry about being at work if the worst was to happen and what I would do.

I'm now paranoid I'm not having cramps when most of you seem to be....why are we such worriers, just can't win!

Did you know your boobs grow more in the first three months then any other time during pregnancy? I will need to invest in maternity bras soon as getting so uncomfortable in normal bras.

pebble82 · 10/02/2014 17:48

bump I know, it's silly. I was worried about cramps at 3am, now they've gone (along with sore boob feeling) I want them back. No pleasing me!

GP pretty much smiled sweetly and told me to stop worrying. Felt my tummy and deemed me to be fine (what are they feeling for when they do that??)

Mrsthedog · 10/02/2014 17:51

Sending love to Akachan from myself and Puppythedog.

If we are pooling pregnancy symptoms, I would just like to share mine!

Last week (pre-test) I felt hot and faint (like a virus) with stomach cramps like I was about to come on.

Up until yesterday I was feeling that there was some serious refurbishment going on and it was keeping me awake.

Today however, my bladder seems to have shrunk to the size of a walnut and I feel like I need to pee but when I avail myself of the facilities, the result is fairly disappointing. I am a secondary school teacher and cannot keep on going up and down the stairs during lessons. Am considering Tena lady as a solution. Is it too early to be abandoning any hope of continence or dignity? Grin

ohthegoats · 10/02/2014 18:08

I'm a teacher too. Last week we had ofsted, and I was exhausted and suffering with horrendous stomach pains. Was super!

I think mine is a combo of wind and uterus cramps, since when I'm home and burp all day, it's not so bad! I'm sort of expecting it all to go wrong any time, but I've felt exactly the same since even before I realised I might be pregnant, so have had plenty of time to get used to feeling anxious. I'm trying to go with 'what will be, will be', and the outcome isn't really under my control.

puppythedog · 10/02/2014 18:15

MrsB, we're also sending you kind thoughts and wishes. No fun going to hospital I'm sure but at least your hydration will be sorted and they can use the fluids to sort out anything like minerals, salts and glucose if necessary.

We're in the what if the pregnancy goes away stage of worry. We think we're five weeks and can't avoid telling some people because we're crap with our own secrets but really want to blink and find ourselves at ten weeks.

reiterate our positive vibes for Akachan.

ohthegoats · 10/02/2014 18:31

I'm hoping to get away with 15 weeks. We live away from parents, and are going away for a fortnight at 12 weeks. If I get really sick, then may have to tell work, other than that, keeping all to ourselves to avoid anyone else worrying. My SIL had ivf twice, so we knew about my nephews from day 1. Nerve wracking for my parents I noticed, so want to protect them if I can. Especially since holiday is to Cambodia! Can't imagine that'll go down well, best they don't know until afterwards.

TroubleAndFyfe · 10/02/2014 18:33

Hope you're okay akachan!
Grin mrsthedog! Hooray for super efficient kidneys eh? I'm very grateful for my toddler's toilet trips every 1.5 hours, I'm desperate by then!
I went to the GP this afternoon, he took some details, gave me the number for the midwife and gave me a flu jab. I have a slightly dead arm! Going to call them tomorrow as it was too late by the time I left. Good to get stuff moving. 6 weeks tomorrow! SmileSmileSmileSmileSmileSmile

TroubleAndFyfe · 10/02/2014 18:36

Oh yes, gin and tonic/ginger ale worked really well this weekend. I had a glass hidden in the cupboard which I added shots to each time I made myself another drink so that the gin was going from the bottle! Wink

officelady · 10/02/2014 18:44

Evening all! I had a word with myself today and called into the GP surgery to get myself into 'the system', something I was dreading doing, don't ask me why! Maybe because I'm still in denial that it is possible to get accidentally pregnant at the grand old age of 42 with a 16 year age gap to my (current) youngest child Blush
Anyway I needn't have worried, the receptionist was lovely and laughed when I told her I had done eleventy million tests. She said there was no need to see the doctor and referred me straight to the midwife team who will apparently contact me in a few weeks time for my booking-in appointment. I'll be about 10-11 weeks by then, I hope that my scan will get sorted shortly afterwards.

All in all it was a bit of an anticlimax really - and so the waiting and gusset-checking will continue for a few more weeks.

mrsb87 · 10/02/2014 18:46

Thanks ever for the positive vibes, im home after a long day. They had a real problem finding a vein to hook me upto, I have a few holes from where they missed! Generally I feel much better, a lot more with it and I've eaten and enjoyed it! Nom nom. They've given me some extra anti sickness tablets on top of the ones I got yesterday.
Unfortunately all this meant I had to tell work and dh his business partner, I think in this situation its best a few people know so we get the help we need if I have to go back into hospital again.
I can't remember who it was who asked but yes its hyperemesis which is what Kate Middleton had too.
We had a scan too just to make sure everything is okay with the little bean and we saw a heartbeat! Tiniest most pointless little dot on the screen but we definitely could pick up the heart beat, dh said it's made it feel very real for him now seeing that.

Ackachan I hope its just routine bleeding, just the egg bedding down nice and deep maybe?

akachan · 10/02/2014 18:52

Hi all, thank you so much for the lovely messages (although they've made me cry!). Saw GP who just said it was very normal and I should go back if it's heavier. It's still very light so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm trying to be philosophical and just accept that it may not be meant to be.

Sorry again for the melodrama.

officelady · 10/02/2014 18:57

How exciting to see a heartbeat Mrsb!! I hope the tablets do the trick. I had terrible sickness with my ds and felt like death for months, even when I stopped puking. I think every ounce of health had been wrung out of my body and it took a long time to build the reserves back up. Hoping that I won't get it this time - I didn't have much with my dd apart from waves of nausea which were quite manageable.
I don't have many symptoms so far, apart from nipples you could hang a wet dufflecoat off, as my dh helpfully pointed out. the prick

officelady · 10/02/2014 18:58

Sorry - cross posted with you akachan. Good news!

thegirlwhouk · 10/02/2014 19:06

Wow what a day for everyone here!

Akachan glad you are ok, fingers crossed.

And Mrs B, sorry you had to go to hospital but good news that everything is going well.

I'm feeling very sorry for myself today and I don't know why!! I'm desperate to have some more symptoms as I just feel so normal at the moment, no real sickness or anything. But then when I actually stop to think about it, I am totally exhausted and feeling very flat. I'm guessing the hormones are making me feel this way. I'm usually a very busy and positive person but right now I just can't be bothered with anything!

Please tell me I'm not the only one feeling this way? I'm forcing myself to stop testing every other day. Those tests don't lie!

ohthegoats - I'm a teacher too :-) Good to know I'm not the only one. I'm dreading telling my boss as it'll be too late by then for them to get an experienced teacher in and they'll have a mad rush to find an NQT during the summer term. I'm holding out as long as I possibly can!!!

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 19:08

Akachan please don't apologise, it's not melodramatic. Am so pleased you've been reassured. Nature is evil at times isn't it - if you hadn't known you were pregnant, you might think it was a period (which would be crappy) and if you know you are pregnant (you would think its a miscarriage). X

Bumpforme2014 · 10/02/2014 19:10

Yay mrsB a heartbeat as well, how far along are you now?

The girlwhowork, I know what you mean time seems to be dragging and lack of symptoms make it feel even more surreal. We should count ourselves lucky though!

Mrsthedog · 10/02/2014 19:19

Thegirlwhouk and ohmygoats - I told my mentor today that I was pregnant (I am an NQT) just so someone in the department could be thinking vaguely about a replacement but with all the usual caveats, early days blah blah blah. i just thought that it would explain any strange pregnancy-like behaviour and would cover me if I had a funny turn.

Probably not the wisest thing to do, but hey, it's done.

Vis-a-vis taking tests - I just took another test to make sure. Bit potty and paranoid. Still preggers. Phew.

thegirlwhouk · 10/02/2014 19:24

Bumpforme2014 I know! Thats the worst thing!! I know I'm lucky and also it's only 4 weeks 4 days!! It's only because I have short cycles that I even know I'm pregnant!

thegirlwhouk · 10/02/2014 19:28

Mrsthedog At least you'll get your NQT year out of the way :-) I have told the school nurse, she's always on site. I can go straight to her if anything goes wrong and she'll come straight to me if there any illnesses I need to know of. I'm lucky we have such good on site healthcare really. I think if it wasn't for her I'd be planning to tell my line manager before 12 weeks, just to cover my back.
