Just got 2 very very (very very very) faint lines. The magical due date doo-dah says 3rd Oct is the magic number. Who knows? It could all go tits up still, but if you, like me, suspect you might be in the early stages it would be nice to chat.

I'll start the list shall I?

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 07:10

Wow thanks goodfruit! Well that's another day ladies for those of us on crotch watch!! ;) I will be 6 weeks on Wed - I heard that chance of mc lowers to 5% - is that true or correct IF a heartbeat is detected around then?

Bumpforme2014 · 10/02/2014 07:21

Hi MrsF2510 we are due date buddies and I am also six weeks on Weds and cannot wait. Yes the risk lowers significantly for us on Weds so it can't come quick enough. The heartbeat can develop anytime from six to eight weeks which is why the risk lowers once again at eight weeks. Once we get to eight weeks DH and I are going to tell a few people because if worse was to happen then I would want people to know.

He was also not very keen on the early scan at eight weeks but I think by the time we get there, the thought I waiting another four weeks until we can relax will be enough to make us book it!

I'm seeing GP on Friday for booking in appointment, hoping she will tell me my scan date.

mrsb87 · 10/02/2014 07:47

Morning gang, just a quick update. Sorry I haven't had chance to read through to catch up but welcome newbies Smile
I am off for a day at the hospital to get some fluids in me. Despite taking cylizine all day yesterday by last night I was still vomiting and again as soon as I got up thismorning. Dh has got the day off work to keep me company as I've never been into hospital before and im a bit scared!
Hope you all have a good day x

Bumpforme2014 · 10/02/2014 07:48

Noooo mrsb87 you poor thing, it's for the best, good luck and keep us updated.

MundayCakes85 · 10/02/2014 07:52

Mrsb sorry to hear you're still feeling poorly. Hope your day isn't too rubbish, at least you've got DH to keep you entertained. FX you feel better later.
I'm back to work today, got a 50-odd hour week ahead of me Sad but will try to keep up with the thread x

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 07:52

Hi bump! That's good as I am so tempted to tell my mum after the 6 week mark. My sister told me and DH, my mum and dad and her mother and father in law all at 5 weeks so I think I am doing so well. Went out with my mother in law and father in law yest evening and was so tempted to tell them. Am still trying not to mention the pregnancy to DH as he doesn't seem that excited yet, probably my fault as I did highlight that it is early days and Mcs do happen. Yes I'm not going to book an early scan - it would only be because if my sheer impatience and they can't always guarantee hearing a heartbeat etc so I am going to dutifully wait (plus it's a day you'd have to try and get out of work without raising suspicion!)

TroubleAndFyfe · 10/02/2014 07:55

Sad Mrsb! You poor thing. Here's hoping you're just getting all the negative symptoms out right at the start and the rest of your pregnancy will be smooth sailing!

MrsF2510 · 10/02/2014 08:10

Oh mrsb, that's rubbish. Sorry to hear that but at least you will be looked after. X

sazzlehopes · 10/02/2014 08:18

Oh mrsb so sorry to hear that, that is what my friend had. And Kate too? As in HRH?!!! Best place to be though, they'll look after you and make sure all is ok with the baby too. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

Pickofthedocs · 10/02/2014 08:22

Mrsb87 massive sympathies I started being sick at 6 weeks and ended up on drips too at regular intervals. Unfortunately it only stopped a day or two before ds was born. BUT on bright side only mild car sickness so far second time round, And ds came out v healthy, lovely long eyelashes and shiny thick hair, nurse said to me being v sick can mean strong hair growth ?Shock.

And it obviously hadn't put me off having another. Hang on in there, the fluids help massively. Make sure they have looked at the b vitamins for you as a booster really help some women. Do your arms feel weak and you almost feel the nausea there too? Again, thinking of you.

pebble82 · 10/02/2014 09:23

Sorry to hear you're suffering Mrsb.

Anyone else had painful cramps? I did for about 5 mins at 3am this morning. I'm sure it's totally normal but these first weeks are horrible for worrying aren't they.

akachan · 10/02/2014 09:30

I've been having some cramps - quite mild but persistent. I'm terrified it means bad news. Stressful business isn't it?

How did you all work your due dates out by the way? I went by date of last period but I actually ovulated quite early (day 12) so not sure if I should adjust. I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Bumpforme2014 · 10/02/2014 10:22

No cramps for me yet but I think cramps are perfectly normal at this point as the uterus grows.

Akachan I used websites to work it out, I prefer to estimate based on date of ovulation since I know that date. GP does it by weeks since last period until your 12 week scan then they move you if it doesn't match.

Because ovulation does vary from woman to woman it's not accurate to go by last period, my last period was 7 weeks ago but I am only 6 weeks as cycles are long and ovulation was late.

cottonwool4brains · 10/02/2014 10:38

I am getting cramps too pebble, I guess they are normal but I'm still finding them anxiety inducing!

Loopylu84 · 10/02/2014 10:50

mrsb really sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time, everything I've heard suggests that sickness is a good sign so hopefully you're able to take some comfort in that, can imagine it's pretty shit though

I've been getting cramps too, they seem to be more uncomfortable at night but certaintly not painful, def better during the day-feels like a kind of dull aching sort of like pulling from inside if that makes sense? Feels much more dominant on the right side-dunno what that's all about!
I think as long as the cramps arent severe and there's no bleeding then it's nothing to worry about

Breasts still sore but not quite as bad today
In a way I really really wish I had found out later because it is a worrying time and I've had a number of friends who have had miscarriages-the 12 week mark just seems like a lifetime away!

akachan · 10/02/2014 10:51

Ah, thanks Bump. In that case I am three days further along. I've made a GP appointment for next week.

purplemurple1 · 10/02/2014 12:05

Hi everyone,

I got a BFP this morning which says I'm 1-2 weeks so I'm due on the 20th Oct. It was our first month trying for DC2. I'm a bit nervous about telling my OH as he thourght we shuold wait in case it happened quickly, but I was of course CERTAIN it wouldn't Smile - DC1 is 5 months.
Here begins the coutdown to the 12 week scan.

So do any of the 'not drinking' excuses work? I've a small family party at the weekend, (7 adults, 2 kids) we are all staying over together for the night so I can't claim I'm driving home, and I drank with them over christmas so they know I'm not breast feeding and am happy to drink a few glasses while watching the baby. Last time I just avoided people but I can't get out of this trip. TIA

pebble82 · 10/02/2014 12:36

Driving is a good excuse for me not drinking. I did dry Jan so just saying I just got used to it and it suits me better being able to get to and from places easier.

I have dull cramps in the day but the ones at 3am were quite strong. Like bad period pain really. Manageable but painful enough to wake me up. Crotch watch today is getting silly. Been to the loo 6 times today just to double check. I'm developing OCD!

Cakebaker35 · 10/02/2014 13:42

Cramps and loads of bloating here too - I think it's wind Blush ah the side effects eh, so glamourous! Booked in at GP's today, told her I was worried about lack of side effects but she was great and reminded me everyone is different and I was the same with dd1 so in the nicest possible way calm down mad woman! Grin

akachan · 10/02/2014 13:56

I've got a little bit of spotting. Now I'm sitting at my desk in tears, I don't think I can handle this.

Loopylu84 · 10/02/2014 14:15

Akachan how far along are you? If you're London based I know theres a few NHS Early Pregnancy Units around that accept self referral walk ins if you're having pain/ bleeding?
Spotting can be very normal though, one of my friends had quite a heavy bleed at 6weeks and ended up in a&e-she's now 13 weeks along and doing fine :)
Is there anyone at work you could trust to tell?

akachan · 10/02/2014 14:19

I'm extremely early - about 4 and a bit weeks. I'll just have to wait I suppose. I'm sorry to be so pathetic it's just that I haven't told anyone in real life and just wanted to talk about it.

I might be able to tell someone here. I think I'm going to have to - I can't stop crying.

zahazie · 10/02/2014 14:21

oh, akachan, I know how distressing this can be.
I had spotting last week (brown discharge very light), and finally on Saturday I went to the hospital, where I was checked out and reassured that everything was fine.
Spotting can be very common in the first trimester. Is it light spotting, brown or red?
Can you see your GP, or an early pregnancy unit?

akachan · 10/02/2014 14:25

It's light and a mixture of brown and red. I suppose I need to see if it continues then perhaps try to see a doctor tomorrow. I'm trying to calm down, this is completely ridiculous!
