All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

Hi italian!

I sympathise on the language front. It makes medical appointments interesting at times, although in NL I suspect everyone speaks good English too?

I just can't work out what is head, bottom or back of my baby. However today there is definitely a limb of some sort that's decided it's home will be just above my belly button. I keep poking it and marvelling that I can feel them and they move.

Do you think it's possible to overpoke? Hahahahaha. My baby must be getting fed up of me.

Woke up at 4am today convinced there was an intruder. Listened for ages then woke DH. Turns out the funny noise stopped as soon as he stopped sleeping Confused. I was then awake til 7, alarm went off 7.30 zzzzzzz.

PixieBumbles · 12/02/2014 16:51

loopylou I very seriously considered the Jane Muum Matrix, but we got a Mamas & Papas Sola in the end purely because a very good friend has one and loves it so we had a first hand personal recommendation. We got the pushchair and car seat in the Mamas & Papas sale and my friend is giving us her carrycot and car seat adaptors, so the Sola worked out to be a much cheaper option for us!

I think if it hadn't been for my friend singing the praises of the Sola and offering to pass the accompanying bits and pieces on to us I'd probably have ended up with the Jane Muum Matrix.

Squiffie · 12/02/2014 16:59

I've got the Jane muum with matrix car seat - I love it already and baby is not even here!

Bornin1984 · 12/02/2014 17:01

Ohhhhh man the stingy boobies have returned!!!!

Must...... Find...... Lansinoh!!!Hmm

loopylou52 · 12/02/2014 18:15

Aw thanks for your reassurances ladies - I feel much better now! Smile I emailed the UK suppliers to find out when the 2014 range would be available over here as I've seen them online and they have some new funky colours. They said they'll be out April/May. Guess that would be cutting it just a bit too fine!

ClearlyMoo · 12/02/2014 18:50

Grumpy post from me. Exhausting commute in to work. Annoying day of loos being out of order on our side of building. Got iron tablet prescription. It's 69mg iron PER tablet and recommend 3 x / day which = 10+ rda. Pharmacist says necessary to prevent my anaemia getting worse. That take with OJ and keep an eye for constipation... I've already reopened prune juice just in case...

I am SO tired I could just cry for hours. DH is being very understanding and I'm on sofa with feet up (did I mention they are now swelling) while he cooks tea. Tomorrow I'm supposed to be going to office then Aquanatal but I'm so tired. Had a stern email from work (to whole team) yesterday saying working from home only in special circumstances and 2 days notice required. I already agreed WFH twice a week, but I will feel cheeky if I WFH tomorrow because I'm tired/pregnant!

Sorry for grumble. I know it's all minor really and I'm so thankful for this baby and my home/job/DH I shouldn't grumble at all. Selfish and tired with puffy ankles = me!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 12/02/2014 19:26

We're in real trouble with the weather here... loads of trees down and the stadium roof at my uni has come down onto the road... oops Shock

Nearly fainted again in ASDA today... took crutches with me to lean on but no good, I got to the seats just in time. Wish I understood what was causing it.

Bornin1984 · 12/02/2014 19:43

Are you anaemic moomin?

dobedobedo · 12/02/2014 19:58

Moomin I get close to fainting a lot. My iron is a little low but not too bad but I think it's mainly caused by a sudden drop in BP, which can happen in pregnancy but you should mention it to your midwife and also take it easy.

Hope everyone is safe from these storms. Some crazy weather we are having!

Hezbean · 12/02/2014 20:18

I can't really tell on baby positioning but most of the daytime I assume it is breech as I just get kicks really low down.

When I wake up in the morning though, there is nearly always a hard round lump on the middle of my tummy much further up, almost like a ball (dh calls it the hedgehog position cos it feels like it's all curled up in a ball) and then it starts wriggling and squirming all over the place and I can feel it changing position. By the time I've got to work it's down the bottom again. Gravity I suppose!!!

I hear you on the tiredness girls! I'm on my way home from the office now but I still have a gig to go to tonight for work! Been a long day.

Yes hope everyone is ok in this horrible weather.

sambababy · 12/02/2014 21:16

Can I also have a grumble?

Just been for a tour of the local hospital maternity unit. I was the only woman there not wanting a ELCS. The other options as they explained are "normal birth" which is out the vag but still in the surgery with epidural and episiotomy (on average). The surgery room frightened the life out of me! The other option is "natural birth", oh but there's only 2 doctors that can do that.

The only questions the other ladies asked were about how they could make sure they would get one of the bigger rooms. Shock Strange how I felt like I was the weird one!

sambababy · 12/02/2014 21:18

moomin I also have low BP and felt a bit faint sometimes but it has improved since I started iron tablets. Def speak to your midwife. The last thing you want it a bad fall.

NannyPlumForPM · 12/02/2014 21:22

Is that in Brazil samba ? Sounds very different from uk!! What is their position on breast feeding etc?

Welcome welcome Italian! We're you here at the beginning of the group? Your name is super familiar! Nice to have you back if so Grin

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 12/02/2014 21:24

Was constantly borderline before getting pregnant but has actually been fine since. Had bloods last week and not heard back yet so I assume everything's fine with iron count, and my blood pressure is fairly stable... been feeling really run down and ill the past few days so I'm guessing everything, itching and dizziness and feeling faint etc, all to do with that.

ItalianWiking84 · 12/02/2014 22:10

sambababy yeah in general their English is fine, but I am not English, so it still translated in my head to my mother language, but luckily my DPs mother language is Dutch....

Hi NannyPlumForPM yes I was here in the beginning, but you guys were to fast for me, :)

I am now on the Witch review site, buuuuuuuut think that has only made me more confused. I am so scared of getting this pram buy wrong.. Because its such a big buy and should last some years and because my parents are buying for us, so really want to make a good choice, arg. Any good recommendations for a city style, light weight pram, that can be used with stroller and auto chair?

Minions · 12/02/2014 22:21

Welcome Italian, we felt completely overwhelmed when first buying our stuff. We're going for Uppababy Vista but I'm won't be flying etc regularly. I read the which reviews and also the review site on mumsnet. The best thing to do is go to somewhere like John Lewis and try them out. The staff there are very knowledgable and there's nothing better than actually having a go. We tried one which was super easy to collapse, I think it was this one www.babyjogger.co.uk/citygt.php. Good luck :)

bushprincess · 13/02/2014 07:12

samba sorry to hear about your hospital tour, i completely sympathise! Were you happy with the general standards though? Do u have a private obgyn there who will deliver for you? I hope you can do as then you can talk through your wishes with him/her and hopefully avoid being pushed into a c-section against your will. Having a Dr who I've seen throughout and knows my wishes is pretty much the only thing that is potentially keeping me in zim to have the baby....

Talking of which, my Dr is going to look round the other clinic we found in harare and will report back on weds. If he's not happy with the facilities on offer then we're back to the drawing board, currently trying to decide between sa and UK.... i don't want to leave for so long but the whole thing is stressing me out!
Anyway, sorry samba moaning about my own problems again. I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't like it. I really hope you can find one of the Dr's willing to try a natural delivery. How did you find the midwives ?

For what it's worth the doula I've been seeing for yoga suggested that if i did stay here and end up in the v clinical environment on offer that i should at least take in own bed linen, music, some cushions etc.... they may not be happy but it might help disguise the surgical environment! Good luck!,

impatientlywaiting · 13/02/2014 10:59

Just been for my 28 week midwife appointment, at 29+1. Measuring slightly small for dates, which is hilarious as I've almost hit a 3 stone in pregnancy weight gain so far!

Was feeling totally rubbish about myself these past few weeks, with no clothes that fit well and not really making an effort. So treated myself to a cut and colour and some new maternity clothes and I'm feeling much better now.

Off to London tonight for what will be my last weekend away before the baby comes. Might need the odd night away with work, but apart from that I'm going to go into nesting mode and get the nursery and a few things in the house finished as I guessed will have loads more visitors than we're used to once the baby arrives.

NannyPlumForPM · 13/02/2014 11:29

I am so so envious of all of you with nurseries :( dd's current room is part bedroom part storage/ clothes drying room so I would LOVE to put them both in a beautiful girly room together! Hopefully. We'll be moving before baby turns 1 because we have the tiniest 2 bed house with no garden and barely any kitchen known to man and pay £630 a month for the privilege :( but the area is fantastic!

ItalianWiking84 · 13/02/2014 11:32

Minions Thanks, my issue is prob that I dont like most models and I am so used to the ones we have at home in DK, so that I am really struggling liking the ones I can get in NL. And I am sure they are fine, the ones in NL, but difficult for me, to actually find one and believe it would be good enough. I like Stokke and Joolz, but on Witch it gets so bad reviews, so that makes me scared off.... ARG. Rant

dobedobedo · 13/02/2014 11:35

Oh I seem to have hit the swollen walrus stage of pregnancy. Just had to take off my rings Sad

nanny the baby's room is spareroom/clothes drying room at the minute. DH is itching to get it sorted for the baby. Despite the fact the baby probably won't be in it until he's 1 - if he doesn't end up sharing with ds!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 13/02/2014 11:37

When does nesting usually begin because I have the weirdest urge (it is weird for me!) to clean everything and pack it all up into boxes Grin I just want everything to be tidy and ordered and then I want to move it into this new flat that we don't even have yet.

sambababy · 13/02/2014 12:55

nannyplum yep it's brazil. They seem pro breast feeding which is good, but exactly how people react to mothers feeing in public places I don't know. I've personally never seen it here but maybe they are just discrete.

bushprincess yes I really like my OB who I've been seeing for a few months, and she is doing everything she can to understand what I want and work around it, but the hospitals have their own rules too. I like your idea about bringing in things for the room. Good luck with your own search! It's not a good thing to be stressing about it is!

I also feel like nesting. We have ordered a cot and chest of drawers but I'm trying to hold of washing clothes until later.

italian I've also heard of the baby jogger brand. they're supposed to be excellent and lightweight and I think some can be used from birth. I'm not sure what an auto chair is though. I got the uppababy vista but we have bad terrain here.

dobedobedo · 13/02/2014 13:02

I'm nesting too. I keep having the urge to clean stupid things like the cutlery drawer and the skirting boards. Unfortunately though I'm too sore to do any of it.
So I spent the last weekend sitting on the bouncy ball and sorting out the crap drawers/cupboards/paperwork in the house! lol.
It's like an itch that has to be scratched. I think this week I'll sit on the bed and sort through all the clothes I have and charity shop/ebay/chuck loads.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 13/02/2014 13:36

Does anyone have any advice re: requesting induction or c-section? The strain this is putting on my body now with these headaches and adhesions and my scar is getting too much already, and I'm only 29 weeks. I want to ask my consultant if I can be induced at 37/38 weeks (or c-section if they don't like doing inductions by request). So far I haven't even seen my real consultant though, just registrars who seem pretty clueless Sad
