All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

I leave my notes in the car too! Mine are an awful mess all ripped and stuff! Rather trampy looking!!!

Breakfast should be crisp and mars !!!

I had cornflakes! Boring hahaha

Anyway hello third trimester! 28+0

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 12/02/2014 09:14

I'm not entirely sure where my notes are... I tend to lose them between one appointment and the next Hmm

Housemate at it again. I put a status up last night whinging about the internet, because she Skyped her mum for two hours again - after spending all weekend with her family, not that I'm bitter or jealous Hmm Envy - so it was really slow. She commented and said "Well I think we should just be grateful we have internet, some people don't even have the internet".

This is the motivation I need to submit the flat application today Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 12/02/2014 09:27

I really hope your Application goes well moomin I know paying the extortionate fee is rubbish but as long as you've checked that you meet the criteria then there's not a lot they or you can do!! I'm off to the docs with dd - again- because she has had a bad tummy for a week- she's up four or five times each night. Oh thinks she's getting us ready for the new baby!!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 12/02/2014 09:58

Thanks Nanny... we think we meet the criteria but we're not sure, that's the issue. It says 'no students'... well, we're both studying, but OH is also working part time and I'll be looking after a baby, and we need it as a family home rather than student digs. Just hope they understand that. OH thinks they will, I'm not sure at all Sad

Bornin1984 · 12/02/2014 11:21

Omg
I'm constantly hungry these days!

ItalianWiking84 · 12/02/2014 11:31

Hi girls,
would it be possible for a long time watcher to join in? I am currently 25 weeks pregnant and due date is 23.05.2014
I am moving to NL this Sunday with my partner, so getting a bit worried about a whole new system, new midwifes and new language.
Its our first baby and I am getting so confused all the time regarding stuff to buy for the baby, because I read so many different reviews, so dont know what to believe anymore.

AliOh · 12/02/2014 11:45

Thanks ladies, you have all made me feel much better that I am not being paranoid and thinking about packing hospital bags way too early. I am too measuring in paydays so over the next couple of weeks I will be compiling (hopefully) not to long lists of things i need to buy ready to pack my hospital bags in the next few weeks.

DP thinks I am being ridiculous considering since the only things we have bought for baby so far is a few baby grows and curtains for the nursery Blush we do have a pram courtesy of my mum though and my mother in law is coming over with a car load including a cot, moses basket, bouncer, monitors, steriliser, playpen and goodness knows what else! So we wont have to buy much thankfully as we don't have any money

27+5 eeek!

impatientlywaiting · 12/02/2014 11:49

Welcome Italian. Glad you've joined us.

dobedobedo · 12/02/2014 11:54

Hi Italian and welcome!

There's a huge array of stuff we can buy for our babies out there, some of it is purely to get money out of first time parents, some is useful or nice to have. It's a minefield with knowing what to get. Good luck!

This is my second, so the equipment I'm not getting which is marketed to parents is:

Changing table
nappy bin
baby bouncer/chair
bottles/steriliser (planning to bf)
Toys or teddy bears

I'm not getting the above because it's not really needed tbh. And everyone else will buy the baby toys and soft toys as gifts.

Stuff I've got or will get is:

Baby bath
Pram/pushchair
car seat and car seat base
cot
moses basket
sling
set of drawers for the baby's room (not baby specific furniture)
towels
clothes
muslins

Um... I'm probably forgetting something.

dobedobedo · 12/02/2014 12:04

Baby positions. What position is your baby in?

About a month or so ago, for about a week he was transverse and since then he's been breech the whole time. So head stuck in my ribs, lots of kicks right on my cervix (electric shock vag!). I've done the all fours thing and arse in the air thing to try and get him to turn the right way around - not because I'm worried he won't turn eventually, but because it's so bloody uncomfortable! My placenta is right at the top of my uterus so maybe he just likes hiding his face in it!

Anyone else with an annoying baby?

Flixy102 · 12/02/2014 12:09

I'm the same dob, midwife had said baby was transverse a few weeks ago and at my 28 week scan yesterday he was breech! Which wasn't actually a surprise as I could feel spine and ribs at the front of my bump and have lots of low down kicks and nice ones in the cervix which make me wince!

I'm doing pregnancy yoga at the mo so will ask the teacher for any baby turning tips!

ItalianWiking84 · 12/02/2014 12:18

dobedobedo thanks for the list :) I am mostly concerned about the pram, because I keep reading different reviews about different brands, have been looking at a Stokke Crusi, anybody have any opinion about the Stokke brand and the Crusi model?
Its so difficult because some of the known brands, that I know (I am raised in DK) you cant get in the NL, so I now have to look for other brands and arg.... I know I want a city model, a light one and easy to fit in a car boot and pack together to fly with.

Cant the baby lay in a cot or do they need a moses basket for the first months?

I have made a long list, and I have already found some stuff from IKEA I like
My list is pram, 3in1 with auto chair and iso fix
cot, linned for cot, and cover
sling
bath tub
Zinck creme, termo meter, baby scissor, coam,
Baby alarm
High chair
bouncer
musical "thing" for the cot

I had a 3D scan Sunday and little baby is laying on her side with her head just under my ribs. She is one active little one (scan lady said she was a bit under average, so we should keep an eye on growth)

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 12/02/2014 12:20

Seems to be changing every week. Head down at 25 weeks, breech at 26. Back to head down at 27, then back to breech at 28 and now transverse.

Breech is my least favourite - electric shock kicks in the vag and head stuck in the ribs. Much prefer baby to be transverse (although I know head-down is the best towards the end, rib kicks aren't fun either!)

OH and I were placing bets on where we thought it'd end up staying and we both said 'breech' at the exact same time, it's where it seems comfiest... so I'm not thrilled Grin

dobedobedo · 12/02/2014 12:26

If you go on the Which website Italian you can get a trial for £1 for a month. Then you can view all the tough reviews and tests done on various baby equipment. This is what I did when buying the big ticket baby items.

If you're looking city type prams, I hear the bugaboo bee is good, or the uppababy cruz - they're the highest rated prams too, for safety and ease of use and quality etc. The mamas and papas sola is also scored as one of the best (it's what I got) but has slightly bigger wheels for other terrains. I don't know much about Stokke unfortunately!

The reason I got a moses basket was so I could put the baby to sleep in it downstairs when I was downstairs. I live in a three storey house and running up and down flights of stairs when baby stirs didn't appeal to me!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 12/02/2014 12:29

I'm itchy all over, have been for the last couple of days. I have midwife next Thursday, will I be ok to leave it till then or should I ask to see midwife/doctor before then?

Bornin1984 · 12/02/2014 12:43

Itching can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis or just a new
Skin reaction as things change! I would ring the midwife for advice

Bornin1984 · 12/02/2014 12:45

Aren't breech babies more likely to be delivered by c section of Ecv is unsuccessful?

Xavielli · 12/02/2014 13:14

Things I think are completely unecessary to buy;

-Moses basket
-top n tail bowl
-baby bath
-hooded towels
-changing table (frankly I think they're dangerous)
-nappy bin (unless you are using reusables, them it's essential).
-any gimiki temp thing like grow egg/bath thermometer/baby grooming set.

Things I couldn't do without;

-bouncy chair (completely essential if you ever want to bath or shower again when home alone or if you have under 5s already)
-non slip bath mat (just a pound shop one will do)
-buggy
-cot & 2x sheets
-2x cellular blankets
-8x sleepsuits & vests

  • 2x outfits for meeting grandparents
  • socks (if your outfits don't have them)
  • car seat
  • 1x outdoor blanket/shawl
  • 1x hat

For me;

  • feeding pillow
  • Lansinoh
  • thermos mug
  • Johnson's breast pads (only ones I didn't soak through in minutes)
Xavielli · 12/02/2014 13:20

Moomin - if you have itching on the soles of your feet or palms of your hands you need to call a mw ASAP. If not just mention it at your next appointment, they might want to do LFTs. I really hope for your sake it's not OC. This is my second pregnancy with it and it's completely bloody miserable.

loopylou52 · 12/02/2014 13:28

Thanks for all the tips on stuff to buy ladies. I'm having a big wobble about prams at the moment. We've known what we want to get for ages (Jane Muum Matrix system) but I can't get passed the feeling that, if they're as good as they seem to be, why aren't they more popular/widely available? I also keep thinking other brands like Bugaboo and iCandy look nicer and have better colour options - I know it would be stupid to choose one based on looks alone though!

moomin - I agree it might be worth a call to the midwife if the itching is everywhere.

Welcome Italian!

I'm so impressed you guys can all tell what position baby is in. I keep thinking breach or transverse (kicking is mainly low down or at sides). Haven't had anything under the ribs yet but my placenta is at the top and I thought maybe this was providing cushioning. At my mw appointment yesterday I asked if she could tell its position and she dismissed it as far too early (I'm nearly 28 weeks)! I know it's early to worry about it but I was just interested.

dobedobedo · 12/02/2014 13:34

loopy you can google ways to figure out how your baby is lying. That's what I did initially and then the scan last week confirmed it

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumEEEEK · 12/02/2014 13:42

Thanks for advice. It's only just started on palms of hands, this morning and yesterday it was everyhwere but there. Soles of feet seem ok at the minute so hopefully I'm fine :) skin on the backs of my hands and my neck is going bright red the amount I'm scratching though Sad I hope this is a temporary thing.

PotatoPolly · 12/02/2014 13:55

MW said BabySpud was transverse at 25 weeks so i'll find out at my appt next week how he's laying, just wiggling all the time!
Feeling heavy today think the baby must have been moving all night as I'm really achey and feel like a whale.
I'm super paranoid so have been carrying my notes since my 9 week appt everywhere!

AppleCrumble1 · 12/02/2014 14:19

Hi All, anyone know anything about the Mamas and Papas Urbo2 the new one that they've just brought out with the "20" improvements to solve all the issues with wheels sticking etc? I've ordered one but having a wobble as not been tested by Which yet!

On the train back to London from working the South coast & it's pretty stormy! x

moobaloo · 12/02/2014 15:23

Loopylou - I adore my Jane Slalom Pro Matrix travel system, although obviously I haven't used it yet as this will be my first! However I love pushing it around (walked it home when we collected it, 2 miles) and it's light and easy to handle and fold and take apart etc. the matrix is a bit bulky but not difficult, although I haven't worked out how to strap it into the car yet! I don't know why they're so unknown, but it is a Spanish make and they haven't been available here that long. My friend who used to live in Spain said they're everywhere out there and very popular. I took advantage of the fact they're unknown, and therefore cheap secondhand, and mine would have been £700 new but got it for £150 Grin

I don't know what position my baby is in ever! Could the anterior placenta stop me feeling this? The foot in the ribs situation has rectified now, so don't know where he's gone!
