All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

I've started on mine. Nowhere near finished mind, but I don't want to take any risks!

kally I've been told mine's small by people. Not been paying any attention to them, the only person I'm concerned about is midwife who says I'm spot on for dates - that's the important thing! We should be given special dispensation to punch anyone who does comment on bump size though.

29+1

dobedobedo · 11/02/2014 18:46

Alyss I'm so happy you're out of hospital and Gabriel is doing well. You've really been through it Thanks

Ali I'm sorting out the hospital bags next pay day. I'm measuring all this pregnancy and baby stuff in paydays! February pay day is hospital bag, cot mattress and bedding, car seat base and gas bill Confused

Xavielli · 11/02/2014 18:55

I've started adding bits to the baby's bag today and gathering my travel toiletries up to see what else I'll need :) I love packing and re packing the hospital bag, I do it atleast once a week closer to my due date.

I've also dug the kids bags out of the cupboard as they'll need an overnight bag packed each too.... It'll look like we're moving house the morning of my induction Grin

kally195 · 11/02/2014 18:57

moomin Thanks - one of the lovely girls at work has just told me to ignore all the bump comments and (like you said) only listen to the midwife. Totally agree with special dispensation to punch people!

So very relieved - just got confirmation of maternity leave/pay entitlement from work. For once, govt HR got something right!

I work in France - does anyone think it is sensible for me to start taking a mini hospital bag with me when I get closer to term?

moobaloo · 11/02/2014 19:06

Definitely take hospital bag to France! Babies aren't picky where they're born apparently!

I will be packing mine at 30 weeks I should think, I like to be ready early! And I shall be one of those people who unpack and repack on a weekly basis I expect! Grin

26+1 today! I am going to start washing and folding babies clothes next week even though he doesn't have a bedroom yet! Excited!

kally195 · 11/02/2014 19:21

moobaloo - I might start getting mine ready a bit sooner then. The packing/unpacking does sound like fun!

Quite jealous of you having clothes to wash etc. I need to buy a chest of drawers to do up before I can really buy anything. I have seen some lovely stuff we will be getting - H&M in particular have gorgeous tiny people clothes.

Now to work out where to buy enormous pants....

NannyPlumForPM · 11/02/2014 19:23

See dh is gettin the car seat and Moses basket back from the bloke we leant it to.... Mid march!!! Am I wrong to think this is a tad late?! I never did a hospital bag last time as I sort of never left hospital, but I was living at my parents then so my mum was well equipped to chuck stuff together. I want to be a bit better organised this time- I'm going to have a grab bag packed about 30 weeks for impromptu hospital visits and a bigger 'labour and after bag'/hold all Blush for the main event.

I'm hoping the grab bag can get me through any initial hospital stay (travel deo/ wash/ shampoo, babygro, vest and hat- just in case, change of underwear and large nightie/nightshirt, hair bobble[s] a couple of bottles of water and cereal bars/ crisps) phone charger will be a last min chuck in as it's used most days!

NannyPlumForPM · 11/02/2014 19:24

Probably will chuck a couple of mat pads for emergencies too!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 11/02/2014 19:41

It's snowing and OH is out delivering and I'm worried about him driving in this, and I've just had two conflicting thoughts at the same time.

First thought was 'Why are people so inconsiderate, ordering pizzas in this weather, making the delivery drivers risk their lives because they're lazy!'.

The second was 'Mm maybe I should order a Chinese'.

I can't decide which thought is more unreasonable Grin bloody hormones!!!

Bornin1984 · 11/02/2014 19:53

I've just had jacket potatoe. Salad steak and pepper sauce!

I'm a fat twat I could eat it again

bushprincess · 11/02/2014 19:57

order a pizza moomin then OH has a legitimate excuse to pop home and give you a kiss!

Alioh well it may be early but I packed mine last night!! after Gabriels early arrival (even though we're obviously in different situations) it just made me feel it was time to have something ready on standby!

Wouldn't be enough for more than a brief stay in hospital but it's not as if I'm going to be using maternity pads etc before then so they might as well be in the bag!! Even brought nuts and dried fruit today to put in there!!! (27 + 2)...now watch me go so late that bag will have been standing fully packed for almost 4 months!!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 11/02/2014 20:08

Haha bless him he'd never forgive me if I ordered a pizza and he had to deliver it Grin plus he's sick of pizza.... I could ask him to bring back a KFC seeing as we've got bugger all in the freezer.... Hmm

NannyPlumForPM · 11/02/2014 20:11

I put in a vote for nando's \o/ \o/ dp is watching football in town so bringing one back for us Grin am just deciding how many wings really is too many.....? :)

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 11/02/2014 20:18

People I know from uni work at Nandos and I am not in any fit state to be seen by any human other than OH Grin even the hamster is hiding from me tonight!

Then again, all of the student midwives I've seen so far are good friends with my third year friends on my course and go drinking with them all the time... I may request to not have any students present for the delivery of the baby considering I have to see them on campus Grin

Bornin1984 · 11/02/2014 20:46

I'm having my baby on the ward where I work

NannyPlumForPM · 11/02/2014 21:13

I would feel a bit awkward if I knew them.. I like knowing people for the aftercare etc but there's something about having a stranger dealing with the business end that I prefer!

In other news, I have chosen 15 wings. The man said- sooooo a five and a ten... And I went YUP and a large garlic bread. And then I added - but it is for two of us Blush

Xavielli · 11/02/2014 21:33

After 4 births and breastfeeding I've got no modesty left when it comes down to it, the world and his dog could be in the room and I'm not sure I'd care. Grin

MrsFooCough · 11/02/2014 22:07

Ooh hospital bag?! Christ I'm not even sure we've decided which bedroom to put the Moses basket in Confused DH and I have separate beds, he snores LIKE A RHINO WITH A COLD ON A TRAIN, he's 6ft and I'm huge now so there's no way we could share now anyway! But yeah, we have a few bits my MiL knitted and a hat. That's it. Oh and some newborn size nappies. I AM SO UNDERPREPARED. But whoever said they're measuring pg in pay days, WE ARE TOO so don't feel alone. This coming payday is probably deposit on car seat&base? And also second-hand Bugaboo Cameleon. And maybe a giant nightie. And some maternity pads. And breast pads. Maybe. I DON'T KNOW Shock

I flung hospital bag contents together pre babymoon - now I am waivering about taking mat notes on my 50mile drive to work 3 days week. AIBU?? Probably OTT! Two girls in my NCT Class have been in hospital this week. One will be induced at 37 weeks, the other may have a c-section soon. Makes it feel v real!

As for iron. We had chilli con carne and brown rice and curly kale for dinner! We have lots of beef at home so I just need to eat more of our own farm produce! Doesn't sound right the beef farmers wife being anaemic. I drink a lot of tea which can prevent absorption. So I need to have more vit C! DH has been googling iron content in everything we are eating! Bless him!! I'm feeling loved!

impatientlywaiting · 11/02/2014 23:09

So glad to hear you are out of hospital Alyss. Hope that Gabriel is doing well and that you are getting to spend lots of time with him.

Had my whopping cough vaccination today. Not sure if my midwife had brought it up early in my pregnancy but I had heard about it so I asked her about it at my last appointment. She was really in favour of me having it, but it was the practise nurse, rather than my midwife who was able to give it.

No pain at all getting the injection, but my arm is a bit achey now.

PixieBumbles · 11/02/2014 23:10

I've just used the last of the Debenhams gift card we were given for our wedding three years ago to treat myself to a new overnight bag seeing as my old one is falling apart. I figured with a hospital trip coming up it was about time I finally got around to getting a new one! I've started thinking about what I'm going to need for hospital but haven't actually packed anything yet. I'll probably start when the new bag arrives.

I've just been spending some naughty money on new clothes for me. I hit the outlet section of the Jojo Maman Bebe website and bought a few dresses each costing £15 or less (ok, maybe one sneaky full price dress as well). They're wrap styles and two of them are also nursing dresses so hopefully they should see me through until well after the birth. I was getting fed up with wearing the same small selection of tunics and leggings day in day out!

Had my GTT and whooping cough vaccine this morning. It took the phlebotomist two tries to get a vein for the second blood sample (the veins in my right arm are useless!) so I'm feeling like a pin cushion right now!

Alyss I've been thinking of you and Gabriel. I'm glad to hear he's doing well and you're out of hospital

PixieBumbles · 11/02/2014 23:12

Clearly I take my maternity notes in my bag to work every day. Maybe OTT and paranoid but I'm just worried that the one time I don't have my notes will be when something happens and I need them!

Xavielli · 12/02/2014 07:23

You should take notes with you if you're going away from home further than a few mins. If anything is dodgy in bloods/wee that they've sent off they phone and want you to go straight in so it's easier if you don't have to Faff about going home first. (It's happened 3 times in the last 2 weeks to me)

ClearlyMoo · 12/02/2014 07:46

Clearly I'm not paranoid enough.... Forgot notes today!

dobedobedo · 12/02/2014 08:33

I keep my notes in the car as otherwise I'd lose them in the Narnia that is my handbags!

Breakfast fail today. Didn't have a chance to grab anything on the way out the door. Now I'm stuck in work on my own with only the corner shop next door.

So do I have a jar of pickled carp or a mars bar for breakfast? hmm. Confused
