All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

Why thistle?

Can't remember who said it now but I have also had to take off my wedding & lovely engagement ring as my fingers have swelled up so much :( Also bought a cheapie ring to wear on that finger instead.

Bush, that sounds horrible. Are you planning to fly back here for the birth?

Sorry for people having a hard time Thanks

Re GTT, I've got mine next week but when I booked it they didn't mention anything about fasting. Did you ladies all get told??

My work is really stressing me out at the moment, my head of department is actually being pretty annoying & acts like he can't wait to take over everything I've been doing when I go on maternity leave. Trying not to let it get to me but it's hard when I'm more emotional with all the pregnancy hormones anyway.

LongTailedTit · 06/02/2014 22:51

dobe snap! I had a physio appt for PGP too, and am another hypermobile one! The physio said that one good thing about being hypermobile is that while we may get out of alignment easily, we can also correct it more easily too. Silver linings and all that...

She gave me some good exercises, but the tips that can apply to anyone are:
When sitting, make sure your hips are higher/same height as your knees - I need to put a cushion in the car, and one on the sofa too. Basically don't sit in bucket seats where your knees are higher than your hips.
If PGP is hurting while you're walking, try tucking your tailbone under as you walk.
HTH! :)

LongTailedTit · 06/02/2014 22:58

mrsmummy Yep, when I booked it they told me to fast for 12 hours before the appt, mine's 08:30, so nowt but water after 8:30pm the previous night.

Unsurprisingly, my midwife still hasn't got back to me about my GTT, I think I left her that voicemail a week ago now... Hmm Have left another one for her today, not going to hold my breath.

ClearlyMoo · 06/02/2014 23:04

:-( babymoon fail. I feel AWFUL, sudden onset of the squits. Baby kicking away like crazy... Had to abandon DH and a board game in the bar to trot back to room. He can't think it's anything I've eaten as I've been super sensible with food choices. Thankfully not thrown up, but had a moment when I thought I might! Eeek!

ClearlyMoo · 06/02/2014 23:05

PS sorry if TMI and Moomin sorry your housemate is such a drama queen!

randdom · 06/02/2014 23:12

Clearlymoo sorry you aren't feeling well.

I have got a four day weekend which should be nice and very very much needed! unfortunately I also have to drive up to Yorkshire which is going to take hours!

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 07/02/2014 08:34

Day off today planned on trying to catch up on sleep and what Happens.... Next door are having their roof done!!!

What the fick have I done inmy past
Life to get this crap flung at me !!!!

Xavielli · 07/02/2014 08:50

Argh, at hospital for my GTT, so hungry. I rarely eat before midday anyway so thought I'd be ok, it's mad the difference a few cups of tea make

Isean · 07/02/2014 09:10

Hope it goes ok Xav, that you'll feel fine afterwards & the results are fine.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 07/02/2014 09:11

Good luck for the GTT Xavi :)

It's a pregnancy rule that we are allowed one day a week to just sit in bed and eat Magic Stars, isn't it? Hmm I've got a cold and I'm feeling a bit low, things aren't great with OH's sister and I think I need tea and chocolate. I'm going to have a cheat day I think Grin

randdom · 07/02/2014 09:39

Perfectly acceptable to lie in bed and eat chocolate!

24 weeks today! I don't know why in particular but it feels significant!

dobedobedo · 07/02/2014 10:03

Thank fuck it's Friday!

I cannot wait to get home this evening, put my feet up and have dh run around after me. He says this is how it will be from now on - I won't complain and I'll try not to feel too guilty!

27 weeks today! It feels like baby is starting to get a bit cramped in there already. Tomorrow we have a 4d scan, which I can't wait for! 3rd trimester at the end of the weeks! Shock

Vikks · 07/02/2014 10:07

Xavielli Hope it goes ok. Got mine 2 weeks today and I’m not looking forward to it, I feel so sick if I don’t eat as soon as I get up.

Thistle Hope you manager to get some rest, that is pretty bad luck. x

Clearlymoo Hope you’re feeling better today and can enjoy yourself.

MrsMummy Mine is at 9am and I was also told only water from 9pm day before.

I was at the docs yesterday and my BP seems to be under control now, thank goodness. On the flip side, back to work the week after next, BOOO! I will only have 5 weeks to work due to holiday + annual leave + start of MAT leave. I’m looking forward to quality time with my beautiful DS before Olivia arrives and rocks our world. Grin

Is anyone doing hypnobirthing? I've signed up to five week course starting beginning of April (£130). I did the NCT last time and although I enjoyed it, felt it was for first time mums plus I think I have knowledge they teach. I wanted to do something to help with the anxiety I have about the birth. I don’t feel I coped very well last time, I panicked and felt so out of control (induction followed by very close contractions for 23 hours). I hope hypnobirthing is the right choice for me.

26 weeks today!

impatientlywaiting · 07/02/2014 10:18

Vikks I'm doing hypnobirthing. Ours is 2 full days, first one is tomorrow. It's us and another couple, taught by a midwife so hopefully she'll know the realities of labour.

I'm hoping it will help, heard really good stuff about it, but even if it's no use at the actual birth it helps me to feel like I'm doing something now and preparing for labour.

Also doing NCT so I'll be all classed out by the time the baby arrives. Xx

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 07/02/2014 10:24

I'm not doing any classes I don't think but to help myself feel a little more in control, I'm sorting out the baby's things so far and figuring out what we still need. My mum's been going through washing a load of plain clothes from when we were little and also from when my cousin had her little girl last year and has sent a load of neutrals over to us, so once that's done we'll know how many more bodysuits etc we need to buy. Aside from that I think most of our stuff is done Shock

Vikks · 07/02/2014 10:44

Impatiently I've heard great things about it too, so finger crossed it'll help. Let me know how it goes tomorrow. I think it'll be nice for my DP too (his first child) he wants to feel like he can help me and does know what to expect.

Moomin I think I'm just about there too with my baby shopping, not much longer to wait!!! x

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 07/02/2014 10:44

These dreams are shit!!!

This time I dreamt baby was born at 28 weeks due to under developed lungs and transferred to Newcastle :-((

loopylou52 · 07/02/2014 10:46

I'm not doing hypnobirthing classes but I've got the natal hypnotherapy CDs and have just started doing those. I think relaxation will be a great skill for birth, whatever happens, and for life generally.

Thanks to all who need them today.

You're all making me feel so unprepared! We won't have the nursery ready until early March so aren't planning to buy most things until then so we've got somewhere to put them all. We have got endless lists of everything we intend to buy so I guess it'll just be a case of doing it all in one go - poor credit card! Shock

MasterFlea · 07/02/2014 10:55

Vikks, I'm not doing a class but did get the cd's of the Natal Hypnotherapy. I always fall asleep while doing them but they have a nice wake up bit at the end which means I don't feel all groggy when the session is over.
And during the night, I try to do the breathing and relaxing bit to get me back to sleep and it works well.

The breathing really helped me through the last labour. And those affirmations too. DH was so sceptical then but now is a believer.

My PGP comes in varying degrees now. Some days I can barely walk and others, I am nearly like normal. Waiting for the belt to come in the post.

Moomin It sounds like you have the patience of a saint. Your housemate sounds like a self centered twat and you're doing well not to engage with her. Have your tea and Magic star in a nice quiet room and forget about the twats in your life for half an hour.

McBaby · 07/02/2014 10:56

Feeling very frustrated after my 28 week appointment. The midwife was so dismissive of my questions and was just trying to get me out the room!

My first labour was very quick and when I spoke to the midwife at booking in we agreed that I should be booked in with the home birth team so they can come if I am not going to make it to hospital. Which is likely is its quicker than last time. This week she suggested I just phone an ambulance as paramedics are qualified to deliver babies fair enough in an emergency but surely not what I want as my brith plan.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 07/02/2014 11:22

loopy I don't think there's any danger of me being more prepared than anyone Grin we have the stuff... we just don't have a house to put the stuff, the baby or us in Grin at the minute it's separated between OH's parents house, my parents' house and the room we have here.

bushprincess · 07/02/2014 11:40

Hi All!

Thanks everyone for kind reassuring words.... feeling much better today (after massive crying session on wednesday and a couple of days 'making a plan')

SO... I went to see another mat unit yesterday that I'd been told about, it's new and there have been some political issues over it (a year or so ago some government guys wanted to take it over so sent in the army to kick everyone out - armed soliders clearing the wards etc!) but it SEEMS to have reverted to it's old owners so looks like its more stable now (take sounds v. dramatic... but you, know this is Zimbabwe Smile)!

anyhow - it was lovely, new, clean, small, calm with a lovely midwife who showed me round who was happy about encouraging active birth and immediate skin-to-skin bonding etc (unlike 60's bound other clinic - on your back and don't you dare touch baby until he's washed and weighed and you've had a shower - which was down the corridor of course!)

Looks like I'll have to change OBGYN to go there as the one I'm using will only deliver at the manky hospital... but if I can find someone nice then all is well and I'll stay put.

Have also had a good think about alternatives, debated South Africa or Nairobi (where I have friends and family and DH could easily visit for weekends) but have finally agreed that should I decide to leave I'll go back to my parents as will have to be there 2 months (fly at 36 wks, then bean arrives anything between 40 and 42 weeks and another 2 wks to get a passport before I can fly back)... and will be most comfortable at home. Thanks thistle and moobaloo for your suggestions!

SO anyhow, that's where we are at the moment - hopefully I'll come to a definite decision sometime soon!!

SO sorry to hear you're feeling sick on your baby moon clearly hope it passes quickly!

moomin housemates eh?! she sounds like a bitch, bet you can't wait to move out!

xav hope you survived your GGT

Vikks glad to hear your bp seems to have settled - sorry you're back to work but only 5 weeks to go!

mcbaby sorry to hear your mw was so dismissive - hope you come to a suitable arrangement.

thistle between the roof and your dreams doesn't sound like you're having a very restful day

and hi to everyone else! Flowers to anyone who needs them that I've missed!

sambababy · 07/02/2014 12:20

bushprincess I'm glad you found another option! I can sympathise because I'm living in Brazil at the moment and there seems to be no other option except flat on your back in a hospital bed, which is so far from what I wanted Sad I'm feeling very down and anxious about it. I'm going to visit the local hospital next week and am hoping to stumble across a miracle in the meantime.

Hello and hugs to everyone who's feeling rotten at the moment! Thank goodness we have MN and each other right?

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 07/02/2014 12:34

I'm sure this is more stress than we're meant to have during pregnancy Angry I'm trying to work out if we're eligible for housing benefit and child tax credit, but it needs to know how much we'll get in student finance next year. So then I'm trying to figure out my student finance.... and it needs to know how much we'll get in housing benefit and child tax credits next year.

Right now I'm still feeling like the only solution is for me and the baby to live back at home with my parents... leaving OH to work and stay up here, two hours away from his own newborn baby. Sad OH keeps telling me to stop stressing about it but I can't! I hate money Sad

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 07/02/2014 12:55

I'm the same with money at the min, my first two months of maternity money is half my
Salary! I don't know
How we will manage! Dh says we e fine!! I got me to thinking why did we plan to have a baby when we are so unprepared financially!
