All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

Arf @ crusty nipples! Grin

DH and I were umming and ahhing over NCT classes but decided against it because 1. I've done this whole baby thing before. I know what to expect in the early days and labour etc and 2. Paying £200 just to make friends isn't worth it. I'm too antisocial to PAY for friends, I can barely commit to the one or two I've made since moving here almost 2 years ago! Also, what if they all annoy me? Or if they expect to drop round at my house when I'm in my pants eating cornflakes out of a saucepan lid?
Not that I do that anymore but still.

If there are NHS ones, I'll do those.

Minions · 04/02/2014 13:24

We're booked for NCT classes starting early March. We've going for 6 weeks, once a week evening starting at 7pm. They also have some courses held just at weekends. I'm also down for the nhs ones which runs for 4weeks on Friday afternoons. I'm disappointed they don't run evening ones, I don't know many who could take every Fri afternoon off for a month and more so for the partners. Told midwife that I'm doing nct & she said I could drop into just one or two nhs ones if they're covering anything not covered in my paid for classes. Just need to find out what the nhs ones cover now...

McBaby · 04/02/2014 13:45

I did NCT the first time around and still see them regularly during the week as most of them have gone back to work part time. Glad I did it is nice to have people who live close by in the same situation having a. Baby can be very isolating.

I did both NCT and NHS classes first time around and what they taught you re birth and pain relief was very similar.

dobedobedo · 04/02/2014 13:53

What does everyone pee into for their midwife appointments? Because aiming right with those teeny bottles with this big bump is impossible. I've finally found a use for the ramekins in the back of the kitchen cupboard! Grin

Minions · 04/02/2014 14:07

Plastic cup dobe which is then thrown out. My aim is just not that good!

LongTailedTit · 04/02/2014 14:15

dobe I bought a small plastic jug from the local cheapy shop, it's ideal! No more aiming, phew.

Must remember not to let it make it's way into the kitchen ever... Grin

NannyPlumForPM · 04/02/2014 14:28

Oooh I just go with the teeny tiny tube!! Grin

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 04/02/2014 15:57

Fed up today!!!Hmm

moobaloo · 04/02/2014 16:20

Oh no thistle why? I can sympathise with the crusty nipples!

Had my mw appt today, got to hear heartbeat which was nice as had a few days of less movement and what there was was not as strong as before. Wasn't too worried as I was still feeling him move regularly so I thought he was probably in a funny position (reassured by others on here with similar!) I was right, took mw a while to find his heartbeat and she said he was curled up right at the back. She could hear him moving quite a lot but I couldn't feel it as he has enough space where he is Smile looked in my notes and discovered I have an anterior placenta! Which explains why I feel kicks more at the sides of my bump and didn't start to feel any kicks until 20 weeks.

Have to have another Anti D at 29 weeks though - thought I might get away with it as I had one 2 weeks ago but no such luck!

Hope everything goes well for everyone today!

PotatoPolly · 04/02/2014 18:41

I just wee into the teeny tiny tube too!

Looked into the NCT classes but they're just too expensive, and DH works shifts so will struggle to get to the same class each week so I'm just going to do the NHS ones. I think I'm going to go along to a breastfeeding class at the hospital too.

Got my anti D in a couple of weeks- definitely not looking forward to it having had one for a bump to my tummy already!

dobedobedo · 04/02/2014 19:19

Saw my midwife today. She's lovely Smile BP is lower than it ever has been, everything else is good apart from the spd which now that I'm being careful, isn't as bad as it was.
She runs her own antenatal and postnatal classes along side the NHS ones. She said hers is very sociable and less formal so I'm looking forward to starting them at the end of March.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 04/02/2014 19:25

Funeral went well. Glad I went as OH really struggled, as soon as they'd finished lowering the coffin he came over and held my hand and was in tears. They've set up a fund in his uncle's name and £1700 has already been raised for cancer research :) We had a smile this evening when we saw that Scotland has legalised gay marriage - as OH said, his uncle's already making waves up there Grin

A few family issues that I think will get worse before they get better, but I'm glad I was there for him. His parents seemed really grateful too. Thanks everyone for your advice and support throughout this :)

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 04/02/2014 19:30

Today I got told in clinic that baby will be born around 37 weeks,
No later than 38! Also a chance he can go to nicu because of diabetes but ill do my best to prevent that by feeding him appropriately! Also discussed elcs as normal delivery as a diabetic is 50/50 or emergancy ceseraian!

Xavielli · 04/02/2014 21:38

How do you feel about c section thistle? I'm not sure what I'd do in that situation so I really feel for you!

I know now that my wee boy will be arriving in the week commencing 13/4/14 - 10 weeks time.

Minions · 04/02/2014 21:43

moomin - so difficult but glad you were able to be there. Hope you both get time to rest and be together x

thistle getting so real now. Hope everything is ok when wee one is born, sounds like they're making the best arrangements for you.

Does anyone know if a baby can be too active? I know it sounds like a silly thing to worry about but I'm wondering if mine is getting enough sleep. Kicks loads, some quite painful now. I'm torn between loving the movement & worrying its hyper Confused

xalyssx · 04/02/2014 21:59

I have low blood pressure too at the moment, but I have a fast heart rate.
Today I had a weird craving and ended up eating a huge bowl of coleslaw with cheese in. Yesterday I had a bowl of grated cheese and mayonnaise though so I guess today was slightly better.

randdom · 04/02/2014 22:01

Thanks for all the advice. After a few days of worry baby appears to have woken up again and has been really active this evening... That or it really likes what I had for supper!

mrsmummytobe · 04/02/2014 23:26

I don't know minions, sorry. I would talk to your midwife if you're worried though. I wish we were having another scan around 30 weeks. Think it's stressful wondering if everything is still ok with the baby.

I've had a really nasty day today. Loads of stresses going in at school. I have a new head of department & I really feel like he doesn't appreciate anything I do. It's like he just can't wait to take over all the things I've done when I go on maternity leave & is desperate to try & get one up on me the whole time. He observed me teaching & wrote a few really annoying comments. This review will stay on my file so wondering whether to argue my case with him. The thing is it was all 'this is good' etc but nothing was very good or excellent, when actually I felt some things were really good. Is this just me overreacting? Sometimes my pregnancy hormones run away with me! He also kept referring to any antenatal appointments I have coming up as "your bumpy business", which made me think he has the mental age of a 12 year old boy!!

dobedobedo · 05/02/2014 06:30

Hope you're okay moomin. Thanks

Minions, I don't know if they can be too active. I know mine has days where I feel like he's trying to kill me! I went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago as I had bad pain in my side so I thought it was a kidney infection, but no. It was swelling of the ureters caused by a kicky baby! Shock if you have concerns, always see your midwife though.

How are your other halves dealing with your pregnancies? I asked dh yesterday if me being pregnant was what he thought it would be (he came along when ds was 4) and he said it's been way easier than he expected! He said he thought I'd be on my back with my feet up for 9 months and he'd have to bring me drinks and fan me all day! Now I wish I'd hammed it up a bit more Grin Grin Grin

Ah well, it's the third trimester next week... He won't know what hit him! Wink

mumof2aimingfor3 · 05/02/2014 07:20

minions dd2 was constantly on the go right up until the day she was born, but....she also came over three weeks early! Her brother is the same, no matter what im doing I feel him moving about pretty much all the time. Dont worry though my dd2 isn't a hyper child but she is energetic.

moomin glad all is ok and that you and OH are well as can be.

My OH is dealing with pregnancy fine as long as he doesnt see my belly move! He finds it a bit unnerving that I am growing another human being in me! But hes always been that way on. He still finds me attractive and calls me sexy at least once a day which for me is really important.

impatientlywaiting · 05/02/2014 07:20

28 weeks for me today. Hello Third Trimester. Can't actually believe I still have 3 months left of being pregnant though. Seems like forever away, although not compared to how long we've already been pregnant I suppose.

Down and back to London today for me (from Newcastle), 6 hours on the train! Usually stay over but have a hospital appointment tomorrow to get a mole checked out, so meant I had to return same day. Hopefully my back won't seize up and I'll still be able to walk tomorrow.

rebeccax2 · 05/02/2014 07:43

OH my god that cracked me up xalyssx

My OH has been pretty good. I wish he would do the dishes more... sigh . He did organise for us to have a cleaner as soon as I found out - shows what he was most concerned about ;-) I think he feels a bit left out sometimes, the poor darling.

Tube strike today! Arghh. I'm going to try to go in in about 30 mins. Think I'll be walking though! :-)

ClearlyMoo · 05/02/2014 07:51

Congrats to those entering 3rd trimester! Eeek! Glad the funeral went ok Moomin!

Started NCT last night. So glad we've done it. It was £200+ GULP but we booked it months ago so I've forgotten the money now (obviously not)! Lovely teacher, six other couples in group. We got split into girls & guys which was great. I'm the latest due date in my group... Which feels odd in someways! We have 8 weeks of classes on a Tues night! We learned an overview of labour and what "fully dilated" and "crowning" meant last night! Fascinating. Also that babies heads go elongated to come out so they are only 10cm diameter. This made me relieved!

There are just two NHS classes in my area a bf one and a Q&A we will try to get to those too. Both MW & NCT lady highlighted the importance of partners going to BF classes too if at all possible.. Something to bear in mind!

Off on the babymoon today! Roll on posh hotels and pool and being cooked for!

loopylou52 · 05/02/2014 08:56

Enjoy your babymoon clearly! It's my birthday today so have taken the day off work and am going to spend it being lazy! Smile

My dh is being lovely - most of the time looks after me really well, talks to the bump etc which is really sweet. Sometimes I don't feel like he really 'gets' it though - eg it really irritates me when he complains about being tired, but maybe that's just me being mean! I'll have to ask him how it compares to what he expected, but I suspect he'll just say he doesn't know cos he didn't know what to expect!

ClearlyMoo · 05/02/2014 09:05

Happy Birthday Loopy!

Packing for babymoon... Pregnancy is so glamourous... Gaviscon, tena lights, rennies...
