All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 01/02/2014 12:47

I currently sat in kiddie care while dh enquiries about a cotbed set! Swinging away on a maternity chair!

dobedobedo · 01/02/2014 12:58

I nipped into town for some toothpaste. Came out with a bunch of cute lil baby clothes that we can't really afford this month
Oops!

NannyPlumForPM · 01/02/2014 13:20

Grrr I am so jealous of all the shopping! Sad thing about dd2 is that we really don't need that much!!

I think after much debate we've finally decided on the name Poppy for our little girl- still need to think of a middle name but it is lovely when dd calls her by her name. She was helping with the puzzle this morning! Getting close now ladies.... 27 weeks!

Squiffie · 01/02/2014 14:32

Anyone else feel like they need a pen and paper to make notes when they come on here?! Lol x

I make a mental note as I read of replies I want to send - welcomes, well wishes, congrats, empathy and so on but then I get to the end and everything's gone from my sieve brain!

So much love and best wishes to those having a tough time (Alyss and Vikks), welcome new peeps, congrats on lovely scan/gender/name news and hugs all round to anyone who needs one or just fancies one!

PixieBumbles · 01/02/2014 15:19

alyss what a scare! I'm glad you're ok and hope she doesn't give you any more frights

We've had loads of clothes and assorted other baby stuff handed down to us. Our nursery furniture has been chosen and paid for by DH's aunt (fortunately she has great taste and it's gorgeous!) and we've been given loads of other bits and bobs. I'm very grateful and feel so fortunate to have such generous friends and family but I can't help feeling like I'm missing out as there is very little that we're actually getting to choose and buy ourselves!

MasterFlea · 01/02/2014 18:45

How horrible for you Alyss. I hope you have smoother sailing from here on. You surely deserve it.

We are still working on our name list. We won't tell anyone beforehand either. My mother still mispronounces DD2s name. She is 2.

We are trying to get a name that works in both our countries. And then there are name days in Finland. It is like a mini birthday so we had a name picked and realised the name day clashed with DD1s and this baby's birthday so back to the calendar to find a name on a different month. Yes, we might be overthinking it but it is always nice to have a party separate to somebody elses.

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 01/02/2014 19:03

can I just ask what ppls hair condition is like!?? I've found mine to be much thicker and shiney and more grey! Ha

MasterFlea · 01/02/2014 19:16

Mine takes longer to get greasy. And it isn't falling out as much either. Nice while it lasts.

Vikks · 01/02/2014 19:28

I think my hair is the only part of me doing well! Thicker, shinier, which it would stay....I lost a lot of hair last time as soon as I'd given birth. Confused

randdom · 01/02/2014 21:35

My hair is definitely better than it used to be!

My appetite has gone through the roof at the moment! I don't know whether I am actually eating more or whether I am just back to normal as my nausea has finally pretty much gone!

LongTailedTit · 01/02/2014 21:42

Squiffie yes yes!! I feel like such a plank, always feel like I've typed the wrong thing! Ah well, I can barely concentrate enough to finish a sentence anyway, it's amazing if anything I type makes sense....

DH spent the afternoon baking the same orange blossom and carrot cupcakes that he did for our wedding, annoyingly we can't eat them as we're taking them to lunch tomorrow - grrrr!

I'm most definitely NOT blooming here, hair is ok, but other than that my skin is terrible, Sahara-dry and breaking out in spots still. Yuck.
Also, DS headbutted me in the nose a few weeks ago and now I have a little round patch of broken veins where he clonked me - looks like a permanent spot. :(

Re names, we inadvertently called DS1 the same name as an ex of my mother's - she didn't use his proper name for the first year... Fine with it now tho! :)
We're struggling to find another boys name we both like for TinyTit, having had tons we agreed on for girls names! Gah!

Minions · 01/02/2014 22:27

Is anyone else getting kicked hard now? I had my first out loud exclamation today as mini-minion kicked me hard, was so sore! He/she's going at it again now. Nothing as sore as this afternoon but still uncomfortable. Also wondering if too much movement is a bad thing? 27+4 today

ClearlyMoo · 01/02/2014 22:46

Hello everyone.

I definitely need a notebook to keep up with everyone's news! Love to Alyss... Keep her in! And to those recuperating... Thistle & Vikks for starters & Moomin due to all manner of events.

We booked our "babymoon" today! I'm excited. We are using special savings for a pre baby break. We only got married (and moved in together etc - we are both Christian) in May so Baby has come along quickly and will arrive around our first anniversary... I'm 26 weeks today (debate over what size lettuce baby resembles DH says "The Bump" should be more specific on variety- he's a farmer...)

Baby moon is simple English luxury. 2 nights each in 2 hotels. One with a pool, one a big posh chain. 4 x 3 course dinners included! DH can only get away for 4 nights this time of year, but trying to avoid school hols and go while I'm still comfy travelling etc... Can't wait til next Weds to go!!

bushprincess · 02/02/2014 05:37

Fabulous clearly, sounds like a perfect plan! We're also planning a get away, but won't be until the beginning of march as i have work to get finished and we're planning on tying it in with s friends wedding in south Africa (save on flights!) Our problem has been finding somewhere non-malaria to go!

bushprincess · 02/02/2014 05:39

On not so pleasant topics, anyone else getting calf cramps at night? I've been getting some really bad ones Sad

Minions · 02/02/2014 08:48

clearly, that sounds lovely! Definitely worth doing, we're not long back from ours and it was great having time for the two of us to catch up.

princess, it's only happened once but it was so painful I wondered how I'd manage birth! The past few nights when I've felt a twinge I've pulled my toes up to stop it happening just in case. No idea whether you can actually stop it by doing that or whether I've just had twinges.

Vikks · 02/02/2014 09:00

Princess I get them too. In fact an hour ago I was rudely awoken with one. The pain is awful, the best way I find to get rid quickly is stand up and bend my toes. I can still feel it now...

Clearly sounds lovely, enjoy yourselves. Smile x

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 02/02/2014 09:53

Hope everyone's doing ok, thread moves so much in such little time it's so hard to keep up!

I spent much of last night on the labour ward with cramps, electric-shock type pains and reduced movement. Of course as soon as they put me on the trace, baby starts kicking like nobody's business so all's good there but I was talking to the midwife about the headaches and suddenly there's a doctor in the room getting me an urgent referral to neurology, apparently it could be any time in the next week that they see me - they're not sure if it's migraine or possibly something else so they want to do some tests. Also got a scan next week as second episode of reduced movement and bump measures 26cm when I'm 28 weeks tomorrow.

Time to start taking things easy I think. I really overdid things with my individual directing assessment last week, I've been lifting heavy stuff and running around like a headless chicken so I guess it's time to stop.

Xavielli · 02/02/2014 10:22

Another one up on labour ward here. Hands and feet started itching on Friday evening and it's hasn't stopped so they've got me in straight away. On monitor at the mo waiting for bloods and a doctor. Hoping they don't make me stay until the results are in.

loopylou52 · 02/02/2014 10:31

oh dear, not more people with trips to hospital! Xav and moomin - hope all is ok and you're home soon. Thanks

I woke up with my calf threatening cramp. I've had a few cases of cramp in the top of my thigh / front of my hip - it turned out these were probably related to the pgp so I haven't had them since the physio did some massage. They felt so weird though - I've never had cramp in my thigh before so the first time it happened I panicked that I had a dvt or something!

My hair is def falling out less too, although I don't feel like it feels any thicker. Dreading it all shedding after the baby and the inevitable panic about going bald!

Hezbean · 02/02/2014 11:02

Oh my goodness, lots of positive thoughts and hugs to all of you having problems and in hospital. Hope you are being looked after. Fingers crossed everyone is well and home soon xx

Yesterday I saw my oldest friend and she is 38 weeks. I thought my bump was getting big but it's nothing compared to hers! Can't believe we will all be like that in a few weeks time.

Going to have a look at cots today :-)

Is anyone else really irritable and intolerant at the moment? My lovely lovely dh is suffering a bit from me at the moment, he can't seem to do anything right poor thing. I feel bad!!

I was awake from 4am in a panic worrying that the baby wasn't moving. Worried myself into a right tizz but everything seems to be fine this morning phew.

dobedobedo · 02/02/2014 11:04

Gosh xav and moomin, sorry to hear you're in hospital! Hopefully you'll both be on the mend soon. Thanks

Xavielli · 02/02/2014 12:57

Liver function is 'off' bile acids won't be back til tomorrow. They're booking me a scan (hoorah!) so looking very much like I have obstetric cholestasis again.

Xavielli · 02/02/2014 12:57

I'm on my way h
