All of us May mummies are BACK like the Terminator only less deadly (unless preggo rage strikes and we're within waddling distance of sharp things)

Aw, pixie that is just Sod's law. I'm impressed that you went to the effort to change it despite having so little support from your colleagues. I hope they appreciate it. Sorry you're missing the breakfast, not quite the same but gave some Cake from me

Minions · 30/01/2014 21:56

And glad all ok with you mrs, I get paranoid too - too little/too much movement. Bean can't win! It is tough when comparing to others, and getting advice - all good intentions I know but sometimes I'd rather not hear it...

snoozysleeper · 30/01/2014 22:31

Hi all,

Sorry been away for a while, just had so much work on! Hoping to return to mumsnet properly by the end of next week!

I hope you're all well, thinking of you all Flowers

24+3

So tired all the time!!! When do u "bloom"

Clairededare · 30/01/2014 23:40

Thanks all for the tights wisdom everyone. Am a university lecturer and spent yesterday in state of paranoia that my 60 denier gusset was heading south and had to keep slyly hoiking when I thought students weren't looking... So professional Blush Know what you mean about looking like you've had a bum accident Mrsfoo
Got some boots ones & marks ones but will deffo check out the other recommendations.
Irish really hope you get the support you deserve now after a frightening time. No one should have to deal with that level of threat during pregnancy - totally unacceptable.
Team pink here. DP delighted and singing to bump regularly though not sure if she's a Prince fan!

bushprincess · 31/01/2014 05:09

welcome claire and congrats on team pink!! Hope you manage to get some tights that will last a full lecture!!

Irish sorry you're being made to feel so undermined at work - it's the little things that make the difference between being happy somewhere and feeling on edge, hope you make it through the next 10 weeks with your sanity in tact...

Irish what a scary awful thing to happen to you, sounds like the school really hasn't taken their duty of care seriously at all, I hope they put some protective measures in over the next two weeks before you go back... good luck.

mrsfoo hope you've managed to shrink the jeans! good luck with your venture - sounds intriguing!

Hope everyone has a good day with JUST the right amount of wiggling from the beans!!

Irisheyessmiling · 31/01/2014 08:23

Thanks for support everyone much better today and bumps been kicking lots I think to reassure us! Def going to go in armed with union advice etc to ensure I feel safe for last term before mat leave..could have been a very different outcome and that's not ok! Ashley trying to get friend to get hold of paper copy of my laughable risk assessment before they doctor the electronic one-it's been known for them to do this with minutes from meetings so ppl lose the job they were offered etc!

Reduced movements are horrible personally while I love my big round bump and feeling the kicks I just can't wait for baby to be here so I can see more clearly everything's ok rather than trying to interpret every llittle wiggle or non wiggle. That or a sunroof on my tummy!

LongTailedTit · 31/01/2014 10:14

Morning all!
Irish Hope you can get hold of the original, sounds like you'll need as much ammo as possible to get a safer working environment sorted out. Do you have a date for your meeting?

In the great GTT saga, unsurprisingly my midwife still hasn't got back to me, so I've booked myself in for it anyway for the week after next. Still pissed off about it, it's going to cost me £25 in childcare, and lose me £150 as that's my working hours gone for the week! Hmm Bah humbug.
It's going to be a busy old medical week, got whooping cough jab Monday, Midwife Tuesday, GTT Wednesday, then TB clinic for the whole family on Thursday! So far Friday will be our day of rest. :)

Does anyone know what week us Rhesus Negative ladies are supposed to have our Anti-D injection?
I didn't get a chance to ask my midwife about it and can't remember from last time!

moobaloo · 31/01/2014 10:31

ltt I think anti d is standard at 28 weeks but I had one at 22 because of bleeding. Now don't know if I have to have another one or if that's it until the birth!

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 31/01/2014 10:37

Anti d and whooping cough are all at 28 weeks

MrsFooCough · 31/01/2014 10:44

Anyone who's had the whooping cough jab already, either this pg or in previous ones, can you compare it with your flu jab? I'm awful with jabs, needles, blood tests, I get complete panicky verbal diarrhoea and poor DH is telling me to calm down as I'm crushing his hand haha Blush
Flu jab was fine actually, I'm guessing the needles for flu and whooping cough are probably similar sized, blood test needles are so horrid because they have to be able to pull through big huge red blood cells intact! I heard some girl complaining about the whooping cough one when I was booking my next consultant appt though, so I'm a bit scared Shock
But does the jab make you very sore afterwards? My flu one was fine, just a small amount of very localised soreness for about 36hrs. Is the whooping cough in your arm? Or leg? Or BUM? Hmm

Irish I'm sorry that your school is clearly a rotten place! Doctoring meeting minutes to make people look bad? That's appalling. My mum's old place was pretty bad but it was only one person, the head. Granted she did make several teachers retire or take long term sick leave and never come back by the end of her first year. Nervos, the lot of them. The bullying got too much!

PixieBumbles · 31/01/2014 10:45

Anti d is meant to be 28 weeks, although I'm having mine at 27 because my midwife took my bloods at 26 weeks expecting to then arrange my appointment for two weeks' time, then the hospital informed her they've changed their policies and my anti d needs to be done within a week of the bloods, so it was have it at 27 weeks or go back again to have more blood taken.

LongTailedTit · 31/01/2014 10:48

Ah, thank you!
The docs receptionist told me the midwife has to administer it, not the nurse (who does the whooping cough jab), so I'll have to get hold of her before my 28wk appt.

26+6 now, time's ticking on!

MasterFlea · 31/01/2014 11:01

That is terrible what happened to you Irish

If they don't remove the boy from your class, would your doctor sign you off work for the rest remainder of the pregnancy? The stress and anxiety that would come in fear for your safety would surely justify that.

I'm not sure about employment law though so it is just an idea. It may have lots of holes in it though.

LongTail your pains sound like Pelvic Girdle pain to me. I can't walk much either.

DH actually admitted last night that he is glad that this is my final pregnancy. He hates seeing me in such pain and is looking forward to me being normal again. That and he probably hates doing most of the housework now.

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 31/01/2014 11:48

Anti-D is meant to be 28 weeks but I'm having mine just before 30 weeks for some reason Hmm

Sorry to be a wee bit self-centred in this post, but is anyone suffering from heartburn/acid reflux?

I've been getting it for the last fortnight and it's gradually getting worse. I'm not sleeping a great deal at the best of times, but twice this week I have been sick through the night as well which I'm sure is down to the acid reflux. The worst was last night with vurps (vomit burps), waking up with a mouthful of acidic vomit is revolting! Sorry TMI!

I've been taking Rennies and Gavison and drinking cold milk, started trying to have small meals often and not eating later at night, now plan to stick to plainer food in the hope it will help.

Does anyone have any top tips I should try? TIA.

LongTailedTit · 31/01/2014 12:54

Isean I don't find Gaviscon helps me, but basic Tums do! Give them a go, I find they stop the sick-ups and the burn.
Also, drinking milk helps for a short while, but apparently the fats in milk then make the acid worse as they're digested - the best drink I've found to help is Oatly chocolate milkshake. It's oat milk, in the 'free-from' bit of the supermarket, and the choc one is v nice. :)

Masterflea I'm quite glad this is our last too! Bizarrely I've already forgotten how bad I felt in the first trimester, but I do remember thinking "I'm never doing this again".
Reading up on t'Google last night I thought it might be sacroiliac pain, not sure. Need to talk to my Osteo next time I go.
I'm trying to book onto a preg yoga course at the mo, I couldn't last time as I got home too late and have never done any kind if yoga before. Fingers crossed there's room on the course, I have high hopes!

MoominIsGoingToBeAMumWaitWHAT · 31/01/2014 13:25

Only three days away from official 3rd trimester but I think in terms of tiredness etc I'm there. I'm feeling so run down and rough. Baby is wriggling like crazy - just recorded a video of my entire bump moving as it shifts about from one side to the other!

dobedobedo · 31/01/2014 13:36

Isean Ask your midwife for a prescription to help with the heartburn - they can prescribe "super" gaviscon type stuff. I have bad heartburn and this helps. Though to be honest, lately I need to take it more often. Think it's because baby's head is jammed up in my ribs and squashing my stomach!

Just got a call from the doctors about my blood tests the other day. The GTT results aren't in yet, but I'm anaemic. Explains why I'm so tired all the time I guess!

Does anyone else feel like pregnancy is causing them no end of ailments and various conditions?! I feel like my body is falling apart!

Xavielli · 31/01/2014 13:44

You can take ranitidine tablets whilst pregnant, I'd never have git through the 1st 15 weeks without them

Isean · 31/01/2014 13:46

Thanks Long and Dobe, I'm seeing the midwife on Monday for my 28 week appointment, so I'll try and get something then. My baby's head is also jammed up against my ribs, so uncomfortable!

Dobe I am also iron deficient and on ferrous fumerate tablets, supposed to be 3 times a day but they are so hard on my digestive system I'm only taking 2 a day at the moment, along with lots of iron rich food, OJ with juicy bits, prune juice when I can and on lactulose too!

Hobbling about like an old woman too most of the time, especially when I get up from lying and sitting down. Hope the hip pain isn't going to get too much worse!

I feel terrible when I moan about pregnancy symptoms as I feel so privileged and amazed to be able to carry and grow our baby, when so many people struggle and may never get to experience it.

Irisheyessmiling · 31/01/2014 13:56

Masterflea that will certainly be something I'm considering. Either he needs to be removed or I do and from my research yesterday work have to make it safe for me and if they can't then they have to keep me at home on full pay. Though they can then make me start mat leave 4 weeks before due date which would be a bit pants as I want as much time with baby as poss! Hopefully though won't come to it, as it is possible to make me safe they just need to actually do it!

Thanks again for support, good to know that I'm not alone in thinking the stalinesque goings on at school are insane!

dobedobedo · 31/01/2014 15:04

Isean I feel the same. I feel like I'm very lucky and special to be pregnant, but I still reserve the right to bitch and moan! Grin

It might sound silly, but sometimes the realisation that I am growing a human inside me just astounds me (and freaks me out a little!). The human body is incredible!
