Sinks have you tried turning over via hands and knees? Ie turn into the mattress onto your hands and knees as opposed to turning over away from the mattress on your back. Its a hassle but may help with the pain and is a bit better for your ligaments

FrankelInFoal · 19/02/2014 08:24

My technique for getting out of bed these days is stick feet out and roll off side of bed hoping feet hit the ground first Grin

Thankfully I've not been needing to get out of bed in the middle of the night to pee lately, so my sleep hasn't been too interrupted. I'm still waking up every few hours and having to readjust my position before dropping back off. Honestly, the number of pillows I'm using at the moment is ridiculous - 3 for my head, 1 for my feet, a maternity pillow between my knees and around my back, plus an extra one in the small of my back to stop me rolling over in the night Hmm

SinkyMalinks · 19/02/2014 09:20

Merk, how do you do that without the bump getting you stuck?! Will try tonight, but I can foresee me getting wedged... Grin

Frank, my getting up strategy is the same. Roll and hope...

It takes a bit of arm leverage, you really have to end up on hands and knees (which feels like an effort in the middle of the night) but better for you evidently

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 19/02/2014 16:14

Definitely got up for a wee, twice... But I have been struggling failing to get back to sleep. The tips were, Magnesium pills, a walk before bed time, generally up my salt intake (really low bp as well) and doing yoga or something similarly relaxing. I haven't done the yoga as it requires moving from the couch after tea, which is nigh impossible...

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 19/02/2014 16:15

My bump is still little and I haven't needed extra pillows or crazy turning tricks. Lembie protests when I try turning onto my belly...

MyNameIsWinkly · 19/02/2014 16:18

I've found pregnancy pilates amazing for sleep. Best sleep I get is on the pilates nights. Tis a bit pricey but so worth it for the restful sleep. The crazy dreams tire me out even when I do sleep.

Does anyone know if Kiddicare do maternity clothes? I'm short on time but in desperate need of some tops.

The Kiddicare website only has TENS machines if you search for "maternity", winks, so think you may be out of luck.

Tiredness didn't hit until about eight weeks, bugs, but it hasn't really eased much since - I am so grateful for being a housewife! I was mooching round town today while the car was in the garage and nearly fell asleep in the library... Generally I nap in the mornings after HOTB goes to work and then I'm good all afternoon/evening, but if I have to get up early I am useless by teatime.

maamalady · 19/02/2014 16:39

Oh, and speaking of baths, I had a nice bubble bath last night - not sure if baybee appreciated or objected to it, but I was getting pummelled hard enough that I could see my belly moving Grin It's SO WEIRD, in a nice sort of way...

eurochick · 19/02/2014 16:43

There will definitely be cake tomorrow. I'm loving the crafty ideas too. Grin

bugs I'm not quite sure how I have dragged myself through. Most days I just collapse in the evening. The work social events and travel have been really, really tough.

SinkyMalinks · 19/02/2014 17:55

I was exhausted Bugs. That and the stupidly sore boobs is why I tested.

Having said that, I did a triathelon at about 5 weeks, before I tested and felt great afterwards (and then tested and have done no exercise since...). Swimming might do you good if you can face it.

Apparently lots of baybee's go nuts when you go swimming - like they can feel the sensation of the water supporting your body. Might be why yours had a party Draf

I've just woken up from a 2 hour nap to find Turnip has rotated from nicely lying on my left side to having her back lying in a vertical line against the outside of my belly. My bump now looks triangular Hmm

Unfortunately didn't get to speak to the breastfeeding lady - drove over to the venue, thankfully just the next village, to find it was shut for half term! Hopefully Turnip can hang on past next week to give me a chance! I'll also keep reading my book too.

New series starts in April, I think. I am hoping friends of ours host a GoT party like they did for the start of the last series - we took along a big bag of Tyrell's crisps and a bottle of wine named Tryst, which was the closest thing we could find to represent the Lannisters...

Interesting, Frank! I'll have to get a maternity costume and go swimming, just to see!

SinkyMalinks · 19/02/2014 18:22

Oh yeah, I felt the first definite movements after swimming! Was much fun.

GOT 4th April I think. It will be my mat leave/bfeeding viewing. And rereading the first book Grin. May rewatch series 1&2 prior. Don't have 3 but have been catching the odd episode they're repeating at the moment. Am excited! I assume Joffrey/Margery's wedding will be this series?

Anyone read the 2nd book onwards? Might invest...

OP posts:
maamalady · 19/02/2014 18:30

I have all the books, sinks, they're great. Sometimes the latest one gets a bit bogged down in details of bits I find less interesting, but others probably love those bits. In any case, there is a LOT more detail in the books, and I loved reading all of Jaime's chapters, especially when he was travelling with Brianne.

Joffrey is, as they say, a cunt. Although I have seen a gorgeous clip of the actor cuddling a puppy and giggling; it blew my mind Grin The poor guy is going to have to take some time off acting just to let people forget how much they hate him.

FrankelInFoal · 19/02/2014 18:32

Bugs, your diet sounds fine to me. Carbs are definitely what you crave through the first few months, I found they helped keep the morning sickness at bay. I'm back on sweet stuff again now, having had a very healthy few months, I figure the body craves what it needs Grin

maamalady · 19/02/2014 18:35

See? Cuteness!

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 19/02/2014 18:36

Bugs, exhaustion and huge boobs were my only symptom for a long time! Now I just have belly to add to that as well... Being attached to the couch is perfectly ok. I try to exercise sometimes, but mist evenings I am simply vegging. But I am doing a trial yoga class tonight! I really am Hmm

SinkyMalinks · 19/02/2014 18:41

I heard he was planning on leaving the profession after GOT Draf.

That sounds weird. Doesn't plan on professionally acting again is maybe better? I think I need to sleep...

Oh really? I thought I'd heard he was planning on stopping for a few years to study, but I'd assumed he was planning on coming back. He does a superb job, it'd be a shame to lose him.
