Gaviscon advance prescription is on my hitlist for this attempts mw at the Gp appointment

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 09:16

Oh, I hate Mondays! And the 4 days that follow. Stupid work. Am tired and grumpy. 5 weeks to go.

Am also grumpy about the fact there are no baby shops near me. There's just nothing for a good 45 minutes and I want to go look at cute baby things! But our weekends are so busy we'll never get the time.

Can I ask: where will you be putting your car seat? The one that fits our pram will only fit in the front of the car (according to the manufacturer's website) which strikes me as a bit odd. Although some people say that's where you put it anyway so you can keep an eye on it when you're driving. Will be a bit weird when I'm with DH in the car too though!

Comms I have the same indecision over MLU vs. hospital. I only know 3 people who have had babies locally. They all started in the MLU. 2 were transferred out. 1 had the baby there, but it was her second.

Also, I have just been given my 4th playmat, yet still don't have the aforementioned car seat and haven't decided on a crib either. I love the idea of co-sleepers but don't understand how they work practically. You can't exactly scotch a newborn over to you to feed, can you? They're such delicate little things with floppy heads so I guess you have to pick them up quite carefully. Anyway, I've been given a crib already so I better just stick with that.

FrankelInFoal · 27/01/2014 09:19

Vanilla ice cream you say? That sounds like a plan Wink

I was going to get a Gaviscon prescription from the GP when I had bad heartburn at about 16 weeks, but it disappeared over night and I've been fine since, but it has now reared its ugly head again!

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 09:36

Sorry, I was being a dick just then. Just getting frustrated with the amount of my time spent at work when there's so many other things I want to be getting on with. That's life though.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2014 10:29

Fox, if your car has front passenger airbags do not put your baby's car seat there. They could be killed in an accident.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2014 11:06

First Martian baby has arrived!!! I'll leave it to the mother to fill you in. Details in the Facebook group for anyone that's a member.

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 11:07

Aaaaah, no way!! It's still January!! Who is it? Are they both OK?! I can't get on FB till after work!

Oh, and re: airbags, you can turn them off.

DitaVonCreamTeas · 27/01/2014 11:30

Oooh, there's a Facebook group? Anyone want to give me the link please?

Been necking the Gaviscon myself. Yuck.

LyraSilvertongue · 27/01/2014 11:40

Fox, it's Coolhand. Baby is 5 weeks early but fine Smile

mrsmugoo · 27/01/2014 11:50

Ahh wow the first one! Congrats to Mum and baby and I hope all is well.

Really struggling today - my spacial awareness seems to have fucked off overnight and I can't stop knocking things over, bumping into stuff, stubbing my toe and almost pranged the car.

My ribs and lower back are killing and I can't find one position that's comfortable.

HATE the fact that I still have 7 weeks to due date and that I know the worst is yet to come. I'm not a moaner, I take pride in sucking it up and getting on with it. I'm not ready to admit to anyone in real life that'm stuggling yet :(

Oh and I keep bursting into tears for no reason.

Sorry for moan.

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 11:51

Blimey O'Reilley.

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 11:51

Sorry, I think I just channelled my Irish Grandmother then.

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 12:44

Dita I don't think the facebook group is taking new members anymore. It's just people who have been around since the beginning, sorry.

mrs you sound like you have having a bad time of it. How much longer have you at work?

Rockchick1984 · 27/01/2014 12:49

Fox would the car seat go in the back with a base (either belted or isofix)? Statistically the most dangerous seat in a car is front passenger side, but obviously it's better there than in the back if the seat doesn't fit correctly. Personally if be tempted to go for a different seat if you could only use it in the front, but I know that with DS we only ever put the car seat on the pram a couple of times so wouldn't have been bothered if it fitted or not!

Mrsmugoo I lost all spacial awareness a few weeks ago - now frequently bang into things bump first, or try to reach things and forget that my arms are basically shorter now since I can't stand as close to anything!

I'm 35 weeks now and seriously counting days til I'm due - although bump has clearly dropped a bit as a few days ago I could barely breathe and now I can. Sadly means I've swapped that for needing to pee roughly every 2 hours through the night, and every hour or so during the day!

OwlinaTree · 27/01/2014 13:10

First Martian baby already! Hope all is well with both xx

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 13:22

No, the Britax website reckons not. I have no idea why though. It says the seat on it's own can't go in the car atall. I would have to order it in to a store to check for myself.

Maybe I should forget the idea of clipping it onto the pram. Thought it might be good for trips to the doctors or when popping to the shops. Basically whenever we leave the house it will be in the car. (I know they can't stay in the car seats for long, obv we would take it out if we were out for a few hours or more).

Second choice would be a maxi cosi, but their website doesn't list out car on the fit guide! Gaaaah! It's just a normal, non-fancy, family car!

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 13:24

mrs and rock* I don't think I ever had any special awareness! I've not noticed an increase in bumping into things anyway. Or an increased need to pee. I know I'm tempting fate, but I haven't a lot of the pregnancy symptoms everyone else seems to have.

DitaVonCreamTeas · 27/01/2014 13:30

Thanks FoxMulder fair enough. Smile

Got a really itchy tummy today and back, my skin is feeling super sensitive and anything with an elastic edge to it is driving me nuts.

mrsmugoo · 27/01/2014 13:38

I bump into something, knock it on the floor and then to add insult to injury have to bend over and pick it back up - my version of "bending" at the moment is a very un-ladylike sumo squat.

I'm also almost entirely brain dead - my "brain" has been replaced with soggy tissue I swear. I can't concentrate on anything. Working on a spreadsheet now and almost forgot how to work out a bloody percentage.

Fox Technically working until end of feb, so 5 more weeks but have already decided that I won't be able to manage that so I think this week will be my last full time week and I will cut down to 3 days a week in feb or something similar. I'm good for nothing anyway!

7 weeks of being a useless lump just seems like so long! I think I'm just frustrated because I had it SOOOO easy up to now and assumed I'd just breeze on through to 38 weeks at work and then have a couple of weeks with my feet up and knock up a few freezer meals, lovely jubbly.

mrsmugoo · 27/01/2014 13:39

Dita Same! All my waistbands are being rolled down at the moment, everything itches!!

Imeg · 27/01/2014 13:39

Fox: how about online shopping?

I bought this online today: not sure if it will be at all practical, and it says it's only suitable from 6 months (anyone know why - is it just that it's a bit big for earlier?) but I couldn't resist!

www.tesco.com/direct/munchkin-white-hot-inflatable-duck-tub/213-7604.prd?skuId=213-7604&pageLevel=sku&_requestid=1872021

FoxMulder · 27/01/2014 13:48

Yeah, I'll do a bit on onlineing imeg Smile

Not sure about the 6 months thing on the bath. Especially as it says from 1kg-10kg. Hmmm

Oh, I'm so excited about coolhand having had her baby!

IceNoSlice · 28/01/2014 09:32

Fox we had (and will have) our car seat in the back. It's a maxicosi pebble. I have a mirror clipped to the back headrest so can see baby from the front which is reassuring. However my friend has a 3 door car and always had her baby in the front. She's very safety conscious so I'm sure she had it all checked and it was fine. You need to disable the front passenger airbag though (this is not a big task).

mrsmagoo I have the undignified bump-into-something-have-to-squat-then-hoist-to-pick-it -up thing as well. Pregnancy is so glamourous!

FoxMulder · 28/01/2014 10:31

Think I've decided to get one that fits in the back, whether or not it fits on the pram.

I had a dream about having the baby last night. It was really scary. I don't know why, nothing bad happened, but I woke up freaked out.

Got my new bedroom furniture arriving tomorrow! Excited! Worried that we've made the wrong decision though. Got to dismantle the bed tonight, so we'll be sleeping on mattress on the floor!

Imeg · 28/01/2014 15:21

I went to the midwife today (35 weeks) and she said the baby's growth had tailed off a bit: she would have booked me in for a scan but I'm seeing the consultant on Monday anyway so she said to see what the consultant said.

There haven't been any concerns about its growth before and she didn't seem to feel there was any urgency to organise anything before Monday so I'm trying not to worry but it's easier said than done! Has anyone else had a similar experience?
