Well... we're getting there at least, and definitely ready to meet the first thread baby!

glitter I get that a few times a day, only lasts 20-30 minutes or so before it feels more normal again. My mw said it's just baby lying on some nerves that makes it feel odd/painful, and it's completely normal. I don't like it one bit! Also got SPD and yes, it is very different :)

Littleen · 16/01/2014 21:39

Oh, and just to say to those not on fb, DawnoftheDee is having her baby girl tomorrow! :D

glitterhoops · 16/01/2014 21:41

Good to hear the baby may change position. It's just too much to bear along with the SPD too. Nearly there though!

glitterhoops · 16/01/2014 21:56

Kalevala - did you have SPD in your first pregnancy but not your current one? Any advice for making the baby shift to a different position?
I've got a section planned for 38.4 weeks, so I know I'll not be a 42 weeker (like last time) but still the 4 weeks to go seem like an eternity at the moment.

winterflowers · 16/01/2014 21:59

Me too glitter it's so uncomfortable. Bleurgh.

I also discovered a ton of stretch marks today. Had escaped them so far and they seem to have appeared overnight so am singularly unimpressed. Any tips.for minimising them?

ch1134 · 16/01/2014 22:10

Good luck dawn!

ohhhhpieceofcandy · 16/01/2014 22:28

Ohhhh good luck Dawn!

Had my scan today, all good and placenta has moved so hopefully we're on for a home birth. Just need to confirm at next midwife appointment on Monday.

Woke up this morning with ANOTHER cold, this is the 3rd one in the last month! Poor DH is going to have to sleep in the spare room as snoring will most likely be at epic levels!

Littlebear10 · 16/01/2014 22:36

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I have been reading the thread but have managed to be about a month behind so have not been posting. It is lovely to actually read posts from the last couple of days.
Congratulations to Misskatamari and sunflowered, it's very exciting to have some babies arrive. It makes it all seem very real! I hope you are both doing well.
Misskatamari - Was it you who recommended the book 'Ready Player One' ages ago? I really enjoyed it.

Littleen · 16/01/2014 23:12

winter I also discovered more stretchmarks today, though I had some already. They've just extended, and now also getting some on my poor boobs! Huff. There's not much you can do about it, but if they itch and get sore, you can slap some cream on to help. They do fade luckily, with time!

Candy that's a lot of colds! Hope this one goes quickly. Glad to hear you are on for a homebirth :)

I've just found out that we will be highly unlikely for my OH to stay at home with me after the birth.. What do I do?! I have no idea what to expect in terms of me being up to do stuff or just needing to stay in bed for a few days, or what. Any suggestions or advice?

sunflowered · 17/01/2014 02:32

I thought I'd escaped with only a few stretch marks but as my bump shrinks I keep finding more - they're more obvious as they're less stretched Sad They'll fade though, and def worth it!

Glitter, really bad SPD in first pregnancy, after the birth ended up on crutches for a few weeks as well. All completely cleared up though and after some one on one pilates with a great physio I was fine.

Second pregnancy, I got pregnant when DD had just turned one. Was really careful from the outset, keeping legs together, always sitting like a Jane Austen character. Only did walking and swimming as exercise. Gave up vacuuming! And other strenuous housework. Wink Any time it gets stiff and sore I use ice packs. I also go once a week to a pregnancy aqua class run by a physio. So far so good, I'm a lot more mobile than I was second time around. Don't know obviously what will happen with the birth, but hopefully it will be better too.

Regards the baby changing position, I didn't do anything to cause that. DD came 10 days early, so she was just getting herself ready I think!

SPD is horrible, but the majority of people find it goes away after the birth. Good luck!

glitterhoops · 17/01/2014 10:10

Kalevala - yes the SPD in my first pregnancy disapeared after the birth - almost straight away. I did too try and be active this pregnancy, however it all got so painful, that I gave up half way through.

Re stretch marks, I haven't any new ones (so far) but I had loads from the 1st pregnancy and really I was amazed at how much they faded over time.

marzipanned · 17/01/2014 10:18

Littleen how long will you stay in hospital after the birth? I think it's a few days right? Is there any chance your OH can work those days instead of the ones when you come home? Alternatively I think you should line someone up (sister, friend, paid help, whoever) to give you a hand for at least the first week. Friends have said that it is tough for the first couple of weeks and you have no idea what state your body will in as so much depends on how the birth goes.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 17/01/2014 10:29

Littleen, my DH tends to take his Paternity Leave once I get out of hospital, as it's more useful for me to have him around for the time at home than just during visiting hours when I am in hospital being taken care of. Is that an option for you?

Very uncomfortable today but got to keep plodding on! Can't wait to see my consultant on Monday and finally have an end date in sight.

Good luck to the ladiesin meeting their little ones over the weekend... so exciting!

CubanoHabana · 17/01/2014 17:03

For those not on Fb, dawnofthedee has had her little girl this morning!

ch1134 · 17/01/2014 17:09

Congratulations Dawn!

amhurst · 17/01/2014 17:49

Congratulations to Dawn!

Morien · 17/01/2014 18:25

Congratulations Dawn!

I had to go the GP with my lovely piles this morning - oh, the glamour of pregnancy Blush He prescribed something stronger than the over-the-counter stuff that was no longer working - really hope it works as I've been in agony the last couple of days!

LittlePandaBear · 17/01/2014 19:59

Quiet on here today! Maybe everyone has gone into labour? ;)

So now there are 3 lovely baby girls born from the thread so we must be due a boy next. I'm not volunteering for mine to come out yet though...

Littleen - it will be difficult if your OH isn't home with you, but as others have said, as long as you have some support from family or friends when you want them then you'll be just fine. It will be more difficult if you need a c section as you won't be able to do much for yourself for a little while - ie lifting and getting about. Can DH work from home at all so that he's still working but able to help out a bit too when you need him - depends what he does!

Hope everyone else has plans for a lovely weekend. Mine will just be trying to get organised and more baby washing! But now that I'm off work on leave I've lined up some lunch dates for next week :)

LovesToBake · 17/01/2014 20:35

It has been quiet! I also just realised that we only have another 100 or so posts to go before we fill this thread, I'm amazed there have only been three babies so far! I suspect next week will bring lots more announcements and photos to keep the rest of us going!

LittlePandaBear · 17/01/2014 20:43

Well it's still mid Jan so plenty of time to get those Feb babies out! Although it may be tough for those due at the end of Feb who may go overdue.
Is there a postnatal category on mumsnet that we're meant to move to? I presume we can stay here until all bumps turn into babies!

CubanoHabana · 17/01/2014 21:44

Zazou. Has had a baby boy...

winterflowers · 17/01/2014 22:19

Good point panda, where do we move to? No rush though as I imagine I will be keeping us here till march if she goes over. F*ck that sounds SUCH a long way away!

Unplastered · 17/01/2014 22:35

There is a section in Parenting for post natal clubs I think

Littleen · 17/01/2014 23:07

Thanks for advice guys, though it sounds as if I'm in for a hard time! Got no one to help out really, everyone is busy with their own lives, and my other half have no chance of working from home or anything like that, so it just have got to work somehow. Will stay in hospital 2 days ish, then going home. Fingers crossed a c section is not needed, and that I feel well afterwards!

Grats to Zazou then, on the baby boy!

I just feel sad, my mum passed away earlier today, and it all seems very strange at the moment.
