Wow dawn, Friday! Eek!

Good news tiny

Bless husband, his work is like chinese whispers, he walked into staff room to have one lady telling another how I was engaged (currently 4/5ths) and as walking out, heard the one who had been told tell another how I was dilated... He said he couldn't be bothered to go and correct her but who knows what they will be saying tomorrow!

ohhhhpieceofcandy · 15/01/2014 20:33

Hi everyone, off for a scan tomorrow to see if the placenta has moved out of the way (I'll be 36 +4) so we'll see if a c section is on the cards. Just want to know either way now so I can prepare myself - if the placenta has moved I'm planning a home birth so it'll be one extreme or the other!

I still have two and a half weeks of work left. Working until the last minute is not seeming like such a bright idea now!

Has anyone had an issue with their gums? Mine have suddenly swollen up and keep bleeding. I had a similar thing happen at the beginning of the pregnancy so I guess it's just hormones. The tip of my tongue is also really sore.

sunflowered · 15/01/2014 20:36

Wow - the pace is really stepping up. Baby brain has properly kicked in and I can't remember everyone who's got sections and sweeps booked but sounds like we're going to be swapping a lot of bump pics for baby pics over the next few days. Really excited for everyone who's had questions resolved today, and fingers crossed that those of you who haven't can make some progress before d-day.

The sunflower seed has been super grumpy today but is now off all her drips and only attached to a feeding tube, and sleeping very peacefully finally. I've also learnt that expressing little and often is the key. Ouch.

thanks gnittinng

EmmaFreudsGivingMeJip · 15/01/2014 21:27

candy yes my gums have been really sore the last few days and started bleeding again! I've got some Corsadyl to see if that helps. Maybe it's just a rush of hormones now the end is near.....

LovesToBake · 15/01/2014 21:34

Funny you should mention about gums as mine bled when I brushed them yesterday which I thought was weird. Must be a late pregnancy sign. How active are your little ones now? I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and she seems to be more active than ever - today she was wriggling and booting around for hours mid-afternoon. Am taking this as a good sign that she's not enormous! She also gets several bouts of hiccups per day at the moment, often in the evening I find.

Littleen · 15/01/2014 21:45

candy also had some gum issues, though it only lasted a few days, they're fine now!

sun Hopefully the sunflower seed will cheer up now she's not attached to all sorts of things :)

lovesto Baby here is very active too, and wriggling about lots though it feels like very large movements now! 34+3 now :)

glitterhoops · 15/01/2014 22:28

Candy - my gums are terrible, this is really horrible, but I actually have blood blisters on the gums and my mouth fills up with blood a few times a week.. Then the swelling is so bad it's given me a constant sore throat and jaw ache : ( all down to hormones- so weird!

Artisticme · 15/01/2014 23:00

Aw dawn that's of exciting!! How are you feeling about it all? And I love the name Sadie!! That was one of my short listed names too:)

sun so nice to here A is doing so well:) bet you can't wait to get home now!! Sounds like it won't be too far away:) how are you recovering?

This morning had a successful date eating experience:) chopped 3 up and out them in with my muesli!!! Yayy atleast that's 3 done a day, they just taste like raisins then:) not sure how I'll do the other 3 yet:/

Back up to the hospital tomoro to get my b12 injection. Total wimp when it comes to needles and this pregnancy I feel Iv been a bit of a pin cushion. Has anyone had a b12 injection before? Or know if they hurt? Haha

Littleen · 16/01/2014 00:15

artistic shouldn't hurt :)

Had 2 BH today! Feels so odd, just uncomfortable, no pain or anything. But feels like bump doubles in size with it going all hard!

Morien · 16/01/2014 01:39

Artistic I've had B12 injections (couple of years ago). Didn't hurt.

Given up trying to sleep & am back downstairs Sad

pettyprudence · 16/01/2014 07:42

good morning! dont forget that if you are suffering with gums/teeth dental treatment is freee during pg and 12months after as something about pregnancy can make them worse??? one of my teeth suddenly went really sensitive on Tuesday but I haven't followed my own advice yet!

Julietee · 16/01/2014 07:55

Gah, I'm such an idiot. Spent 2 hours cooking last night, then left it out in pan overnight :( Baby brain or cold? I'll never know, and nor will I be able to eat my mince!

amhurst · 16/01/2014 08:15

Hello all - just logged on to this thread..My due date is feb 16..but already feel completely elephantine and wrecked..do I just sit on couches and slowly waddle around for another 4 weeks? V impressed with level of cooking, cleaning and with people not yet on maternity leave!

ch1134 · 16/01/2014 08:35

Morning,
My parents came around today and I chatted to them about nappy options amongst other things. Think I've come to a decision. Terry squares. My mum showed me how to fold them in various ways, and swore it was just as easy as disposables. Seems sensible to me to get Terry squares instead of an expensive new version of the same thing. You can still use disposable liners, can use these little fasteners called nappie nippers or something similar, and they cost so much less. For me this makes sense, as I was nervous about spending out for something I may not use. This way, if a childminder doesn't want to use them, or I find disposables easier when we're out or on holiday, I won't feel like I'm spending out twice.
I'll start in disposables anyway, as then I can buy just one set of waterproof wraps...
Happy with my decision!

marzipanned · 16/01/2014 08:44

Julietee I always leave food out overnight and never have a problem, but my kitchen isn't very warm.

Loves Yes to the hiccups - they went on for ages last night! She is still having quiet days and active days but the active days are very active. I do get the sense that she's awake for longer periods of time now.

Glad you came to a decision on cloth ch! I've filled out the nappy lady's questionnaire so am waiting to see what she recommends for me.

DawnOfTheDee · 16/01/2014 08:55

Welcome amhurst!

Julietee Tbh I'd still eat/freeze the food but then i'm a complete bit of slattern with questionable hygiene standard....Grin

EeyoreIsh · 16/01/2014 08:59

julietee I'd fridge it now and eat it. But my kitchen is v cold- no heating.

ch1134 · 16/01/2014 09:11

For those interested in reusable/ Terry nappies I've just done some research into cheapest way of starting with all new kit, whilst not comprimising on comfort. I'll be starting after newborn, and I'm sure you can get cheaper on ebay if you're happy with 2nd hand. But from terrynappies.co.uk or amazon I've got (in my wish list):

10 x Terry squares 60 x 60
6 x Bamboo Terries 50 x 50
1 x nappy bucket
2 x mesh laundry bags
300 x disposable liners
10 x bamboo booster liners
pack of 3 nappy nippas
6 x size 2 waterproof wraps

This comes to around £150. I'll order after babe is born and I've had some thinking time, but do think this is probably the way to go. Will stop going on about it now!

Middy75 · 16/01/2014 09:27

Good luck to all those having scans and appointments today, hopefully all be positive news. I've got my moxibustion appointment later, see if it can encourage this babe to turn head down, although I think she has got herself nice and comfy where she is Hmm

winterflowers · 16/01/2014 09:49

I just bought a set.of second hand totsbots nappies so hoping those will work for me. Anything other than terries are SO expensive from new!

I'd eat the food as well julietee just make sure you really blast it when you do reheat.to get rid of anything nasty that may have been growing.

I get her having hiccups as well loves it's such a funny feeling. As with marzi she has still.some quiet days where I worry and then she goes nuts for ages as if to reassure me all is fine in there. I have been starting to have.some twinges and pains in my bump tho I wonder if it n is just stretches as it is definitely growing more now.

EeyoreIsh · 16/01/2014 12:30

I love maternity leave, I've baked a cake and seen a friend I haven't seen for a year as we're both normally too busy working Smile

And the cake stayed in for an hour, which is the longest I've kept anything down since Saturday. Cake is clearly the cure for morning sickness Grin Grin it was chocolate cake, so will have lots of iron in it too, yes?!

EmmaFreudsGivingMeJip · 16/01/2014 15:49

Chocolate cake is most definitely one of your five a day.

glitterhoops · 16/01/2014 21:18

Does anyone feel as they can no longer walk properly?
I have terrible SPD anyway and have crutches, but more recently feel as though the baby is really so heavy I can hardly stand up straight- it's a heavy front pain- separate to the SPD. I'm 34 + 4 weeks

KalevalaForMePlease · 16/01/2014 21:34

Glitter don't despair just yet, I was so uncomfortable at that stage with my first, but around 37 weeks she changed position, and I was a lot more comfortable. SPD is awful, I had that too, so I sympathise. Thanks

Bought new hospital bag yesterday and some toiletries. Finally getting some organising done!
