cbjk is there a time limit on when you can have flu jab? Sorry if that's a daft question but I haven't had mine yet and now I'm worried I've missed the window.......

mimi74 · 11/01/2014 09:55

Thanks Redcliffe, wispaxmas, hackneybird I'm much less shattered since passed the 1st trimester. back then I was just a sleep monster. Not wanted to socialise or get out much but now slowly feeling I can re-integrate with the outside world. First week back at work after 2 week break has nearly finished me off mind.....

LadyGoneGaga · 11/01/2014 10:05

Vicky I think you can have flu jab whenever. I had mine not long before Christmas though and they were a bit sniffy. But flu season still here for another couple of months and you'd pass your immunity onto the baby so prob still worth having. Mind you i didn't bother when I was having DD because they didn't offer it to me until the March and she was born in july so it seemed a bit pointless.

Anyone know when you are meant to have the whooping cough one done?

Bumblebeesmum · 11/01/2014 10:21

Welcome Mimi

LadyG I think (not sure)whooping cough is an experiment (as in they don't know if it'll work) & also think it's at 28 week appt but not sure on that

Redcliff I can't wait to hear the outcome of the meeting!!

ohcluttergotme · 11/01/2014 10:23

I had flu jab on Tuesday and was told whooping cough at 28 weeks too

Redcliff · 11/01/2014 10:38

Cj - must be so hard to have a restless child when you so need the sleep yourself . I hope tonight is better for you.

Clutter - what a lovey brother you have. Perhaps you can take him up on his offer once the baby is here. I keep on getting colds and coughs so really do get where your coming from in not wanting anything worse.

Thanks so much for all your messages about the meeting - have really made me smile. I will make sure I update tonight. I do love this board and all you lovely ladies :)

ohcluttergotme · 11/01/2014 11:17

Intrigued redcliff to see how your meeting goes this afternoon, maybe should call in the lawyers!
Brother is lovely and so generous to pay for me, dh & 2 dc to go over. I'm not normally so precious and would normally jump at a week in the sun but feel anxious to be in strange country when my immune system is so low. Will suggest could we maybe come out in October instead

cjbk1 · 11/01/2014 11:21

Ok; so they said I could have the flu jab 'whenever' in pregnancy but I think it's the last chance for a long time in that Practice for whatever reason and yes they reiterated that I need the whooping cough jab around 28wks it was over in seconds and now I'm feeling nauseous but that's probably because aforementioned child was sick in the car and the smell it wasn't very pleasant lol Confused

Bumblebeesmum · 11/01/2014 11:34

Clutter I would love a week in the sun!! Not sure a few month old baby will enjoy the heat though? I was in Egypt at beginning of 1st pregnancy & mw said it was great as everyone so low on natural vitamin d here. But I was much earlier on so it would be harder now. But then we have only ever afforded 1 holiday in 5 years so I'd prob be tempted by a week in Afghanistan haha :)

Soooo exhausted. 19 month old had rash & fever of over 40 last night - we avoided having to take him to hospital after a Dr appt as his fever reduced slightly but we were still up a lot last night & from 4 this morning. Yuk!

ohcluttergotme · 11/01/2014 12:01

I am really torn bumble as they stay in kingdom compound which looks fab and would be great to have massive dose of vitamin d!
I'm just worried as I'll be 7 months and scared to pick up a nasty bug. Know my 2 dc would love to go though and spend time with their cousins Hmm

CleverOl10 · 11/01/2014 12:36

Are you allowed to fly at 7 months? I'm sure I read somewhere some airlines are funny in third trimester.

Mitchell2 · 11/01/2014 12:58

You can in theory fly up to 28 weeks for singletons without a drs cert. most airlines will allow you to fly up to 36/37 weeks if you have a doctors cert.

MarlenaGru · 11/01/2014 12:59

You need a fit to fly note but mostly no problem until 36 weeks I think. I am flying at 31 weeks (hopefully!)

BEEwitched · 11/01/2014 13:22

Looked at prams and the BJCM has a parent facing option! Don't know why it says it doesn't, but I think the non-adjustable handles and the tiny carrycot make it a no no.

Uppababy Vista seems like the best choice right now!

MarlenaGru · 11/01/2014 13:27

The uppavista seems good from reviews. Didn't exist when I had my DD!

Bumblebeesmum · 11/01/2014 13:38

I think (only think) you can fly to whenever doc says you can but airline reserve right to refuse you on board (as obv it's a risk to them) but not sure on that.

Could you go earlier at all? Half term is soon.... ?! :)

BEEwitched · 11/01/2014 15:09

I think I need to post in the pushchair topic once I'm home, they had a brilliant looking one in the sale but it's a discontinued model. Have to see how it compares...

I got the BJCM wrong - the carrycot is parent facing, for some reason I thought that was pointing forward as well!

SleepyNess · 11/01/2014 15:10

Hi ladies! Lovely weather here in London, managed a really long walk with lunch in between, it was great, feeling happy again! :)

I would do anything for a holiday in the sun! We had an invitation to Florida but not sure it's going ahead as in-laws decided to houses which is a shame as I really really crave sun and warmth. Might go with the baby next year :)

wispaxmas · 11/01/2014 15:48

All this talk of holidays has reminded me that I've been tentatively invited, along with baby, to go visit a cottage with my brother and sister and their spouses and 4 boys between the ages of 6 months and 3 years (and potentially my other brother and his 9 mon old daughter) I late July/August... So, if baby came on due date it would be 8weeks old (sorry at the least 6 weeks). Now, for the holiday itself I would obviously have plenty of help with baby, so that won't be any trouble, but I would be going without my husband as he would have to work. And it would involve a 7 hour flight.

I know the flight is doable and at that age the baby would be easier to travel with than if it was older and did more than eat sleep and poop, but am I completely crazy for wanting to do this? I so rarely get to see my family, and my sister is having her second little boy next month and otherwise I won't get to see him until Christmas 2015!

SleepyNess · 11/01/2014 16:40

Very random query: I have sorted out pre-pregnancy clothes and would to store them in the loft. I need to protect them from any mice or moths. Any suggestions? I did a quick google search but not sure what would work best... Any tips???

wispaxmas · 11/01/2014 16:47

We recently bought some plastic boxes with lids from tesco. They were called under bed storage boxes, but they stack well and I've used them for my clothes, shoes, and handbags that are out of season. Very handy and not overly expensive.

highlandfling10 · 11/01/2014 16:57

Hiya

Re the storage question we got vacuum bags from argos (easi-vac I think) can store loads in them and you suck all the air out with the hoover so makes them air/water tight and saves space too.

I had my 20 week scan on thursday - all looking fine. Didn't find out the sex this time keeping it as a surprise, baby wasn't very co-operative hands and feet all up covering its face when they were trying to do measurements!

Went back to pregnancy yoga today - have to say I really LOVED it!! Nearly fell asleep during the relaxation at the end. Grin

highlandfling10 · 11/01/2014 17:11

btw just a note for the ladies who mentioned the Uppa Baby Vista - thats the pram we have for my DD at the moment and its an excellent 3 in 1. Will just be adding a boogie board to it (DD will be 3 when new baby is born). Not had any problems with it Smile its so easy to handle when your out - great suspension and giant basket underneath (for the copious amounts of stuff a baby needs....) the sun shades are really handy too.

mylittlel · 11/01/2014 17:11

vacuum bags are good as well and can fit lots inside

SleepyNess · 11/01/2014 17:23

Thank you wispa! I suppose they were 32l ones?

I think I'll go the box route as they need to be mice/rat proof, just in case, and I've had issues with vacuum pack bags in the past (probably just my own incompetence though).
