Happy Christmas everyone!!!

Forgot to say, we coslept with DC1 from 5 months and with DC2 from birth. Planning to co-sleep with this one too, imo (backed up by lots of reading and research), it's at least as safe as having baby in a separate cot, if not more so, if you're breastfeeding and observe safe sleep guidelines.

Hiya. I'm new here. We're due on September 11th 2014. We've a history of miscarriages but hopefully this will be our first little baby. We're getting a scan in two weeks - when we're around the six week mark. I've been advised to take aspirin on a daily basis alongside folic acid. I'm taking the Pregnacare Duel vitamins. It's lovely to see all these September due dates. Take care ladies and speak soon.

Grin Punky

Hello and congrats Sidney :)

LanaStraightLeg · 05/01/2014 00:00

I'm assuming that this is Unicef's reply to the Daily Mail's "new study" - it's from May whereas the DM article is from August. It's a little dry but you get the gist.

This is a small study cited by Unicef which suggested that co-sleeping can prevent against SIDS in some circumstances.

I think one thing it's important to be aware of is that SIDS is incredibly low these days :) - in fact I think you're something like ten times more likely to have an orgasm during labour than to lose your baby to SIDS!

BexBoo12 · 05/01/2014 00:02

I'm sorry I've not been on, I've been crap with the support haven't i. Promise I will be better.

Licking my wounds a bit as we told DH's brother and his wife, and complete under reaction, with them both just smiling, saying they'd guessed and then changed the subject. I'm so stupidly upset about it, I've cried most of the night. Why can't people just be happy for us. Sad

I promise I will return tomorrow in a better frame of mind. For now, I'm going to bed and going to cling on to my imaginary bump for dear life and cry myself to sleep.

Goodnight everyone xxx

LanaStraightLeg · 05/01/2014 00:06

Oh Bex, I'm so sorry :(

I think some of my family might have guessed/be speculating and I'm stupidly upset about it. It just spoils it somehow!

We are happy for you, fwiw :)

PunkyPod · 05/01/2014 00:26

Can your DH guess why they might be reacting like this? Can't be as ridiculous as you guys not having a huge extravagant wedding, can it??? Big hugs Bex.

Hubbythecatandme · 05/01/2014 01:04

As ever, you can make studies say pretty much everything and its contrary. I will personally go with the dep for health + nhs recommendations! I have seen too many educational fads as a teacher to follow one myself bringing up my hopefully future baby!
Each to their own, as long as people have a choice I am happy!

Hubbythecatandme · 05/01/2014 01:06

Fair enough on Daily Mail being crap though lol!

Hubbythecatandme · 05/01/2014 01:07

I love the idea of slings and breastfeeding (will try) but bed sharing, big no no for us (baba will be in the room not in our bed, at least I think!!!)

Hubbythecatandme · 05/01/2014 01:09

Actually I don't love the idea of breastfeeding lol, I find me breastfeeding slightly disturbing and disgusting but I hope this changes when the LO is there because I would like to breastfeed (I will just have to not look and not go "ewww" lol... seriously by then I hope I am filled with oxytocin and think it's the most wonderful thing in the world... long way to go :s

PunkyPod · 05/01/2014 04:20

Midnight munchies. Already!!!Shock

noitsachicken · 05/01/2014 06:41

Morning everyone!

Sorry for being absent, I am finding it hard to keep up!

Sorry your family are being rubbish Bex maybe they are being cautious as its early days?

noitsachicken · 05/01/2014 06:43

Ha ha Punky what did you have?

noitsachicken · 05/01/2014 06:47

I have my first midwife appointment arranged for 3rd Feb, which seems like ages!
Those of you with DC already will you take them along to your appointments?
My DS is not in childcare or anything so always with me!

Metalhead · 05/01/2014 07:59

I don't think I can take my DD along to early appointments without telling her about the baby as she will pick up on it, and don't really want to tell her so early on. However im lucky in that she goes to nursery 3 days a week, and DH works from home so can look after her for half an hour or so if he has to.

Do you have any family or friends who could take your DS for a little while? You could always just tell them you need to see the doctor for something.

noitsachicken · 05/01/2014 08:07

I have a friend who is looking after him for the first appointment as that's a long one, but after that I think I will have to bring him or DH take the time off to look after him. Family all work, I'll see how we get on.

I am hoping he is to young to pick up on it yet.Haven't thought about when we will tell him, as late as we can I expect.

PunkyPod · 05/01/2014 09:04

I had a yoghurt and a couple of those breakfast biscuits. With DD DP would often find me downstairs having a night time yoghurt. We have stocked up! Need to be careful though because I need to fit in my wedding dress in 2 weeks!!

I won't be taking her to appointments. She goes to nursery 2 days and with my parents 2 days a week. Plus I work from home a lot so I can pop out without causing suspicion!

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 09:22

Hello! Can I join? BFP last night, makes me 4 weeks pg so due 11th Sept! Already got a 27 month old.

DearDinah · 05/01/2014 09:22

Is period pain normal this far in? I'm getting cramping in my lower back on & off all day, it's making me paranoid.

noitsachicken · 05/01/2014 09:38

Punky I have stocked up on Gingerbiscuits and peanuts! Will probably hate both this time!

Welcome and congrats twosa

broodylicious · 05/01/2014 10:00

Dinah, glad you asked that - paranoid me is thinking af is about to show up as I've got that horrible bloated, crampy tummy thing going on. I don't remember having this last time but guess I could have done!

noitsachicken · 05/01/2014 10:04

I think early pregnancy symptoms can be similar to PMS
