Ps ruggle - dizzy here too LOTs when I stand up too!!!!!

Feelingfatty · 21/12/2013 09:24

No not dizzy thankfully! Yes I'd ask the midwife! I don't see the midwife until 12 week scan which i thought was odd!!! Anyway spoke way to soon about sickness feel very sick now!!!

HalfPintPickle · 21/12/2013 09:28

Hello everyone :)

I'd like to jump on the bandwagon with you all.
I'm 29, upduffed with DC2 and am due 28th August :)
How exciting!

Feelingfatty, I don't get to see the midwife until the scan date either. My GP and nurse run through the booking in apparently?!

sharkey1187 · 21/12/2013 09:45

Horace - I've been getting lower tummy pains for the last 2 weeks. Mostly on the left but sometimes on the right, it's not constant and comes and goes maybe 4 or 5 times throughout the day.... G'S advice.. If pain gets worse or remains constant, particularly on one side a trip to A&E is worthwhile (only because it's Christmas etc and nowhere else is open). IME (I work in health care and have a little experience with obstetrics), tummy pain normally comes first, the shoulder tip pain is a referred pain. There may be a little bit of bleeding or spotting. Later symptoms include fainting etc but I'm certain earlier signs are persistent lower abdominal pain, obviously this can vary between each individual though. If worried at all, see GP, Out of hours, midwife if you have contact. Christmas makes things so much more difficult! I think any pregnancy books will cover ectopics and what you should look out for! HTH.

I started getting nauseous yesterday. But my main problem is the boobs! I've taken to wearing sports bras (but as long as I don't have to pull over my head) and they are just so comfy! I'm tempted to bubble wrap them to avoid any accidental trauma Wink

sharkey1187 · 21/12/2013 09:45

Oh btw Holly.. stats for me are 26yrs, DC#1

Feelingfatty · 21/12/2013 09:51

Half pint, I happened to go in with dh to see doctor (we have same one) and mentioned we had bfp on the Monday so he filled in a form which asked whether you were high risk (few questions) last period and that was it!!! Have to wait for 12 week scan date now and they do your forms then after scan! Wasn't like that with our dd!! Never mind! :)

HungryHorace · 21/12/2013 10:04

Thank you, Sharkey. :-)

I'm achey but certainly don't have persistent / bad pain on one side. It comes and goes, but did that last time.

And definitely no bleeding, so that's good.

I think I was just being a bit of a drama llama when the arm ache started. Now I'm out of the car I don't feel quite so bad.

Hi and congratulations to the new people!

Missvaughan85 · 21/12/2013 11:51

Hungry, I went to the doctors with the pain in my arm, he told me it's carpel tunnel, and a result of my job as a hairdresser. Still didn't believe him.
I've booked an early scan too. I'll be 8 1/2 weeks, just to reassure. Which will be nice in the new year. At least there should be a heart beat at that stage. But I'm still cautious!! Will be until after 12 week scan. I'm not talking much about it at the m

Missvaughan85 · 21/12/2013 11:51

Moment. As don't want to get my hopes up. X x

geekindisguise · 21/12/2013 13:11

Hello all! Got my bfp this morning cb 2-3 weeks! What do I do next? First time for me so have no clue! Not sure about due date as had a chemical pg the month before, so cycle was a bit strange.

Feelingfatty · 21/12/2013 13:35

Congrats geek! Phone your doctors surgery they'll advice you, each district has different booking in :)

talulahbelle · 21/12/2013 13:47

I'm stuck at the inlaws today. Horrible weather so I can't even escape for a walk. No chocolates/crisps/nibbles (FIL has to watch what he eats) and MIL keeps trying to make me cups of tea. Which I'm not drinking at the moment.
BORED.

mssleepyhead · 21/12/2013 14:32

Went to try and buy DH a book on pregnancy today for Christmas. Bad idea. Started flicking through them and they were all about miscarriage in the first few months. Coming home from Christmas shopping feeling very very blue now, like I'm just waiting for it to happen. These hormones are a nightmare...

dontsqueezetheteabag · 21/12/2013 14:50

Can I join?!?

Got my BFP on 30th November. I am 31 pg with dc#1 edd 7th august

Only a couple of our friends know and planning on telling the family on Xmas day. Don't want them to guess before we tell them!

Not had sickness, felt a bit yuck. VERY tired and soooo looking forward to finishing work on Tuesday for a fortnight

DuPanettoneDuVinDuFromage · 21/12/2013 15:08

I spoke too soon when I posted this morning - the morning sickness has arrived...not feeling too bad, just constantly yucky, but I'm sure it's going to get worse...but as someone (hungryhorace?) said upthread, it's actually nice in a way to have it!

HungryHorace · 21/12/2013 15:32

Oh, DuP, I feel the same. Not exactly nauseous, just persistently yucky with a weird soapy taste in my mouth.

I've had some 'plipping' sensations too...far too early for bean, so god knows what they are!

And yes, I said that MS is reassuringly awful!

Talulah, sorry you're trapped at your in laws. :-/

We are at our hotel, resting after out very early morning / long journey. Except DD who is talking to her cuddly mouse in her cot!

Mssleepyhead, please try not to worry. I know what you mean about the books. It's difficult as sadly miscarriage is a part of the minority of pregnancies, but no pregnant woman wants to read about what might happen really, I don't think.

I hope you cheer up soon. Remember, the odds are heavily stacked in the favour of a healthy pregnancy. xx

Hi to Dontsqueeze!

Ruggle · 21/12/2013 15:43

I think getting some info on miscarriage isn't a bad thing. When it happened to me I had no idea what to expect. I really wish there'd been some info in my "pregnancy pack". It's sadly so much more common than you might think.

HungryHorace · 21/12/2013 16:10

Approximately 25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage, so while it is common, it is still the minority of pregnancies.

And it's really not healthy to fixate on what awful things may happen.

And I can see that the information is of use to somebody going through a miscarriage, I still think that most pregnant women don't want to read about it, as it could potentially cause more anxiety.

Feelingfatty · 21/12/2013 16:17

25% figure is including chemical type pregnancies that happen before af even due. After that it's more like 1/6 so actually even less and becomes a lot less as weeks go by so try not to think about it

HungryHorace · 21/12/2013 16:39

I meant to include that, fatty...lost track of myself!

And exactly. Also, what will be will be, and while worrying is a natural part of pregnancy / parenthood, dwelling on maybes really isn't good for the sanity!

mssleepyhead · 21/12/2013 16:45

Thank you all. I'm usually so good at being rational and logical, but since getting that BFP my emotions have just completely overwhelmed me. I appreciate your reassurance though - I must focus on being positive! And you're right - odds of 75-80% for being ok really are quite good, even if that might make it harder if it goes wrong. Thank you everyone x

HungryHorace · 21/12/2013 17:26

That's pregnancy for you!

And I'm not saying I don't worry as I really do. I just try to tell myself the stats and hope for the best.

Pregnancy isn't always enjoyable (for me anyway) so I try not to make it any worse than I already find it if I can help it!

Be good to yourself. :-) xx

travispickles · 21/12/2013 17:41

Easy to say, I worried constantly last time although retrospectively I think I had antenatal depression. Quite common, so worth keeping an eye on feelings of anxiety. Forgotten how rubbish the MS is... Hungry, sick, eat, more sick.... Etc etc ad nauseum (literally!)

Mmolly2013 · 21/12/2013 18:18

Im 5+4 and apart from tiredness I don't have any other symtoms is this normal when roughly will they start thanks

mssleepyhead · 21/12/2013 18:24

molly from what I've read things really kick off around week 6. I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and today is my first day of sore boobs, so hoping I'm starting to gear up for next week : )
