Morning ladies. Off to the airport on my big tripGrin
Janey no AF here either!
Yep Alex it's all normal. She's placing her milk order, and is also not very efficient at feeding yet so will take ages. There is absolutely no need to give her a bottle. Try and sleep when you can and ask dh to burp, change and rock so as you can rest a bit.
Quod your baby is tiny and gorgeous!!!!!!!
See you on the other side GrinGrin

BraveLilBear · 15/12/2013 06:21

Bon voyage Lol!

Alex - yes 4 hours is pretty normal in the early days. Your DH sounds lovely so get him to do the burping and changing - and get him to keep bringing drinks and snacks.

No AF here either. Well, I had one 4 weeks after H was born (GP confirmed), but that was tiny and not had one since.

Think it's pretty standard when breastfeeding (evolutionary measure to ensure your baby has no competition). From what I've read, it usually returns after night feeds end.

Poor little H here - ended up in out of hours last night and now have some rehydration salts but given the extraordinary extent of his exorcist routine, he's not very dehydrated thank god.

Laat vomit was a shocker - he was lying on my chest face down... was like that scene out of Team America. That was at 11ish tho so hopefully the voms have stopped. Let the runs comnence!

Being a mum is sooo glam lol :)

MotherOfCleo · 15/12/2013 06:39

Afraid that sounds pretty normal alex. Plus she probably finds feeding comforting.

Re AF, Harvs is just over 5 weeks and for the past 2 days i've had bright red blood, only small amounts and no cramps.....not sure whats going on to be honest Confused

Alexandra6 · 15/12/2013 10:05

Thanks so much for the support, I'm really glad it's nothing too unusual! I found cluster feeding on my phone and wondered if it could be that - perhaps I need to encourage more feeds during the day?

By 3am I was exhausted and stressed (why do things always seems worse at night?!) - then finally she fell asleep, had a short feed at 6 and has been asleep since and so have I - yay!! Am going to take a pic of her to add to the million I already have Wink I did wonder if she was cold as the room was chilly in the night but she was wrapped up properly. I checked and it was 18 C which I'm sure is what they recommend as ideal but she just seemed a bit cool and I wondered if that's part of the reason she just wouldn't settle alone?

Sorry I must seem like I'm really moaning here! Thanks again for the advice, really helps when you're so unsure what you're doing and bloody tired!

Cavort · 15/12/2013 10:21

Alex cluster feeding info. I know we all keep harping on about it, but it really does get easier. You will look back at this time and laugh once you are feeling better. Smile

Janey my AF returned at 7 weeks postpartum and has been scarily regular ever since (although a bit heavier than normal and cycle has been 30/31 days rather than 28 days before pregnancy). I am currently mid-cycle and I noticed EWCM for the first time yesterday so things definitely do seem to be getting back to normal. I really must book in for getting that coil fitted but have been putting it off as i'm due a smear as well. I think not having AF while BFing is the norm though and I am just unlucky. Sad

Lol I am soooo jealous! Have a fab time with your family.

Brave I hope H is over the worst if it and feeling better soon. Poor little mite.

BraveLilBear · 15/12/2013 13:40

Cavort I got a coil fitted and smear done at the same time about 8 weeks ago. Was better than usual smear drama as there was a nurse to assist gp and therefore do a bit of handholding

BlearyeyedLol · 15/12/2013 14:01

So as far as I can understand janey and I are more evolved than cav as we have not had afGrinGrin?
Done the first flight and it was ok. Now waiting for the long one! Having a beer so as I can relax before I board!
Quod any names for your precious angel? She is gorgeous!!! Soooooo tiny x

Thunderpantsarego · 15/12/2013 16:50

Erm actually lol I reckon cav's more advanced in evolutionary terms because it's no longer necessary to have biological systems to prevent competition through further pregnancy.

Just sayin....

Grin Grin

Cavort · 15/12/2013 16:52

There will be no further pregnancy until I get some bloody sleep!!!

Purplemonster · 15/12/2013 17:03

Ok so seriously, how am I supposed to contain the little terror? Do I need a cage playpen? If you put her in the bouncy chair and turn your back she's upside down head first on the floor by the time you look back and if you put her on her play mat she rolls herself off. She's making some pretty determined efforts to crawl, I'm getting worried, how are you all restraining the little monkeys angels now they're so damn wriggly?

HazleNutt · 15/12/2013 18:07

we have a baby jail playpen

Cavort · 15/12/2013 22:26

Playpen here as well. Also stops the dog from licking her hands which is his new favourite pastime. Confused

OP posts:
Purplemonster · 15/12/2013 22:37

Right, off to look for a cage playpen then, although no idea where I'm supposed to out the bl

Purplemonster · 15/12/2013 22:38

Put the bloody thing in my too small house.

MotherOfCleo · 15/12/2013 23:06

I'm going to have the same issue purple! Confused Blush

MotherOfCleo · 15/12/2013 23:40

Well it's 5 weeks and 2 days after Harvey was born and we have finally dtd. Harvey woke up about 2 minutes afterwards so we timed it well Wink

Quodlibet · 15/12/2013 23:44

We spend an hour or more earlier trying to wake a sleepy baby who has been nodding off instantly every time she latched on all afternoon. Tried stripping her, blowing her, washing her, flicking feet etc, nothing. What worked eventually was skin-to-skin with DP, at which point she decided to wake up and go vigorously hunting through his chest hair for his nipples! Was v funny.

MotherOfCleo · 16/12/2013 04:50

Haha, bet that shocked him quod! Grin Grin Have you decided on a name? Or still unsure?

I'm up with a snuffly baby Sad poor wee lamb.

HazleNutt · 16/12/2013 06:55

We spent the whole day together yesterday, the baby ate as much as he wanted. So why was he up and feeding once per every. sodding. hour? Seriously. Last day at work before holidays, I have tons to do.

Alexandra6 · 16/12/2013 07:14

Sad hazle. I feel your pain, mine was cluster feeding non stop from 9.30 to 4pm?!? Finally we got two hours sleep but up again so she can have yet another snack and nappy change! Must be tough being tired when you have work as well.

Was just thinking we're so lucky to have a healthy little baby though and she is amazing.

lol hope the rest of the journey was good.

quod let me know how bf goes for you. Mine was hunting out DH's nipples yesterday too and very disappointed with the mouthful of hair she got!

HazleNutt · 16/12/2013 08:56

yes lucky they are so cute. Went to see PILs yesterday and Viki was charming everybody, laughing and giggling and generally being the most perfect baby. If he would just let me sleep a little..

In a way I'm glad to hear others with babies the same age are having the same issues - he slept fine until I went back to work, so I would totally think it's my own fault. But seems to be just a developmental thing.

janey1234 · 16/12/2013 09:17

Absolutely hazle, they're all being as bloody annoying challenging as each other at bedtime.

Spent yesterday with my brother and DSIL and niece and nephew. Of course the whole thing was wildly exciting to M and he barely ate all day, despite my attempts to ram milk down him. He was therefore up all night feeding. Damn him being so nosey!

MotherOfCleo · 16/12/2013 09:38

Harvey has a cold, so he cant sleep, feed or rest well, its going to be a long day. Sad Thankfully I have calpol, saline spray and olbas so hopefully dont have to venture out! No snuffle babe unfortunately but just put olbas on a bib on him, hope it helps.

HazleNutt · 16/12/2013 09:39

We're flying to Estonia tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to the flights. Viki is usually a good traveller, but sometimes babies cry and there always has to be someone with a cats-bum mouth giving me the evils. Yes, I know it's annoying, I do what I can anyway.
Do they really think it's helping? It's not like I'm letting a toddler to kick your seat or throw food, it's a small baby that cries - if you have a magical solution how to stop it, I'm sure all parents in the world would be interested to know.

HazleNutt · 16/12/2013 09:42

mother you might want to go out anyway, cold air helps to clear their little stuffy noses. Just wrap him up warm.
