You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

Morning.

Is it wrong that I have an obsession with my midwife? I couldn't sleep last night because I was so frikkin excited she was coming for another home visit!! She stayed for ages to chat and I didn't want her to leave! And I'm bummed that I now have to wait another 3 weeks until I'm 34 weeks to see her again, although she did say she would personally give me a tour of the mlu at the appt after that which I thought was sweet. I want her to be my friend!

So apart from my unrequited love all was good and growth bang on. Yay.

Littleen · 01/12/2013 13:51

shrops do you have a secret crush on your midwife? :D

marzi don't worry about it! Last christmas eve I was cooking both Norwegian and English christmas dinner/lunch and got so stressed out from stuff going wrong that I just sat on a chair and cried for a while! No hormones or anything :P

rueyrichardson · 01/12/2013 14:31

In my experience having a midwife who you can really properly talk to is a rarity so I'm a bit jel, Shrops. I haven't seen the same one twice this time apart from one quite miserable one (the one at the docs, Somany will know her!). When I had DS though the midwife who assisted in my labour I had a immediate connection with, she was brilliant and an otherwise difficult time was made warm and positive, just by me liking her. So good for you! Hope you get your new mate when you're in labour.

Grr! Found a baby monitor we wanted, half price and mothercare had sold out, so they said they would order it in, to find that it is completely out of stock...

Then, tried to get the Moses basket mattress which was originally from mothercare and they no longer do the size, neither do m&p...

So a bit of an unsuccessful shopping trip!

Although we did get the shelves from ikea we wanted (but in the slightly wrong colour, birch instead of oak) but no mulled wine :-(

Somanychanges · 01/12/2013 16:52

notone glad all was ok with baby.

I have just had a look at baby monitors and cannot believe how expensive they are Shock

We had the BT one for both DD and DS. But I managed to loose the dock. It was pretty similar to the current one I think but not digital. I don't remember it being so expensive though. I think I may have to borrow one off someone as I really don't think I will be spending £50 on one. Some of them are over £100 I think that's a bit extreme.

EeyoreIsh · 01/12/2013 16:54

cubano we bought a birch poang rather than oak, but then I did leave hungover DH to get that. lesson learned!

I'm so pleased, we managed to get our uppababy vista at kiddicare with 10% off as it was ex display. We couldn't see anything wrong with it all. We had filled the car up at ikea as we hadn't planned to buy a pushchair there and then, so we had to put it in the car all seperated out. It was like a giant jigsaw!

suddenly I feel much more ready for baby to arrive. Thanks to my amazing sis I have pretty much everything I need, and we've got a carseat coming tmw. I still don't have a few basics like blankets, sheets etc, but hey, I can get them another time!

I do have an empty bank balance though Sad

camwombat · 01/12/2013 18:36

It was clearly an Ikea day, I left DH & DS in car and dashed into the Gateshead one to buy a new lamp, sheet and some mulled wine. I was out of car and back into it within 25 mins.

The poangs are fab, we have the adult and kiddie ones. I used the adult one as a feeding chair and now its a reading chair in his room. The kiddie one is his tv chair.

EeyoreIsh · 01/12/2013 18:59

We love poang too, it's our third one Grin

CubanoHabana · 01/12/2013 19:05

cam I went to Gateshead one too! but because hubby came with me, he wouldn't stop for the mulled wine though as there were too many people.

We also got the poang last time we went for a nursing chair.

Ooooh you ladies are making me want an ikea trip!

Thanks for all the drink suggestions too champagne! Will definitely try and get hold of some of them Grin

notoneforselfies · 02/12/2013 00:43

Thanks for all the well wishes folks Smile Hope you all had lovely weekends.

He was very quiet again today but I've felt some stronger movements again this evening which has made me happy.

Had such a busy few days running around that I feel like I've pulled or strained the muscles just above my pelvic bone at the bottom of my bump. Painless when immobile, but when I try and move - Ouch! So have bought a bump support belt and will attempt to stay still for a few days now to ward off any further deterioration...

Our tour of the hospital was great though: the mlu is amazing! It only opened in September so is all spanking new. There are 2 big rooms with pools and 2 little rooms. The big rooms have little fake candles all round the pool, fairy lights, colour changing mood lighting, bean bags, a sofa and birthing ball, double bed: it's like a bloody spa! Can't believe you can get that on the NHS... Just praying now that all goes smoothly, I don't have GD (GTT on weds) etc and I get to go there! Even on central delivery suite though everything was so quiet and calm. No rushing about, no screaming or mooing women. Was all quite reassuring!

Finished up today with a lovely meal at a friends house - this is the latest I've stayed up all pg as I'm normally passed out by 9.30pm. Hoping this means I sleep through tonight, with the exception of a few loo trips naturally. We'll see...

N'night y'all.

EeyoreIsh · 02/12/2013 02:23

wide awake with bloody rib pains Sad made the mistake of taking paracetomal which hasn't touched it, so now I can't take co-codomal until that's worn off.

barebranches · 02/12/2013 04:34

sick of being awake all night and exhausted all day. Sad
No position is comfortable.

Thingymajigs · 02/12/2013 06:12

No sleep here either. I've always had sleel issues but pregnancy makes it much worse. Baby was booting me all night and restless legs didn't help either.
Pre-pregnancy I normally sleep on my front so I was just fantasising about being able to roll on to my tummy and spread out.
Did you manage to get any sleep in the end eeyore and bare?

barebranches · 02/12/2013 06:38

i moved to the sofa because i was keeping Dh awake and nodded of about 5 ...i think... alarm just went off. Angry

Sofa was more comfy because i had something to lean against.
Gonna be in a nice mood today!

Thingymajigs · 02/12/2013 06:47

I remember spending the last week or two of previous pregnancies sleeping on the sofa in various weird positions in an attempt to get some sleep. It definitely helps to be a bit more upright.
I'm considering buying one of those huge pregnancy pillows. Anyone have one they can recommend?

Wow lots of pillows for everyone - I have 3 under my head so I can be a bit upright yet still on my back, and one under my bump. A friend suggested one under her legs too but I thought 5 was over kill. Obviously I need at least 6 to be an average preggo :) Last time I did have a boomerang shaped pillow which was amazing - under my bump in bed and then used as a nursing pillow to bring baby up to my boobs. I really need to get another one.

I woke up at 6am as DH was getting up and is the biggest faffer when getting ready. I mean, how loud can it be possible to put on a pair of socks? And then he put socks on again because he'd forgotten he already had a pair on. I feel like I already have 2 children!

To be honest I'm usually up at 5.30am on a Monday just to get to work for 8am but today I'm using up a random days holiday to go Xmas shopping, whilst leaving DD with the childminder :) Can't wait. I didn't want to venture into Manchester on a weekend due to the crowds but hopefully today will be reasonable - then whatever I haven't bought will have to be done online as I'll be too preggo. I have to remind myself to buy small gifts so it's not too heavy for me to carry.

DD slept in her new bigger bedroom last night, she looked so small in her full size single bed! I've managed to buy a pretty deep mattress and was worried she'd fall out of bed but no, she slept perfectly all night. So lovely to have her room finally finished and she loves it. Now I have to think about 'the boy' as we call him and sorting out his nursery!

Here's to a good week everyone xx Xmas Smile

EeyoreIsh · 02/12/2013 07:50

I got up and walked around, then settled back to bed but sitting upright to watch several episodes of masterchef! Finally dozed off again before 5, so I had an extra 90 minutes.

I've found with my ribs that no position is comfortable for very long, so I just need to regularly change.

Not sure how I'll function at work today, fortunately I'd already planned to work from home.

notoneforselfies · 02/12/2013 07:51

Thingy - I adore my theraline pillow and won't be parted from it! Tried a dream genii too but didn't get along with it as it was too small and thin for me to be effective unfortunately.

Littleen · 02/12/2013 08:00

I have this one, which is really nice and adjustable! Can put it however I want, move the filling to where I want and use it as a BF'ing pillow once baby comes :) Not happy with this turquoise colour though, so would recommend getting one of the others - plenty of choice there.

www.amazon.co.uk/Original-THERALINE-incl-cover-turquoise/dp/B005C8ELB4/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1385970895&sr=8-5&keywords=pregnancy+pillow

littlepanda Grin lol at him putting on two pairs of socks! well done!

My other half has woken me up 4 (!) nights in a row for dtd, which I am more than happy about - our libidos are very out of sync so I take what I can get ;P But it does disturb my sleep, and then babyface wakes up at 7 every morning and wont let me go back to sleep! 7 is pretty early for me when not working - I don't fall aleep until 2 am. For the last week though, I've slept nearly painlessly (knock on wood)- so I feel quite rested :D Wish you all a random painfree week soon!

notoneforselfies · 02/12/2013 08:33

Yep that's the one I've got Litleen. I'm evangelical about it Grin

LovesToBake · 02/12/2013 09:32

notone that's exactly what I'm like about my breastfeeding pillow. I sound as if I've got shares in the company or something but it was a life changer for me - if anyone is looking at getting one, check out 'My Brest Friend'. I only wish I had it from Day 1 with DS - I succumbed about 4 weeks in once we'd got to the bottom of our bf discomfort (a severe tongue tie that was never checked at birth, which we later had snipped) and it made the world of difference for me. Meant I could bring the baby up to the right height for my boobs without hunching over and getting really tense through my neck/shoulder/back (especially as he got heavier) and in time, it meant I could be totally hands-free which was great for longer feeds so I could read/play on MN/drink a cup of tea or whatever.

On the sleeping front, I think I'm quite lucky - I generally sleep through aside from two loo trips in the night. I sleep with 2 pillows under my head and a v-shaped pillow sort of under my bump and between my knees (sleep on my left hand side).
