Thought I'd get us started Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Stacks · 26/11/2013 15:30

I'm doing so badly keeping up on the thread. 9+2 today and still feeling exhausted. Doesn't help that DS has decided morning is any time after 5am. I'm going to bed by 9/10 most nights, but it's just not enough!

I've missed everything on this thread so far, and a fit bit on the last thread. Will go back and read now, but hope everyone is ok and scans have been going well.

LadyGoneGaga · 26/11/2013 15:39

Beewitched the NICE guidelines state that EDD should be calculated in a dating scan between 10 and 13 weeks I think? From what I've read babies grow in a fairly uniform fashion until about 14 weeks and after that genetic factors such as tallness or gender or mothers diet kick in and you start to get a lot of variation. In other words, the later on you are in pregnancy the less size and EDD correlate. So it's really weird that your trust are using the 20 week scan to date. Are you confident in your dates?

BEEwitched · 26/11/2013 15:46

I was quite confident but the little bugger now dates almost a week ahead! Last Thursday I should've been 12+3 according to my positive opk/conception and 13 wks according to my booking appt. when baby measured 9 weeks, yet we got 13+3!

maternity notes definitely state 'current evidence suggests the most accurate date is best calculated between 19-22 weeks'.

typhoonsmum · 26/11/2013 17:13

Getting hard to keep track of all this different threads

carrie105 · 26/11/2013 17:23

The top of my back and shoulder area is 'clicking' dreadfully every time I move, and has been for about a week now. It is so bad that other people can hear it quite loudly when it happens!
Is it pregnancy related? Its possible Im sitting with worse posture than usual at my desk because of tiredness, maybe that is what is causing it.

GinandStripes · 26/11/2013 17:45

I have completely wasted today.

Oh 13 weeks why are you so far away?

11 +1 today!

CleverOl10 · 26/11/2013 17:46

Another sicky day Sad Have lost 3 pounds in the last two weeks. Not sure this is good!

Sorry to hear about ig's loss. Making me super nervous for my scan next Tues as I haven't had any yet.

MarlenaGru · 26/11/2013 17:47

Argh. There is a fire at London bridge station so no trains home. Have had to walk an extra 15 minutes to hopefully get a blackfriars train which will no doubt be packed

Vickyvix · 26/11/2013 17:47

Bee my notes say exactly the same and the midwife discussed it with me at booking in appointment. My NHS trust basically say they date it at 12 week scan but then date it again between 19-22 weeks And the midwife said it is the final date that they rely on for EDD.

I queried it at the time but she was adamant that's how they do things.

Do far I'm dating as per my calculations based on when I ov'd/DTD/ had implantation bleed etc do I'll wait and see what 12 week scan says and then wait and see what 20 week scan says. I figure there's only a problem if they are vastly different

wispaxmas · 26/11/2013 17:48

carrie, I get that if I've put too much strain on my shoulders. Then when I try to roll them it goes snap snap click click pop. Sounds horrible. My thought would be posture related, really.

MyNameIsWinkly · 26/11/2013 17:51

carrie mine is doing the same thing. I don't know why.

I keep forgetting how easily I tire at the moment. Getting out of bed to an alarm is tricky, then I had to go to bed for a nap after Christmas shopping for 2 hours. Pathetic, and that was with stopping for a drink. 3 early shifts coming up, with a 5.45 alarm, are going to be the death of me. Roll on the 2nd trimester surge of energy.

cheesysmile · 26/11/2013 18:03

Oh igwilk so so sorry Flowers I hope you have lots of love and support at home to help you through.

I started telling lots more people today and it really makes it feel real, especially when I think after Xmas I'll have less than 5 months at work. Times just going to start going really fast. I'm 12+5 today with new EDD, does that mean 2nd trimester starts Thursday for me then?

I'm still feeling uber tired with cold like symptoms, looking forward to this energy boost people talk of!

Sussex31 · 26/11/2013 18:18

11 weeks tomorrow and still no scan date. How long should I leave it before phoning to follow up? I need to give work fair notice!

BEEwitched · 26/11/2013 18:21

I've been on my feet since this morning, not used to it anymore and so ooo knackered.

BP was better and we listened to baby's heartbeat, always gives me a giggle (and then I get told of four jiggling the sound/picture away).

HannahC1989 · 26/11/2013 18:24

Sorry to hear igwilk. Sending my love and thinking of you xx

HannahC1989 · 26/11/2013 18:26

Talking about counting down till time off cheesy... when will people be starting maternity leave? (Early days i know) my boss has already quizzed me? Xx

superlambanana · 26/11/2013 18:33

End of May probably for ml.

Sussex I'd definitely follow this up! Keep ringing them!

Clever me too. I don't know how you're doing it - there's no way I could teach while feeling like this! I have respect for you!!

BEEwitched · 26/11/2013 18:52

I'm planning on being off from the beginning of April - our leave year ticks over then so I'll take a few weeks leave going straight on to maternity leave.

SicknSpan · 26/11/2013 19:03

Start of May for me- due 30/5 and will have lots of leave to use up or I'll lose it, so mat leave will officially start at the end of the month ish.

MyNameIsWinkly · 26/11/2013 19:06

I'm not due until 29/6, so I'm hoping to stick it out at work until 15/6 or thereabouts.

BEEwitched · 26/11/2013 19:09

I tend to go a bit after what is usual back home and 6 weeks before EDD is normal there so that's my rough guide.

Miranda79 · 26/11/2013 19:14

Hi everyone! Just joining in - had an early dating scan today and apparently I'm 9+1! A little further along than I thought, but very exciting. Lots of people seem much more organised than I am - we're just getting to grips with the idea of a baby!

Bezzabelle · 26/11/2013 19:26

Due 31/05, will have c section week before that and ml start of may to spend some time with ds before baby comes

CleverOl10 · 26/11/2013 20:08

I made it to 37 weeks at work last time - was planning on staying til 38 weeks but had high bp so caved - luckily as I actually gave birth at 38 weeks! Worked out that my waters would have broken while teaching Year 11 - dodged a bullet there!!

This time I'm hoping for similar timings, will start mat leave at summer half term which is usually the last week of May so I guess will stand down at 37 weeks again all going well as am currently due 11/6.

HannahC1989 · 26/11/2013 20:09

Yeh i wanted to leave it aslong as i could but i also have a 4 year old (who was 8 days late) and quite an active job so i dont know whats best. Im due 14th (find out for sure on thurs) do you think end of may will be pushing it too much? Xx
