Angelina77 · 26/11/2013 10:00

Sorry for your loss igwilk Thanks

panicmechanic · 26/11/2013 10:00

Oops until I have told work. I guessed the fluttering was wind and not baby but its in a very odd position - oh well

panicmechanic · 26/11/2013 10:02

So sorry igwilk, hope you are ok

Angelina77 · 26/11/2013 10:03

My 12 wk scan is not until 12/12 and I'm so tempted to have a private dating scan (they do dating scans from 10 wks so I could have it this Thursday).

I paid for an early scan at 7 wks (2 MCs) so it would be even more of an extravagance. Anyone else in the same boat?

SicknSpan · 26/11/2013 10:10

lgwilk so sorry to hear that. Thoughts with you Thanks

Cherryjellybean · 26/11/2013 10:26

igwilk so sorry for your loss Thanks

jaykay987 · 26/11/2013 10:29

Angelina - we had an early scan and are getting a ten week scan. I am desperate to see whether bean is ok still, so I understand how difficult it is to wait.

Not sure if we would have done it, as like you say it is an extravagance, but we get the scan as part of the Harmony package (which is another extravagance) so I guess if you can afford it, and want it - I say do whatever makes you happy!

wispaxmas · 26/11/2013 10:42

Igwilk, lots of love and happy thoughts for future pregnancy Thanks

Angelina, I had an early scan at 8 weeks, then my NHS scan was booked in for 11+2, so wasn't much point to have one in the middle. If you've had MCs before, though, I can understand wanting to double check it's all ok in there.

AFM, today is the first day in about 10 days that I've worn my non-mat trousers.. I've been wearing the 2 pairs I bought online when back in the UK or tight and dresses every day... and it's official, they're uncomfortable. I'm a bit worried that I'm actually gaining fat I don't need (bmi is already 28.5!), though I suppose I can take small comfort in knowing that at 12+6 the uterus is no longer hidden below the pelvic bone.. sigh

Angelina I will have my scan next week. but I'm so impatient and wondering if everything is okay as I don't have many symptoms. I checked how much it would cost to have a scan this week but I can't really justify £100.

just had my flu jab. did anyone get side effects?

LadyGoneGaga · 26/11/2013 10:47

Igwilk I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. Take good care, I hope sorting the molar out is as straightforward as it could possibly be. Thanks

LadyGoneGaga · 26/11/2013 10:56

Angelina I still don't have a scan date! I'm now 9+5. My booking appointment is down at the hospital on Saturday though so hoping that they will give it to me then. We also had a private scan at 7 weeks due to mc but I can't really justify another one at this point. Worst case they have to have it done by Christmas to get the nuchal measurements in so I will wait

Anyone else stuck on certain foods. I can't stop eating bacon sandwiches. I know they are nice normally but they literally taste like manna from heaven right now. If past form is anything to go on for me this means I'm carrying a boy. I was obsessed with scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pork pies when I was having DS! I'm doing pulled pork for tea also!

I managed to do my normal jeans up this morning but it was a bit of a squeeze and not sure how much longer they'll last but I want to hold off on the mat clothes just yet. Three pregnancies in and they have definitely lost their novelty for me! I dug out my old mat bras and none of them fit just yet so the girls have got a way to go. Some of those nursing bras fit on my head which is hilarious as normally I'm only a handful type girl.

wispaxmas · 26/11/2013 11:03

Liquid, the flu shot won't cause anything other than a sore arm normally, though some people are allergic to it - but then the reaction is usually quite severe, like epi pen severe. Any cold or flu like symptoms would be because you've caught a bug and not from the jab..

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 26/11/2013 11:13

Liquid the advice on the Govt site about flu jabs says this "Will I get any side effects?
There are some fairly common but mild side effects.
Some people get a slight temperature and aching
muscles for a couple of days afterwards, and your arm
may feel a bit sore where you were injected. Any other
reactions are very rare. Children having the nasal vaccine
may get a headache, a runny or blocked nose, and may
experience general tiredness and some loss of appetite.

I'm having mine next week and taking DD for hers as well but hers is just a nasal spray - would prefer that!

MinaLeeds · 26/11/2013 11:14

igwilk so sorry to hear about your loss. Sad

I just had a complete mummy mush brain moment. Teaching a seminar at uni with a group of third years, managed to tell them the exact opposite of how to answer the question set to them. Then showed them the powerpoint slide of the solution and one of them pointed out that it was the exact opposite of what I'd told them to do. I feel like such an idiot. I kind of lost control of the group a bit at that point and the seminar went downhill from there. So upset. I looked like a complete incompetent the first time I'm left to do solo teaching in a new job. This has never happened before! Sad

MinaLeeds · 26/11/2013 11:15

Worst thing is I have to do the same seminar again this afternoon with a new group of students and now my confidence is so shaken that I just know I'm going to screw it up too! Sad

LadyGoneGaga · 26/11/2013 11:18

Oh Mina Sad. Happens to everyone some time or other. Best way is to laugh it off and make a joke but please don't let it shake you. You won't make the same mistake again I bet.

NessieMcFessie · 26/11/2013 12:06

Igwilk - so sorry for your loss.

NessieMcFessie · 26/11/2013 12:09

Well....it took me a while to find the new thread! I have been MIA for a wee while - I hope I haven't missed too much? I hope all is going well?

Finally got over the awful bug - had to do a visa trip in and out of the country.....parents evenings, report cards etc etc - it all got a bit too much! But settled down now. Feeling a little more relaxed. Tomorrow is my birthday so I am off out with the girls tonight to celebrate - no doubt there will be questions about no alcohol.

I am meeting my boss tomorrow to tell him too - and to beg for a part time contract next year. I only get 12 weeks maternity here - it is going to be hard!

Love your dog wispa!

Vickyvix · 26/11/2013 12:24

Oh mina at least you are prepared for this afternoons session now, look at the funny side and focus on doing well this afternoon.

angelina I know how you feel. My 12 week scan isn't for another 2 weeks. I had a private 6 week reassurance scan and then had to have a 9 week emergency NHS scan because of bleeding and all was ok. That was a week ago so a 3 week gap until the 12 week scan. I too have very few symptoms i.e. no sickness so am pretty anxious to check baby is ok. I am very close to booking a private scan this Friday or Monday which is 10+3 or 10+6 which will break up the wait for the 12 week scan.

It's a bit extravagant but I hate not knowing and really worry if baby is ok.

I agree with jaykay if you can afford it and it will put you at ease then do it.

My justification is that I have saved well over £100 on alcohol and cheese over the last 8 weeks or so!

MarlenaGru · 26/11/2013 12:31

Where did you end up nessie?

I am another who had a scan at 7 weeks which turned out to be six weeks and have 2 more weeks til my scan at 11+3
Dh tried to book another scan for this week as I am quite worried at being a week behind at the last one despite a reassuring doctor! I feel pregnant but still donmt believe it. Really is such an emotional investment that I can't bare the thought of anything being wrong.

NessieMcFessie · 26/11/2013 12:37

Turkey - so it could have been worse!

Marlena I am exactly the same as you - I was put back a week....I am still worried about it but the doctor isn't.....still it is hard to not think about it.

BEEwitched · 26/11/2013 12:39

Igwilk, so sorry to hear about your loss - I hope the further check-ups and treatments go well for you.

Mina, I was just coming on here to ask whether anyone had experienced serious pregnancy brain yet - I just spent ten minutes wandering the ikea car park trying to find my car. I had myself halfway convinced it had been stolen when I finally spotted it.

superlambanana · 26/11/2013 13:16

Don't worry, Mina - I often found that students don't mind the odd mistake like that as it makes you seem more human! Everyone does it at some point so try not to stress too much. Good luck for this afternoon - I'm sure you'll be fine.

Lying on sofa feeling sorry for myself again as can't keep anything down. It was a really bad idea to go to work yesterday as now I feel worse than I have done in a while!!

BEEwitched · 26/11/2013 15:27

Sitting outside GP practice waiting for midwife appointment. Kinda nervous, I hope my bp behaves.

Just seen it says in my notes that EDD is calculated between 19-22 weeks as that is considered most accurate. Is that just my NHS trust?
