Twinsssss :)

Riblet · 03/12/2013 16:11

Haha, thanks MTMD - maybe next time for you then eh?! Wink I'd love it if twins were easier than one, although never having had one I doubt I'll really know the difference!

BEEwitched · 03/12/2013 16:34

Riblet, welcome and double congratulations!!!

hackneybird · 03/12/2013 17:07

riblet welcome, and that is just lovely.

I have heard from mums of twins I know that it is hard in the very early years, but once they get to toddlerhood and beyond it is suddenly much easier than a singleton, as they are ready made playmates for each other, instead of YOU having to be the playmate all the time.

And I suppose it takes the pressure off of having to decide whether you are going to have another.....it took me three years to be brave enough to take the plunge a second time!

wispaxmas · 03/12/2013 17:14

nosey, completely pointless, but we have the same birthday Grin

Aww, riblet, congratulations! I secretly hoped for twins, but just a singleton here. I don't think we have any other confirmed multiples, but there are plenty of 12 wk scans yet to come! Anything could happen!

Wispa, you have probably made several of the ladies still waiting for their scans really nervous! Grin

superlambanana · 03/12/2013 17:39

I've actually said to DH that I'd love twins (partly because I we only want two children and then I'd only have to go through pregnancy once!). I am secretly hoping..!!!

MarlenaGru · 03/12/2013 17:42

Thanks pickly

Congratulations to cheesy and double to riblet
Had an awful dream last night so was awake from 3 and have no idea how I survived work. I canmt wait to feel less tired and therefore more productive!

SarahAnderson · 03/12/2013 18:32

Anyone else crazy for citrus fruit? I cannot get enough. Apples, pears, mandarins...

Bumblebeesmum · 03/12/2013 18:43

Riblet a lot of things are genetics & a lot are luck. A friend of mine had dream babies (slept loads cried rarely etc) & when they had no 3 that turned out to be number 3 & 4...they got another 2 dream babies that slept through.

Some will get babies that have colic or problems etc & some will be up every half hour & feel dead after a few weeks.

It's all luck of the draw but don't let people scare you in to thinking it will necessarily be twice as hard....

That said - going out is hard as carrying baby seats in are bloomin heavy & it's not like you can go in & leave one etc. lady at my baby group has twins & texts for assistance when she arrives - where there's a will there's a way!

I'm still feeling absolutely horrendous & am pretty much living in bed at the moment - hoping it has to pass soon!!

MarlenaGru · 03/12/2013 19:12

My DD was a non sleeper and it was hell but I have friends with twins who got loads more sleep than us. It is total luck. Also never make the mistake of thinking your second will be the same as the first! A few friends who gloated with dream first babies had a stiff dose of reality with their seconds!

Mitchell2 · 03/12/2013 19:17

Hello to the newcomers, and very jealous of twins! Sorry to hear those who are feeling crap still.

Preggo rage today big time. If one more person tells me that 'I'm going to change' and become some earth mother I am going to scream. I am having a child not a bloody lobotomy. Yes my priorities are going to change, as would anyone who had a major life changing event but I'm still the same person. At least i don't have people talking to me and just looking at the bump... I feel for the poor soul who does that first.... Angry.

Redcliff · 03/12/2013 19:19

I am loving fruit at the moment - apples are a clear favourite at the mo which is most unlike me.

noseymcposey · 03/12/2013 19:24

Am very impressed WifeOfGuru with you doing an exam 10 days after baby's arrival ! I was ok when I thought I might have a week between exam and due date but with revised EDD it's bit to close for comfort. If I defer, I restart the course October 2014 so that is an option as we're not that far into it. It's a 3 hour exam as well.. not sure I could stay awake for 3 hours with a very newborn!!

I do hope that second babies aren't like first! DS (2.7) is easy peasy now but was very 'high needs' as a baby. I.e. permanently attached and wanted to feed for what felt like 23 out of every 24 hours and was still waking every 3 hours at 1 yo when I was back at work. It's been worth it though as since turning 1 he's been very low maintenance. But a better sleeper would be very welcome! Judging by pregnancy though, this one is giving me far more trouble than DS did!

Feel your pain Mitchell! I remember getting very very bored of talking about pregnancy/babies as especially once I started to show it was all anyone wanted to talk to me about and I remember thinking I AM NOT JUST AN INCUBATOR!

MTMD · 03/12/2013 19:32

Sarah, I'm eating raw cranberries... O_o

CleverOl10 · 03/12/2013 19:50

Lots of grapes here!

Eugh tell you what a pregnant woman doesn't need. Toddler vomit down the cleavage. Sad

AuntPittypat · 03/12/2013 20:10

Ew, Clever! And a bigger cleavage means more places for it to get stuck!

Welcome Riblet, and wow, what a way to make an entrance! Lovely news! I'm another one who secretly would have been thrilled with twins too.

And now that I've told work and some friends/family my news, could someone please add me to the Facebook group? I was too paranoid to join until I'd started to tell people in case there's someone I know on there! I can't remember who I need to pm...

WifeofGru · 03/12/2013 20:30

mitchell totally agree. I find other female work colleagues the worst for this... I think it often stems from a bit of competitiveness mixed with some well meaning advice.
Speaking of which, is it bad that I secretly can't wait for someone to ask if this is my first so they can dole out baby advice and then I can smile sweetly and say, 'no, my third'
That's bad isn't it?!?

Vickyvix · 03/12/2013 20:38

Oh pickly I'm so sorry to hear your news. Look after Each other and very best of luck for the future Thanks

Vickyvix · 03/12/2013 20:40

clever congrats on your scan

Welcome riblet twins is fab news!!!

I'm totally on to the fruit thing, can't stop eating bananas, pineapple and oranges - in fact I've gone off quite a lot of food (all the stoggy beige food no longer appeals) but the fruit is so tasty!

ohcluttergotme · 03/12/2013 20:41

Pickly so so sorry for your loss, it sounds heartbreaking.

Welcome riblet and what fab news. I have twin nieces who are now 20 and I always remember they amused each other when they were little and would sit and play for ages without the need for anyone else. Think the very early days will be intense but then hopefully you will get the rewards of 2.
Smile

Liquidambar · 03/12/2013 20:47

So sorry Pickly Flowers

Glad to hear about the other scans and the twins :)

My scan is Thursday morning and starting to feel anxious about it... But just one more day at work (and what a day!).

Back from my lovely weekend in Dubai, but glad to be home. DS stayed home with my mum, granny and aunty and apparently was a little star! Grin Shock (he's very demanding with us)

CarrotCakeMuffins · 03/12/2013 21:18

So sorry to hear your news Pickly, look after yourself & allow yourself time to recover. Sending you Thanks.

I have an Appointment in the obstetrics clinic tomorrow with 'a consultant or senior midwife'. I think it's because I has a c section last time, but I have no idea what to expect.

Best wishes for any scans tomorrow.

MinaLeeds · 03/12/2013 22:13

My scan is now 36 hours away. So nervous! Excited...but nervous.
