Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Liquidambar · 02/12/2013 13:10

Hi ladies.

I'm away with Dh and didn't have the chance to catch up properly. glad to hear about all the positive scans.

My bump is definitely bigger this time (I was hoping the airline would upgrade me for business but they didn't notice my bump at all)

Flying back home tomorrow and my scan is on Thursday morning.

I've been feeling some "pressure"/titnings on my uterus. I'm not s ure whether it's because it's expanding or it's the first Bh caused by a lot of walking. But it seems to early for the BH.

ada thinking of you.

Welcome twins Smile

MTMD · 02/12/2013 14:49

I'm still spotting... :/ I looked through the blood test results from A&E and there's an increase in white blood cells.. My understanding is that this indicates infection, right? So how come no one looked for the source..? I just worry that there might something wrong with my cervix, infection, perhaps? They asked me about smear tests and sti screening but no one thought of taking a peek..? I was seen by gyneo registrar after all..

Any other girls with bleeding, did they check your cervix..?

BEEwitched · 02/12/2013 16:35

MTMD, they never did and I really don't understand why. It's all very hands off, isn't it?

I hope things settle down, did they tell you to rest?

CleverOl10 · 02/12/2013 17:01

Thanks Hackney.

Slept til 4 and managed to get out of bed without being sick. Gave in and took paracetamol and headache easing. Have even managed chocolate milk and grapes. Unorthodox but food nonetheless! Starting to get a little excited about scan tomorrow.

dramajustfollowsme · 02/12/2013 17:48

I bled with my last pregnancy and they never examined me at all. hope it clears up for you.
I'm having terrible insomnia but am so tired. I managed a whole day at school and only threw up once, remarkable as I couldn't move for the last couple of days.
Dh is working late this week so I have the added fun of trying to put to bed a grumpy, teething toddler. Confused

MTMD · 02/12/2013 17:53

BEE, strange, isn't it? Lots of websites are pointing finger at cervix inflammation which is caused by a number of infections. they also say this shouldn't be left untreated due to potential risks.. I'm so baffled, nhs doctors seem to have an aversion to female bits!!

ohcluttergotme · 02/12/2013 18:07

Welcome Twins.
Liquid I have my scan on Thursday too! Wish it was tomorrow as so worried something not right

Vickyvix · 02/12/2013 18:51

MTMD They did check my cervix when I went to A&E the other week with bleeding. They did a full on check like a smear with the speculum(?) thing and then went right in there 'manually' with fingers too!!! (sorry TMI but it has implanted on my memory!)

I'm afraid I don't know what increased white blood cells means, but if you are worried maybe call your midwife or GP and ask them to book you in for a check?

Be reassured though that I had spotting for a good few days after the bleed, I think it takes a while for everything to come out if that makes sense.

Great news hackney

Welcome twins

WifeofGru · 02/12/2013 18:52

Had scan today which all looked as it should. Nasal bone seen. Nuchal thickness around 1mm so when combined with bloods, risk of trisomy 21 1:5000 and risk of trisomies 13/18 1:7000. Have the option of the fetal DNA test, but I am happy to accept the odds from the combined NT and bloods, and don't want a week of low level anxiety waiting for the results. Very, very happy and relieved. EDD now 18/6/14. Sooooo exciting. finally feel I can exercise a bit and relax knowing that all looks well.

Ada good luck with your CVS results.

Good luck everyone with scans, blood results this week.

hackneybird · 02/12/2013 19:22

Lovely news gru.

Anyone else here not feeling fussed about telling everyone? I don't know why but I really don't want to make any big announcements. I've been quite enjoying no one knowing.

I feel a bit self conscious about being 40. Maybe that's it.

Vickyvix · 02/12/2013 19:27

Yey, great news wife you must be very relieved.

This might be a daft question, but do you get results there and then at nuchal scan on NHS? I had bloods taken at booking and have my scan next week, but midwife mentioned taking bloods on the day too. Just wondering if you get the news there and then, some posts suggest you do and some suggest a wait.

Magpie78 · 02/12/2013 19:47

Hi Vix they do it all the same day and then if all ok you get a letter in a couple of weeks and if they need to look at things you get a call in a couple of days. Hope that helps. :)

WifeofGru · 02/12/2013 19:54

Vicky not sure about NHS. I had finger prick bloods done 10 days beforehand to look at free beta hcg and PAPP A and these were used to give me the result today.

hackney we haven't told anyone yet and are going to wait til after Christmas as we are overseas and will wait to tell everyone in person. I know what you mean about it being our little news for now. We are going to tell DDs the week before Christmas. With my second we didn't tell DD1 till I was 20 weeks although she was only 3. She turned 6 last week so we will tell her at the end of school term so that she is around us every day to ask any questions that pop into her little mind. DD2 is only 2.3 so I don't think she'll really get it.

seatfor5 · 02/12/2013 19:56

Vicky My MW said that as i have had the bloods taken 2 weeks before I should get it on the day Xmas Smile I think it does depend on when you had the bloods done.

ADA Good luck with your results please dont feel you shouldn't post here - I am sure there will be a few of us that come across troubles along the way and we are all here to get each other through xx

Lovely news about the other results Xmas Smile

CleverOl10 · 02/12/2013 20:11

Advice needed. Just had a small bleed. Was really badly constipated and (sorry tmi) pushing for ages. After I'd been I wiped and thought it was from the back but it wasn't. It was really watery red. Stopped now but will check again in a minute. I have my scan at 11am tomorrow. Do I wait til then and tell them or panic now? Sad

superlambanana · 02/12/2013 20:25

Are you sure it wasn't from the back Clever? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I've been mistaken before! If it's only a small amount and has stopped then I'd try not to worry (I know that's probably not helpful, sorry!). I'm sure it will be fine but have a hand hold Thanks You will more than likely see your wiggly baby tomorrow morning Smile

CleverOl10 · 02/12/2013 20:32

Thanks super. Yes sure not from back. Checked a lot! My gut says to just wait and see what tomorrow brings. Will keep checking and if it starts again or gets heavy might act sooner but not sure what difference 12 hours will make. Sad

Vickyvix · 02/12/2013 20:40

Thanks for the help re nuchal results ladies.

clever if it's just a small amount and has stoppe I would wait until tomorrow (I know that is easier said than done). If it starts again or get heavy then you could always go and get checked out. It's so worrying when it happens but please do be reassured that it sounds quite common in first trimester, especially when everything is so sensitive down there. They say 1/3 of women experience bleeds in first trimester so try not to worry too much. But, if it gets worse there's no harm in getting checked in my view.

Very best of luck for your scan tomorrow I really hope you get to see your happy healthy baby bouncing around.

MarlenaGru · 02/12/2013 20:41

Congrats wifeof
Hopefully it is nothing clever they probably won't do much before tomorrow anyway. Definitely easier said than done!

Magpie78 · 02/12/2013 20:46

Hi Clever have read somewhere that this can happen when you strain as all the blood vessels in your nethers are really engorged. If it doesn't happen again I wouldn't worry too much but mention it tomorrow for sure. Thanks

ohcluttergotme · 02/12/2013 20:51

MTMD i had a lot of bleeding with 2nd pregnancy and got lots of internal examinations and very similar to smear test. They wanted to check my cervix. They never did find out what all the bleeding was for.
I thought I was getting over the complete exhaustion but been wiped out tonight.
Night ladies, wishing everyone with scans tomorrow well.

jaykay987 · 02/12/2013 21:00

I can't remember who asked.....(or if it was on this thread).

But I handed my maternity prescription exemption form into the gp 22nd Nov. I got my card today. So just a little over a week.

It's official...I might topple over. Gone up a back size and two cup sizes. I was big before....Ive just crossed the line into 'cartoon'!!Smile I hope that's it now - no more growth spurts FX!

Magpie78 · 02/12/2013 21:08

I feel your pain jayKay started off as a 36e and now am a 42f! I officially have comedy knockers......

MTMD · 02/12/2013 21:23

Then do a separate blood test on a scan day as part of screening for dawns.

I think I'll see if my spotting settles over the next few of days. If not, my scan is on Friday, I might speak to somebody at hospital about getting my cervix checked out..

Clever, I did so much reading about bleeding in pregnancy, looks like it happens to lots of women and if you feel ok otherwise (no cramps, etc), I think you're probably fine! Good luck with your scan tomorrow!!
