it's my birthday today; this time last year I was cuddling & BF'ing my 3mo as I opened my presents with my other two (and dh) didn't expect to be expecting on my next birthday, my Chamila bracelet is full now had to start a new one with the make a wish charm they bought me & tbh I'm still full from the lovely cooked breakfast we had out, funny when im usually chain eating great term by the way
hope everyone else is ok Wink

HannahC1989 · 01/12/2013 17:34

Anybody else purchased a fetal doppler machine? Im completely addicted to mine! X

superlambanana · 01/12/2013 17:39

Happy birthday cjbk!

Have had reasonably good day today. Iffy start, but got out this morning, then walked dog (which wiped me out!) and bought some presents and new Christmas lights this afternoon. I actually feel human!!

Worries about tomorrow - it's so much easier when DH does things for me because I don't have to get breakfast or lunch, and he does things like getting my clothes out so I don't have to bend down and things. He also drives wherever we go and I have someone to lean on when we walk. I think that's why I'm feeling so much better and I'm really worried that I'm just not quite at the stage of doing it all myself and not feeling sick at the moment.

Lmf679 · 01/12/2013 18:27

Cjbk1 happy birthday!

Redcliff · 01/12/2013 18:29

Happy birthday C - cooked breakfast out sounds yummy ! I didn't leave the house today as wiped out after my shopping trip yesterday. Got up at 9 fell asleep on the sofa at 12!

Just had another look at gap online - anyone know if the full panel or Demi panel is the way to go?

MarlenaGru · 01/12/2013 19:46

Happy birthday cjbk!
Iwe went out for breakfast with my sister etc this morning while DD was at a party. It was blissful having breakfast without any rush to leave once she got bored! I then fetched her and was hoping to do a bit of shopping but the shops were rammed and I ended up exhausted after 15 minutes. Been asleep on the beanbag since 4 Hmm

super I am nowhere near as sick as you this time but I also dread Mondays as I can't have a sneaky nap rather than ploughing on. Nativity, Christmas fair and parents night out at DD's school so I can see this being a busy week too. Roll on 13 weeks!

GillyBillyWilly · 01/12/2013 19:52

Hi all Smile
Just checking in as I've been absent for a few days!

Question! Does anyone here dye their hair?
If so, have you been dying it through pregnancy so far?

My hair is a mess and I really need the roots and colour sorted (and a decent cut as it's out of control right now) !

I have never had roots like this before.. I hadn't dyed it since a few weeks before finding out I was pregnant. I thought I would just not bother and didn't want to dye it in the first trimester (even though my midwife said its fine!)

Don't want to use henna really. It's all or nothing for me! Just want to go to the salon and have it sorted and be made beautiful again!

Mitchell2 · 01/12/2013 20:10

Happy birthday c

gilly I have died my hair (it was highlights rather than an all over color). Knew there was word out there that this is verboten but read up a bit, and really didn't think that it was an issue at all. Actually need to get it done again in the next week or so.

Mitchell2 · 01/12/2013 20:11

Dyed... ! Not killed it (although with the split ends I have at the moment...)

wispaxmas · 01/12/2013 20:18

I don't dye my hair, but surely if your midwife said it was ok you can do it, gilly!

2nd trimester tomorrow!!! Im so excited about such an arbitrary thing, but to my mind it means a bit more relaxation regarding medicine the next time I get sick. Feeling mostly better save a lingering cough now, thank god.

12 more days in France, then 3 days at home and then CANADA!! It's December, woohoo!

redcliff, I bought Demi panel for now as I knew I wouldn't be filling a full panel for ages yet. They're super comfortable, but I find that their sizes ran pretty big. Im normally on the cusp of 14/16 and I got 16s, but definitely could have fit into 14s. I think I might get some full panel ones in the after Christmas sales, though.

Thanks wisps that sounds like a good plan. Last time when I got really big I ended up living in dungarees at the end so think will get some Demi for now and see how I go.

Gilly I dyed my hair last time round after doing a fair bit of research am sure you will be fine.

(Loving being a member here already)

Dipsey00 · 01/12/2013 21:06

Hi, I dye my hair every three weeks and have not worried. I am 13 weeks. I believe the issue with dying your hair is if you are confined in a closed space with chemicals which you could inhale it may be harmful but I am going with it, my grey roots need covering so I am not stressing about it.

adaloveslace · 01/12/2013 21:11

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in weeks but I've been popping in and reading your updates. Glad to hear all the scans are going well and that so many of the beans are bouncing. Not sure if you're still reading S1mmy, but so very sorry for your loss Thanks

I've got my 12 week scan and nuchal test in about 2 hours (in Australia so it's Monday morning here). I did the bloods a week ago so I will hopefully get the full combined result. I'm slightly terrified, I think just because I'm 38 and will be a month off 39 when the baby comes, so I'm much higher risk for abnormalities than I was for my first two, when I was 30 and 31. I have had three mini scans already with my obstetrician (one last week after spotting) and everything seemed perfect. I just want to get this over with now! Deep breaths and lots of Brew I think.

Good luck to anyone else having Monday scans.

ElizaB3 · 01/12/2013 22:19

Ada I'm sure if all three were perfect before you don't need to worry now, but understand how scans make you nervous; I have my mine tomorrow (under the guise of a dentist appointment)
From all the talk of maternity clothes does everyone have a bump now? Mine seems to have appeared overnight; didn't want to tell work until January so going to have lots of baggy outfits on parade!

adaloveslace · 01/12/2013 22:36

Thanks Eliza - just waiting to go in now Confused

ElizaB3 · 01/12/2013 22:48

Good luck Ada! Let us know how you get on. (We are going to bed in this hemisphere!)

hackneybird · 01/12/2013 22:58

Hi everyone. Lovely to hear about all the good scan results and happy endings!

I was at a wedding this weekend. It was nice except of course everyone around me was getting happily tipsy while I sat there yawning all day and night! Spookily, a woman asked me if I was pg as I was having a quick sit down on a sofa. I sort of fudged my response but she said. 'I'm a midwife and I knew you were as soon as I saw you - it's in the eyes! All pregnant women have the same look'. Very strange.

Still feeling shocking. Have Harmony result and 12 wk scan tomorrow morning - v nervous and just want to get it over with.

I find ASOS good for maternity - loads of choice.

superlambanana · 01/12/2013 23:37

Spooky hackneybird! I saw some friends this morning - had to fudge responses about why I've barely been out the house for three weeks (they live next door so had noticed!). I'm sure they saw straight through me but didn't ask which I appreciated!

Eliza if I let my tummy expand to its full capacity I look about 7 months Blush At normal position (!) it swells slightly but I think this must just be bloat. Surely I can't have a bump at 10wks with my first..?!

adaloveslace · 02/12/2013 02:54

Just wanted to update after my post earlier. Unfortunately, the screening didn't go well. My bloods and nuchal measurement were all fine, but the baby's nasal bone is underdeveloped, so I have come back as very high risk for Downs, and less high risk (but still at risk) of Edwards.

For various reasons, we opted to have the cvs then and there, so I will know in a couple of days. I don't want to alarm anyone waiting for their scan, so I won't post any more here for now. Thanks Eliza for the well wishes.

jaykay987 · 02/12/2013 05:48

Ada - FX for you

Super - I feel the same. DH keeps laughing my my unexpected early belly growth. I'm not yet finding it that funny! Grin

Hackney - good luck at fmc today. Let us know how you get on!

Vickyvix · 02/12/2013 06:59

Ada'fingers crossed it's just slightly slower growth and the results of CVS give you the all clear.

hackney good luck. fx for you.

I'm the same at the moment re bump. If I let everything expand I really do look about 5 months pregnant but if I suck it all in in have a bit low down that just doesn't budge anymore so maybe very beginning of a bump but not sure. Jeans are definitely tighter.

I looked online at some pics of bumps at 11/12 weeks and some were really obvious, some weren't. I don't really know when it's supposed to show.

jaykay987 · 02/12/2013 07:15

I don't know either. I think every body handles it differently.

I'm hoping to get through most of January at work just by hoping people think ate too much over Christmas! Grin

HannahC1989 · 02/12/2013 07:45

Fingers crossed for you ada.
My little girl has woken up with a sickness bug this morning so im playing nurse whilst battling my own sickness. Thank heavens for dvds n cbeebies.
Have a good day everyone xxxx

cjbk1 · 02/12/2013 07:46

thanks for the birthday wishes. I've got a flat tummy when lying down and a bloat when standing too, I don't see the funny side either and I'll have to but my own maternity scrub tops different from the last time I bought them again the alternative is to wear smelly old men's tops from the back of the cupboard which don't match anyone else's-no thanks Shock
