Good luck with your booking in jaykay. Can't think of anything else you'd need although if you have questions you might want to write them down beforehand so you don't forget.

BlueC2 · 21/11/2013 10:03

So I rushed around like a crazy thing, battled nightmare traffic to get DS to the childminders and got home with 2mins to spare before midwife was due to arrive...and then reread the letter and saw the appointment was Thursday 19th December...not sure how I thought that was today Blush so now exhausted and fed up as was looking forward to getting booked in. Still no news on early scan either...can see us trying to find the money for a private one at this rate. Grrr

MargeryDaw · 21/11/2013 11:09

JayKay - the dating scan is the key one for giving you your weeks. I had long cycles before my first and worried about them taking my LMP date but it all got correctly adjusted back at the dating scan

Blueberry234 · 21/11/2013 11:36

Scan all good about 6w4d and a strong heartbeat seen, fingers crossed the next one is ok!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 21/11/2013 11:56

Good luck tanny and pearls! Let us know how it goes!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 21/11/2013 11:56

Congratulations Blueberry!

SmallOlympianBear · 21/11/2013 11:57

Great news Blueberry! Good luck with your appointment Tanny and how's your DS, Zing?

Meh, had my booking in appointment. Midwife was being extra nice so she definitely remembered. Not up to date on some of the latest advice (NHS says Stilton ok, hurray!) but hey ho.

On my way to London for a meeting and feel grim. Have nappy bags at the ready in case of sudden vomiting, groan!

SmallOlympianBear · 21/11/2013 11:58

Good luck Pearls

jaykay987 · 21/11/2013 13:16

that's great blueberry

how are the other appointments going today? (there seems to be lots going on today!)

ahh blue that must be so frustrating! I'd probably have cried in a crumpled messed!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis · 21/11/2013 13:23

thanks for all who asked - DS2 is doing ok.
stuffed with painkillers, but happy as he is spoilt with donuts and milkshake! Grin

had app with GP today - she's a new doctor and sooooo lovely - so it's official and hopefully I get the dates for MW and scan soon.

I have to say certain smells started to bother me now - chaning nappies is the worst.

good luck with various things!

liquidstate · 21/11/2013 13:35

Well I have been signed off sick for a week due to the nausea. Have pulled muscles in my tummy due to the wretching. I have the anti sickness tablets but threw the first one up! Fingers crossed they work.

Have been very faddy with food so not cravings as such. Just had a BBQ chicken pizza for breakfast. very unhealthy, but am finding I cannot face fruit and veg.

MW appointment next week, Will make a decision after that as to whether I book in for a private scan or not. I was told only to bring my NHS no. to the MW appointment, do I need to wee in a pot as well?

BlueC2 · 21/11/2013 13:47

jaykay yes pretty much did do that! Have managed to put my frustration to good use though and after ringing 5 different numbers at the hospital i have tracked down my early scan which is on 2nd Dec :) so at least I have that to look forward to now that I have to wait another whole month for my booking app

zing so glad your DS is doing ok
blueberry great news on your scan
liquid hope the meds kick in and make a difference v soon!

Right, back to work - have moved all my stuff onto the dining table so I can look out the window at the trees whilst I work daydream about not feeling sick

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/11/2013 14:15

Just called my doctor to confirm that my appointment with doctor next week was a booking in appointment as surely that would be longer. Called. Yes, they knew it was booking in appointment. Nope, just 10 minutes, that's all he'll need. He just fills in some forms and gives me some stuff and sends me on my way to queue up at a completely different site for my blood tests etc. I mentioned that everything had led me to believe that booking in would take around half an hour and I was then assured I wouldn't feel rushed (in 10 minutes!)>
Is it too late to change surgeries??!!

LadyGoneGaga · 21/11/2013 14:38

Can't you just book in with the midwife at 9 or 10 weeks like they suggested originally, DoctorDonna? As mentioned the GP's are not specialist in this. You need plenty of time to talk through all of your concerns, medical history, preferences for the birth etc. I just don't think it's worth doing with the GP. It sounds like they are humouring you to get you to go away to be honest. Your booking appt really is your opportunity to talk about everything properly as all of the other appointments tend to be a really quick 5 mins, check BP and wee and baby's position and heartbeat and get you out of the door.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/11/2013 14:50

The doctor is seeing 3 other people for the same that day. They aren't just humouring me - it seems at my surgery the community midwife's appointments are only 10 minutes as well, she also doesn't do the blood tests etc.
Everything I have read led me to believe the booking in appointment should be in the first two months. I understand I may be being hyper-concerned but I have reason to be.

jaykay987 · 21/11/2013 14:57

I would see how it goes and then you could always try and book in with your midwife for an appointment in a few weeks when they can see you? As you do have your list of worries - it's probably even more important you get to see a mw and have enough time to talk.

In our area the mw tries to book everyone is as close to 10 weeks as possible. Based on my lmp I will be 9w+4 when I go tomorrow (although she's yet to learn my scan measures me at 7w+6).

I saw on the June thread this morning, one lady has been told its a 90 min appointment, and another 2 hours!
Can you share any of your more generic (not your specific health worries) questions you want answered?
The only question I can think of right now is - can I get a flu jab. I don't want to walk out of the appointment and think of loads of questions I won't get answered for months?

roozocheeks · 21/11/2013 15:57

Hi everyone, hope all is well!
I had my booking in apt. today..not much to report back. MW was lovely, went through the mountains of questions then blood pressure, blood tests and pee in a cup!
I have a whole library's worth of leaflets and books to get through now, it's like studying for an exam!

roozocheeks · 21/11/2013 15:59

Meant to say MW has given me EDD of 28th june... I was positive its later so might just stay on this bus if that's ok?!?

Collie1806 · 21/11/2013 16:02

Hi all,
Can I be added to the list please? I'm due July 5th!
Good luck with the pregnancies everyone x

NancyinCali · 21/11/2013 16:39

Thanks for adding me to the list MrsB. My goodness you're a chatty bunch which is lovely but I'm 8 hours behind you all so I can't catch up!

I made my first appointment with the MW for about 4 weeks time (when I'll be 8 weeks or so). Excited but nervous for the next few weeks. And I'm finding it so hard to keep the news quiet. I remember the weeks between poas and the scan going so slowly last time - mind you I didn't have a toddler to occupy me then.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/11/2013 16:50

Came home to my scan appointment. So feeling a little less lost in the system now. It's for the 3rd January. It's annoying that it's after Christmas, but it's before school goes back so I won't need cover for that one.
I'll clearly have to get everything I need before then as you have to bring your stuff with you to the appointment.
Booking a private scan before Christmas so that we can feel better about telling people. Still a little nervous though - my mum had a period while expecting me so was surprised to discover she was a month further along than anyone thought at her dating scan! I could do without that. An EDD of the last week of the summer term is much more convenient.
Tardis
