Hi Everyone
I thought we should have a thread in here as so many of us have now graduated into the antenatal threads. I know that many good friendships have been made and it would be a shame to lose them because we are all due in different months.
So come on sign in!!

im 34+2 at the mo. so not very far infront of you

yeah thats right about Kat. she had her baby a few weeks back i think, but since then none of us have heard from her...hope shes ok and that alls well.

im good thanks (well apart from the aching, peeing and general feeling of being uncomfortable lol)

Are there any foods that u cant get enough of lately? mine seems to be hot currys lol. madras for me and dh tonight me thinks

Coriander73 · 14/09/2006 17:05

Hospital bag..well this is what I packed last time & this!!

Maternity pads
Knickers (disp & normal)
Nursing bras
Newborn Nappies
Babygros / vests / hat / mitterns / cardie / blanket for going home
Two breastfeeding nighties
Dressing gown
Slippers
Nipple cream
Toiletries for me
Small coin purse for coins..even though you can text etc but just incase.
Glucose tablets
CDs
CAMERA!

If by chance you forget something, you can always get DH or parent etc to bring it in for you but I think you don't really need much more than that....

Coriander73 · 14/09/2006 17:06

Talking of hot foods....I've asked DH to make his chilli pasta tonight..which is just spaghetti, loads of garlic, olive oil, onion & chilli..just scrumptious & what I need RIGHT NOW!!!!

wuzzlefraggle · 14/09/2006 17:15

ahh, nursing bra's and slippers have now been added to my list. brilliant. thanks very much cori ooo, chili pasta sounds nice. i'll have to try that i think. ive got the idea of chicken madras in my head for tonight tho lol.
i noticed on your list that it said breast feeding nighties...can you get special ones or something?

Coriander73 · 14/09/2006 21:53

Nighties...yes, basically they are front opening for quick & easier access to get the old boobs out when called upon!! If you get normal nighties or pjs for that matter with no openings then you'll be forced to lift the whole thing up which is totally unpractical & also quite cold at 2 in the morning!! Mothercare & places normally do a pack of two for approx £20-25 from memory.....I've borrowed another set from a close friend so I'll have 4 on the go once at home as if breastfeeding, you generally have to contend with leaking etc even with pads in & / or (sorry if tmi) you can stain them with your blood loss so it's nice to have clean spare ones to hand. I remember leaking quite badly earlier on in the middle of the night so had to change etc....once that calms down then two suffices.....

peachygirl · 15/09/2006 17:06

Cori good to see you still here but I bet you are ready to get on with it all now!
have a good weekend everyone!

Hi everyone,

I've had a look on the September ante-natal thread and there's no news on Cori yet. She must have had her LO by now though. The first baby of the thread! Who's next? Is it you Wuzzle?

My friend is being induced this afternoon but doesn't really want to be because her dh will be sent home while she stays in hospital, and she hates that idea. So can everyone send labour vibes to her now so she goes into labour naturally before 3pm today. Thanks

wuzzlefraggle · 18/09/2006 17:03

im sending labour vibese to your friend HC!

cori, hope alls doing well

and yup, it should be me next HC...ive got 5 weeks left eeeeek!! lol went to the midwife today and alls fine. dh recorded the babys heart beat on his mobile too

hope alls well and that everyone is doing good xox

NatalieJane · 18/09/2006 17:37

Hello everyone

How exciting for Cori Can't wait to hear all the news!

HC I hope your friend managed to go on her own, and that either way it went well

Hope everyone else is doing well I am starting to feel very pregnant and I don't even want to think about how much worse it is going to get in the next 10 weeks!

I am hoping that by the end of this weekend, the nursery will be finished so I will have my dining room back Everyone keep your fingers crossed please!! TC xxx

laughalot · 18/09/2006 18:49

Fingers crossed nat, and fingers crossed for your friend hope but im to late if it was 3 pm. Well im fine 17 weeks to go for me and im gett ing huge , wuzz 5 weeks scary.

wuzzlefraggle · 18/09/2006 21:51

fingers crossed that the nursery gets done nat!

laughalot - yeh, i must admit, its taking me a lot of effort to stop bricking it lol

glad to hear that every1 is doing well. xox

NatalieJane · 19/09/2006 09:59

Wuzz you will be fine, I promise that by the time you get back to MN, all of the worst bits will be behind you, and your little girl will be the only thing you think about!

You will have to get someones mobile number so you can text (from the delivery suite!!) to let us all know the details

Lota, the next few weeks will go so quickly, all of a sudden you will find yourself at 30 weeks and start to go into panic mode!! I love it how once we get to 20 weeks we start counting down the weeks so instead of being 23 weeks pregnant, we only have 17 weeks left!! LOL

I'm not worried about the birth itself, if I want it I will have an epidural (or it will go so quickly that the pain will be over before it starts!!), I am however worried about the actually run up, what the hell would I do if I went into labour at say 10 o'clock AM, DS at school, DH a good 3 hour drive away at work, by 11 o'clock baby is coming out, and I am all on my own? With no one to get DS? That sort of birth does scare the shit out of me! (Sorry)

HopingCat · 19/09/2006 10:00

Still no news on my friend. So either she was induced and nothing happened so they are increasing the dose today, or she's in labour but it's going really slowly. I'm so excited and impatient waiting for news. Now I know how all my family will feel when I go into labour.

NJ - I am also feeling very pregnant now. I've suddenly got all sorts of so called 'minor' ailments (midwife's term) all at once like heartburn and back ache, which is making me feel uncomfortable and a bit down. I'd be better if I could sleep for more than a couple of hours without needing a wee!

NatalieJane · 19/09/2006 10:19

HC when I was induced I had to go in for 9PM on the Sunday, they put the gel in and said that it probably wouldn't do anything (first time mum's normally take 2/3 lots of gel) and that they would give me the second lot at 6AM on the Monday morning, giving me the best chance of not having to labour through the night, sure enough the 6AM gel started me off, and I had DS by the Monday evening. Maybe this is why you've had no news yet?

Sorry you are feeling the full blown effects This is the time for lots of pampering and resting! (...She says on her way upstairs to gloss the nursery again...!)

wuzzlefraggle · 19/09/2006 14:59

hi everyonem hope you are all ok.

wonder how cori is getting on....

well, midwife app went well yesterday, so thats all good

im aching all the time and i seem to be in a really grumpy mood all the time too. im blaming the hormones lol

HopingCat · 19/09/2006 15:12

2 great pieces of news: -

Cori had a little boy at the weekend! She briefly posted on the Sept thread.

My best friend has had her baby! I don't know many details, just that he is Luke James and weighs 7lbs 4oz.

I'm so excited I can't concentrate on work at all today!!

wuzzlefraggle · 19/09/2006 15:44

omg!!!

Congratulations Cori!!

and congratulations hc's friend!!

peachygirl · 20/09/2006 16:08

Hi what wonderful news
Congratulations Cori and to HC friend.
I got back from the midwife a bit ago and everything seems to be fine , from prodding and poking she said it was the right size and I heard it's heart beating!!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 09:36

Many many many congratulations to Cori

And Peachy, the sound of that heartbeat stays with you for the rest of your life (or it has done for me with DS's so far!!)

Quick little question girls, my lovely mother has decided to book a late holiday next month (no seriously, she deserves it, it just mucks our plans a bit!!) but it leaves us with a choice of going to see her either weekend after next (which really does muck our plans up) or waiting until she gets back, which will put me at 36+ weeks, for those that don't know she lives over 200 miles away (in real time that is a good 5 hours drive away with DS) and we normally go down on the Friday night, come home Sunday evening. Is it too risky to make the trip at 36+ (could be closer to or even past 37 weeks!)? Is it tempting fate for me to go into early labour, or it a surefire way of making sure I won't - IYSWIM?!!

HopingCat · 21/09/2006 12:24

Nj - I wouldn't travel that far at over 36 weeks, mainly because I am not that comfortable in the car. I suppose the baby coming early is only a concern if you mind which hospital you end up in. So if you are happy travelling and will deliver anywhere then go and see your mum when you want (just take your notes!)

I'm hoping to see my friend today and her new baby. I've spoken to her DH, who said she got to 9cms before having a section when baby went into distress. Sounds like a very hard birth. It doesn't make me feel great, but I know everyone is different and one persons experience is rarely the same as anothers.

NatalieJane · 21/09/2006 14:44

HC, have a look out for the thread about funny birth stories, that will cheer you up a bit I expect your friend will (obviously) still be sore and recovering, but I bet the labour/CS/birth isn't the main thing she will want to tell you about!

And no I am not bothered which hospital I give birth in, have only seen two midwives here anyway, I wouldn't know them if they were at the birth or not. And my mum would be able to have DS for us, which would be an enormous weight off my mind, we still aren't sure what we will do with him when the time comes. But DH says he doesn't want to risk me going into labour down there, and he doesn't like the idea of bringing a newborn home on a five hour trip, I don't think it would be the end of world TBH! The biggest problem I can think of, is if I end up with a CS or some other complication, DS would miss a lot of school.

The more I think about it, the more I think it would be a blessing in disguise really! (but shush, don't tell DH that!! )
