Hello!

So I'm actually due around 27th July but I went two weeks overdue with my first so I'm pretty sure this will be an August baby Smile

Is there anyone else who is newly pregnant and would like to join me?

hungry the smiley face OPK's do smile when you're pregnant, I did it out of interest a couple of days ago, I'd always been intrigued about OPK's being used as pg tests so thought I'd give it a go. We didn't use OPK's this month as we weren't trying because we wanted to get christmas over with plus there's a promotion opportunity coming up at work! How funny is that, the one month we don't "try" we got caught haha. Still think I'm going to go for the job when it comes up but I'll have to tell them I'm pregnant so I'm pretty sure they will disregard my application immediately!

DinkyMole · 05/12/2013 18:02

Ruggle I had that. It's gone off now, lasted maybe a week or so.

Shakshuka · 05/12/2013 18:13

Hope it's all ok funnyfish. I hate the waiting game. I wish they could just say whether it's OK or not!

pina I've been shortlisted for a new post on promotion and now I'm getting worried if I do get it and this pregnancy lasts how I'd manage. I had to do a 2 hour technical test last night and started getting dizzy with the stress (whereas normally I'm fine with tests). It's a bit out of my area of specialism and what I've been working in so I had to get open the text books and do stuff I haven't touched since I was in grad school about 8 years ago. If I pass that, I have an interview tomorrow.

hungry
I'm in the US so it's a totally different system - you choose your ob-gyn or midwife group. I have an appointment to see an ob-gyn in a couple of weeks and they're going to do an ultrasound then so I hope to get my dates. I think I'm about 5 weeks. It's a bit embarrassing because my cousin who also lives in NYC is an ob-gyn. When I asked him for a recommendation, he suggested I come to his office (obviously not him, that would be very uncomfortable!). Now I'm wondering if it was such a good idea, what if he ends up at the delivery? I'm a total cow when I give birth, I couldn't look him in the eye again if he saw me like that.

Hollyjokes · 05/12/2013 18:30

Ally I'm puking loads too. When I'm not puking I feel like I'm about to. Not a nice feeling at all.

Ruggle yes I was peeing loads too, right up until I started vomiting loads as now I'm peeing even less than usual because I'm finding it hard to keep fluids down!

Funnyfish I'm keeping everything crossed for you that everything is ok x

Oh gosh Shak, that could be mega awkward if you had to give birth with your cousin present! Could you voice your concerns and see it he suggests moving your care to elsewhere while it's still early on?

Shakshuka · 05/12/2013 18:39

It was bad enough when I phoned the office because I had some brown spotting. Because I'm a new patient, they didn't want to speak so I mentioned that my cousin was the one who sent me (whcih of course changed everything!). But then I got an email from my cousin asking how things are. I feel really embarrassed that he knows about the state of my vaginal discharge!! We're meeting with him this weekend and I know I'm going to feel a bit awkward that I've discussed this with him :)

talulahbelle · 05/12/2013 18:55

I don't really fancy eating anything, DH keeps on coming in a halfheartedly suggesting stuff I could eat and I just want him to FECK OFF. Nothing he suggests is nice, and I'd rather he leaves me alone.

Sick/rage/tired

HungryHorace · 05/12/2013 19:00

Surely my digi wouldn't be 1-2 weeks if I was 8 weeks' pregnant?! And I had what I thought were OV pains too. But I'd considered that the spotting was implantation til all tests said bfn. This is scary / exciting all at once. And I'm going to have to do another smiley OPK later!

Funny, I hope everything is ok.

Shak, that's really not great. My cousins aren't the ones I'd choose to tell about such things. Awkward much?!

travispickles · 05/12/2013 19:35

A long day at work... I had forgotten how tired you feel. Although so far I don't feel as sick but I am only 4/5 weeks and I think it got particularly nasty at about 6 last time. Fingers crossed for all with concerns; I don't feel as stressed as last time. Weird.

SliceOfLime · 05/12/2013 19:49

isit I really hope my post didn't spook you about the scan, I'm so sorry - I only meant for me personally I can't be doing with the faff of an early one myself after previous experience, but it will probably be very reassuring for you - I think if you see a heartbeat at 8 weeks there is something like a 97% chance of everything being fine. Need to check my pregnancy book when I get home for the stats! (at mum's this week for a bit of extra help with dd while feeling pukey!) Again I am so sorry for insensitive post.

HungryHorace · 05/12/2013 19:56

Piña, in the spirit of investigation, and my continued obsession with POAS, I just used a smiley and an IC OPK.

I can confirm a strong positive on the IC and a smiley face on the mindwateringingly expensive smiley one. Interesting. Confused now though!

SliceOfLime · 05/12/2013 19:58

Just catching up and shakshuka your post made me laugh, you don't always want your relatives to have the full information about this kind of stuff...! My brother is a doctor and he would be absolutely horrified if he had to watch me give birth, and so would I! Argh. Allypally and Holly and anyone else who is throwing up, huge sympathy, hope you find something you can keep down. Bleurgh - despite feeling incredibly sick I am eating everything in sight, will be in maternity clothes by Christmas if this carries on.

isitnearlyteatime · 05/12/2013 20:51

so sorry to hear that funnyfish - fingers crossed for you that's its all ok

yr post shakshuka was very funny - I can't imagine in a million years having my cousin there on the day - it would be just the very worst!

don't worry sliceoflime - its always gd to know all the facts and I guess I will just have to do what feels right - I have been advised by the medics to have a scan at 7 weeks as Ive had alot of previous probs but I will just see when I reach that how I feel - always good to be informed and the last few days I have learnt so much that I didnt know!

hope all those feeling sick feel better soon

Hollyjokes · 05/12/2013 21:10

Slice I tried on an old pair of mat jeans the other day and they were sooo comfy - I'm seriously tempted to just start wearing them already!

I was doing the 5:2 fasting diet until I found out I was pregnant - just the one day fasting to maintain my weight. Now I've stopped I'm just waiting for my body to twig. Might have to start exercising instead. Hard times!

I have a question - what do we all do for a living? If you can answer without outing yourself, go for it!

DinkyMole · 06/12/2013 00:43

I work in a call centre and I'm also a student psychotherapist Smile

eeyore2911 · 06/12/2013 01:24

I'm a staff nurse and work lovely crazy 12.5 hour shifts in the NHS! Shock

Shakshuka · 06/12/2013 02:29

Totally outing myself (better watch what I say from now on, I'm instantly recognizable to anyone who vaguely knows me) but I analyze fertility stats for my current job, rather ironic :)

Shakshuka · 06/12/2013 02:35

What do you do df?

Btw, I was also doing 5:2, I loved it! Lost 12 lbs on it which I'm really glad of now. There's no way I could do it at the moment so I'm also upping my exercise. I was doing the 30 day shred a few tines a week and j want to keep going on that for the first trimester at least.

HungryHorace · 06/12/2013 03:33

I'm a trainee solicitor.

I'm not sure I'll qualify though, to be honest, what with having two under two once this one is born!

travispickles · 06/12/2013 06:08

I am a French teacher and also a student of psychology! I was also doing 5:2 til last week and am running until I have to stop! Put on a massive amount of weight last time a d am determined not to do that again!!

Howly · 06/12/2013 07:08

I'm a geog teacher. I was doing sw and have been at target since July but constantly snacking to keep the nausea at bay is piling the pounds back on!

HungryHorace · 06/12/2013 07:10

I did diet for a bit after DD was born, but it was hard to deprive myself of food while also being sleep deprived...miserable existence!

I'm hoping my daily walks with DD in the pram will help me to not get quite so heavy this time. :-)

funkymonk · 06/12/2013 07:58

I'm an occupational therapist in stroke rehab.

I sometimes visit the due in march thread that I was originally on and they have a link to a spreadsheet with everyones details on. Username, due date, location, team blue or pink. Perhaps we could start something like that? They also have a secret Facebook group so they can see each others lovely faces after talking for so many months!

How's funny fish this morning? I've been having spotting for 7days now. It is a worry, but trying to remain calm that it can be very normal.

DinkyFrinkbuster · 06/12/2013 08:10

I've been a sahm since DS was born two years ago but before that worked for a well known tech company doing social media. It's been a big adjustment leaving work. Meeting other mums can be a bit like the lottery that is fresher's week, whereas at work it was lovely to be within a bunch of similar people. That said, I've fallen into a nice group.

TwerkingNineToFive · 06/12/2013 08:35

Hope all is well this morning funny fish.
I'm a trainee speech therapist. So I'll need to take a year off my studies. I'm happy to do that though.
I'm hoping to meet some mums when I have the baby I don't have any mum friends in this city at the moment.
