Xpost- well done on the cot frank! We can't fit much in, but think I've jimmied the furniture around enough in my head to fit a cot bed in (Rachel from John Lewis). Do I need a cot top changer, or can I use a mat on the floor/my bed? Any opinions?

Can't put anything up here, or take out of packaging though as sinkycat would make it his...

FrankelInFoal · 09/12/2013 10:09

Our cat Molly has already explored the nursery Hmm I knew she'd have a go on the cot so we've left the plastic wrapping on it for now! While we were putting it together she tried to put her head between the bars but could only fit if she turned her head 90 degrees - stupid thing! She also attempted to climb the side which resulted in he hanging from the top rail by her front paws Hmm She's been shut out of the nursery now to prevent cat hair getting everywhere!

I don't actually know how many days I've got left - too scared to look!

Bloody hell - 84 days Shock That's not much!!

It's all go!

dor that sounds like a luffly day. Drink copious amounts of tea and enjoy the time to yourself. I imagine it may bring back memories. Initially that might seem sad but gradually they will make you :) I always think of my Mum when I make cheese sauce (she taught me how) and when I clean (she was fanatical!).

Very organised Frank! I found my third trimester whizzed by - time always races towards Christmas. I hope work give you an answer soon!

Good luck to Kat and draf for today. Rooting for wriggly babies all round!

I'm doing ok thanks winks. Backache from the whole UTI/kidney-ness but the antibiotics seem to be helping. We've had a mad few weeks so I have refused to plan anything for the coming weekend. Cue SIL calling MSB selfish because we won't travel to Manchester! Said she can come here but apparently that's not good enough Hmm
Faithlet slept better last night. Tooth is definitely through and sharp! Poor lamb. Must buy more baby crack teething powder

Enjoy your snooze winks. Take it easy! Same goes for jeff, wishing you health!

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 09/12/2013 10:21

Missed last page. sinks ooh double figures! We have a over cot bed changer I bought second hand which we only ever used to lift the head of the cot! We bought a chest of drawers with a cot changer on top which we use (was ex-display and vairy cheap). When Faithlet was in with us, I would change her on our bed in the mornings. I always took her to her room to change her on the chest of drawers - but - we are in a bungalow so it's not like lugging her upstairs! Lots of people have a mat downstairs.

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/12/2013 10:24

sinks I wouldn't change a boy baby on the bed, unless you fancy having a pissy duvet! Cot top changers are good if you live in a flat, and while the baby is little. When they're 18 months and need to be pinned down in place, and wriggle to get away and wee on the carpet then the floor is the only safe place.

FrankelInFoal · 09/12/2013 10:51

Can I ask thoughts in nappy brands? My BF told me, much to my surprise, that certain brands work better on boys than girls. Something to do with the way they pee - ie boy = concentrated stream at the front, girl = everywhere underneath!

What are other people's experiences?

Also, what are essentials we should start stocking up on now? I figure if I chuck a bag of cotton wool or something in my trolley every time I go to the supermarket from now on it will spread the cost and I'll have a nice little stockpile!

Scan was great, very wriggly baby, right size for dates. Very relieved!

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 09/12/2013 11:29

Hooray hooray Kat! I see you are official now :)

Frank partly it also depends on age/size. Faithlet was so tiny we had to buy small baybee nappies. I really rate Asda Little Angels and Sainsburys ranges. My friend said Lidl have just changed theirs and they are really good now. I'm yet to try them again though. I tend to buy supermarket for day time and Pampers for overnight (dry nights start at size 3 I think). I only used cotton wool in the hospital and generally use Huggies pure wipes.

FrankelInFoal · 09/12/2013 11:34

Hurrah for wriggly baybee Kat Grin

Hurrah kat! Wonderful news. Now we can really call you our BESHinstadiffer :)

Impressed with the double figures (and scared for you at the same time). It was six months til due date this weekend, and I found that quite daunting!

evilgiraffe · 09/12/2013 14:25

Mine too, Kat - everything present and correct, and measuring correct for dates :) In fact, it's a little ahead of dates (by a couple of days), so huge relief seeing as it was a slow embryo and still lagging a little bit behind at the early scan. Hurrah for us both!

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/12/2013 14:27

Oh hooray for both of you!! Grin Grin

FrankelInFoal · 09/12/2013 14:55

Elderflower cordial all round I think! Well done all!

When are our next scanees due? Winks are you up next?

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 09/12/2013 15:01

Woohoo, congrats draf that is excellent news. Grin

It is winks on the 18th? I'll be so proud if I remembered that correctly!

Then we're onto 20 week scans Shock

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 09/12/2013 15:23

Hooray draf! How exciting! Xmas Grin are you going public now?

MyNameIsWinkly · 09/12/2013 16:44

driz is right, I'm on the 18th, and I'm very impressed by her memory!

Can I skip the elderflower cordial? It's yak. I'll have a hot apple juice instead.

evilgiraffe · 09/12/2013 16:48

That's some impressive date-remembering skillz, driz!

Yeah, faif, just spoke to my grandparents, will put it up on facebook later I think.

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 09/12/2013 18:38

I luff elderflower cordial. I'll only drink it from my posh glasses, it's that nice.

How luffly draf. Enjoy the excitement!

SinkyMalinks · 09/12/2013 20:43

Well done driz and draf!

I'm hoping I'll get a scan next, it might mean I can ahve a break from weekly midwife appt! (Assuming baby doesn't measure MASSIVE!)

pinkr · 09/12/2013 21:38

Hello all! Gosh a lot has gone on...in my sleep deprived state i'm not even going to pretend to remember specifics but hoping all is well for everyone!
I have come to the conclusion that little pink is just one of those non sleeping type babies you hear about. She has never went more than four hours in one go, apart from one blissful six hour stint, and at the moment it's averaging every hour and a half all night every night. i'm just about on my knees with it but she's so damn cute and I can really see her growing and learning which makes it worth it.
So...as no sleep tips from the smug mummies at baby groups with babies who regularly go ten hour stretches can anyone offer me useful advice on the best products four dark circles"?

OComeAllYeFaithFul · 09/12/2013 21:49

Pink it could all come crashing down around them. Faithlet slept through from 6 weeks to about 14. I don't think she's slept through again since, maybe once? I was never smug because I suspected it wouldn't last. But naps have improved massively (an amazing 2h 20 minutes this morning!). Have you looked at the No Cry Sleep Solution?

FriendofDorothy · 09/12/2013 22:42

The Little Mister has never slept through. Co-sleeping for at least part of the night has saved me.

pinkr · 10/12/2013 04:52

I Co sleep often towards morning..feed lying down etc but she's so restless I can't get over. I just wish she'd go for even one long stretch. surely it can't be good for her either mm.! I haven't looked at that book yet faith...she'll go down in cot awake etc without fuss, it's just staying asleep that's the problem!

KatAndKit · 10/12/2013 08:42

pinkr sounds like the four month sleep regression has hit your house! My sympathy, as that was also a hideous time for us. I think you just have to ride it out and enlist daddy night shifts a couple of times a week if she will drink expressed milk.
towards morning is often a time of quite light sleep for babies and adults. I found co sleeping from about 2am meant he had a deeper sleep with less kicking. Then when he fed again at five he went downstairs with daddy while i got a bit more sleep. Often he would go back down in the pram after a while and Mr k could nap on the sofa.

it does get better! Last night for the very first time the mini kit self settled in his cot on his own and stayed there without a peep for 11.5 hours! Thought the day would never come!
