Gosh little, sorry to hear that, that's going to be tough. Sending you lots of strength vibes. Thanks

Hope you're feeling better soon chip.

McBaby · 19/11/2013 13:16

17 weeks today and I felt the baby kick in the night :) it's very exciting!

Big bump here but I looked full term by 26 weeks last time so its not surprising!

thistlelicker · 19/11/2013 13:57

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and have a strong thudding feeling in tummySmile

dobedobedo · 19/11/2013 14:21

I'm just back from my 16 week midwife appointment. Everything is fine, baby's heartbeat is nice and strong at 140pbm and the midwife says that pregnancy seems to be agreeing with me. The last time she saw me I had probably just puked about 5 minutes before and was completely exhausted.

It's so nice to hear the baby's heartbeat Smile

snoozysleeper · 19/11/2013 15:24

little must be so difficult for you, thinking of you Flowers

dobe pleased your scan went well!

snoozysleeper · 19/11/2013 15:25

Sorry typo, I meant your appt dobe Blush

Spirael · 19/11/2013 16:10

Stay strong, LittleBairn! Hopefully your scan will be all positive. You might find it eases your pain at that location a little if you can associate some positive emotions with that hospital, instead of just all the bad. Thanks

Booked my gender scan for 21st December earlier, so we'll know by Christmas what flavour we're getting this time! My DM and DF will be able to come along too, which I think they're very excited about. Mostly because they're fascinated by all the new technology since their child producing days, rather than the news itself. Wink

MS is definitely on the way out here. Still getting intermittent mild nausea, but I can just ignore it and work through it now. Much better than at its peak - when I could barely manage to sprawl on the sofa!! Probably just as well, given that I'm back at work tomorrow.

Very Envy of those without bumps yet, I was hoping I'd get away with my normal clothes for longer than this! I think I was at least 16 weeks last time before I contemplated maternity wear. I'm only 12+some and definitely have a bump already, none of my regular clothes fit anymore.

I suspect it's all displaced blubber, however. Combined with the fact that I lost my stomach muscles with DD and everything is already nice and stretched, ready to accommodate the wiggle monster I seem to have produced this time!

On the plus side, it might mean I get a seat on the bus tomorrow. Wink

mumof2aimingfor4 · 19/11/2013 17:16

spirael we've got our gender scans on the same day! We booked oura privately too as I needed to know before we went on holiday in case they jad any nice baby clothes ;)

Hezbean · 19/11/2013 17:58

Little Bairn - hugs - that sounds really hard. Hope it goes OK. My brother and his wife lost a baby three years ago and had to go back to the same hospital in their subsequent pregnancy. I think they found it difficult being there to start with but the staff couldn't have been lovelier or more reassuring to them and they now have a gorgeous baby boy who's nearly 1. I hope it's OK as it can be for you.

I haven't posted in a bit - hello everyone! Exciting to hear about gender scans and bumps. We'd decided we weren't going to find out the sex and then we had a scan yesterday (14.0 or 14.2 depending which scan we believe!) and the sonographer said she could tell already and did we want to know! DH (who's been adamant he doesn't want to know) had a massive wobble about it and we nearly ended up finding out, but didn't in the end. I think he got overexcited - 10 minutes after we'd left the appointment he said he was glad we hadn't found out. It's made me think about it again though!!! Spent ages comparing our scan pics to the nub theory and to the "shape of the head" theory to try and figure it out!

I haven't exactly got a bump, but I definitely look more round and the definition I had in my stomach has gone (for ever I expect!). I'm still in normal clothes but my "fat clothes" but not my smallest jeans. I basically look like I've eaten all the pies, which lets face it is partly true, the rest is cake and scones!

LittleBairn · 19/11/2013 18:17

Thank you everyone for the support its been a wobbly day emotionally its great to have a pregnant Sanctury like this thread.

hezbean I'm Sorry for your brother and his wife's lose they must be so pleased with their little one.
You are right good staff can make all the difference.

moominleigh94 · 19/11/2013 19:24

Big hugs LittleBairn . My brother died, and my parents found it comforting but in a strange way, they said, to have my younger brother and sister born in the same hospital where he died, although they found it so difficult being there at first. I didn't understand for a while, but I'll be giving birth at the same hospital, and having been to a couple of appointments there, I kind of understand now, but I was concerned at first.

Aww Hezbean I wouldn't have been able to resist finding out! My 20-week scan is on the 12th Dec and I'm so excited!

Also decided on my dissertation for next year (getting my work done before I have a baby to distract/throw up on me) - I'm going to do a Theatre In Education performance and workshop to Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils in local schools about the importance of safe sex and the consequences - focusing mainly on pregnancy, but I'm hoping to also speak to people who've had various STDs and also any who are HIV positive as a result of unsafe sex, to see if they'd be willing for me to use their words in a piece of theatre :)

randdom · 19/11/2013 22:19

moominleigh94 if you are interested when I was at uni I did some training with a group called sexpression who taught us some exercises about STI transmission to do with that sort of age group. One of the I found very powerful. I don't know if it maybe has to be something that you come up with yourself?

impatientlywaiting · 19/11/2013 22:25

Ok I know I say this every month. But we must be sooooooooooo pregnant, there is an August antenatal group now. Woohoo for inching closer.

moominleigh94 · 19/11/2013 22:36

randdom sounds really interesting, I have to come up with everything myself but I'm researching similar groups at the moment :) The main focus is on the effects of pregnancy while you're young/a student, talking about the stigma as well as the physical effects, but I don't want to downplay the importance of protection from STIs :) I'm dead excited, we've been told we need to start planning now Grin

I keep looking out for new antenatal groups too impatiently, it makes me so excited to see new ones popping up! When the people on the August thread are having their babies, ours will be coming up on three months old Shock

I had a look at the April thread the other day seeing as my due date is still firmly 28th April... they're still on thread 2 or 3 (even they don't know!). It seems very quiet in there but the ones in there seem very nice... I like talking in here though because it's chattier and chances are the baby will be a Maybie anyway Grin

psynl · 20/11/2013 07:31

16 week appointment today (even though I'm 17+1) and hoping to hear the heartbeat.

AliOh · 20/11/2013 07:46

Hi haven't posted in a couple of days. Had someone touch my bump the other day eewwww eeeeewwww eeeeewwwww I didn't like it :( I was horrified!! Have my 16 week appointment on Monday, hoping we will get to hear the baby's heartbeat :) and DP and I have decided now to find out the sex of baby if we can at our 20 week scan!

I've started preparing in work already to go off on maternity leave (only 20ish working weeks left :)) I know it sounds really bad but I can't wait to go even though I love my job! Anyone else feel like that or just me?!

15+5 today :)

Chip86 · 20/11/2013 08:39

Thank u for your help
15+5

dobedobedo · 20/11/2013 08:47

Ali I can't wait to go off for maternity leave. I'm going to try and wait until first week of April so I'll pay no tax on my maternity pay as it's the new tax year!

impatientlywaiting · 20/11/2013 09:31

Morning all, hope you are all well. I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow, even though I'm 17 weeks today.

Told work I was pregnant yesterday which was a relief to finally do it. I have worked for the company for 2 years but started an 18 month secondment in October so wanted people there to get to know me first before I told them I was pregnant. My manager was lovely about it.

When are people thinking of going on maternity leave? I think I'll wait as late as I can. I officially work from home, although in this current role I've been travelling to London once a week and staying 1 night in a hotel and working 2 days in the London office. I live in Newcastle so it's a fairly long train ride, but all has been fine so far. I'll be able to work solely from home when I start getting bigger so was thinking I'd try and work until 38 weeks. What are other people doing?

mumof2aimingfor4 · 20/11/2013 09:42

I'm working all the way through, no mat leave for me. I childmind so seems a bit daft to take time off. Obviously if there are complications I'll have to take time off but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.

Spirael · 20/11/2013 09:49

I'd had my DD by 38 weeks last time, impatientlywaiting. Wink She was born at 37+3. I hadn't actually started my maternity leave by that point, but I wasn't at work as I was using up my holiday. I'd stopped work at just over 36 weeks, so barely got any time before her arrival.

I'll be preparing for a similar arrival schedule this time, though I suspect I'll end up with a forcible eviction at 42 weeks given how polar opposite things seem to be so far!

I'm currently thinking of finishing work at Easter, when I'll be 34/35 weeks. I'll have all my holiday allowance plus extra days from bank holidays where I'll be on maternity leave to use up, as I won't be back at work until the following January/February. So I should be able to take at least a month as 'holiday' before officially starting maternity leave.

Back at work today, not been too bad so far. Though I could have done without the three broken nights before this due to DD waking up!

randdom · 20/11/2013 10:23

Still
Early days at the moment but I am torn re:maternity leave. My job works in rotations, I will move around when I am 33 weeks so I am wondering whether I should stop there or work 4 weeks of the next job. I have a bit of time to decide.

Chip86 · 20/11/2013 10:39

I think i will leave 25 April thats pay day Grin
Do i have to use holiday leave before i go off or do you think i could ask to be paid for it?
Even though i think i might end up using it as i am all ready off because i have over done it Blush

LongTailedTit · 20/11/2013 11:50

I'm a SAHM now, but with DS I'd planned to take four weeks ML - ha! DS had other ideas! I got a whole three days... I was most peeved!
I'd planned so much stuff for my last month, Hypnobirthing practise, clearing the house, meeting up with friends etc, none of it happened!

I wouldn't be surprised if this one turns up early as well, so this time I plan to be ready from 34wks.

Had my 16wk midwife appt yesterday, finally heard the heartbeat after a lot of searching - TinyTit kept swimming out of the way! He/she moved from one side to the other as soon as the midwife found them... Awkward already... Grin

LongTailedTit · 20/11/2013 12:35

Obv I meant 4wks prior to birth! I left work on the Friday, waters broke on Tuesday morning. Boooooooo....
