Ahhhhhhh just write a very long message then my iPad crashed. Angry

moomin your OH is being very naive if he doesn't realise how dire the lack of social housing is at the moment across the UK.
If you want to guarantee the area you live and in living together by the time the baby is born then your right to consider private renting.
Is your OH also a full time student?

I don't want to scare you but it should be pointed out that they could make you like in a homeless shelter for quite a while before placing you and due to being homeless you ave much less of a choice.
Have you tried the charity Shelter? They will likely be clued up on your area and might be able to give you a more accurate picture.

hendricks you have every right to be cross that was unfair of him to do that without your agreement.

loopylou52 · 26/11/2013 22:17

Hendricks - I agree, it doesn't sound like you're being at all unreasonable! Can't your OH be put in charge of clearing up his mess by stopping MIL tell anyone?

moomin and chip - this housing stuff sounds like a nightmare! I don't have any advice but home you manage to get something sorted. I think you're right to be considering all the options moomin.

snoozysleeper · 27/11/2013 06:56

Morning all

I had my 16 week appt the other day, all ok but realised that I didn't get to listen to the heartbeat Sad I think the mw must have forgotten to use Doppler

I only realised when I got home....does it matter? Should I try not to worry?

Tempted to buy a Doppler myself now Confused

dobedobedo · 27/11/2013 07:15

moomin I think little has good advice there. Shelter will be a help and there are many things wrong with social housing. If you want a choice I'd look into private renting.

snoozy I've been so tempted to buy a doppler too but I think I'd drive myself mad trying to listen in all the time. Is making another appt to see the midwife an option?

Xavielli · 27/11/2013 07:20

Hi moomin. I wrote a post about applying for housing which seems to have disappeared. The gist of it was that you don't need info on everyone in the house, just you and DP and which areas are shared/for your sole use/shared with how many people. If they do have any problems with the application they generally contact you and you can arrange to talk to someone at the council about it. Because you're under 24 they may offer you accommodation in a mother and baby shelter, this is what I did. In a life full of fuck ups it was probably the best dedication I ever made.

Xavielli · 27/11/2013 07:21

That would be 'decision' not dedication - silly phone

rebeccax2 · 27/11/2013 07:51

Hi snoozy I have a doppler which I use now and then and only for a few mins, and my partner enjoys a listen too. Although I bought it originally as a comforting/reassuring device, I find I hardly use it now that I'm in the 2nd trimester and things are fine. I thought I'd be a nervous worry wart and be glued to it all the time but it hasn't been like that at all. At 15 weeks the heatbeat is easy to find, so I don't have any 'where's the heartbeat' panics.

I've not logged in in ages, but finally enjoying my pregnancy. All the worries and exhaustion of that nasty first trimester are over and I'm starting to dream of cots and clothes and cuddles. I have my booking in appointment today (very late, don't ask!).

Has everyone had their downs results? Anyone nervous? I have the age concern. x

snoozysleeper · 27/11/2013 08:00

Hi rebecca and dobe thank you

I'm not sure if I can book another appt just for the heartbeat...I think I'll look for reasonably priced Doppler

Good luck with the booking in appt rebecca I'm still waiting for downs results, a little nervous but ok really on that front

impatientlywaiting · 27/11/2013 08:27

Snoozy, I was super anxious before the scan (I've had 4 of them now) and bought a doppler at 11.5 weeks. Thought I'd be on it everyday, but like Rebecca I've only used it a handful of times. Always enjoy it and get a little buzz out of hearing it, especially recently as it's so much louder than when I first bought it, but I'm not on there every night worried.

I would highly recommend one, mine was just under £20 from eBay. It's an angel sounds and when I did a bit of looking online they seemed to have really good reviews.

LittleBairn · 27/11/2013 08:32

snoozy a lot of midwives refuse to listen to the heartbeat so early so it many not have been forgotten just something your clinic doesn't do at this stage.
I don't even get a 16 week appointment and I'm suppose to be high risk!

snoozysleeper · 27/11/2013 08:40

Thankyou for the recommendation impatiently

And littlebairn I did wonder if its a local policy thing so that is a bit more reassuring

Hezbean · 27/11/2013 09:14

We got our letter with the combined test results yesterday, I had been a bit anxious about it - all was good though, 1 in 100000! I actually wondered if it was a typo especially as I am 37. The letter says low risk and they don't recommend any further testing.

Minions · 27/11/2013 12:22

The midwife didn't listen for the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment either. She said it's not something they do at that stage. I was disappointed but all seems well so I'm happy To wait for 20 week scan.

Someone asked about hair loss (sorry, can't remember who). I noticed losing more hair in the shower up until a couple of weeks ago. I'm now 18+2 and almost overnight it went back to normal.

LittleBairn · 27/11/2013 12:55

minions it was me TBH this has been going on since my last pregancy and will probably only get worse post partum. Seriously it gets any worse and I may need to wear a head scarf.

Hezbean great results.

Squiffie · 27/11/2013 13:17

Has anyone else declined the nuchal fold/blood test? We've not tested in any of our pregnancies as it wouldn't change what I'd do about the pregnancy. Just wondered if I was alone in this? X

Hezbean · 27/11/2013 13:50

Thanks littlebairn

On hair loss - I do seem to be moulting more than usual too!

Flixy102 · 27/11/2013 14:09

squiffie I'm in Northern Ireland and as far as I know the test isn't routinely offered to women under 35 so I haven't had had them done either.

LittleBairn · 27/11/2013 14:11

squiffie I declined I didn't see the point in bringing more stress into this pregancy at the end of the day the results aren't a YES or NO a bad result would have left me a nervous wreck. And regardless we wouldn't have acted on any results.

dobedobedo · 27/11/2013 14:38

Hi all

I just had my appointment with the consultant. She seemed very happy, I weigh 5 kg less than I don't have to see her again until week 32 to discuss birth options. However she did say I have leaky kidneys and if I start feeling ill, to go and see my doctor or midwife. Apparently it happens in pregnancy because of the hormones but I'm hoping it's not a precursor to pre eclampsia or something else!

It was funny when she felt my tummy and then grabbed the notes panicking and saying "You're way bigger than you should be for 13 weeks!! This isn't right!" Until I reminded her that I was 17 weeks this week. Haha!

dobedobedo · 27/11/2013 14:40

5kg less than I did before I was pregnant that should say in the first line there! (preggo brain)

LittleBairn · 27/11/2013 14:56

dobe I had a similar experience at one of my sonograms she thought I was having my 20 week scan, when it was my dating scan at 14 weeks.
I had an awful few seconds when I noticed the look of confusion/shock.

I'm the same I've lost a bit of weight, must admit I'm pleased I've got plenty to spare. Blush

How does she know your kidneys are leaking?

dobedobedo · 27/11/2013 15:10

Yeah I'm pleased as well. My bmi was over 35 hence why I had to see her but it's dropped down about 2.5 points so they're happy. I'd like it to drop down a bit more, for health reasons - I don't want it to be a risk come birth time!

She did a urine test and there was sugar and protein in there. But as I feel well and have low blood pressure and no swelling, she's not concerned too much.

LittleBairn · 27/11/2013 15:17

That's pretty much my BMI too mind you it was calculate on wrong weight and height! I put little faith into BMI scores anyway.
The main thing us we aren't putting on loads of extra weight too early.

MrsFooCough · 27/11/2013 15:21

Hello all - I'm back, rather sheepish due to completely forgetting to post back on here or even check back occasionally!
Been a bit hectic since my scan, which btw was all fine Grin little Bean now due 31st May, I should update my details on the stats! Although we all know Beans come whenever they damn well please Shock
So MIL and DH's stepdad came to stay the night this last weekend, I nearly went insane. Stepdad is...well...somewhat right-wing, old-fashioned (he's 75) and racist/sexist, so I was wound-up the whole time expecting him to make some comment about the house not being completely unpacked after moving in back in August. Actually he was rather good, but I had to be on the spare single bed while they were here so my hips have been agony all week. No fun Sad
So yes, 12wk scan all good, I'm so pleased we're all here and from what I've seen no sad news since I last popped my head round the door?

Still heaving at most smells, been getting WICKED headaches, anyone else a bit bored with all these nasty symptoms? sigh

Mytwobeautifulgirls · 27/11/2013 16:15

can I join.. Grin im due 31st may baby number 3.
hows everyone feeling? does anyone seem to have crazy dreams?
