Are those feelings genuinely Braxton-Hicks? Every now and then it seems to tighten up, not painful but a little bit uncomfortable... I thought I was going crazy Grin

BroodyTroody · 17/11/2013 10:26

Hello again everyone,

I've been lurking a while but now I've had my scan I'm more comfortable to post! Glad to see such good news from you Smile

Looking forward to my gender scan 2 weeks today, I want to know now! Grin

Thinking of you Squiffie ThanksThanks

rebeccax2 · 17/11/2013 10:29

Hi Everyone.

squiffie sorry you've had a rough night. I've had bleeding as well and everything is okay, so try not to think the worst.

I'm starting to at last, if not enjoy, be okay with being pregnant. When do you guys start buying for the little nipper? I'm thinking about cots already!

dobedobedo · 17/11/2013 10:43

Welcome again broody!

rebecca I'm not buying any baby stuff until after Xmas. I already know what car seat and pram I want and I'm going to hire an nct cosleeper for the first 6 months. Until Xmas is out of the way, I can't afford to get any of it!

hamncheese · 17/11/2013 11:59

Totally out of the loop but have read through all :)

The joys of pregnancy indeed. My worst ones after crippling ms are heartburn but mostly rib pain. DS was long. I have a v short torso. I was in agony at the end, sitting with a hot water bottle on both the front ribs and back ones, sweating away cause it was the middle of summer but that was the only way to ease it!

Well, I was out til 11pm two nights in a row last two nights and I feel ok today so I think I've gotten into the happy second trimester phase woohoo! Anyone else there yet?

dobedobedo · 17/11/2013 12:05

ham I'm pretty much there. I'm still tired in the evenings but no where near the level of the first three months. Also the sickness has gone Grin

SharpLily · 17/11/2013 12:15

Yep, I'm getting there too. I still have good days and bad days but am less tempted to kill my husband when he talks about 'the next one'.

dobedobedo · 17/11/2013 12:18

Oh god the next one?! I have MIL trying to get me to have another one and this one isn't even born yet! What's wrong with people? I just feel like taking two bricks to dh's balls already! Wink

SharpLily · 17/11/2013 12:48

That's how I was the first 12 weeks - I was very clear that if he wanted another one, he'd have to have it himself. And that was on the better days - other days I was searching around his barn for a suitably brutal tool to use on him...

The morning sickness and fatigue are definitely easing off. I'm full of energy in the mornings at the moment so embark upon huge plans for the day - unfortunately I don't manage to sustain it all the way through to the afternoon and evening. Gradually though I can feel improvement, thank Pingu! I was beginning to think everyone was lying when said they it'll pass.

LittleBairn · 17/11/2013 15:25

Well I survived FILs visit actually he was fairly nice, did mention that people shouldn't have children before they are 30. I am 28. Hmm
Oh and the Cat sounds fine some anti biotics as a precaution by the sound of it she has pissed off a lot of people with her cancelled visit I doubt next time friends and family will be so accommodating to their plans.

rebecca I have bought a fair bit already. An Amby nest for the baby to sleep in if we don't co-sleep. Lots of clothes, cloth nappies and a sling.
I've only really got a changing table to buy, I will probably need to buy a pushchair as I do t think my bad shoulder will hold out.

One odd thing I'm experience is I really smell. Blush DH says he can't smell me but I can, I'm showering everyday use deodorant. Clearly its hormone related. I had it a few weeks ago but it disappeared after a while but now its back. Along with peeing while I sneeze I'm going to end up a social leper!

LittleBairn · 17/11/2013 15:26

dobe both times I have been pregant DH has brought up planning the next one with a week or two of BFP. I've let him keep his balls but only just...

Squiffie · 17/11/2013 15:56

Oh ffs, totally tmi but I now have d&v! Aaaargh! That is all.

hamncheese · 17/11/2013 16:25

squiffie ugh that's dire. Hope it passes quickly!

My DH has never mentioned having more even with DS. I think he knows I'd have not been impressed. He told me after the ms first time "I want you to know you never have to do this again if you don't want to" which is nice.

Speaking of not having more... Has anyone had the copper coil? That's hormone free isn't it?

dobedobedo · 17/11/2013 17:01

ham I had the copper coil since I had ds nearly nine years ago until two years ago. It's good because you don't have to think about it, you don't have hormone side effects and it lasts for fifteen years I think.
Sometimes it can dislodge, mine did once, it just started to come out one day. I got it removed and planned to get another in the following month, but my doctor died and I never got around to finding another one. And then I moved and we were trying to use timing instead and I guess that's why I'm pregnant now! Grin

I'm going to get another copper coil after this baby. Apparently it makes your periods heavier but I never noticed the difference. My periods have always been heavy.

randdom · 17/11/2013 17:52

If you are thinking about coils then the copper coil is one of the two options. It has the advantage that it doesn't have hormones so if that is something that you react badly too or want to avoid them. However some people find that they do cause their periods to get heavier and from my understanding they aren't quite as effective as the IUD. The IUD is coated with a progesterone coating that it releases locally. This means that the hormones should be released enough to prevent ovulation and the lining of the uterus from growing. This means that in most people it does stop their periods. It also shouldn't cause any effects on your body as a whole. From my understanding it is slightly more effective that the copper coil.

This is quite a reliable information leaflet on the copper coil www.patient.co.uk/health/intrauterine-contraceptive-device-leaflet

If you were wondering about the IUS (the one with the hormones) then here is some more information about that: www.patient.co.uk/health/intrauterine-system-leaflet

hamncheese · 17/11/2013 18:10

Thanks dobe and random really helpful. I really really don't want any form of hormonal contraception. But I really also do not ever want to be pregnant again. I really can't risk it. I will use condoms as an extra insurance to that regardless (DH super happy about that!)

Tbh I hate all forms of contraception, the idea of any of them, except just condoms, but that would surely be too risky. DH said he would get a vasectomy but I worry about how effective it will be. I just need to find the two least interfering. Perhaps vasectomy and condoms in case. He was well pissed off when I said that!!

As you can tell I am very happy with having two babies and stopping! Really can't risk another tbh.

randdom · 17/11/2013 18:49

A copper coil with condoms should be very reliable!

I know how you feel about hormones, I didn't get on well with the pill at all. It made me feel really nauseated! I think that maybe I am just really sensitive to them looking now at the way I am feeling sick with pregnancy.

I always said that I wanted to have a big family. However with how I have been feeling for the last 7 weeks I am not sure how many times I can do this :(

Xavielli · 17/11/2013 18:55

I'm being sterilised after this one. I would have last time but they refused before I was 30, I'm going to hound them until they do this time. There is only so many times contraception can fail before you give up :( (I am grateful for all my beautiful babies, however)

moominleigh94 · 17/11/2013 19:08

I'm getting the injection after the baby's born I think. I want more kids - but not for a fair few years I think! We want to get married first, and our aim for that is five years. My contraception method prior to getting pregnant was "it won't happen to me"... now I realise it doesn't work Hmm

Think it surprised pretty much everyone when they found out... I've always been the one with my head screwed on tightly Blush

thistlelicker · 17/11/2013 20:48

Am I the only one
Counting down the weeks till baby arrives ?

moominleigh94 · 17/11/2013 21:14

Nope thistle - 23 weeks tomorrow until due date for me Grin

loopylou52 · 17/11/2013 21:14

Hi everyone, just checking in. Congrats on your lovely news impatiently! Smile Hope you're doing ok squiffie. Welcome and congrats to the recent newbies.

I'm definitely feeling better and have more energy now, but my skin is still terrible. My back is also still painful but physio doesn't think it's pregnancy related to I'm hoping the exercises she's given me will get it sorted and strong enough to cope with pregnancy.

I'm also shocked about nipple leakage and braxton hicks happening this early. I am wearing maternity jeans now though - they're so comfy and I can't stand feeling anything tight across my stomach anymore.

impatientlywaiting · 18/11/2013 09:10

Morning all, hope everyone is well. I think that all of us should have reached the 12 week mark now. So congratulations to us all. Surely the time will just fly by now until our babies arrive? Yes???

Squiffe hope all is well with you today and you can be reassured all us good when you get to EPAU.

Xavielli · 18/11/2013 09:20

Good luck Squiffie keep us posted x

bluestone85 · 18/11/2013 09:43
